I have the Asus Transformer but it is more than $200. That is not much for a tablet but might check out the new Kindle Fire. Runs Android and looks like it has a lot of potential. Retails for $200.

I've actually heard some pretty decent reviews on the Kindle. But I haven't personally played with one yet. I know Coby has some, but they are kinda meh, you get what you pay for, ya know?

Samsung has the Galaxy Tab 7.0" for $300 with the Android 2.3.3 and I think Coby has a 10" with Android 2.3.3 as well for $300. But from what I saw, you're gonna be spending more to get the Tablet that comes with Honeycomb all ready installed. Like $400 and up.

I just bought 32 Archos 80 G9s for a research study. I am very happy with them, but they are a little above your price point. They are not iPad quality, obviously, but they are the best bang for the buck - in my opinion.

It does have an mini hdmi out. Here are the full specs:
http://store.archos.com/archos-p-5016.html
They also have a 10.1 inch for $369. You can also up the internal memory for a few dollars more, but it has an SDcard slot, so I figure I can just by a large flash memory card if I need more storage.
By the way, their office is in Colorado, they speak perfect English, and their customer service was great! They also gave me a very good deal on the 32 devices that I bought. I'm a happy camper.

Yeah it does. About the only thing that it does not have is a rear facing camera. Other than that, I think the specs are about as good as they get (at this point in time).

Any thought on this tablet

Not that I am aware of. They have a cardock for some of the older versions, so they might have that for the g9 in the future, but I dont know about a future lapdock or sorts.

I LOVE MY FLYER! best tab out in my opinion. The Kindle Fire has too many "Amazon only" restrictions, making it just like the iPad...
Pew! Pew! Pew! From my Mo-Pho!
http://android-gz.com

Remember, though... no tablet smaller than ~10" runs Real Honeycomb -- officially, unofficially, or otherwise. Google has never released the source, and has stated that they never will. I'm sure it'll get leaked eventually and/or ICS will make its way to "substandard" tablets sold without Honeycomb... but you'll probably be stuck waiting AT LEAST six months for that to even be a possibility.
If you're buying it to use as a tablet, that might not matter. If you're buying it to develop and test tablet-oriented apps on a real device, it's probably a deal-breaker (plenty of stuff that runs perfectly well under Froyo or Gingerbread on a low end tablet breaks catastrophically on a real Honeycomb tablet).
One other note -- if cases (especially layered or bumper-type cases a-la Otterbox) are important to you, find a case you like BEFORE you commit to buying a tablet. Some tablets, like the Toshiba Thrive, are awesomely appealing, but don't have a single bumper/otterbox-type case available, and none on the radar either.
As MoPho owners, there's an obvious family appeal of the Xoom... but be warned, it has the exact same "black crush" problem that the Photon does (in fact, that was what originally tipped me off that the Photon's black crush problem is almost certainly the result of a bad 24-bit to 16-bit quantization error from an incorrect gamma curve somewhere along the pipeline, and NOT a problem with the screen itself).
Also, if you use Graffiti, be aware that the Xoom's Graffiti support sucks. As far as I can tell, the Xoom is a lot more aggressive about slowing down the CPU than the Photon is, and (like HTC) blindly assumes that a soft input area is used for slow, purposeful taps instead of high-precision motion tracking. Let me put it this way... on my ancient 711MHz-overclocked Hero w/CM7 and scaling disabled so it runs in "Performance" mode, Graffiti is butter smooth and effortlessly accurate. On my Photon, it's decent (say, 99.5% accurate). On my Xoom, it's borderline unusable -- maybe 97% accuracy under the best conditions, and with visible lag (the underlaid outline tracing my finger path lags the finger itself by about 300ms and ~1cm).
Know that most tablets won't charge from USB, but some will "limp" and draw power from usb when available (ie, they won't charge the battery, but they won't really drain it further when connected via USB).
Take it with a pound of salt, but I've heard the Thrive's glass is more vulnerable to breakage than other tablets. On the other hand, the Thrive has a nice, wide, thumb-friendly bezel to grab. The Xoom's bezel is about a half centimeter narrower than I'd really consider to be ideal.
If you can wait 5 weeks, I can almost guarantee you'll be able to get a real Honeycomb tablet from SOMEWHERE for $249 or less on Adam Smith Day (the day after Thanksgiving, when Americans gather in our cathedrals of commerce and celebrate capitalism by spending money like there's no tomorrow...)

The Acer Iconia A 100 does run an official version of Honeycomb and it's a 7 inch tablet.

Well, unless you are specifically looking for this device, I'd say none. Spare yourself a lot of trouble and time. Really, nowadays there are much better tablets at similar (or, however, not much higher) prices out there.
As for your question, might these P/Ns be related to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048462 ??? I'm just guessing.

If i was in your place, i would save some more and get an asus transformer or the acer iconia. these are much better tablets than the folio. unfortunately for us, we were early adopters of the tablets, and at that time the most affordable was the folio, but now for some more euros, u can get urself a very decent tablet with honeycomb. folio has a lot of software issues and hardware issues. software issues are being worked on here by many users, but hardware, we cant do much.

I gave in and bought the folio and man I Despise it(the screen stopped working 4 hours in and even before that it had a LOT of other problems and issues that frankly left me wanting to do a hitler video about buying this pos. Which in retrospect could've been quite popular i even had the dialog all planned out lol but enough about that. I sent the bastard in for a full refund and they even got me to pay the shipping never buying from them again way to much hassle to return a 3kg package.

On a completely unrelated topic that is about Android but not the Evo 3D....

A lot of places are dumping Tegra 2 tablets for $299-349 and I would guess this is because of Kal-El being just around the corner. So, what do you guys think. Is it worth picking up a Tegra 2 tablet for $299 or wait until roughly December which is when the new Asus Transformer 2 with Kel-El is supposed to drop (and be presented some time this month)?
I'm waiting for Kal-El. I've been wondering how much they paid DC comics to use that name though....
lol prolly less than they would of paid for super man. I'm personally excited they are droping that low it means I finally might be able to afford a tablet. I think that price is much more reasonable considering a tablet is considered lower on the tech food chain than a laptop but a lot of laptops are cheaper.
the slider looks awesome but I'm waiting on the Kal-el too

Depends on your situation bud. I'm a graduate student and will get great use out of a tablet. I owned a galaxy tab 10.q for roughly ten days. I loved it, and I was sad to return it. But I don't have money to burn, so I decided my money would best be invested in a quad core tablet coming in the near future. Such a tablet would last me much longer than a Tegra 2, based on hardware alone.
If your just looking for a toy, and want to save some money, then tegra 2 might be your best bet.
Not really looking for a toy. I have a pretty big gaming laptop and lugging it around sucks. Especially now that I also have to haul around a car seat with a 15+ pound squirt in it.
I really want something that is zippy with minimal lag, where I can open, edit, and manipulate office crap (word, excel, etc), have a great web browsing experience, watch videos and music without lag, jitters, or any weird crap, and have long battery life. Mainly I would be using it at work where I can't do anything...including personal e-mail, on the computer there, but would have complete open wifi access.
I'm pretty sure I'll wait for Kal-el, but I was thinking of getting a Transformer with dock on sale and then dump the Transformer when the T2 is actually selling which might not be until December or January...just not sure if I am being smart or getting caught up in the "craze."
The Nook Color, while awesome, just wasn't awesome enough.
For the money I would go with the original galaxy tab. I've had my Sprint tab for over two months and still can't put it down, and also gettin.g on contract for $199.99. Even with the single core hummingbird processor, I am currently rooted and have custom ROM with touchwiz 5 and overclocked to 1.2 gighrz on stock kernel and get quadrant scores of 2800-3000+ which is better then any stock tablet out right now. With the custom ROM this tablet is fast, plays every game flawlessly and plays any movie like glass, including blueray movies without converting. So I would recommend the original tab or pay a little more and get galaxy tab 10.1 or the HTC flyer is a very nice tab aswell.

So....anyhow.... Anyone know of any other manufacturers who are in the process of making Kal-El based tablets? I noticed Acer was on sale for $100 off at a number of retailers. Although that isn't any form of confirmation, it does seem like they are clearing inventory to make room for something...but I could be dreaming a bit. I really liked the design/spec balance on the Iconia for a non-dockable tablet.

transformer prime vs htc's new tablet

So I saw over on bgr today that htc's gonna have a quad core tablet coming out in february. I'm already very enthused about the transformer prime from asus coming out next month, and wanted a few opinions. I'm debating on whether or not I'll enjoy scribe or the dock more (the promise of 18 hours of battery life is very tempting). Could I get a few transformer and flyer/evo view owners to chime in on how happy they've been with their tablets?
Do you have specs of the new HTC tablet?
I myself am probably gonna go with the Prime because of the extended battery and better IPS screen. HTC is probably going to be just Super LCD.

IMHO, I'm going for the prime. I'm not sure HTC will have a good price for their upcoming tablet given the Jetstream is a hefty $700.

that 2 gigs of ram does look tempting, but I like the fact the the prime is dockable, and if I'm thinking right, is capable of 128 gigs of storage (64 built in, 32 micro sd in tablet, 32 sd in dock)
edit: or 256 if you use a 64 gig microsd and a 128 gig sd

This is the ON CONTRACT price. What are they crazy?
The prime looks really sweet! I'm going to put some blind faith in HTC though. I've allows loved how HTC's products feel, they allows feel like a really high end device. I really liked how the flyer felt in my hands when I was checking it out at best buy. I have a horrible feeling the new one is going to be super expensive though.
Al that being said I think I'm going to pick up one of the new Nook tablets because of the price and I read today that barnes and noble basicially told Micro$oft where to shove there patent licensing fees.
i'm stuck between wanting the tprime or the lenovo tablet. i mean, 2 gigs sounds sweet, but asus likes updates, and using as a laptop was really the reason i got an ipad in the first place. the only problem is the ipad can't do much. let's see if i can save up enough before release to even have a choice...
what does everyone else think?
The BGR article said the HTC tablet will be shown in February but "will launch some time before the end of the third quarter." There will be quite a few Tegra3 tablets to choose from by that time unless they release it much quicker. Hopefully they learned from that overpriced Jetstream and try to actually price competitively this time. I will be interested in hearing more on the Lenovo, but right now it looks like I am getting the Prime.

Selling my iPad 2 to get a T-Prime; this **** looks legit.
HTC Tablets have all disappointed me thus far and I'm sure the Lenovo tablet will be thick and plastic just like the last one. They have great specs but their design department sucks balls. :3 (I own a ThinkPad).
I'm a TF101 user, and love it. If it wasn't still meeting all my needs so damned well, I'd sell if for a Prime. As it stands, while the Prime specs are sweet, as fast as Asus is putting these out, by next year when my Microcenter insurance on my TF101 is almost out, Asus will have the third gen Transformer out, and I will be able to decide then whether to go with the Prime or the 3rd Gen TF. The TF101 has not failed to disappoint me, and is my primary device right now. I still have my regular Win7 laptop, but barring a few very minor shortcomings, the Transformer meets all my needs with superior battery life and a size I rather like, and I'm a university student, working on my research disertation, so my TF sees some REALLY heavy usage and document processing.
HTC makes good phones, I have the 3VO, but I don't think that I'd want the heavy UI overlays that HTC tends to put on their products, nor the price tags that tend to go with them. One of my favourite things about my TF is that it's not heavily skinned by Asus, and the UI they do have is very pleasing to the eye, without killing battery life. I'm only just now toying with the idea of rooting, but I haven't (and still don't) feel the need to root this tablet. It's so very usable thus far, and I don't have any problems with battery life or anything else. My 3VO, for the record, was promptly rooted the day I got it. Sense is pretty for a while, but just horrid on the battery, and I really prefer the vanilla Android experience.
YMMV, just my .02 on this topic. FWIW, I think any tech user should look at what they need and want from any given device, and find the one that best matches what those ideals are, regardless of brand. HTH.

Trying to be cheap as possible. Seen a couple places talking about Polaroid ICS factory rooted tab at big lots for 99 bucks. Mom told me about it too . Anyone know if out worth getting? open to suggestions here too for good tab.... Cheap good tab.

Take a look at http://reviews.cnet.com/2733-3126_7-936-5.html for a small list. They're not in the range of the Polaroid, but they're pretty reliable.
The Polaroid is only 800x480 at 7", I imagine you'll be doing some reading on it. The Nook Color and Kindle Fire are both 1024x600 at 7". The Polaroid has the advantage of having ICS preloaded, where as the other 2 have only unofficial ROMs.
I'd go with the newest Samsung galaxy tab 7. It is around $250 so a bit out of your price range, but if you could get together the money for it I would definitely reccomend you get it or the Kindle Fire.
Thanks alt for Al the suggestions... Have been looking in craigslist but pit in sticks where I live the two closest cities are to far right now and would like new with some warranty.

Depending on what you are looking for in a tablet, the polaroid (or all other $99 tablets ftm) will be a waste of your money. Tablets that inexpensive are not up to par with google's standards, and therefore, are not "google certified." These tablets will not have the best hardware, or even the play store/android market. They will have custom markets (applibs, amazon marketplace) The samsung galaxy tab 2 is a great tablet for the price, but if you are wanting to save a little bit more, you can try looking up archos online. They are a huge brand in europe (supposedly) and seem to function fairly well. Not to mention they are about the least expensive "google certified" tablets I have seen out there. Good luck. =D

Motorola MADE laptop docks, they are discontinued due to them being pointless and stupid.

Well, I guess the Clambook solves the age old question of what to get myself for Christmas... Looks really promising! Would love to not have to drag my macbook around with me anymore!
if they made it to use widi (allshare cast) to wirelessly do this I would pick one up in a heartbeat. cable makes it a bit cumbersome.

They still make them, they recently announced plans to discontinue them
Pointless and stupid to some is amazing to another. Windows tablets were considered pointless and stupid in 1998 but now iPads and Nexus tabs are all the rage and we got muvvaz dying to get a Windows 8 tablet. There's something called taste, and another called opinion, which we are all entitled to, though to feed the trollage, the Motodocks don't sell due to Moto not being a huge brand anymore (not many phones sold = less people wanting a lapdock for their phone), the price was around the price of a full laptop and that they are pretty much aimed at the techies. The number of techies out there compared to normal consumers is pretty low, but much larger when you look at techies overall compared to Motorola phone owning techies, and a lapdock that runs with any top end android or ios device at a lower price has a lot more scope for sales. I would love to pick one up for £80-100, would stretch to £150 if I could have one device work with my S3, 4S and iPad 3 rather than needing to buy separate connectors.

Using Nexus4 stock and unrooted, Kii keyboarding it up
It looks cool but the atrix actually docked on the laptop. This isn't really lap-friendly. It couldn't be used on a Train with no tables for example. Shame, the hardware itself looks nice.
They should have a dockable area where the touchpad is, so you can use the screen as a touchpad
get a padfone, most elegant solution so far

out of my price range unfortunately. Mine have to be nearly "free" on contract
