Thanks for the effort Crack, ran the batch file; it looked like all went well. But, my phone (i.e. superuser/busybox) still tells me it can't find root access... any ideas?

I removed due to some people saying the zergrush method was bricking their phones. After I used it on My phone I had to do an FDR for it to work again otherwise it was a boot loop. When I pushed this out I never rebooted. SO until we get a reliable way to root I will upload to the to my dropbox once I can get to it.

Interesting, I ran it a couple of times and no problems, just no root. I guess I got lucky.,..

side note When i ran it and ran root checker it never found my root path but busybox worked just fine. We may just have to wait till we get a permaroot once we do I have a ROM that has wifi calling in it that i need testing but cant since there is no recovery

i ran i and got # access on cmd line..

so then if it is just disabled it still must have some processes running that is interfering with revolution. Fully exiting must close everything then. As long as it works.
Just so everyone knows when my wouldnt work it was sitting at
acquiring root (method 3)...
so if that is happening to anyone make sure htc sync is fully exited or uninstalled! I never used htc sync i had just installed it for drivers so it was no big deal to me to uninstall!!
I have uninstalled HTC sync and am still stuck at acquiring root (method 3)

I need help with the rooting process please

I want to root my Motorola Photon. I have been reading many posts on different rooting methods and I'm confused on all these methods. Of course, the dockless method sounds like the best since I don't have the dock. Can someone who is more experienced in rooting please tell me what is the best or easiest way to root the phone? Does anyone have a good step by step thread or website I can use? Any help would be great!
Shabby has a thread in the dev section which is one click. I am happy to help. What exactly are you confused about?

Thank you for your reply! I got my Photon the other day. I need to know what to do to root it. What do I have to download or do to root it? Yeah, I'm new at rooting. I tried the Z4 Root app but it don't work on Gingerbread.

This thread here offers the 'once-click-root' for our device. What operating system are you on? I'll assume windows. If so download the zip file as well as the appropriate drivers and then just run the bat file.
I downloaded the drivers and the zipped Photon OCR file. I installed the drivers. Do I put the zipped file on the SD card or do I run one of the files with the phone plugged in to my computer?

um i think he was making a comment towards calling someone on here to help him with it.
i honestly dont understand the issue with so many people not being able to root... yall have a root that is far easier then the nexus s 4g (i should know i wrote the one click for that phone too)
Here is shabbypenguins one click root that worked very easy.
anyways without further waiting here it is
Download
Drivers in case you need em
32-Bit 64-Bit
driver mirrors
Download and install the drivers. Download and extract the one click root to your desk top.
Run the one click root from the folder you extracted to your desk top. After 3 reboots you should be rooted.
Make sure when you plug your phone into your computer you select charging only in the notification pull down.
If it don't root your phone the first time try it again, some people reported having to do it twice.

This may be a stupid question, but does it completely wipe your phone when you root it?
I'm close. I did it 4 times and no go. I attached a screenshot on the info. Could it be the phone resetting itself twice during the process?

Try turning the phone off then on.make sure you have the drivers installed. Try reinstalling them if you do them try again. Make sure USB debugging us checked on your phone under menu/settings/applications/development. And when you plug in your phone to your computer in the notification pull down make sure to check charge only.

[Q] Root Issues Motorola Photon

Hello, I'm having problems with the one click root, it goes through the steps normally but when it says "hackin yo ****" and restarts the command script says "error: phone not found"... How can I fix this error?
Can't help you with the AIO never used, i'd do the torpedo if I were you. Has never let me down and its literally just a few instructions a monkey could follow
actually i honestly think you could train a monkey to torpedo root hahaha

Its probably your drivers try reinstalling with latest. If still doesnt work , then try "Droid 3 root". Works perfectly for photon.

Try installing ADB in your Machine 1st..
Do a Reboot after doing it..
Then enable Unknown source in your device and also USB debugging..

I have rooted several separate photons and did not encounter issues. did u read the "read me" included in the AIO files?
Also, make sure that USB port recognizes the phone, maybe try a different USB that is directly connected to the motherboards header.
Possible the debugging or charge only mod not selected?
Best of luck.

What about using "AirDroid" from the market and copy the ROM over WiFi ?

Well since your getting a SoD... you most likely have to reflash your rom. If you don't have it on your phone you will have to to a sideload install. I've never played with sideload but I am sure others will be able to help you.
Do you have the android sdk installed? Sounds like you don't have the right drivers installed. Get the sdk, open the sdk manager, update the usb driver, reboot the pc. You should be able to push the rom to the phone with Adb.
You need to be bootloader unlocked and have a recovery installed like twrp or cwm as well.

did you update cwm I have heard others not being able to find it once they did. Also did you get that SoD from updating to a new rom? if so it is most likely corrupt or the install didn't complete.

So I got my bootloader unlocked but unfortunately during the second flashing process the up test program froze and errored out, now my phone isnt recognized in adb devices and will only go into s/w upgrade mode.
Edit: I also tried fastboot and was able to sucessfuly get into fasboot but flashing the stock x-loader and u-boot was unsucessful and fastboot just gave me the "waiting on device" message.
Edit 2: So after quite the night of running through your guide and a couple of hard ships, I have to say this a very well written guide and it would have worked the first try if I had been doing too much multitasking while in the second flash process.
Overall was easy to follow and I got through after having failed attempts with others guide before due to oem unlock command not working after waiting.
Also I highly reccomend anyone who is going to try this to at least give the other tutorials on unlocking the bootloader for the p769 a solid read through. It will make a difference in what you understand and dont.
Lots of props and I look forward to seeing what you do for our phone in the future!

confused abotu superuser part.....
So carlos it looks like i was having the same issue as you that you posted in another unlocking bootloader thread, cant get past the adb oem-unlock. It just keeps doing a normal reboot.
I saw you got it to work with the wifi connection, is that confirmed needed for every attempt?
also in your guide you have the following command: Go to the Superuser App and update the binary the normal way
I dont know what that means , could you explain that part a little better. Thanks
