It has been stated that you need to remove your CM partitions and then run webOS Doctor.

i have no idea where this conception that WebOS doctor repartitions...it only restores the OS itself, nothing else.

Well I have followed directions on how to remove the proper CM partitions and then ran an unmodified webOS doctor and the TouchPad now shows almost 14GB. I built a Meta-Doctor but there was no use for it after reading several people had success using the unmodified one.

I mean, all you said was that root was near
of course people would want a link to the source to back this up
thought that was the common sense way that things worked?
I mean to me its kind of silly to say "hey root has been found", and then the next line "go google for more info"
but then again thats just me
the man simply asked for a link to which talks about said root, and you act like he wanted the link to just www.twitter.com,and who doesnt know how to get to twitter? i mean really

Ok, to clarify... We've definitely found a hole. We're working to make an exploit that can take advantage of the hole. It'll take us a day or so to sift through the wreckage (as it were). By time the first attack at the hole was done, my device would only boot with /data mounted as ro and the screen wouldn't turn on. So a factory reset later, and we're sifting through the results. How do you know if my Droid X2 is Liberty or Eclipse?

Whats the difference on them or what I don't get it thanks in advance!!
Eclipse and liberty are just roms that you can flash onto your x2 if you have rooted your phone. If you or someone you know hasn't personally put them on your phone, then you'll have neither. It isn't something that would be on there from the manufacturer.

if u are looking for info regarding those roms just check out their op's and also check the stickies here in general and the one by booked in development forum for all info...
you question is kind of vague and frankly the thread title was just very confusing with the wording u chose. I almost felt like english is not ur first language?
if u can clarify ur question and be more specific with it maybe I can answer it somehow...good luck

yes sir..u are VERY right.
all I am trying to say is try to NOT be harsh...some things can read harsher than intended when type.
im not trying to say u didn't or that no one is trying to help out.
but it is also inevitable, that people no matter what they have read, will still need that little bit of "extra" info on "what to do now"
especially since our X2 can be picky with what you do or the process you use to do it
I really just said what I did in hope to "preempt" any "mean spirited" replies.
imagine how u would like to be answered when entering a site and following the rules at least to not post questions in dev section and u really don't understand all these : ROM, SBF, OTA, root, p3's, su, busybox, CWM, bootstrap, recovery, stock, modded, etc... words and what they mean.
now im DEFINITELY NOT saying go ahead and write out exactly everything the person needs to do. I am just saying don't be harsh. not that u were. or anyone else in this thread((yet))
just saying a bit of guidance and clarification on things asked is nice to see....basically common courtesy.....
imagine how u felt or I felt or anyone feels entering this "world" of flash addicts who do this every day lol.
((now if this was posted in dev forum as new thread I would call the DAWGS and say have at em for not reading the rules at all Hahaha))(
I am sorry ..this post has gotten longer than intended and I have succumbed to rambling and being off topic. ....

Actually, he did not search at all from my understanding. I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm just saying. From his OP, he states that he accidently found out how to take screen shots with the stock, none rooted rom when trying to turn off his device. Right away he posted the method up and I can bet without any search if that was a known feature for the amaze.
I'm pretty sure if you search Google, it will let you know thats a known stock feature for the amaze. But I guess you can give him credit for trying to help.
And actually, here it is. First result when I searched google

Who's flaming?

[Q] Noob to XDA Dev. Looking to see if I understand this right regarding ICS ROMs.

Hey guys! I've lurked around here for a while. I bought a Samsung Galaxy S II for ATT a few months ago after being a longtime iPhone user. Therefore, I'm fairly new to the whole Android tweaking process. I want to install an ICS ROM onto my phone, particularly CM9. I've read the stickies, and am really trying to understand, but at the same time, do not wish to brick my phone. So could someone tell me if this is correct? Or where I'm wrong? Based on what I've read here, to install ICS, I need to...
1. Root my phone as outlined in the thread for that. (The one about not activating the yellow triangle. Since I'm on 2.3.6, I'll need to use "Odin3 One-Click Downloader".)
2. Backup my apps and texts and crap using Titanium Backup to my SD card.
3. Install the proper kernel (where do I find this?) using Mobile Odin.
4. Make sure CWM is active, backup NAND (I assume this is an option?) and flash CM9.
5. Flash Google Apps.
6. Restore my Ti backup.
Thanks guys for the help! And sorry if I'm being stupid/completely misunderstanding.
Read, useless thread is useless

Read, read and read some more. Do a search for Hellraiser as there are no true ICS ROMs for this phone yet, only i900 ports.
If you need to ask questions like this, you are not ready for ICS and ICS is not ready for you.
Since I9100 kernel source code has only been out for a week and we had a bunch of I777-specific **** to fix - while lots of progress has been made things are not quite working yet.
man some people are rude in here....
And others are lazy. Welcome to XDA.
There are a lot of different roms. Usually they rewrite the kernel within the install of the rom. But basically you have the right idea...

Facts are facts, loser. There is not yet a fully-functioning official ICS ROM released for the i777, so any talk of one is premature. The guy admits in the title of this thread that he is a noob and doesn't quite understand. These are exactly the people who should not be flashing ANYTHING, let alone a ROM that is not ready for primetime. But keep on encouraging him and others so that the forum gets filled with people needing help to fix what they messed up. I'm sure you'll be rewarded with tons of adulation for your efforts. Troll indeed.

I'm not sure about the zedomax crap but that's what made me want to make this thread. And yes I do see your point!
Because zedomax is a douche. Plain and simple.

Well said
Like we say to all those who ask questions first...
Search, then ask. If you search this, you wouldn't have needed to ask lol. He's lame and I would have been another statistic had I give ahead and used his video as a guide to root my phone. Luckily I came here because I didn't understand and I've not had a problem since that I find cause and fix after reading more.
[EDIT:] ...and I spam Pirate till he gives me the answer ... Which I very strongly caution against!

He gives no support, his crap is out dated, and he's after nothing but money.
Search it man, and you'll see the tons of threads with issues from his crap.
Not sure if this will stay open, but i think that pretty much covers it.

He definitely doesn't give credit, but it's not like it's all that bad. People do reviews all the time without giving credit to the dev of the rom. I can honestly see a bunch of reasons why people would hate him...but he centralizes some useful things and makes videos of them (rooting methods, apn video, etc.) - even if his reviews are litterally just booting up the rom and then going into settings or opening up netflix....lol. His reviews are awful. I can find out more by looking at the preview screenshots of the rom. Idk why I would watch any of them, maybe just hoping he'd actually say something useful about the rom other than "runs really good", but on occasion he would. I will say he definitely uses XDA for the info and most likely makes a accountable amount of money from his service, however he is very prompt in helping out any person who has a question on his channel, and many people just appreciate what he does in general.
But you XDA users are way too schwerd
EDIT: Oh nevermind I just remembered that he puts up download links for the roms he takes from XDA. That's a problem.

Yes, it is wrong for him uploading the ROM to his own site or whatever. It is just not right. BUT, he also makes lots of tutorials showing people how to root, etc, so I wouldn't see a reason to hate him that much, although I'm not a developer so they might not like it

If you guys want that site, go there and leave us be. reasons have been made very clear. Do not try to defend him here.

I'm under the impression that his tutorials are either unclear or inaccurate, but they lead to boot loops or other problems. So people then flood XDA frantically asking for developer help for problems that zedomax's guide caused. I can see how annoying it would get to constantly clean up someone else's mess.

I don't want his site either, I used to watch his videos on YT, until his channel got banned. Then he tried making everyone try to sign a petition and ****. Then he posted a video saying basically, "I'm done with YT, go to my site". It is really just a money game for him, taking other developers work, making it seem like his own, and getting money off it.

I never watched his tutorials, I only watched his crap to look at his "ROM reviews" which aren't really reviews.

I've used his tutorials (I know) and its what brought me here. Weird thing was on root you had to factory reset because wifi wouldn't work without a factory reset. Nothing as serious as bricking my phone though.
