[Q] 16 GB Internal Memory? - HTC Amaze 4G

So I noticed it says this phone has 16gb of memory, but when I look at the phone storage it says 9.75gb total and internal store 2gb. Is this another memory thing like the desire z / g2 having 4gb of memory but only 1.5gb user accessible?

Same here.

yep it is blocked off to OS and stuff

mine say the same. not sure how they keep getting away with this.

Theoretically it's 16... Then they partition for the OS and read only files. All storage devices are the same way.

They could have advertised 10 gb and be a little more realistic

[Q] Internal Memory and Storage? 2,8,16G ?

I've been prowling websites, SE's included and I find contradictions on the amount of memory - internally and the amount of the internal storage (not microSD) in the X10.
Most sites seem to suggest that there is 1GB of RAM memory. The OS/Firmware takes up 384-400mb ROM.
There are sellers who say that the X10 has 8 or 16GB of internal storage. There are others that say it's only 2GB. I think that a lot of sites are confusing the microSD with internal storage. Rogers site seems to suggest 8GB internal storage and ATT says 2GB.
The Samsung Galaxy S seems to come with 16GB storage and a 8GB card at ATT.
The X10 they are selling seems to be with 2GB storage and 2GB sd card. (SonyStyle is selling the X10 with a 8GB card incl.)
Could someone clarify this? Is it just confusion with the SD card or did ATT order up the X10 with less internal storage than the rest of the world, guarantee that 'geeks' wouldn't be as interested....
From what I've seen they're all the exact same hardware wise, and the internal memory is the same. Was supposedly 1gb internal memory in the phone, but not sure if it's actually true, or if 1.6 limits available system ram.
The x10 from Rogers in Canada comes with 16GB card installed. (They did a few months ago anyway)
1GB ROM (internal mem)
384MB RAM (used when phone is on for programs and tasks)
"practically" unlimited Storage (mem card)

I don't understand the 'practically unlimited' part. Isn't one of the reasons that people want Eclair/Froyo the ability to store apps on the memory card rather than the internal memory? And the better message auto-management?

"practically" unlimited storage was regarding size of memory card you can use in your device, which as of now can be max. 32 GB.
That´s 3rd point..first is internal memory (ROM), second is operating memory (RAM) and finally third is external memory (MicroSD card)

internal storage question

Can anybody clarify the internal storage situation on the evo 3d? It sounds like it's essentially 1Gb (user-available), same as the sensation. So including all the ram and storage specs we have
sensation: 768Mb ram / 1Gb internal storage (user-available) / 8Gb SD
evo 3d: 1Gb ram / 1Gb internal storage (user-available) / 32Gb SD
is that right?
edit: apparently I got the included SD card wrong in the evo 3d, it's 8Gb too. So they're even closer than I thought.
I had been under the impression for months now that the sensation had less internal storage than the evo 3d, but I think I may have been mistaken and that was just an artifact of the order the information was released in: The initial specs I saw for the sensation said 1Gb internal storage, then later I found that it's apparently a 4Gb chip where most of it is used for android/sense/etc and ~1Gb is available to the user for apps. The initial specs I saw for the evo 3d said 4Gb internal storage, then now I'm finding out (and correct me if I'm wrong) that it's the same situation: most of that is used for android/sense/etc and only ~1Gb is available for user apps.
Also I know I can get a larger SD card if I need more space, but I care about storing apps in internal storage because I presume it to be faster than an SD card.
I've read there is actually a full 4GB of internal memory. Well maybe not a full 4GB more like 3.xxxx. But I could be proven wrong.
edit: okay correction 1 gb actually available to use (from those that have actually gotten hands on reviews)
EVO 3D
Internal Memory
4GB eMMC / RAM 1GB
Sensation:
Internal Memory
768 MB RAM, 4 GB Internal Storage (1 GB user addressable)
Though apps generally don't take up a lot of space, be aware that like the HTC Sensation 4G, the Evo 3D doesn't offer much internal storage. It has 4GB of internal memory but only 1GB of that is available to the user, and you can't uninstall the preloaded apps. You can move them, as well as any downloaded apps, to the preinstalled 8GB microSD card, but if you plan on loading up your phone with apps, music, and video, you might want to upgrade to a higher-capacity card. The phone's expansion slot can support up to 32GB.

got this from cnet
Total internal memory=5Gb
1Gb=RAM
4Gb=eMMC
The 1 GB RAM should be what stores all of your mtd partitions. boot, recovery, wimax, system, data, cache, etc. The eMMC storage is used for music, documents, pics, etc if this is the location you specified to save it to.
Once this thing is rooted we can use the eMMC for whatever we want. All we need to do is partition it if you want more than 1 partition or format it to ext and use it as /data. But of course we will need a custom kernel that supports ext2, ext3, ext4 to use it as /data. Personally I am looking for a dev that can get a kernel with ext fs and loop support included for my own project.

When the hell did they test..
The camera can also capture 1080p HD video in 2D (720p in 3D), and video quality was also good.

I want 1080p recording. But I'll live with 720p until they update it.

Wrong, RAM stores running apps and running os elements. The mtd partitions boot etc would be on the ROM.

ROM=1GB
This is as far as I can tell
There is 4gb of memory built in for storage. HTC uses 3GB of that between Sense, Android and all the stuff they preinstall. So you have 1gb for Apps. Then you can put in up to a 32gb sd card. The reason it's important to note it's 4gb is because the rom chefs especially guys who do ASOP will be able to free a chunk of that space.

[Q] How much rom does the phone have?

Every place I have read and seen said 4gb rom 1gb ram. However every place I check on the phone says 1.* rom. What happened to the other 3? They don't show up anywhere what am I missing?
I thought it was 1gb ROM and 4gb internal memory.... Even tho the 4gb is eaten up regardless
Bussin Caps n 3D
1 gig of ram and 1 gig of usable internal memory. As far as actual ROM space, I doubt we'll know prior to getting S off.

Built in memory

S2 have a 16 gig internal memory, so why does mine say 3 gig used and 8 available? Where is the other 5 gig? I'm running a custom ROM (not had chance to update my sig yet) would that make a difference? I can't seen to find out what this 5 gig is........
Thanks

i dont have the exact number to the nearest MB but it works something likes this...
16GB on internal memory equates to 14.4 (approx) GB available memory...
you can see something similar in any windows/linux PC...when you try to see the disk space...available is alway less than total...dont worry/bother right now why its like that...
ok now from 14.4 GB available... you take out 2.1 GB (approx) for internal memory (also called partition for storing Apps)...
this leaves you with 12 GB (approx) free...called the SD card memory (separate from any external SD card you might put in)
its like that for each and every SGS2 16GB model user.... nothing to worry about..

Decrased internal storage in XT1524

Hi, first i want to say sorry for my English, because I'm from Poland So, my XT1524 have decrased internal storage. How? I don't know. In TWRP after full wipe, and factory reset i see 4800MB left. There should be around 8GB of memory i think. I don't know what can I do with it Best regards Andrew.
Your OS and what not uses a portion of the internal storage. It's like that for all phones. It's just a lot more noticeable on lower end devices.
What he said ^^ even though the phone is advertised as 8GB you would still only get 4+ GB of available space due to the ROM/OS eating up a part of the 8GB.
