[Q] How can i root tab 10.1 to honeycomb 3.2 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Honeycomb 3.1. Is it possible to root this to honeycomb 3.2? If so, please share how can it be done? Is there a big difference between 3.1 and 3.2?

You can't "root to 3.2", root has nothing to do with the update to Android 3.2. You want an update to 3.2 but that doesn't exist for the Galaxy Tab yet. So "3.1" is as high as it gets for now.
3.2 brings support for smaller screen sizes (like 7") and smaller resolutions (1024x600). Both changes are not relevant for us. The second "major" change is an option to scale phone apps to use the whole screen. But since most of them run in fullscreen anyway and the ones that don't look like crap blown up to full screen, it's not much of a loss.

Why is TouchWiz on Acer and not Tab 10.1?

Can somebody explain how the Acer A500 has a TouchWiz UX rom and we don't?
Am I missing something? How can I install TouchWiz on my tab now...

I assume that it was hacked over from the 10.1v, the same way people sometimes do for Sense on non-HTC phones.
I'd just wait for the official Touchwiz update, personally. Hacking in these frameworks on foreign devices can be take a lot of time to get stable and full-featured and by that time Sammy will have probably already released their Touchwiz update.

Oh.. I didn't know the 10.1v had TouchWiz UX
It didn't come from the 10.1v - it ships by default with a very vanilla HC 3.0.1
The new HC 3.1 rom from seo comes with TouchWiz. It's a little sluggish in places - esp using the Samsung Keyboard (although the incl. Swype keyboard doesn't suffer from any issues).
The taskbar at the bottom is a little too sensitive - you find yourself touching the screenshot icon by mistake when in landscape & holding the tab at the bottom.
Notification icons - either on the taskbar or from the popup settings panel don't always launch the assoc app (like gmail) - it's a little sensitive about where you tap.
Seo implemented some fixes in the kernel which fix USB charging when plugged into the PC.
Kernel devs should follow his 7100 github repo (https://github.com/stefansaraev/gtab-p7100-3.1-kernel) for details of the fix.

The rom on the A500 has this "Based on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P7500) P7500XXKF8_OXAKF8_XXKF8 ROM (Honeycomb 3.1)" ...
Which means there is a 3.1 TouchWiz rom for our 10.1 Tabs somewhere that we 10.1 owners don't have access to....?
*Edit*
Just found that there is a 3.1 TouchWiz released for the 10.1v here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155023
The 10.1v models are P7100, the 10.1 range are the P75x0.
Apart from a few minor updates - I don't think any tabs, apart from the GoogleIO 10.1 tablets, have received proper HC updates yet.
But this is one of the reasons XDA exists isn't it? To pull together all the fragments from the myriad of builds & updates into something cohesive - fixing all the bugs introduced by the hardware vendors & network operators.

I thought it was...
7 inch is GT-P1000
10.1 is GT-P7510
10.1v is GT-P7100
10.1 is 7500 & 7510 - depending on 3g & I wasn't including the 7" devices

Oh okay.. Your first post you said our 10.1 is p71x0 instead of p75x0 which got me confused
ah - ta! It's late and I'm working through until morning on a last min demo app for a client.
I thought it was ironic that another tab got touchwiz before us. Even if it was hacked over, lol.

[Q] Wallpapers problem Galaxy 10.1 32GB Grey

Hello
I bought a tablet GALAXY TAB 10.1 32GB Grey on 14th July 2011
When I touch the screen for a long time, I have to choose the wallpaper.
I have some few wallpapers execpt the blue one wallpaper (honeycomb) in the choice. This one is not present, but it appears in miniature before opening the folder wallpaper!
Does anyone have this problem?
I have tried to make a Hard Reset but nothing better happen.
If anyone can help me about this.
Thank you a lot.
Fabrice Pottier
PS : Sorry for my english, isn't so good. Because i am French.
The stock Honeycomb wallpapers are not there for selection, even though the icon is the Honeycomb image. The wallpapers are present in /system/app/launcher2.apk, but they are blocked for some reason. Rather than trying to figure out a workaround for that, you can just Google Image search and save them to your Tab that way

[Q] Just an interesting idea..

Hello everybody,
One week after I got my SGS2 I realized that the screen is way too big for this resolution (480x800). So I started playing with some screen density changer applications from market. Everything worked well, as I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275768 . But, I had some problems with the Market (couldn't download the most important applications) after I changed my screen's DPI.
Recently I found a software in market (LCD Denisty Modder) which in the Pro version offers you a fix for downloading applications from Market.
Ok, my question is : What if we change the screen density with the one on the Samsung Galaxy Note, and we use a Galaxy Note system dump to get the TouchWiz widgets. Could it work?
It would be nice to see some Galaxy Note wanna-be ROMs and believe me, after you use a lower DPI, you don't wanna come back to the stock density.
What do you think?

There's a limit by how much you change the ppi on the phone. I'm not sure why you'd want some touchwiz widgets from the Note

[Q] [REQ] Method of UNIVERSAL Tablet UI Mod for Gingerbread/ICS

Well I got myself an Epic 4G (OG) with AOKP/CM7/CM9 and a Chinese ICS tablet (I am a Chinese high school student myself...) so I'm easily fascinated by the tablet UI of ICS. Apart from that, once I testdrived CM7 on my tablet and the Honeycomb-style softkey really enlightened me...
So today I was wandering the net and came up with this:
rootzw i ki. com/topi c/20451-mod -9-roms-table t-mode/ [REMOVE SPACES - THE FORUM WON'T LET ME PUT LINKS...]
Well, there's support for tablet UI mod for 9 different ICS roms inside for Galaxy Nexus...
But then look at the version required - it seems that the packs are not just modded for a specific phone, a specific ROM but also for a specific version... So it's kinda useless to me... Tried more search and returned no more results except that someone mentioned that some mods could be done in /res/values/bools.xml of framework-res.apk (I'm no total noob and I know how)...
So question is, is there really a way as detailed as modding DPIs and framework-res.apk to enable tablet mode on ICS? To make it further, is it available for Gingerbread?(i.e. putting FULL CM7 Tablet Tweaks on ALL phones without compiling a new ROM) And for tablets, any way to disable tablet UI as well? (My tablet HAS capacitive keys designed for portrait use like a Galaxy Tab P1000 so I would like to disable Tablet UI for it)
EDIT: Modding DPI only doesn't seem to do it at least on my tablet - DPI from 120 to 240 but results are only bigger nav bar and buttons...
Bump... sinks so fast

Zoom/Stretch for honeycomb rom?

I thought with Honeycomb there is supposed to be an option to zoom or stretch the display for apps that are not meant for tablet displays. Some of my son's math games like "Math Space" need that. I loaded up Cypherom to get that option on our HTC Evo View but I don't get the option (HP Touchpad on ICS and Jellybean has it). Does the official Honeycomb rom have this? Or is it not working for the View for some reason? Thanks.
