Is it possibe to install ubuntu on xperia x10? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to try ubuntu on xperia x10i?

Not properly - i saw many posts with ubuntu over vnc, with touch friendly modified gui. But itin not a fully replacement system

Yes, but will prob require lots of work, ppl have got backtrack running which might b of use/a start.

by now I think its impossible to run ubuntu like we see in other devices, but I guess soooon we'll get many surprises since the bootloader is unlocked. I wanna see some WP7 rom running on my X10

Its been done before. Someone had gotten Ubuntu to work and someone else tested it on the x10. I read it a couple months back so I can't direct you anywhere...

Good link, but as i wrote before (and it is written in your linked thread also) - it still need VNC server, so it is not full system replacement or flash.
I thing this could be used as a geek feature only, because it has dependencies for PC.
So it is not full replacement OS for any phone...

Flash won't work the processor will not support it, the processor on the mini is a Armv6 - Flash requires Armv7.

U gotta be joking me !!!!!!!! Wtf
well I guess x10 is pure crap
so sad I wanted grooveshark free so bad
Soz mate but its fact - a dev got it flash 10.1 working in a round about way on the hero - but it never worked properly. HTC phones with sense have flash lite (this is only really any good for displaying flash ads etc). You require Android 2.2 and a phone with a capable processor (currently only Snapdragons) to be able to run it. Flash would need to be completely rewritten to work on Armv6 devices, which is possible if adobe release the source code - but that aint gonna happen as flash aint open source.
X( stupid flash
is there any way to get grooveshark.com working?
There's an android app for grooveshark.

Do you guys make this crap up as you go or something??
Install 2.2 on an X10 mini and you'll have Flash working
1. Android 2.1 platform doesn't support Flash; It simply won't recognize the plugins
2. You need a capable browser using webkit 3, which again, won't install on a 2.1 platform. As before, the system files must be able to read all the features/instructions incorporated in it.
Installing the latest version of Flash 10.1 on the x10 mini is easy (after a few modifications of course) but getting the phone to recognize the plugins is the problem.
This is the fragmentation most android fanboys refuse to believe exists. Their answer - upgrade your phone: What, every time Google decide to add new features, which is 6 months.

[Q] Avaya Flare

I just got a batch of the Avaya Flare Experience tablets... They sent us ten of them as a part of a major order. (it was cheaper to get the package)
Since these are Android-based, I figure there has to be a way to root them.
Anyone interested in working on this?
I have carte blanche since no one wants one while they're all Avaya'ed up.
If they're rooted as regular Android tablets, I'm sure my team will be interested in them.
Unfortunately, I have no idea where to begin.
Any thoughts on breaking the startup sequence or where to start with rooting these?
Thanks!
Ven
Played around the device on my office was able to load an x86 android live usb boot a bit buggy cam not working and some other stuffs but since the infra project was scrapped its much usable than stock firmware. Not realy sure but if the divers were properly loaded and the usb image repacked with flare drivers would eliminate the bugs in any case its a nice tablet to tinker with
here are some proof of concept pics and stuffs , and yeah need a usb keyboard for input, a usb mouse can also be attach , wifi working, touch working, some games will not run/crash since majority of stuff on google play is not optimized / coded for x86
What was the software that you used ? that version?

If its at firmware level which effectively means we are dealing with hardware level stuff, so that would be a problem.
Note : thanks was by mistake.

[Q] Help would be appreciated!

Hi there, and let me introduce myself. My nickname is Phantoome and i'm new to Android.
I'm coming from an iPhone 3Gs and wanted to try something different.
I ended up buying the Sony Ericsson Xperience Mini Pro SK17i!
It had everything i needed untill i unboxed the phone lol
No seriously, i dig the Android os. Pretty neat tbh.
But i wanted to start modding some stuff about it!
Like first of all removing the factory crap, maybe try a decent theme..
But i've seen all those terms and all for example:
- ROMs (Custom firmware?)
- Flashing (Don't know this one for sure.)
I read i should be rooting the phone to be able to get root access,
or getting a different Android version (ROM?) to make it speed up and look nicer.
I recently figured out that MiniCM7Pro should do the trick for me.
I just don't want anything usefull to be having issues (like the camera, flash, gps, reception, etc..)
So i was wondering if anyone could be having some tips for me here?
Like good tutorials or something, because i noticed there are 100s of them and i don't know where to start really..
I ended up here, which made me end up here to root it first,
Now i'm not sure what to do next as i don't want to brick the phone.
He states:
- Root
- CWM
- Only 2.1.1.A.0.6 SE firmware
- Baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
Click to collapse
If you not 2.1.1.A.0.6, you need to flash FTF file via FlashTool.
Click to collapse
Should i flash the .ftf file he gives, or the stock firmware which i downloaded here (Also from this board somewhere)?
And i'm not sure which baseband i got either, don't think we use that alot here, never had issues with that on my iPhone either.
Update: I have successfully rooted the phone.
Now i think i have to downgrade (Flash?) the sucker.
ROM is the Android itself, in common words (anyone correct me if any mistakes).
Flashing: I think I won't be able to explain that.
And you are in the wrong forum. This is Xperia X10 Mini Pro, and you bought Xperia Mini Pro (without X10, they are different models in almost everything). So ask there and you maybe get a better answer.
Holy crap, how did i not notice? I'd move this thread if i was able to..
But if a mod spots this, move it if you can. I'll await reaction untill then.
Update:
I managed to get CyanogenMod 7 to work on the phone, guess Android wasn't that hard, thanks for all the nice people to help me xD
Only thing that's not working at the moment is my hardware keyboard after i've been in a 4 hour bootloop...
Maybe in a few more hours i get the keyboard to work and i'm at where i want it to be
Update:
Got the hardware keyboard to work! Aren't i a good self learning Android Student! ^^
Now one small thing left.. Getting the hardware keyboard to work azerty style instead of qwerty.
It's only partially now, as my numbers and symbols don't match the layout yet, AZQ&W do.
Update: Works!! And it only took me an hour and a half to figure out thanks to this topic.
Any moderator seeing this, this thread can be closed forgood. I've been succeeding on my own in one day.
Guess Android isn't that hard after all. You just gotta be patient and accept to learn new things.
In 24 hours, more or less.. Coming from an iPhone and haven't even used an Android in my entire life, i:
- Rooted my SE Mini Pro.
- Unlocked my Bootlock.
- Flashed to Cyanogenmod with the help of the FreeXperia tutorial and ROM.
- Fixed my Hardware keyboard input.
- Fixed the language settings of my hardware keyboard.
- Got proud of myself.

And probably some more i forgot to mention! I still have two posts, i hope to increse them soon enough.
Yet i could've made over 20 posts in this topic only if i didn't kept updating my last post lol
Thanks for reading this silly and yet informative thread on how a total noob took the selftraining course in Android.

[Q] Run windows on android [Dual Boot]

So these days i was googling for a way to really install windows 8 on android tablets. I came over a video about a software called "changemysoftware". It seems it would make your devicea dual boot with windows 8 and android. What do you think? Is this fake?

But theres a video of someone installing it on their Android, it dual boots windows 8 and android, but windows 8 was laggy due to his dual core tab. There were 200+ likes and 20+ dislikes so, seems legit, he also uploaded the program onto ZippyShare so that you didn't have to do the survey, but when I tried it tells me the software is outdated and needs to be updated, so I cant do it unless I update it completing the survey...
You do know that it can still be faked right?
Give me half an hour and I'll show you how to install any OS on any device. All that was is a video of something on someone's PC screen.
Okay, I know this I am late for the talk but I think this is best for future questions. Just to be clear for other people who is confused with this scam.
The program is .NET framework based so I decompiled it with .NET Reflector. I got the source and trust me, there is no ADB related code. It is picture and text popping out. Also if you try to rename one of its .DLL file, it is the text "changemysoftware" spamming around to make hundreds kilobytes file. You might think I'm lying so you better see the source itself, download the attachment.
Note: Reflector failed to decompile it into Visual basic or C# so .IL file is only working. Try to find "ButtonX_Click" event in the Form1.il. Pictures and assets are in the .resources file.
fake images only
It's a fake. I just tried without connection any device. it showed as my device locked and have to contact them to unlock. to drag money....

Change my software is fake! But there are many ways to run windows on Android:
Can you install it with BOCHS, but it is Windows XP
Can you use TeamViewer but you need a PC
If you find 2 tablets with the same hardware but one with Android the other Windows one then it is not a problem this dual boot with just a some fix to the bootloader. Or if you collect all of the drivers from windows tablets and find Android tablet with hardware that has win drivers and then mod the windows rom...
Only phone I've ever seen that on was the old HTC HD2.
windows can run on android 100% full speed, i have try it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/zf2-running-windows-7-using-kvm-t3153299/page29
can we really ??
what the oooooo is this i got to play some game or some thing to download it like ooooooossssss rely
I checked tha there is new version: http://changemysoftware.org
Is it still a scam ?
There is a survey on official site I can't complete that survey actually most of the survey can't completed
Thanks you the advise. I trusted it and downloaded the file. Haha

You can't do that, but may be ask a dev to build a Windows arm build may be?
Technically, yes.You can find arm64 windows rom on UUPdump.
But it does not works on any android so we need to develop.
First you need a rooted 64bit phone with twrp and unlocked bootloader.
Then wait for a dev to re-partition device to only /system ,/ recovery and /bootloader.
Then he needs to develop drivers for that device.
That dev also needs to debug a uefi bootloader and after bootting from usb and install windows, thats done.
But it still need a arch converter which is placed in windows installer that can convert X86 or AMD64 apps (.exe)(.msi)into ARM64 apps.
It is hard so no one(at least not me ) can do this and the device-adding speed will be extremely slow.
(You need to re-develop when the cpu is changed. So only the arch-convertor is usable when you are working on a different device.)
[This is the full process to building windows arm64 build ]
Please note that arm32 is not supported.
