Also i am getting random htc force closes. Does anyone have a stock rom with root permission? I just restored my first nandroid back up. It seems all the roms i try have issues, maybe its just me :/

Have you tried xtrSENSE? It's almost exactly stock. If you Nandroid restore stock you can even flash over stock with just a Dalvik cache wipe and keep all of your apps, settings, etc.

Xtrsence was actually the first rom i ever flashed. It worked great! I tried to flash back to that one but had issues. I have also tried gsb 3.9 and a few others i cant remember.

Edit* I dont have a nandroid of stock. Only stock rom with one click root.
Sent from my Eris using XDA App

Well, you can always flash the stock ROM and re-root it.
This is a stock ROM that keeps the custom Recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984274 (if you read that first post, it had a link to engtools.zip, which you can then flash to get root on the stock ROM),
The Flashback_21 will bring you back to stock ROM and stock Recovery, which you can then re-root with the 1-click app (the one without the radio is fine): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792026
Since you are having data issues, I'd wipe data/factory reset before flashing either one.

ROM Manager to update rom

I have axura 2.0.5, when the new rom comes out how will I go about updating to 2.0.6?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Odin back to stock then flash new rom cause I'm not sure when master is putting updates in rom manager
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw
Thanks, do any ROMs use the OTA update?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Not that I know of but pretty soon I'm sure most of the devs will make updates available through there cause a lot of them have there own sites and are slowly pulling away from xda to an extent so it just seems that would be a natural step
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw
I appreciate the info Will. I just downloaded 2.0.6 and I guess I will have to wait until I get home to use odin and reflash!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
You do not need to ODIN back... just flash away. You are on 2.0.5 and there were very little changes for .6.
2.1 is going to be a much bigger jump.
Regarding having his ROMs show in Rom Manager... Master and Koush are working to get it to show up. Master has submitted some things to koush on his github I believe... not certain who needs to take what action.
Should I back up current rom, or wipe data & cache before flashing 2.0.6?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Always make a backup.
The rom will wipe data automatically when you flash it.
Because of this, you should use titanium backup to save all of your apps/data so you can restore them easily.
Already titanium backed up everything. this is what the ROM Manager pops up with when I click on the axura file.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Go to clockwork recovery and try installing it that way

Ahh, you can install this way too.
If you do not have a nandroid backup then yes, check backup. No need to wipe data.
It'll reboot into recovery, backup, then flash the rom.
Most of us reboot to cwr manuallt to flash.

Atrix Rom questions

Hey guys I just bought my Atrix from craigslist a few weeks ago and it came rooted and had greyblur installed. I was wondering if I was to flash a different rom, would I have to wipe or can I just flash over. I wanted to flash gingerblur, also I have a bell Atrix.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I've flashed over ROMS before but GreyBlur is just a themed ROM anyways. It's always recommended that you wipe data/factory reset before you flash anything but you could always make a nandroid backup and then flash over it to see if it messes anything up. Usually the only issue you come across is a hybrid ROM that has features from one or the other.
The first time I flashed a ROM it was GreyBlur and then I directly flashed to GingerBlur without wiping data (I've never wiped data for anything I've done). I've had no problems. I have an ATT atrix.
Ok thanks guys, I used to have a cativate and it was recommended to flash back to stock every time you wanted to flash a new rom, happy I don't have to do that now.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
You don't have to, but in my opinion it's best to. I always flash back to stock before flashing. Makes sure everything is clean, as most ROM's will have been done from a stock base. Sure it takes more time, but it will ensure the best results.

[Q] Life after S-Off

I am having much grief since s-offig last night.
The process succeeded without any issues. I s-offed, re rooted and put on recovery. But when I am going to try new roms, I am having a battle. The only ROM I can get to flash is Stock with Goodies 3.42. CM10, MeanBean, Stock W Goodied 2.08, OMJ will not even flash or boot- it stays on the htc splash for ever/bootloops.
I just tried to flash OMJ again and it froze during Aroma install where you choose the options. Another time it said Symlinks install failed.
Also, I have wiped cache, dalvik, system, and even internal storage and after doing all this, the phone will remember what background I had on the previous flash of Stock with Goodies. !?
I have been flashing for 4 years now. I haven't had so much trouble. Any suggestions? Do I need to flash some Kernel?
It is keeping the wallpaper because you have your Google settings set to back up your phone settings.
For the other stuff. Not sure. What version of twrp are you on?

Find twrp 2.3.3. If you do not have the latest touch panel. S off is the greatest way to use this phone. That should not be a problem but a solution

I would also make sure that your version if software matches the ROM your trying to flash

Unable to flash aosp roms

After running just about every ROM for this device, I recently flashed my first stock based ROM (cooked 1.8). However since this time I've been unable to flash back to any aosp ROM. I get boot looped on every one. I've tried everything. Yet, I can flash cooked again no problem. I know there's something I'm missing. Any help would be great.

You have a nandroid backup right? Restore that then flash whatever you want.

Backup won't boot either. That was my first plan.

Have you tried to format system under mounts and storage after your factory reset, and before you flash your rom and gapps? Just a suggestion. Not sure it will fix you problem or not. It seems as if I had a problem similar to what you are describing after running a Samsung based rom in the past. I believe that was the cure to my issue.

Search for Siyah kernel v4.3.3 in the forums and install, restart recovery and flash away. Should take care of it.

I always have kept that kernel on standby but that didn't work. I've tried every kernel. Can't believe backups won't even boot. I flashed cook's ROM wipe before his ROM the first time, wonder if that did something.

Try Odin to stock and start from scratch. A lot of work but hey what do you have to lose.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
First find a compatible Kernel for the AOSP ROM your trying to flash. Flash that Kernel.
Second, after the flashing is done, reformat the device; cache, dalkiv cache and system and system settings.
Third, reboot into recovery mode from the recovery menu itself.
Fourth, flash the kernel one more time.
Fifth, flash the AOSP ROM of your choice.
Sixth, reboot back into recovery menu.
Seventh, reformat once more.
Eigth, reboot the device.
As you should know, the first boot up after flashing a ROM takes the longest. Give it like a minute or two.
If this doesn't work, you have to flash a kernel that was compatible with the "cooked" rom you were using. Then from there do a reformat from the recovery menu. Once reformat is done, flash the AOSP kernel, then flash the AOSP ROM right after. Then reformat once more and reboot as normal.
If that doesn't work, flash compatible kernel with the "cooked" ROM your using now and also relay the cooked ROM, and then use Odin to bring it back to stock un-rooted. From there, do as you wish.

That is exactly what needed to be done. Mr cook actually has another thread with cwm flashable wipe scripts that would have done that. Quite handy

Note 2 rebooting

I have a note 2 that I kept stock for a long time. And decided to root it about a week ago. I used the latest casual one click root. And it seemed all dandy initially until i went between a few different roms and it decided it wanted to shut off randomly and not boot back up past the note 2 screen on its own. But the odd part was it booted while connected to the wall or to the computer. So I flashed to 4.1.2 stock via odin and the issue still remains. I can only use it fine on charger. Is there something else im missing on flashing back to stock?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Free mobile app
Hmm when you installed 4.3 did you do so wiping everything could be an app causing the problem. Try it from brand new with no apps installed and see if that helps. Could be also a radio issue as well.

Yeah I wiped everything. Actually used odin twice to revert to stock 4.1.2. I tried a few cm nightlies before it began. Is there anything else I should flash on top of whats already been done?

I've found that even after using ODIN to go back to stock 4.1.2, that there's still leftover data on the phone from custom ROM's. I've read where others had the same issue. I don't know why Odin doesn't seem to fully wipe everything ... but this has been my personal experience.
The way I've fixed this (and all this may not be necessary).. . is that after Odin'ing back to stock 4.1.2, I boot into stock recovery, then do a full factory reset and wipe cache. Then I booted into the stock Rom and used the bypass setup trick (touch the left side of the screen right above Emergency... then right side, then left, then right again, and then volume up... this should bypass setup to save time).
Then went into phone's settings and performed a factory reset from within the stock Rom too...
Finally... (because I'm a bit OCD... so this is probably not necessary), but I ODIN'd back to stock 4.1.2 one more time and then proceeded with using CASUAL again to root /unlock the bootloader).
I know this is a pain in the butt... but this has worked for me. Maybe others will have some better suggestions.
(Edit : Forgot to mention that if you're not wanting to return to stock to start over again... check out this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53624921) on how to flash a stock recovery for the purposes of doing a proper data wipe... then can you odin your custom recovery back to the device without having to fully restore to stock... this can be a real time saver. Please make sure to thank the OP for the helpful info).
So in the end I tried to reset from stock recovery and wipe cache. Than do a reset from the settings and the issue presisted. But now I have root and recovery as well. So I may give a rom a try.

This is totally a guess, but I'm thinking that you may have a battery problem... and it's just a coincidence that these problems started happening around the same time that you rooted. You may try replacing the battery to see if that fixes things.... (you can get one pretty cheap off ebay or Amazon).
Yeah thats odd. I had bought another battery from a phone store I use to work at and have no issues now, back on 4.1.1 rooted.
