is it possible to run WM6 on the xperia mini pro? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

has anyone considered porting WM6.1 or (6.5) to this device?
it's a strange request i know, but i am very interested to know if it's possible. i read that the X1 and X2 ran WM6 so i thought that might be a starting point if some of the drivers would be similar.
the background to this is that i have 50 guys running around the countryside with HTC HD2s operating in a DIY kiosk mode, doing farm audits on a WM6 app i've developed for a client. these devices are discontinued now and running out of supply. i'd like to stick with the Windows platform and the range of WM7 devices is very poor, and don't get me started on the Marketplace publishing bureaucracies. WM6 is a great platform for business use, and i'm curious to know if it will ever run on the excellent range of android devices?

AFAIK, Windows Mobile isn't open source and it hasn't ported to android devices.
But I think it's possible to run Windows 95.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

PocketPC Word Mobile on Smartphone?

This may be the wrong forum, but all the geniuses hang out here. As we know smartphone lacks word mobile, but in theory there is no reason why it would not run, and also run well without a touch screen.
I manage to install Textmaker to the Windows Mobile Smartphone emulator. It runs fine, but does not provide for one-handed usage.
Is it possible to rip word mobile from a pocketpc ROM and make it installable on smartphone OS? Devices like the Samsung i320 and Moto Q would definitely benefit.

Titan Video Drivers

Anyone remember the fiasco with missing video drivers for the 6800?
I was wondering if there has been any progress from HTC, or from individual users, in providing some basic video drivers for the Mogul.
I can't stand the sluggish UI! What options do I have? What have you guys done to your phones to make it better?
Also, I've been running Android 1.0, and it seems like it runs OpenGL ES demos just fine. So does Android have its own drivers for Qualcomms, too?
Edit: Is Android *capable* of being flashed to the Titan? Being run without the overhead of Winmo? And does Winmo actually run entirely in the background? That sounds awful!
the MSM7xxx drivers were released at least for most devices but i dont know if titan supports them. if you have tested wm6.5 latest releases you'll see it runs pretty good for a device that was actually for wm5.
on the android thing, i guess it is "possible" to flash android but its too dangerous so i think that might be the reason it hasnt been done.
winmo doesnt run in background, after Haret is executed it shutsdown winmo completly, if this is not done then android cannot be ran due to the lack of ram.

Airphone No. 1 Android Port?

Is this even possible? I think that device has a potential. It's the crappy software that is preventing me from purchasing it. It would be nice if someone developed true android ports for those cheap Chinese mobile phones so poor college students like myself who do not wish to be locked to a contract can get a cheap phones. I finally found that the Airphone has a processor with the following specs:
Mtek MT6235 ARM9 core, 208MHz Speed CPU
I read somewhere that Android needs at least 200mhz to run, so this processor should be able to support it, right? I am interested in getting into the mobile hacking scene for Android, but I do not know where to begin. If I purchased this mobile phone (its cheap, I can get it for 89$) which tools would I require to begin hacking it?
Yes, I know this mobile phone does not have 3G, but I have no use for that technology on a phone because I have other means of accessing the internet. I like this mobile because it is very very slim, about the same size as my ipod touch. I know so many other people would purchase this phone if it had android instead of the sucky iPhoney OS.
Many thanks!
So many views yet no replies. Do you think I would have better luck asking this in the Official Google Android developer forum? Or is this type of chinese technology as unknown and elusive as I figured it would be?
if the mtek run winmobile
you can try to start android whit haret
i think that the cpu is the same of htc opal(omap 850)
look here
http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/wing-linux/wiki
It doesnt run windows mobile unfortunately. It runs a weird OS called "MTK OS", which apparently is a modified version of Nucleus OS.
Hey thanks for your responses! I will take this to the Official Google Android Forum.
Looking to for something like Airphones
I want to play the video on my pc monitor
and steam the audio of this video on my android phone to listen with headphones
linux port
Hello,
some russian guys made a linux port to MT6235 (Google: Linux'у на MT6235 быть (инструкция прилагается))
Starting an Android kernel would be trivial, but RAM is not enough, so Android on MT6235 is useless.

Windows (all versions) on transformer/prime?

I just want to ask you if, now that the bootloader can be unlocked, there are some possibilities to have win on this tablet... all the version are acceptable.. (2000 and upper) if there's not an emulator, are there chance of do it in the near future?
I've seen the page where is explained how to install 2000/XP on the htc evo3D, could it work also whit the transformer?
Your best hope is for Windows 8 which will support ARM processors. All windows version currently available do not support ARM. Also once windows 8 comes out it will require some development to get it to work.
You can have Windows 3.1 running on it now with DOSbox
But I really don't think that any version of Windows will ever work on the TP (although with XDA devs who knows?). The only Arm-based windows available are Windows CE and Windows 8. CE will never work outside of emulators, and MS has said themselves that they will not be supporting any kind of x86/64 emulators in order to run the 99% of Win software available today. So you will be stuck with what software devs decide to port or write from scratch.
Also, MS has said that it will not be selling licenses to end users. They will only be released on hardware. Doesn't mean someone won't pull it off of there and tweak it, but it is not going to be available like XP/ 7 is.
What do you need windows for that you can't do on Android or Ubuntu?

[Q] Windows Phone on Streak?

No one interested in porting Windows Phone 7.x to the Dell Streak?
Trigger for me is the perfect working port on the HTC HD2, where both Android and Windows Phone 7.x are running. On this phone the Windows Phone version realy runs smoothly, far more better than the Android version.
My conclusion would be that since Android run smoothly on the Dell Streak, Windows Phone should really fly on our device!
So, is it (im)possible?

it is not that we dont want to port.. but the thing is no working driver for streak 5... so... you have to understand this...
Well, was worth to try. Just couldn't imagine the impossibility since the HTC HD2 is able to run both. But the lack of working drivers is indeed a valid point. Well, I'm happy with my DSC 1.4 on my streak, so sticking on this version.

I like your post! I was a die-hard "win-mo" every since my first htc tilt. But when the tilt-2 whipped my äš$ after 3 replacements I swore off and went to "Stepford Mens Association" and was cloned into an android and loved it every since! Never in a million megabytes had one decimal of interest in crapple phonage. But would like to see your idea in action. Cool !

you cant compare device that come from default windows vs native android you know... there also licensing issues might surface up whenever we involve ourselves in windows product you know.. that includes the driver.. you know those giant really have no mercy if it does not profits them :silly:
Hahahahaha......when you post the rom then microsoft will send you a legal letter.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
Licenses are the least of the issue, it's all drivers.
The HD2 and the tsunagi are the only non WP7 devices to get WP7, do you want to know why? Because microsoft and HTC/Toshiba made the drivers as those were the devices they used when they were initially building WP7.
The HD7 is basically a HD2+WP7, but they're different enough that the HD2's cam still has issues (or so I hear).
The only (realistic) way you're going to get WP7 at this point is to build a time machine and go back and convince dell to convince MS to reuse the S5 as a WP7 device in the same way the venue/venue pro are a pair.
