Playing PSP games in the future? - Sony Tablet S

Hi there. I wanted to buy a cool tablet, and searched through all Android tablets out there. The ones that kept my attention were Sony Tablet S and Asus EEE Pad Transformer (but eee pad has some screen problems, is somehow big and it's a kind of a laptop after all).
After watching some Tablet S videos, I saw something amazing. You can play PS1 games with a controller: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=qx_XvUEUoP4
And then another thought, maybe sometime in the future, we could play PSP games... that would be totally incredible and awesome. That's what tablets should be for, to replace laptops, but at the moment they aren't as popular as the laptops, so they need something to get attention. Maybe a tablet with a controller that can play PSP and PS2 games? If that's so, this tablet can do it.
I'm waiting for a response regarding future development of porting and being able to play PSP ans PS2 games to this tablet.

I definitely agree with you; I also think this thread would be best off in the "general" section since it's more general commentary... Just a thought for the mods...

I don't think you can play PS2... but IF NOT MISTAKEN you will be able to play PS and PSP games....

I will hawk my GO in a HEARTBEAT if the PSP games bit is true.

We already can

Gaming on the Transformer Prime (my take)

So, I received my TF Prime on christmas evening I have personally never owned a tablet but have had several Android Devices and was able to play your typical puzzle and tower defense games on them without any problems besides slight performance issues. I mainly wanted the Prime for the gaming and I can honestly say this thing can handle anything I have thrown at it.
I first downloaded a bunch of classics, like Cut the Rope, Angry Birds, PvZ, and as expected they ran smooth as silk and looked better than ever on the Super IPS display. Next I loaded up some emulators, Mame, NES, Genesis, Super Nintendo they all ran excellent.
Then it was time to really see what the Tegra 3 could do, so I tried the Glowball Demo and RipTide Demo and was pretty impressed both game ran smooth and looked and sounded great, super easy controls. I needed to see more. I purchased ShadowGun from the Nvidia Tegra Zone app and was completely floored Visually and performance wise I couldn't believe I was playing this on a tablet, Console quality graphics smooth performance and most importantly fun! If this is any indication of the type of games and performance I can expect from the TF Prime and the Tegra 3 I am 100% satisfied with this tablet Anyone who is on the fence about getting the TF Prime and want to use it for gaming don't be, just get it. You will be happy you did I am content with my TF now and with ICS coming down the road things will only get better.

I'm pretty sure they don't cause gameloft hate Asus.
(why else their game aren't made available for the original Transformer ?
I'm sure Gameloft games will become available to use on prime. there will always be wrkarounds. plus we still great games like teg3 version of Dead Space and more to be released. check out my thread in themes and apps section of prime. its called Prime/Tegra3 Gamers thread. we list what's known to be working so far and more. there's alot of great games out for Android already. coming from using my Ipad, I was surprised at how much Android had. initially I was worried cuz I have all the best games on my Ipad and feared Android would severely be lacking. not the case at all. Android is catching up in the games department and have some really good ones out there. Tegra3 version of Shadowgun owns my Ipad version, which looks great also.
I played Shadow Gun THD at gamestop (my ATP comes tomorrow) and it was crazy how detailed and smooth the game was! If they can get more support for optimized games who knows how many incredible games we'll see!
While shadowgun is amazing and stunning my favorite is riptide
I too purchased the prime for gaming mostly and was very pleased when playing the available games. But I'm disappointed that gameloft games are not available for the prime. It is Gamelofts fault but end result is still can't play it. I think Dead Space is the same since I couldnt find it in the Market either.
Once root is available you can probably change build.prop to make market think you have a different device but that will prevent you from seeing tegra 3 optimized games so youd have to switch back and forth between two build.prop. But still this isnt guaranteed games will still work correctly.

Dead Space is offically coming to Android. The tegra3 version. not released yet, I believe. A couple people said they had it already but its not tegra3 version n more than likely a hacked version.
How ease it to hook up the PS3/360 controller via blue tooth with TP. No way I'm playing games like Dead Space with a touch screen.
ps3 controller is compatible natively through BT on the prime, the xbox controller needs to be plugged in via usb (which means you need the dock) to work, but it also natively supported that way.
the games also have to have gamepad support enabled, which shadowgun (iirc) does.

I think by prime having better battery life, a fifth core, best.display, and a beefier gpu from.Nvidia, it just might be. Of course the vita will be strictly game focused plus backing of Sony. so prime would probably produce better looking games since more powerful. the vita is no slouch also but you have to remember two different platforms. vital will have strictly games for it, mostly. prime will have some of everything and as time passes there will be alot of great games optimized for tegra3. the vita does look cool though. I had the original PSP when it first came out. I loved it. I have a good feeling the vita will be a hit considering how powerful it is and the great visuals, compared to other handhelds, it can produce.

Possible future emultator?

I am just taking a shot in the dark here but but couldn't it be possible to emulate the PS Vita on the prime since they both use the Quad-Core ARM Cortex A9. I don't remember how the gpu's stack up against each other but the specs are pretty close. Only thing would be that it is an emulation and that even though they share similar components it may still not be possible.
I highly doubt the vita would be possible as the devise emulating must have 4 times the processing power, but while we're on that note I would love to see a psp emulator or maybe even a GameCube emulator or a dream cast emulator. Anybody thinks this would be possible? These 3 systems are about a decade old now and should thearedicaly be possible. I know I would pay 20 bucks if my games were playable on my prime!
Could be possible because of the fact that the processors are similar it would be sweet if we could just dual boot with the PS Vita OS

could be possible or porting the games over to us to make it easier. One thing though this NeoDeoid(NeoGeo Emulator) that I have one my prime is sick! I've been playing Metal Slug3, Last Blade2, Double Dragon Fighting Game, EightMan, and Fatal Fury1. They all look n play great on the Prime. Only thing is its a hit or miss finding the NeoGeo Roms that work. I've ran thru a bunch and found those ones I've listed to work so far. FPse(PlayStation) emulator works good also. The roms be huge though..lol. I have my X-Men Vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, and Einhander on it. Its so crazy playing these fighting games on the Prime now.
A dreamcast and Gamecube one could easily be done if someone made am emulator for it. I'd want a 3DO or Sega Saturn Emulator Also. Good old SnesDroid and GeneDroid(Genesis and Sega Master System)plays whatever you through at it basically. its when you get to emulators requiring a BIOS that things get tricky and not every game wants to work. Or even better an Xbox emulator is possible also. Prime has more than enough muscle for it.
I remember reading something about their being some sort of sony SDK that allowed you to offer your games for the vita and Tegra 3 devices idk where but this would be exactly what we need!

here you go. sounds great! Article says Tegra3 should easily be able to push n play PS vita games. Also that future PlayStation certified devices will include Tegra3 chipset. Sony and Nvdia have a good partnership going. Plus we can expect PlayStation classics and vita games to roll out very soon for Prime.

yeah i was just emulating a ps1 game and without the filtering off it was able to almost get 100 FPS which is really good! we can almost push some PS3 games if we can push VITA games cuz the graphics are so close!

[Q] Are Sony games interchangable between devices?

I am thinking of buying a Sony S1. I will be buying a Vita, already have a PSP, PS3 and Play.
My questions are about the games; so far I have only bought a few downloadable games from Sony for both the PS3 and PSP.
1. As with Android, can I purchase one game and play the game on multiple devices (I am really just thinking of the Vita and S1)?
2. What games will play on the S1. I have read on this site PSone games. But what about old PS2 games?
3. Are there lots of Sony games available for the S1 or will I struggle to find my old favorites?
Thanks and sorry if some of the questions are vague.
From what I can see it is no different than what you can play on your Play. E.g. a few ps1 games. Almost certain that ps2 games will never be supported. If you have the original ps1 games get fpse and then you can emulate them on the play and s1

GTA3 was originally a PS2 game
1. No, if you buy a game for the tablet s it will not be available on your vita, ps3, etc. Sucks, I know, cause I have multiple devices as well. They have to format/emulate the games differently. Hopefully in the future they'll streamline it, so for now I'm hesitant to purchase too much.
2. Officially I think it's only psone games now, but unofficially you can download emulators from the market that'll run just about anything and some of them will work with the native PS3 controller support as well!
3. There are about 12 in the "official" Sony store with more stated to come. There is, of course, the emulator alternative in the market and that will open up the window to just about whatever you want.
Thanks for all the replies, they have all been very helpful
I am thinking about buying the S1 and wanted to know if integration with Sony games would be a deciding factor.
For me, based on the replies I don't think it will bean important factor in my decision.
It seems that there are not that many games, they are all old and it sounds like I would need to buy multiple copies (or run emulators).
However I am still very tempted by the S1. I particularly like the form factor.
Thanks again
Games bought from PS Store on tablet, 'should' be re-downloadable on other playstation certified devices (Xperia Play, PSVita .etc) From within the PSStore app. It worked for me! I now have 5 free PS1 Games bought on my tablet on my Xperia Play.
To clarify Sony tablet games bought from PS Store should work on PSVita as it is playstation certified and part of the same ecosystem! Hope it helps!

[Q] Leauge of legends on android tablet?

Hey guys, So i'm new to the tablet world. I'm not sure what tablet i'm going to buy but at the moment i'm leaning towards the asus eee pad transformer prime. It looks like a pretty slick product. Any thoughts on that are welcome
But for my main question. I was going to buy this and use it as a video player at work until i saw the keyboard dock. Now i want a tablet that i can play some games on. Not just android apps. Maybe java based web games? And maybe even league of legends if possible.
I'm not sure if this is possible on this device or any at this time. A friend told me to wait for a windows 8 tablet but its not even sure that those can do it. So any advice in this area would be amazing
Thanks
Well I'm not really into tablet gaming, and I play some games on my TFP from time to time. As far as I know you can get gamepads working on the TFP. For LoL there is no Android version as far as I know. But I kinda successfully played Starcraft2 and Diablo 3 on the tablet with the Splashtop THD app... it basicly screens your desktop on the tablet. So you have to have you computer running and stuff. Also a good connection is needed for the streaming. But it's fun
I don't have the Internet speeds to remote to my computer and do it that way. So maybe I would be better off waiting on windows 8 tablets

[Q]Searching for a Realtime Strategie game for Tablets

I have an XBox 360 and played a lot of Halo Wars on it. This was in opinion an awesome RTS game which i barely miss on a plattform like android. The thing I liked the most was to have different units like infantery or vehicles. It does not have to be like Halo Wars but in a way at least. Something like Tom Clancy's End War or RUSE were favorites of mine too. Is there any game that is similiar to those games I mentioned for android? My device is a Asus Transformer TF300. I'm also wondering why there hasn't been a game like this earlier? Tablet are perfect for this kind of genre
