SD Card From Inspire - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I have a 32gb card from my inspire I would like to use, all my music and some videos. It also has my titanium backups. Can I safely put this card in without messing something up?

It should. Don't see why it wouldn't work. Lol
Don't know about the titanium backup apps. But music and vidoes should be fine

The Titanium Backup(s) should work fine...but it does depend on each individual app and if it is compatible with your new SGSII. In general, Titanium Backup works on the SGSII. I wouldn't recommend "restoring" system apps from your Inspire, however. That may cause issues.

I seem to remember seeing a video of a 64gb SD card being properly read and used on a GSII.

And I have read that the SGS2 "officially" supports SD cards up to 32GB...so it sounds as though the OP would be OK with the 32GB card. Frankly I'm surprised such an advanced phone doesn't support cards even bigger than 32GB.

Does anyone sell a micro SD card that's bigger than 32gb? I'm fairly sure the vid I saw said that the 64gb used wasn't available to the public yet.

Actually, as soon as you put the card in your phone, a message pops up stating "All Your Base Are Belong To Us - HTC".
Only joking, you won't have any issues whatsoever whether it be the phone recognizing the card or your titanium backups. Obviously, you already know about having the phone detect the location of your backups. That would be the only thing to take into account. As someone stated earlier, make sure you don't restore any system apps because that can cause issues. Also, you don't want to replace any apps that are on the phone with your backups because that can cause issues as well.
All in all, you should be safe for whatever you are trying to do.
Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of Galaxy S.

I just moved my Micro SD card from my Inspire to my Galaxy. The card already had backups, titanium backups, apps, music, etc. All read on the S2 with no issues what so ever. I had it loaded to nearly 25 gigs and it took a matter of seconds for my phone to scan it.

[Q] Phone won't detect anything above 8gb micro sd

Hey guys I took my sdcard out of the phone formatted it and when I put it back in the phone it now wont detect the sdcard and also it wont detect internal storage also...
EDIT: or nvm I rebooted it a couple times but now it detects the phone storage but when I put in my 16gb micro sd it does nothing until I remove it. When I remove it, it shows that it has been removed, but before that it doesn't show a sdcard is inserted... Yet when I put an 8gb one it it shows that it's in the phone...
Well we just discovered that our phones say there is no external storage at all. From best buy.

I concur with this statement.
I too have a 64 gig card and I formatted it in the phone. The phone sees it as 59+gigs which is cool. But what I am trying to figure out is how to save or move apps to the actual sd card. Not phone storage that is the 9+ gigs, but the actual 64 gig card.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
I don't think there is a way to do this right now with out changing the mount points

The thing is that the phone doesn't even detect that i've inserted the card. When I insert the 8gb card it shows preparing the sd card and it gives me all the options to unmount/format/everything else. When I put the 16gb one in everything is still grayed out and it doesn't even think i've inserted a micro sd card.

So how hard is it to do that and/or how soon before you think it could happen? It seems though HTC could maybe do something or is just the way Android is. It just seems that it should just be a part of it. LOL. I mean I already have some music on the sd card by creating the folder...I just don't want to run out of space on my phone.
Ok, i'm going to bestbuy in a little bit to pick up a 32gb micro sd and see if it'll work with that...

[Q] New 64 Gb micro Sd advice?

Hello All,
Like many others I have started purchasing my accessories early, so that they are ready when I get my Note 2 delivered to my door. I just received my micro SD card, and I have a few questions. I am wanting to have all my music and pictures loaded onto the SD card prior to the phone arriving. My only questions is would it be better to keep it in the format that it was sent in which was exfat, or should i format it to Fat32? I did do a search but I was unable to find a definitive answer which was best. It sounds like the note 2 can support both formats. Also most people leaned toward the exfat due to it not having the 4gb size file limitation, but I have not heard anyone successfully doing this even with it as exfat.
Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
I would ask the international folks since they actually have the device.
That being said, I will use exFAT as long as their isn't a drop in I/O performance.

Just a note about the sd cards for this phone. I talked to a Samsung rep last night and asked them what size, speed and file format works in the Note II. He said up to a 64GB Class 10 card formatted to FAT32 will work, and that it can be formatted in the phone.
I just wanted something official since I was reading so many conflicting posts on-line about what works and what doesn't.
I'm using 64gb formated exfat and have no issues. See the file sizes?

I just bought a new 64gb for my note and it doesn't work. I tried to format it and couldn't and then I put it in my friends note 2 and it formatted and worked fine. When I got mine I could not get it to work, there are several threads around on this, most say to format it using your phone which did not work for me. As I recall I ended up formatting with my PC and I had to use FAT32 filesystem. The ext32 filesystem that is suppose to handle 4GB files would not work for me.

SD Card problems

Had one of my 32gb micro's crap out on me today. Of course it was my more valuable to me card. Popped it my laptop to grab some files for a new Novena flash only to get a "must be formatted." Fired up testdisk 6.13 to have a peek at the partition before panic set in, just to find it detected as 32mb. Was a genuine Sandisk. Not impressed. Can't for the life me get the partition repaired. I'm fine with taking the data loss now, but can't get it to format. Going to try HP Drive Key Boot Utility once I borrow someone's WiFi in the a.m.

i read a thread here in the forums, cant post the link though, "sd card becomes lil slower when the memory is almost full or completely full..
btw go for class 10 which gives 10Mb/s r/w speed...class 2 is very slow...
so even if the memory card is 8gb class 10 it will show some performance..but 32gb class4 will be fine..but at some times u will feel it has become rather slow.." i didnt see if you mentioned what class the SD card was. hope this helps a little.
My genuine 32GB SanDisk MicroSDHC UHS-1 Class 10 card did the same thing almost immediately after I got it in Septemeber. It eventually died after two months of use. SanDisk RMA'd it, and I'm waiting for the replacement. I'm expecting that the replacement will also die... I think our phones is killing these SanDisk UHS-1 cards.
Mine was a week shy of a year old. Be my last SanDisk. Doubt it's our Notes doing it though. Had mine in and out of a Captivate, S2, Note dozens of times.

This thread is defeinetly interesting. I originally had a patriot 16GB class 10 (excellent card BTW), as I began to run out of storage I decided to buy this sandisk ultra 32GB HC1 supposebly read/write speeds are better than class 10? Wrong.. my speeds dropped even with tinkering with system tuner/ SD settings didn't seem to help much.. I have screenshots somewhere of both cards tested and compared.Well besides that One month goes by and my device kept trying to randomly read and scan the card as if I just turned the phone on? Games and apps wouldn't start saying app not installed? Eventually the card crapped out asking for a reformat, luckily I backed up the card before it crashed. I sent it back to Sandisk they RMA'ed me a second one I'm using now.. going on two weeks no issues so far. I'm thinking maybe there's a bad lot out there?

Sdcard

Has anyone ran into a issue with their sdcard and their Note2?
Last night I used my Note2 with no issues. Woke up this morning and noticed I had a alert message saying that the sdcard had been unexpectedly unmounted. Couldnt get the sdcard to remount. The phone wouldn't/couldnt reconize thw sdcard. And even my laptop couldn't reconize it. But the phone reconized a different sdcard, so I know the phone reader is still working. But this is a Lexar 64gb class 10 xc sdcard. Not some cheap trash. I lost my nandroid backups, movies, pics, etc....
Just glad I wasn't running the Jellybeans v18 on the sdcard swap selection. Then I wouldn't be able to use my phone period. Lmk if you have seen these sdcards go out before. Just beware!!!

What he's referring to is JellyBeans additional "SD Swap" feature which basically makes your phone see your SD Card as the internal storage. I don't know why he thinks his phone wouldn't work though, as with any phone the Internal Storage/SD Card is not required for the device to operate.

I've ran into this issue with Lexar jump drives and had to use command prompt in W7 to make them work again. It always happened when I would write a Linux distro to the drive to use as a bootable disk.
The fix requires you completely wiping the drive, which the two jump drives in question that I always have issues with are actually micro SD card readers with whatever size card in them.
Here is the link explaining how to fix it:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/219693/unable-to-format-usb-stick-to-full-capacity/
What I have to do though is select the disk drive and once in it I have to use the Create Partition Primary command instead of selecting a partition because on my drives there are no partitions and it won't even show up under Computer most of the time. Give it a shot and see if it gets you back up and running, if not you may have a faulty card that Lexar needs to replace.
