[Q] Notification drop down and clashing colours, a fix? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have noticed a slight annoyance on the SGS2. Some of my apps seems to be using a black colour when I pull down the notification bar, which makes them very hard to see and/or read unless under appropriate lighting.
But is there a fix available that will FORCE all colours to at least not just be black so they are easier to see?

As you can see both Beautiful Widgets and Lookout Mobile security uses a colour that is hard to read on the SGS2 running stock roms, but is there a way to fix this in a generic form, or is it a "bug" with the apps themselves?

The apps are expecting the default white background of Gingerbread. The only way to fix it is to change the image to white and the stock text color to black.

My Rom is stock. Thus leading me to expect those two apps are out of date for GB. And I don't really want a white background on my notification pulldown.

Beautiful Widgets lets you change the color of the text in the notification, if I'm not mistaken. Look somewhere in the settings.

That's what Gingerbread is supposed to look like. Samsung changed the colors around resulting in this problem.

Nero v5 with Touchwiz notification bar?

Is there a way you can replace the gingerbread like notification bar with the one that comes with the stock Vibrant?
I'm hoping that there's a way of making it larger, because it feels like the icons are a bit tight up there. I can't really read the battery percentage because the numbers are a little small.
Any ideas how we could change that as well?

made this for myself but you can use it. This makes the numbers larger and eaiser to see but it also makes a few other changes. This changes the GPS icon, the vibrate icon/silent icon, and the it puts back the 3g icon instead of the H

This does not change the pull down notification bar!!
I would like to see this, all the themes out there are various colors of the gingerbread icons...
Gunner this looks great. How do I instal this?
Got it, thanks
What if we just took the framework from a touchwiz rom and replaced the icons?

Just install the KA5 modem and the status bar will change to the default.

[Q] Notification area text colour (Black on dark grey background)

In the notification area, the black text is on a dark grey background. How do I fix this?

Its porbably an app issue as froyo has a whitr notification bar. Is it only those specific ones that are black?

Hrmm, that appears to be the issue.I suppose I'll have to wait for apps to get updated then? :-/

I'd like to see a fix for this too
Because it's hard to see Downloads and Player Pro notifications
Still no resolution to this problem then...?
It's weird that some notifications are white text, and some are black (see screenie below....)
As you can see, the BBC News one, is still in black (even with the latest updated version App.... ) ....but it's not the only culprit!
'Is' it an app issue, I wonder I've emailed the Dev again to see if there's an option for notification text colour...watch this space!!
Yeah I've been having this issue with the CNN app, damned irritating.
I've got the same problem, I installed leomars rom today, and the themes are all black, now the notification text is normally white, but I've come across some apps that use black text in the notifications.
Which makes it unreadable, is this normal? Do the apps dicate what colour the text is? I assumed it would be the theme.
Any advice would be appreciated as it's bugging the hell out of me.
Yepp I got the same problem from several apps, Facebook, CNN, Twitter etc.
Anyone come up with a solution, like changing a value in framework-res.apk or twframework-res.apk .. dont really know so I googled around and said to say couldnt find a lot on this issue.

Question to HUBs experts...

How in the world can I get my background/bar to stay behind my widget buttons?
I have tried everything I can think of but whenever the screen rotates the background covers the buttons so I have to remove the background and readd it...PIA
This is why I am hoping someone will build an app to do this for us
Here is what I mean:
How it should look, all icons bright white and clickable

}
Here is how they look after I rotate the screen, grey (because they are behind the bar now) and unclickable (it just opens the MinimalisticText settings screen to adjust the background widget).
Are the combined horizontal-and-vertical text widgets not possible to make with MinimalisticText? I've never had this issue because my black "shadows" are one in the same as the text that's written on them.
If you're putting ADW Launcher actions to other pages underneath the icons, and are using two separate widgets to create the text and background shadow, does that mean you're overlapping 3 icons on top of each other?
Yea and for some reason the page navigation icons never get messed up...they are made in "Simple Text"
Maybe I should try the 3 stack on everything
I tried making the bottom bar all one with text and shadow, but if you don't make them all separate widgets then its impossible to line up the text with the grid (for clickability).
Alright, I think I understand well enough. Unfortunately I will be useless when it comes to helping people who use the SimpleText method, as I have my hubs set up using only ADW and Minimalistic Text.
same thing happens to me. Seems to be a orientation bug. Keep turning the unit. Until it becomes bright white again.

LED Notification Color Bug

Does anyone have this problem?
I'm on a Rogers i747M s3, and the same color mapping occurs in apps like Whatsapp, GoSMS, and the one in the video.
When I dial *#0*# to check the LED, the problem doesn't occur. So it's not a hardware problem (thankfully)
Anyone have any insight on this? Is it Samsung's fault? Fault of the US/Canadian carriers? Google's fault?
Anyhow, I'm going to move away from the stock rom pretty soon so I'll check to see if anything changes.

My SPRINT version wouldn't blink at all. I use handcent for messaging, and could only get a red solid light for notification. I tried different settings within the app itself, to no avail.
I flashed Blazer 1.5 and had the same results. I backed up, then restored my apps and data when I moved to 1.6. Not sure what happened, but it flashes blue for messages now. The funny part is, the only option within the app itself now, is led blink. There used to be options for color and frequency. Not sure what happened, so I'm just rolling with it
Sent from me and my SG3
It's the US/Canadian versions, the led firmware is done different. That's why most third party app notifications don't work right. And any custom led color app's don't display the right color on the led. Just give it a little time and they should eventually work properly.

[Q] Notification bar and Quick Settings.

I would like to know what makes the notification bar have quick setting option. I like how there are two tabs on the bottom, one for notifications and quick setting, like the way it's setup in AOSP Nightmare ROMs. I like Sportsstar's because of the stock look and feel so how can I have both. I have copied the rosie.apk from the AOSP version and that didn't do it, and tried several things that cause failure to loads. I am slowly running out of ideas. Any thoughts?
What Rom are you trying to do this on?
Sent from my Amaze using Tapatalk 2
Sports Nightmare Sense 4 ROM, I think I figured something out but it fc's every three minutes or so.
I put a link below that takes you to the apps and themes section and I flashed the blue venom theme that gives me the quick settings. It works great..no FC or anything(for me at least). I'm on nightmare 1.6. I have the blue. It also flashes messages 4.5 though (you can change background with any image in your gallery, FC with HTC backgrounds) and in the case that you don't like it..you might want to back up your original message app with that titanium back up or something.
This is what mine looks like
