Use flashtool. Download a firmware.ftf file and just flash...
Just like aR_chris said. Download the right kernel for the desired rom, flash the kernel, flash the rom and your good too go just did thr same. Went from cm9 to cm7.2

So far v12-4 is for unlocked bootloaded version. Not for locked bootloaded version. So you can't find zip file, for now.

So far, with this kernel, I have the most stable system I ever had on my X10. So smooth, reactive, and stable!
This will work for only Xperia u 6.1.1.B.1.54. (I don't know whether it works on Xperia s and p)

Flash the kernel with flashtool in fastboot or by fastboot with android usb.

When u flashed it then you get cwm. For getting root we should download su.zip in the link.

Brains kernel has an autoroot function..
No need to flash d supersu or superuser zip..
(Unless ofcourse u need supersu instead of superuser)

1.flash b.1.100 firmware
2.lets it boot normally
3.flash b.1.10 kernel(how can I flash only kernel?)
4.root and Cwm by Bin4ry

Well you can give a shot to both kernel if one doesnt works you can try the other. And to flash only kernel, in flashtool exclude evereything except kernel and dont wipe anything

Well you can ask one of the XU users to send you the kernel.sin and then you can pack it as ftf(u can use my ftf maker tool) and finally flash with flashtool. It must work Someone correct me if I'm wrong

I am using sony live with walkman wt19i... build number 4.1.B.0.587... i have unlocked its bOotloader... but i m unable to rOot it.. My phone is detected in flashmode in flashtOol but it automatically disconnects after evry 30 sec.... i have tried almost all the ways on xda to rOot it..
jst like other phones, isnt there any file which can be flashed using CWM on mobile and i can rOot my device from mobile itself..? If any can you please give me the link?

No you can't flash the kernel from the phone, you need a PC and flash it using fastboot
For all the kernels check development forums

See if you want a custom kernel then flashtool is the only way.
But if you only want root use this tool.. I have the same phone and it worked like a charm for me..
