Baseband and firmware i guess. Or maybe i am wrong. But On my experience ive tried using other fw and my signal was low, change back to fw of my country and viola got a full bar on my network. ( tested on the same spot ). Or maybe just a lucky glitch.

To create a rooted system.img for others:
install xRecovery, use xRecovery to flash original system.img, while still in recovery, push su to /system/bin/ and superuser.apk to /system/app.
chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
chmod 755 /system/app/superuser.apk
now, reinstall xRecovery (3 files to /system/bin/)
Ok, done.
Reboot to xRecovery, create backup, share system.img from your backup.
P.S. i believe flashing kernel.img only from new update should be enough, other improvements are only in timescape ui, don't think anyone cares.

1-Fells faster overall
2-Multitouch is not implemented
3-Unlock animation is more fluid and more responsive
4-the keyboard is now white and grey, like HTC: i really impressing this one. Cute.
5-unlike the the previous 2.1, every time you close apps its goes back to the application list not Home screen

Not 2.2 SE start working on 2.3
They have started working for gingerbread but it doesnt mention its for x10 or x8
Thats what worries me!
But before that the new X12 will have 2.2 android with mean that SE can and will release 2.2 first this year and after that the X12 will get an update to 2.3
I know there is no big changes, but I'm just to excited to modify this new firmware and share with you guys.
edit: yaffs image for unyaffs method is ready. need someone to test it.
x12 wont be released with 2.2 froyo directly with gingerbread
Lets i hope we get 2.3 if not atleast froyo and multitouch!
If this is true i suppose that we also will get 2.3 and as SE say that the X12 will be out for the Barcelona convention on 18 February i thing that January will be an exiting month for the XPERIA owners.
So, is it worth the trouble all over again? Is there really a new keyboard like for the X10?

Guaranteed working(JIT V2)-SK_007(Stock)Rom_final-JIT-v2-[For Xrecovery]-30/12/10-

Details:This is a Stock SonyEricsson 2.1 2.0.2.A.0.24 Rom(rooted with JIT v2 Enabled) baseband 2.0.49,Xrecovery installed.it has been updated now,all the previous problems, for e.g old baseband, google account problems and others have been rectified and now it is with the latest JIT v2,all the previous download links have been updated to this new ROM.
How to install:
There are two steps to install,u can opt for any of them if one does not work
1.Copy the zip file[SK_007(Stock)Rom_final-JIT-v2.zip] to the root of your sd card, then reboot into xRecovery and click intall custom zip, then select SK_007(Stock)Rom_final-JIT-v2.zip ,it will start installing it,when finished reboot your device and Voila! its done,Enjoy.....
2.After downloading [SK_007(Stock)Rom_final-JIT-v2.zip] extract it,you will find a folder named "2010-12-29.18.53.53".Copy the following folder in xrecovery/backup folder in your sd card, after that reboot your X10 into xrecovery mod and restore "2010-12-29.18.53.53",and Voila.its done,Enjoy....
3.Go in xrecovery/backup folder(u can use root explorer or u can simply plug in your X10 to your pc with sd card mounted),there will be atleast one folder in it(if u have created a any backup(if not then first reboot into xrecovery and create a backup),replace all the 4 files,i.e cache, data, nandroid, system(img) with the 4 files u find in the extracted filer(2010-12-29.18.53.53),after that reboot your X10 in xrecovery and restore that folder, and yeah it will start restoring, enjoy.
Special Note:if u ant the latest baseband then after this u also have to flash sin files using flasher gui or non gui(prefered).
Note:Though the first step sounds a bit easy but i would presonally recommend second or third step, coz it always work and you will never see MD5 mismatch.
Whats included in this Rom:
1.It is based on the latest 2.0.2.A.0.24 Rom
(Firmware version 2.1-rooted-zdz)
(Baseband version 2.0.4.9)
(Kernel version 2.6.29
[email protected]#1)
2.Off course it is rooted
3.it is latest JIT v2 enabled(previously it was JIT v1 enabled)now you can get a score of upto 35 Mflops in linpack
4.latest market
4.What else can be in it as it is a stock ROM and i created it only coz some people asked me to do so....

*FOLLOW THE STEPS PRECISELY ELSE U WILL GET STUCK*
download the ftf bundle & compressed recovery image from linnks below
extract the contents of the recovery image to a folder on desktop
u will get a folder with 4 files as shown below:
connect device to PC and mount sdcard
copy that extrated folder to /sdcard/xrecovery/backup/
so final path to folder & files should look like:
/sdcard/xrecovery/backup/prerooted_X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_fixed_rec/cache.img
/sdcard/xrecovery/backup/prerooted_X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_fixed_rec/data.img
/sdcard/xrecovery/backup/prerooted_X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_fixed_rec/nandroid.md5
/sdcard/xrecovery/backup/prerooted_X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_fixed_rec/system.img
once copying is finished unmount sdcard and disconnect cable
reboot into recovery and restore this backup
AFTER RESTORE IS DONE DO NOT REBOOT
directly remove battery and wait for few minutes (since we dont have power off in recovery this is crude way to do it)
now start flashtool and connect X10 in flash mode and flash the ftf bundle provided below
after flashing is complete just restart device and enjoy prerooted X10 SE 2.3.3 GB!!!

dude this is NOT UR FORUM OR MY FORUM...
this is XDA...
also regarding creating seperate device sub-forums i have contacted the forum mods...
i dont know if u are aware of this or no but Sony Ericsson has released around 6-7 Android handsets this year... which essentially are based on the same Qualcomm MSM8255 (7x30) chipset... i have even checked the open source contribution by Sony ericsson and all the devices share the SAME kernel sources...
ok as u must have realized that since all these devices are VERY similar (internally) it doesnt make much sense to creat seperate device sub-forums for each device...
instead here is wht i suggest:
currently there are two device sub-forums:
xperia arc: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=962
xperia play: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1090
i personally feel is that all the Xperia 2011 devices can be clubbed under a single sub forum (say "Xperia 2011 Devices") and then make sub-sub forums for each device... OR just keep the 5 basic sub-sections (Dev/General/themes/Q&A/Accessories) and then everyone should tag the threads properly with device ID... e.g.: say if u want to start a Arc related thread then just start the thread title with [ARC]...
cause if u see most of the things are common for Arc/Play/Neo/Mini/Mini Pro/Ray

if u are completely new to flashtool OR have never used it before PLEASE READ THIS: [FLASHTOOL GUIDE] HOW TO for n00bies
sometimes when flashing SEUS/PCC might interfere with flashtool which will lead to flashtool not able to recognize X10... if u have this problem then exit ALL OTHER running apps like SEUS/PCC antivirus/etc... only then Flashtool will work correctly...
many users have reported that it is best to first install latest SEUS and then use flashtool... this will help Windows get the latest drivers for X10 from SEUS...
you rock fella!!
So here is the rooted stock rom, but could i perhaps remove some apps, add some basic data and install apps, then re-package it as one ftf, so i also have the "basics" already done (junk removed, signed into goo/wifi etc) ?? i only ask because it seems maybe possible in theory to me ???!!

This is not a rom/firmware, that's why one of the requirements of using this is to have the stock 2.3.3 firmware.
In fact, this is the 'advanced' stock kernel which includes root access and xRecovery access.
