Push mail cm7 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I really like the stock samsung email app. The only thing keeping me from using cm7 is that. I know k9 mail but that seems to kill.my battery and isn't true "push" email.
What are my options. Would the email apk from unnamed work on cm7? I doubt it.

Probably should have posted in general. Sorry.

there is a stock email client (not gmail) in cm7.1, which works well with my exchange email. it can do imap/pop3 email as well.

Yeah I'm totally aware of the other email app but u cannot set it to push. Only check for mail in different intervals

push works, if you mean the same app - which is the one under cm7.1

"enhanced email" in the market is pretty nice esp if you like stock. its enhanced stock. does push.

Well I figured out how to push gmail with the stock email app.
Add new account
Type username an password
Click manual setup
Click exchange
Username will be /username. Leave the slash
Put m.Google.com instead of gmail.com
Viola. Perfect working push gmail with the stock app.

So are you using exchange? I have had this problem as well with the stock email app. I do not use exchange. I have 2 email accounts one of which is Gmail and another that is Road Runner that forwards to my Gmail account. The Gmail app receives push email perfectly but the stock email app waits for its assigned frequency to check for mail.
Will your way of setting up the account work for me?
Thanks!

I am using 5 gmail accounts on the stock email app using the method I posted above for push mail. Yes it should work, not sure how to do your RR email but if u have that forwarded to a gmail theN your all set

LOL, working like a champ! I was trying to copy your instructions and paste them to a thread I had started over in the captivate thread about this issue 6 + months ago to help anyone out that may stumble across it in a search. Needless to say I failed miserably!

Yes, I had problem with email. Yahoo and my work email notifications were displayed but when I pulled the dropdown top bar and clicked on it, nothing...
Then I opened the email application and there was nothing there, even though my blur kept on saying that I have configured accounts properly.

Try 'search this thread' and typing in email and reading a bit for your answer. I know it's there because I've had the same issue.
Hopefully this will teach you how to research on your own in the future!

Use Friendcaster. It's a much better facebook app. You actually get notifications and contacts sync without issue.

Agreed 100%. Friendcaster is the best fb app out right now hands down

I used to use friendcaster but then... lol jk not making an arrow in the knee joke but anyway i stopped using friendcaster when the facebook app actually got good
Keep in mind that any variance in the name between FB and your contacts may require you to 'join' the two via Edit in the Contacts menu.
+1 for Friendcaster too.

Sms messaging

Can someone tell me where I can get an app for sending sms messages in groups (more than 10 contacts at a time). The note only has a limit of 10. Please help!

Try groupme app, I use it daily. Think of it like a chatroom with all your "selected" friends. I use it to text all my flag football friends to talk smack. Plus it is free...

Samsung Galaxy Ace Email setup

I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace which recently went on Gingerbread.
Now, I have been trying to set up my Yahoo email on the phone. If I go to "Email"; I get an option to only download emails from Inbox, Drafts and Sent Items.
I have created a lot of folders in the email account so I'd like to have those on the phone as well. How do I do that.
I would rather prefer not using the Yahoo Mail App as that is very slow.
Anyone?
Is there any way I can have the entire Yahoo Email (along with folder I have created) on the phone or would I have to install the Yahoo Mail app?

Update: it seems that POP mail won't sync folders, where as IMAP mails do. Try setting up the mail as IMAP. Try this:

Thanks! Setting up as IMAP did the trick.
The link you have mentioned doesn't work; I found one that works but can't post it (haven't completed 10 posts).

Auto complete of email address for exchange

I am running SGS2 with custom ROM AOKP 7.1 ICS 4.0.4. The exchange email app does not populate email addresses that i have recently used or used at least once. I need to be able to simply type in the first few letters of the persons name and then click on the address that pops up from my previous emails, similar to what outlook does on a PC. Hope that makes sense.
Any help on this is appreciated. This is getting frustrating having to type addresses from scratch. Thank you guys.

It works on mine that way, but I am running ShoStock2 v3.1.2. Are your Exchange contacts syncing? My contact list is synced with the Exchange server contacts and it pulls anyone who is in my contact list when I start typing in the To field. Not sure if it will use recently received or sent email addresses or just the ones in your contacts.

I have never had contacts sync with my exchange account. When running stock rom if I sent an email to anyone they always popped up later as soon as I typed a few letters. Now with custom rom it won't work.

I realize that but a custom rom should be smart enough to remember recently used email addresses. I am trying to find a solution bc I really like AOKP rom and don't want to flash something else.

If it is a different rom with a different email client you shouldn't expect it to work exactly the same
