[Q] Cracked Screen Talked to Dell and Sending replacement but on one condition - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys,
I am not sure if this is good or bad news for me. I talked to Dell rep and said my screen was cracked when i got out of my car with tight jeans on and the phone in the pocket (but i actually dropped it from a foot high) i finally convinced him it is not physical damage.
So he is sending in a replacement on ONE CONDITION: If they find my phone physical damage, then the dell collection guys are going to call me and charge me 250 USD for replacement.
So my Question is:
1) I haven't gave them any credit card info. So how could they charge me as they have my broken phone with them and the replacement with me?
2) I brought it from Dell.com in APril so could they charge my credit card without my authorization for that price if i hesitate to pay?
They asked me to ship the old one back in 2 weeks, so if i delay by 4 weeks, are they going to charge me even if i have a excuse??
They approved my Streak Guys, but i dint want them to ship the replacement yet until i call them back for it. I am out of town so just wanted some bad help from the great GURU's here on XDA..
Any help greatly appreciated..
Thanks,
Raj

They have your credit card information from when you originally purchased the Streak. They will use that to bill you for the replacement Streak if they find physical damage. If you don't send the old Streak back in the time frame they specify, they will bill you for the replacement Streak.

Ok, my streak 5 earpiece is also not working i cant hear anyone unless i am on a speakerphone or headphones. So with this, don't i hold enough water to fight it with my Amex card if they bill it unauthorized?
just looking at all the options and the worst case senario
Thanks,
Raj

You can fight it, but if Dell determines that there is physical damage, you will lose. In agreeing to the exchange, you agreed to Dell's terms and conditions for the exchange. All Dell has to do is send their information to AMEX if you file a chargeback and AMEX will side with them.
Dell's TOS overrides AMEX's TOS.

I broke my Streak 5 yesterday also
In my jeans pocket and I bumped into a table. Simple as that. First phone I have ever broken. Didn't crack the glass, just the LCD underneath.
I want a dual core phone, but the Note isn't out yet, the Prime is really too small for my tastes, the SII doesn't excite me... I don't know. I bought an LCD assembly online and going to try to replace myself. I have replaced several iPhone and HTC screens for clients, so shouldn't be a problem (I hope).
Of course after reading this post, I might want to call Dell mobility and see if they will just send me another.

It doesn't seem like they could tell if there was physical damage unless there is a built in shock sensor or something (I have heard that Apple is planning on putting one in iPhones soon), or if your little fall dented or dinged it. Even then, scuffs could be normal wear and tear I would think...

I did end up calling Dell Mobility and they said the same. They will advance replace my Streak and only charge if they determine it is due to user abuse. I figure at that point I would have to either dispute it or ask for my broken Streak back and replace the screen myself.
If I have to give Dell another $250 for my Streak, I would want something for it, not a freaking refurb.

I've been dealing with Dell the last couple of days to get mine replaced, and had no problems, except they still show "Best Buy" as the official owner of my phone. Apparently there is a separate department that transfers ownership that is closed, and they keep telling me to call back tomorrow, which I do, only to find out that they are still closed...
The call center appears to be in India, and there are apparently some major holidays going on. I can live with that...

Hey, which rom are you guys gonna flash back to before you send it back?
Sent from my Dell Streak using Tapatalk

They both should go back to carrier-branded stock ROMs. How current that ROM is should make no difference.

I think I'm gonna put 1.6 on it, just to play with it.

My exchange went through, they are sending my new Streak. I just flashed the 353 rom for AT&T. No root, no nothing. No fun!

when you get the refurb take the broken screen off your phone put it on the refurb and send that back and keep the good screen on your phone.

Just call your credit card company and tell them you lost your card and would like it cancelled and a new one issued. If you're not poor, you have more than one way to access your money, and can live without a card for a week or two.

Took my defective refurb to verizon today...

I cracked my old phone and got a replacement from Asurion, and they sent me a refurb with a bum trackball, which scrolls around the screen and doesnt even go down (sucks, i cant root it now without a modded recovery).
The guy at the Verizon store said i had to call Asurion since they issued the phone...
I just got off the phone with Asurion and theyre sending me a new one tomorrow or something, and they refused to give me an upgrade.
If my next one has a problem, what should i do? I refuse to deal with this.
Leave I guess. I got a like new incredible on eBay for a great price and I'm using that to ride out the rest of my contract. Then I'm leaving for Spring or T-Mo.

This is why I don't use Asurion. I just have BestBuy insurance, which covers absolutely everything that could possibly happen to my phone (my sister has dropped her phone in a stream and thrown it against the wall and their policy covered it, and she got a new phone the first time, and the second time her phone was discontinued so they gave her an upgrade). I'm careful with my phone though, and honestly I thought I'd break it much quicker (I'm very clumsy). I've had my Eris for about 8 months now and nothing has happened to it at all (hardware wise, anyways. I did almost brick it once, but I fixed it rather quickly).
You could ask to speak to the supervisor of the Asurion rep. Chances are that if you express deeply enough of your unhappiness with their poor service, they will probably help you out. Since you have probably paid enough in insurance to buy a newer phone.
Since you got the phone from Asurion, Verizon won't do anything for you now. I haven't had much experience with Asurion, but I believe they would be less inclined to give you a new phone since it's pretty much the only insurance you can get for phones ( I don't know if the Best Buy insurance is available to only phones bought there or not).
You can try talking to a supervisor and might get some luck. It's worth a shot. If not, I don't think there is much else you can do aside from buying a new phone yourself.
Well they sent me another replacement for free this time, and with a working trackball.. i kinda wish they didnt so i could complain again lol. Dont ever work with Asurion, I swear the first refurb they gave me was a chinese copy, it didnt even say HTC on the phone

I got an Asurion phone and when it broke (the question is when, not if with those) I just called VZW's CS and got them to send me a replacement, never dealt with Asurion after that, and I vow to never do so again.
I broke my first eris, got a replacement from asurion and the soft key lights didn't work so I called back the next morning after getting it and the guy had me do some reset tests and such and that didn't work so he had a brand new eris sent out to me. I got to keep all the extra stuff that came with the replacement, all I had to do was ship back the phone body itself. Guess I made out good since I only paid 50 bucks for the replacement and got a brand new eris out of it along with two new back covers, two batteries, two chargers and an extra 8gig sd card. lol
Asurion is a miserable excuse for an insurance company. It's borderline fraud what they do. I had to replace an old flip phone a few years back and they gave me one whose screen wouldn't shut off when flipped closed, and it would hardly flip closed anyways because there was no spring-action to the flip. It was just one continuous resistance-filled motion.
This is exactly why we dropped insurance on our phones.
I'm considering dropping the insurance. I don't think it's worth the monthly fee, plus the deductible if I have to use it. I've only used it once so far, back on my old flip phone a couple years ago.

I dropped the asurion insurance, and just have the warranty the entire length of the contract. That way if the ball craps out after a year, im still good

Dell Streak Warranty Replacement?

I think I've been driving everyone crazy with my questions about concerning my streaks restart loop.
I have tried everything I can think of to fix it and it's not working so I'm thinking maybe I should call in the warranty.
I of course have rooted my streak as I upgraded it to 2.1 then 2.2 then 2.2.2 then streakdroid then gingerstreak then back to 2.2. Does that mean I can't use the warranty?
I did purchase a squaretrade warranty as well and that's an option. I think they have a 50 dollar deductible though.
What says the mighty XDA community?
You have posted before you can get very small periods of normal operation. Try getting it back to stock (for AT&T either 340 or 353), if you get there turn it off, call Dell technical support and walk them through your issues. Most likely will get a refurb unit. Was pretty painless for me, 20 - 30 minutes talking to them and two days later FEDEX is dropping off refurb unit. I have one already due to power switch and wife because 30 pin went bad, and from looks of it going to call them again about the wife's. Anyway point being, get to official stock and RMA your Streak. Good Luck.
PS. Don't do your co-pay unless you really have too, Dell will replace free of charge as long as you are under warranty.

I think I have it back to stock, but I recall tethering and wifi hotspot being in the build which means it couldn't be stock, right??
Good question am on 1.9.1, won't be home to later to look at wife's stock ROM to answer. Hopefully another user can answer shortly, if not I will make point to answer.
I agree with vanemburghj. Call dell and troubleshoot for a bit, then they will send you a replacement. I bought mine off craigslist in November and it had an overheating problem. Dell replaced it with a NEW unit and my name was not even in there system. I have always had great service from Dell.

I have always been happy with Dell. I deal with them a lot at work. The Streak support seems to be spotty, but you also have to know how to talk with Dell support.
How did your overheating problem manifest itself?

It started when I took my phone fishing and it was in direct sunlight for a few hours at 90 degrees. It restarted then kept boot looping. That is the only thing I can think of.

Hrm, mine got really hot one day sitting in the sunlight out by the pool. I wonder if that's what has happened to my streak.
Dell handled mine perfectly. All they care about is your Service Tag # and IMEI# if those don't turn up stolen or with any other issues you're golden. Oh and the manufactured date which goes by your IMEI.

No tethering or hotspot on wife's 353 baseband, if you RMA make sure you get it back to stock.
Dell is sending me a replacement Streak!!!
That is good news, 3 times I have dealt with Dell for replacement unit, have been painless. Only issue was returned one for problems with 30 pin connector on phone, just to receive replacement with same issue.
When should you receive your replacement?

I got the replacement yesterday and just preped the old one for return to Dell thanks to your post on the QDL tool.
I thought I had a problem getting into recovery until I realized I just needed to be pressing the volume up and down buttons.
I put the streak on 340 for the return.
Glad to hear it worked out for you, sure Dell has their issues but every RMA I did went off without a hitch.
I discovered last night that the referb unit has the exact same SIM card in restart loop problem.
I called Dell and the rep wanted to just send me a new Streak but they show as unavailible. So she said they could send another refurb. I'm going to ask if I can wait for a new one.
does anyone know if Dell charge for diagnostics, if they find the problem is not a defect? thanks.
Today the digitizer on my phone went out. The glass is fine, no cracks or anything, but the screen is black and white tie dyed looking. So it's hard to go from streakdroid 1.9 to stock when you can't see what you are doing! Will Dell replace with streakdroid on it?
Excellent. That means there will be one more in the refurb pile for someone else to purchase. The refurbs are becoming plentiful and at great prices.

[Q] Cracked Screen... Replacement or Repair?

So I just cracked my phone's screen today (stupidest way.. I've never damaged a phone ever, I baby them) and trust me, it hurt ME. Anyway.
I have insurance on the phone (girlfriend put it on when we started the contract) anyway, I have heard HORRIBLE things about Asurion replacements (bad refurbs, usually either dirty, scratched up or stop working within a couple of weeks) and I really don't want to be on that boat.
On the other hand I could just have the digitizer replaced (since the actual LCD and the phone works superb) but I have two problems with this:
A. I don't know how to repair it myself, never dealt in repairing hardware.
B. I can't seem to find a place around me that fixes anything but stupid iPhones.
What would you guys do?
Oh, here's a picture if you want to share the pain...
EDIT:
Here's the current status (I figure I should keep everyone informed of how horrible this process is so when I finally find a way to get my problem fixed, someone else doesn't have to deal with all this).
When my girl and I first went into Sprint the first night and they told us they don't do physical repairs (which is a lie btw, they do if its less than 2 cracks and it takes up less than an inch, another store told me this) they had us start a replacement with Asurion over the phone. The guy was ready to ship the phone but I told him to wait off to see if I could get the screen replaced someplace else. He said he'd keep the ticket open.
Today after going to two other Sprint stores (one said they don't do physical repairs, other said what I already posted above about the cracks). I told my girlfriend (she's the primary on the account) to go ahead and file the insurance claim. Asurion had no record of the guy leaving the ticket open, but somehow they needed a FAXED (no e-mail) copy of her photo ID.
Tomorrow I will be going to Sprint and I will tell them this horrible experience. I know its a third party company that deals with this, but I've about had it. My bills say Sprint, not Asurion, they will find a fix or I'll cancel contract right in front of them with no EFT due to the Administration fee change. It's horrible customer service. The second time we called Asurion (to finish the claim that was lost) we were on hold for half an hour.
Oh another thing I'm going to be showing the Sprint manager tomorrow:

I will let everyone know how this goes afterwards.

I have heard people slamming new phones as well. Have u taken it in to a repair shop (sprint) and asked if they can just repair it? Look on Craigslist people advertise repairs on it all the time
I would have it replaced if u can't work on it urself. They usually sell screens and digitizers on eBay. I would suggest buy both since they are glued together. It's just easier to replace.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Go into a Sprint repair store and show it to them. If they have a cool repair tech he may fix it for you for free. When my camera cover glass cracked they fixed that for free, but it depends on the store. Some are helpful and some follow company policy strictly. There is a post here that walks you through replacing the screen if you want to try it yourself and have the tools. You also have to weigh the costs. Are a screen and digitizer cheaper than the $100 deductible on Asurion. Since the 3D is still a new phone chances are you will get a new one from Asurion. Also, are you rooted with revolutionary?? Which is a much better root than the HTC method. If you are, any new phone will come with the new bootloader which means you will only be able to use HTC's method of rooting.
just 2 weeks ago we needed to replace a lost og evo on my account, we got a brand new one, unopened box. with that phone as old as it is I would think you would get a new one with a 3D
edit: i didnt read the above post,, good point, i wouldn't want to get stuck with the 1.500 hboot you cant use the revolutionary on
If you are happy with the device have it repaired.
As another posted stated check ahead of time. Some devices have the LCD glued to the touchscreen/glass aka digitizer/glass. Manufacturers do this to help prevent dust from collecting on the LCD over time.
I have not taken apart a 3D yet so i cant confirm that as of yet.
Feel free to PM me for more info. I cant officaily offer to help you fix it, board rules. wink wink nod nod special handshake. but if i can help i will.
We are not even supposed to touch 3d's yet , the crack looks to take up less then an inch of screen they should replace it for you , there no I referbs yet anyway .
My store has swapped out front panels for free even without insurance, given we have the parts phone to strip , since we can make a ticket for 3d's yet
If you don't have an Evo3d well ...
Call a sprint service and repair store, ask to speak to a tech there, and tell the truth as far as what happened and the size of the crack. If it's around an inch or less they should cover it. If it's a bigger crack if you make a good impression on the tech they may cover it anyways and replace the whole panel at no charge if you have TEP.
I would call or email Htc about it... Maybe they do it for you even if u have to pay... I would pay to get it fix.. just to keep my original device!!!

I have actually had nothing but good experiences with Asurion. On my OG EVO I had to have it replaced and they sent me a refurb. The refurb had a small indention in the screen. I called them and they have to by policy run some tests. The tests are for technical problems, but they still ran through them even though my issue was cosmetic. After my dent was still there after rebooting the phone lol they sent me a brand new one. They always send the phones out next day shipping and as long as they have them in stock you will get yours the next day.
I would, like others have suggested, take it into a Sprint repair center and see if they will fix it. Then basically it's research on just how hard or easy it will be to replace it yourself. If it cost more than $100 or you feel completely overwhelmed, I would get the replacement through Asurion. Just remember, they have certain stickers and ways to tell if you have opened your phone up and it will void your 1 year warranty should something happen.
Thanks for all the replies guys. I forgot to add this to the OP: I took the phone into Sprint yesterday I and was told that they don't fix any sort of physical damage, which I thought was bull based on other threads I saw here in the forums. Any special policy or anything I should bring up to have them stop lying to me? I
And it's comforting that everyone ha s had good experiences with Asurion. If I can't have the screen fixed I'll definitely do that. The fact that is new brings up a good point, but I've also read they'll wait until they have the phone to replace it for you.

The store I went to was an official Sprint one. I did a bunch of calling to all the repair stores around me, all of them told me they wont touch it if it's physically damaged (I threw in that was less than an inch).
I DID get a guy that at least asked if it was one crack and I told him it was a main one and was spider webbed out, he told me that the tech would look at it, so I"m going over now and see what happens. I'll keep everyone posted. I just rather not spend 100 bucks on a new refurbed phone when the crack is not that giant.

Assurion Claim - Heads Up

Hi All,
I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about making claims to Assurion.
TL-DR
Make sure to verify the hardware is fully in tact when getting an Assurion claim. Report even the slightest defect.
I dropped my phone about 3 weeks ago. Bummer. I got my "Like New" Assurion replacement. I immediately noticed the battery door didn't seem to fit well on the replacement, and would come unclipped very easily; sometimes when pulling out of my pouch. I shrugged it off as a problem with the door itself from opening and re-closing during the S-Off process, and just planned to buy a new door.
After flashing ROMs, S-Offing, etc, I noticed the door fit perfectly on the original as I was migrating all the data from the device (door was on because WiFi wouldn't connect otherwise). Hmmmmm.
I closely looked at the two devices, and noticed a very very small bulge coming from underneath the red cover that holds the battery. The bulge is so small, it almost seems too small to cause any problems, but it is.
I called Assurion, and they told me that if I had called in sooner, they'd send a replacement, but because I was outside of my 7 day window, they would not send a replacement.
I spoke to a supervisor (before I had my morning coffee; bad idea) and laid into him. He snapped back a bit that I should have let him finish, and he'd override the policy and send me a new replacement without forcing me to make a new claim.
In closing, if you're going to make an Assurion claim, physically inspect the device very carefully and report the smallest of problems you may find, even if you can't find the cause or think you may be imagining it.
Something interesting I noticed is that the new device did not have the VOID sticker on the screw, because I was thinking about swapping the back from the old phone to the new one. They may not have noticed, but I didn't want to chance it. The good news is now, if I have to replace a screen or something, the missing VOID sticker means I can replace the parts and they won't know I was tinkering inside .
Hope this helps someone avoid future frustration.
When I was having my OG Droid replaced, they kept sending me refurb ones that had literally TON of dust under the glass (I literally could not use it outside because of how much dust it was, you couldn't see the screen). I went through like 6 of them before they just sent me a new D2G.
I highly recommend being anal as HELL when you get a refurb from them.
I also report mine as lost not broken or any of that. Had a case were my mom sent one back and they said they "never got it". Believe me when I say this my mom sent the broken phone back. If they want their phones back they should us a carrier that allows tracking. That said if you are going to send one back be sure to get proof of shipping from the post office. That at least proves you shipped it then it can be between them and not you and them.
Edit:
And before someone jumps my ****, its not like I "loose" phones everyday. I have only had one claim on the EVO3D about a year ago or more.

I had the same issue with returning my brother's dumbphone. They said they had not received the phone and charged the account $519. Luckily I had held on to the proof of shipment. Two months later and after my account had been suspended twice for not paying the balance they corrected the error.

Thank you very much. I hadn't thought about that. I'll be sure to get proof of shipment from the post office.
Cheers!
Asurion DROPPED me from my insurance saying I filed too many claims in a year, when in fact they were on different phones and 14 months apart. I called Verizon and Asurion, they realized they misappropriated a claim I made for my mom on her DInc2 that my baby brother decided needed a bath. They said I should have used all of her information on the claim, I told them no because it asked for the account holder info which is in fact ME.

Its the old "do as I say not as I do" its insurance fraud when in fact you still have the phone. You are lying to the insurance company..
PM sent..
Wait, WTF? They didn't send you a BNIB rezound? I busted my D2 back a year + ago and they sent out a BNIB. If I have to pay 100 bucks for a "deductible" they better send me a new one. not a refurb POS.
Well I am glad you all had GREAT experience with Assurion. I have had 1 bad experience and it ticked me off. Had a 32gb iPhone 4S. Notice the S there. Well long story short screen cracked, paid 200, got a new one sent to me. BNIB! Well I open it. Hmm something is not right here. Wait what is this? A iphone 4? Wheres my S. Wait theres more. There is a memory change? 16GB? Really? I called and the Support said that is the phone I had insured. NOOOOOOOOOOO SIR. Thats like using a strap on with the wife. Its just wrong! So I called Verizon thinking last resort ill argue with these guys. OMFG! Not only did they contact Assurion for me, but they gave me a 200 Credit on my account, and all I had to do was take the iPhone they sent me to a Verizon store and they replaced it with a 32GB iPhone 4S. Which needless to say I gave to my wife, for her sweet brand new REZOUND!! Never been happier!!
Get rid of Asurion
It is overpriced and refurbs suck! I use SquareTrade. If they cannot fix it, they give me full retail for it deposited right to my paypal.
And they are cheaper than Asurion
Weird they would send you a refurub.. My friends replacement from Asurion was brand new in box. Mine too.

I think it depends on stock. I've received both. I had a work phone stolen and they sent me a BNIB. Same for my WinMo device that was broken by the case VZW sold me.
It's odd how they replace things. When the power button broke on my OG Droid they told me to just send the unit itself and nothing else. I got a refurbished in return. When I bricked my Incredible they sent me a brand new unit with all the accessories and everything.

Damn now that's good service on Verizon's part. But if the 4 had 32gb of memory, how the hell can you tell the 4 and 4s apart? It's the same phone with a new letter behind it and marked up price tag?

Ok i never had a problem with asurion and I am still a noob but I got a custom rom! (4 bricks)finally learned enough to feel less noon. My point is this. All phones should be reported lost. You can keep the broke one and who knows, maybe you learn enough to fix it. I'm still kicking myself in the ass about the one I sent back for a black screen. I know exactly how to fix it now but I sent it back. Grrrrrr

Samsung Support is absolutely terrible.

Hello, There are many reports of Samsung's customer service being terrible. When buying my phone I was thinking that I would never have to use Samsung's customer service as I always baby my devices, but I was wrong. Due to a well known defect in the plastic lip on the device, small cracks form over time. They are only about a millimeter or two each, but if your phone is in otherwise pristine condition it can be a very annoying problem. Here is a small piece of knowledge you should know about me, when talking on the phone I have trouble being stern and fighting for what I want. Especially if the person has an accent (not that there is anything wrong with that, I just can't understand them very well.). Continue reading for the whole story, in every detail I can remember!
This started on September 27, 2012. I had my sister call Samsung and explain the problem. Several users have reported the same issue getting solved by either a quick fix or a simple replacement. I was expecting nothing less than a quick fix. A few minutes after hanging up I received an email from Samsung with my ticket number and a UPS shipping label. I immediately started packing when a user on XDA-Developers told me that he got a replacement without having to be without a phone for 10 days, so I called Samsung 2 more times asking for a replacement. They never transferred me to Advanced service or Executive service so I figured it was a lost cause and send my phone in the next day. Because of the small size of the defects, I printed out 3 HD full page pictures of the cracks and circled them. I put them directly by the phone in the box hoping that the technician would get it and be able to solve the problem easily. The part that needed to be replaced costs $30 on eBay and includes the metallic bezel and the white lip. I can do this repair within an hour if I had the parts. The phone was received by Samsung on October 3, 2012. I received no other communication that there were problems so I assumed it was under warranty and would be fixed. They shipped the phone back to me on October 5, 2012.
On October 9, 2012 the phone was delivered to my house. Upon unpacking the phone I noticed that it was filthy. There was a layer of dust/dirt on the screen. I didn't care as long as the phone was fixed. I glanced at the white lip and saw that there were two dents in it, upon looking around the bezel I saw all three of the cracks and one more (probably form shipping). My mom called back immediately and asked why it wasn't fixed. They responded with confusion and we were transferred to Advanced support. They said it must have been a filing error and that they were sorry, we had to schedule another repair. I'm very mad at this point. How do some users get a replacement phone free on the first try and I have to wait 12 days to get nothing done, then send it in again for even longer? I pack it up with no pictures this time. Just the device in some bubble wrap (6 layers to be exact. Enough to protect it from even the biggest hit.). The phone was shipped out for the second time on October 10, 2012.
On Friday October 12, 2012 Samsung got the phone. No repair was attempted on this day as it was Friday. This was understandable because I wouldn't want to start a repair right before a weekend either. October 15, 2012 comes and with it another email from Samsung. This time it's an update that my repair cost has changed. Just in case you forgot, the original issue was with cracks on the white lip on the side of the device. Now in this email I see "After careful inspection, the repair cost for your product has changed. Please review the following important information and instruction." I read further down and see in large orange letters "$197.01". I freak out. I read what the charge is for, an LCD repair fee for $117.00 and a Standard repair fee for $65.00. Now why on earth would the LCD have to be replaced? I first went on the Samsung Live Chat as this is supposed to be a replacement for their phone service. I get no where and was told to call for more information. So I called. After asking why I need to pay for this repair that doesn't need to be done about 5 times and saying that this is my second time sending it in I was transferred to Advanced customer service, which I think is just another employee who the problem gets passed on to. I hand the phone off to my dad and he takes it away. Asks why they want $200 for something that is their problem. The guy said that the LCD is either cracked or it's an internal problem. Duh. Anyway my dad said that they need to file their own claim with UPS as the phone was damaged in shipping. The phone's LCD was perfect when I sent it in. Some words about not supporting a product were said and we were transferred to Executive customer service.
Let me inform you that Executive customer service leaves at 8:00 PM CST (but the phone support stays open until 9:00 PM CST). It is 7:45 PC CST when we are transferred. The music stopped and it started to ring, then a busy tone came, and finally the line went dead. He called back and was transferred to Advanced after 5 minutes of explaining what the problem was. Advanced said the Executives left for the day, she scheduled a phone meeting on the next day at 5:00 PM CST. My dad left his work number for them to call as he wouldn't have been home yet.
The next day he gets home from work and he told me that he missed the call. So apparently he called back and went back up the line to Executive. Finally after about an hour of persuading they agreed to fix the LCD, which isn't even broken, and the cracks for free. I think okay everything is good again ill have my phone by early next week. The next day I got an email from Samsung saying that the repair was once again on hold. This time for parts. At this point the phone has been gone for 20 days. With the weekend coming up the phone will have to shipped tomorrow in order to get here Monday. I want to know how long the parts take to come in so I called again and asked. Put on hold for a few minutes. Guy comes back and says he doesn't know. They aren't informed about parts and can't give me an ETA. We will see what tomorrow brings and ill update the thread if something else happens.
****Cliff Notes Version****
Samsung ignores my phone and doesn't repair, I send it in again and they try to charge me $200 to fix an LCD that works perfectly. A few calls later they agree to fix everything free. Now its on hold for parts and it is day 20 of not having a phone. In short, Samsung doesn't care about customers and will try to screw them any way possible. The next phone I buy will NOT be a Samsung phone. Congrats customer service, you lost a customer.

Yikes! !!
I'm very sorry to hear this report.
Good customer service is the backbone of any company, and clearly Samsung is forgetting that customers are their future.
I'm hoping you get a resolution soon, and that your experience is isolated, and not becoming the new norm for companies seeking our vote via checkbook.....g
I had a somewhat similar situation with the warranty company with my wife's phone.
She was without her phone for half a month, after (many) frustrating calls later, I ended up calling the at&t customer support and I explained the situation to them.
They decided to take half a month off the bill for her phone and pay half off of the insurance deductible.
Edit: i explained the situation to at&t and asked them why the insurance company couldn't send me a replacement phone before i sent them mine. At&t even called the insurance rep and asked. They got no where. I then asked what at&t could do because it wasn't right that i paid for service ask month and haven't used it in 15 days.

Wow what a horrible experience. Although, I would have just purchase the $30 part and did it myself. I can't imagine shipping my phone anywhere but that's just me. I hope they get it resolved and fixed ASAP. Keep us updated.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
[Lady]: "How do you carry that huge phone in your pocket?"
[Note User]: "I'm used to having huge stuff in my pants"
Still waiting for the part. Hopefully it'll get done tomorrow. If not ill call in and flip out.

I had the crack issue, I called att and calmly talked with them about it and they credited my account a month of free service to off set the coat of an insurance claim through asurion. After I filed the claim I had my new carbon grey note the next day. On top of the free exchange I ended up with a 90$ credit after its all said and done.
So try just giving att customer service a call of its not to late.

Wow, that's awful, completely opposite from my experience with Samsung. Long story short, I bricked my phone & they emailed me a prepaid label so I sent it in and had it back fixed within a week. In your situation I would have just fixed it myself too, but then again I'm a former phone repair tech & I know not everyone is as comfortable taking apart phones as I am. Good luck, keep us posted.

I second that. My phone had the stuck power button failure. They sent me a label and in 3 weeks I had my phone back!!

Got the phone back yesterday. Has a stuck pixel. I already flashed, have it set up how I like it, I'm just gonna deal with it.
Oh, and they sent me a refurb
