Is there any Custom ROM for Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G supports NTFS or EXT3?
[24.09.2011][ROM][3G][P7500][EUR] BroodComb XXKI1 V2 supports NTFS or EXT3/4?
why is there no answer to this?? is it because there's an answer somewhere else??
for which question there is an answer? I searched but I coulnt found.
I know that pershoot's kernel has this support( it says so)
But I could'n get any results. I am using overcome ROM with Pershoot's kernel, there is something to do with cifs for this. But unfortunately I couldnt find my way out with this part. Too complicated, so I asked if there is ROM that supports this file systems without doing something extra.

i might be wrong, but as far as i can tell there is no external hard drive support, i am pretty sure there is nowhere near enough power to get the drive going. it will support flash drives up to 32 GB that are formatted as ntfs. you best bet is to simply do a network share, or better still get a wireless hard drive.
Maybe we could use an active USB HUB and an external HDD or with the right external powered HDD. I tried the external drives too, but of course not enough power, and when connected my powered external HDD reader it said the disk is empty (I use Linux and ext4 everywhere, maybe it had problems to read that) - but meanwhile the device started to work strangely, I had to reboot on the end. I am also interested in this question
I've used an externaly powered hub. FAT32 worked (80GB drive). NTSF did not (500GB drive). Pershoot's kernal says NTSF support, but clearly not for external drives.
I'm not trying to connect an external HDD. I have a 32 GB USB flash memory formatted NTFS, I couldnt understand how to use Cifs manager, and I couldnt understand how insmod command works.

Hi Guys&Gals, I have just got an on the go cable for my S2, but every time I connect to the phone and attach the memory stick the phone say's the stick is broken or needs formatting. I have formatted via PC but still comes up broken ect. Can anybody help?
I'm guessing your memory stick is formatted as ntfs. ntfs isn't natively supported, though you can get it to work using scripts and fuse.ko (search the forum).
Or if that sounds like too much effort reformat the stick as fat32 then it'll work.

Well if the stick works in a PC, then that would suggest a faulty cable... Have you tried a different memory stick?

I have rooted 2.3.5 rooted phone.
Do I need to enable any settings on the phone to activate it?

Define "doesn't work". What're you trying to plug into it?
Most things you plug into it will need more power, so you'll need to run them off a hub unless it's a very low-powered device like a usb memory stick.
I think the thread author was pretty clear. "Doesn't work" means that it is not working. How hard is that to understand?

Got my cable today and can´t get it to work.
Nothing shows when i connect pen drives, tried 3.

I read from somewhere that 2.3.5 took away OTG support. You have to use a ROM that supports it. Also, if you want to mount a NTFS partition, you need the fuse.ko specifically compiled for your kernel version. For instance, Siyahkernel comes with its own fuse.ko. The regular fuse.ko you find in this forum would work for he CF-root kernel while none is compiled for the TWD kernel yet. FAT32 should mount automatically.
It works for me. Except NTFS files won't show up in gallery automatically. I have to use es file explorer to open.

Looking around can´t find a rom that says OTG working or 2.3.5 does not support usb OTG.
I´ll try to install 2.3.3 to see if works or the cable i have got might be faulty.
As far as I know every custom rom except the stock rom will support OTG, at least for FAT32-formated sticks. USB sticks work for me in both NTFS and FAT32. I attempted to mount a solid state drive but failed. The SSD light is lit only for half a second. I guess the phone doesn't have enough juice to power a SSD. I haven't tried putting it in an enclosure that supports external power though.

Buy a SATA to USB converter, and connect the USB one to your phone.
Then you connect the power connection of your SSD to your PC, start up your PC and it must work

I tried that. It seems sata to USB converters are not supported by galaxy either.
I have a stock 2.3.4 SGII, rooted.
Sata2USB works, as long as the phone doesn`t have to power the device. If I use one of those USB cables that has 2 connectors on one end (1 is for additional power) and let the PC power the USB device, the phone works perfectly with external HDDs.
I haven`t tested NTFS yet, but it works perfectly withg FAT32, ext 2/3/4, either on usb drives or external HDDs.
The only problem is that non-FAT32 partitions must be manually mounted.

Please i need help reading ntfs partitions with my SG3. First of all the main question: It's possible to read and write a USB Pendrive or HDD with SG3?
I have tried NTFS Mounter without luck. A 2.5'' HDD shows power but nothing happens. A USB Pendrive is recognized by SG3 but it asks me to erase the USB Storage.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but afaik the S3 does not bring native support for the ntfs-3g driver.
However since it has the Fuse kernel-module it would (should) not be that difficult to actually get it to work.
It brings out-of-the-box support for OTG USB-adapters and seems even to be able to handle USB-hubs with several usb sticks connected.
But, as said, not NTFS; only exFat/Fat32 and Linux filesystems such as EXT2/3/4.
I was able to use a script and ntfs-3g on my SG2 and it could read ntfs without problem problem. Anyone here has tried to do the same with a SG3?

I think that all android devices support fat32 filesystem, the problems its the storage limitation of 4gb max per file in the sdcard.
I been trying to avoid the limitation of 4gb in all my android devices with this results, giving using different filesystems on my sdcard (ext2, ext3, exfat, ntfs...).
Galaxy s3: supports fat32 and exfat
Chinese tablet aoson m7: Suppots fat32 and ntfs
Chinese phone Lenono A760: Suppots only fat32.
Andoid its based on linux, but none of my devices recognice the sdcard with ext2 or ext3 formats.
Also I don't understand why only the chinese tablet supports NTFS. It's because they paid to microsoft so they can use that filesystem?
How it's possible that any device supports a free filesystem like ext3???
I think that I will get rid of the lenovo a760...I need to use files larger than 4gb.

Thanks, I want to use my phone as bittorrent client, that why i need to use big files often. I'm root.
I don't have a USB OTG cable...
I have the sd card with ext4 format as primary partition and it's not working.
I think that it's not an easy way to use files biger that 4 gb in this chinese phone.
I also tried to NTFS format and this tool https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paragon.mounter&hl=es and the phone freezes often...it's not a solution at all.
It's frustating that a chinese tablet supports perfectly ntfs and the s3 exfat, but with this phone, ther¡s no way...i been trying all day long! I gave up.

For complicated reasons (I installed GTA V with wine on it) I must only use F2FS (not even ext4 worked, even though that's what the SSD in my laptop is formatted as).
Is Android, a system based on a Linux kernel, really incapable of mounting an external SD card (to be clear, I have no intention of using it as adopted storage)? I'm rooted, I have magisk if that's what it takes to mount an F2FS medium.

In order to mount a f2fs filesystem, the following must be taken into consideration:
1. Android uses modified linux kernel, don't expect it to work like the one on the laptop
2. Your device's kernel must have support for f2fs filesystem, you will have to ask on your device forum whether it supports f2fs. If it doesn't, you will have to compile a custom kernel
3. If your device kernel supports f2fs but is unable to mount it, your kernel might be missing some modules, you will have to search whether somebody compiled it or you will have to compile one yourself and place it in /etc/init.d folder for it to load during device boot
