Popular phone with devs? - Motorola Droid RAZR

I just ordered a Droid Razr and was wondering if there is going to be large development community? Anybody showing interest?
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk

I have also ordered 1 droid razr soon i will get one

I have also ordered one so there's at least three of us now.......

dev support should be there
Considering the bootloader will be unlocked everywhere except in the USA, the dev support should be pretty good. It is just a matter of circumventing the bootloader before the Americans can fully join the party. Also, I doubt it will be exclusive to VZW for long, so the Americans could join in then too.

I have also ordered one so I'm the fourth

I think you all are wrong....i bought atrix 6 month ago, i bouth a photon 1 month ago, now i have droid 3 and still no development for motorola phones

But you have to keep in mind that ATRIX was first released in AT&T (As far as I know no one loves AT&T in America) and it was released LATER in other places with a high price to the point where no one was interested
Droid 3 is only USA and Photon isn't that much of international
But expect WAY TOO BIG support for RAZR as it's literally being released everywhere, even north Africa - Sudan and Egypt. It's THAT big, it's everywhere, it should have a gigantic support.
I'm probably getting the phone too but I don't know **** about developing so don't add me with y'all.

Ordered mine yesterday with Optus Business Australia
Woot Woot!!!

Ordered mine couple of days ago. Should arrive sometime next

loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool this is hilarious.

I live in Cyprus and I'm thinking about buying it (international version unlocked bootloader), but I prefer custom roms, opinions about being worth it or not...

Moved to proper forum.

I think the RAZR will get lots of dev's. The atrix has picked up quite a bit since it first came out.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus....get it or wait for ICS on the MoPho

Just wondering should I get the Galaxy Nexus which is really nice especially running ICS but I really love my MoPho ...what do you guys think? Should I wait for ICS on my MoPho or get the GN ?
Phone looks awesome but it wont drop until november. And its probably a vzw exclusive for the time being. They didnt comment much on carriers at the release.

There is no freaking way in hell I would do business with Verizon ever again, so that's an easy choice for me.

This. And as far as trying to build out the brand, it was a poor move to put this into the hands of Verizon the same day the Razr was announced. It sucks because of the fact that data is moving into the cloud, access $80 per 5 piece. I'll never go back to Verizon and the MoPho is a device I can stick with for awhile because the communications and GPS functioning on the device is great.

No right or wrong answer. If you want to go with Verizon in a month or 2, certainly they will make it easy to do so.

Ummm, probably because he wants some opinions and thoughts to help with his decision!!
im hearing a lot of speculation of sprint getting it mid q1 next year (just in time to announce their first LTE sites) at which point i will be selling my gf's soul to get one
(dont worry she doesnt actually have a soul.. )
I love everything about the Galaxy Nexus and am really tempted to upgrade. But two things threw me off:
- exclusive to Verizon. What the heck. What happened to the promise to be open and not stick to one carrier? That was just last year when they released the Nexus S!
- Likely to be CDMA only. As a student from Hong Kong that goes back every half year, I need my GSM connectivity on my Photon.
Now that Google bought Motorola, I have high hopes that they will bring ICS to Photon.

the international version is gsm and carrier unlocked, just the same as the previous nexus. if you are on tmo or att that version will work fine
verizon exclusive is only until sprint gets lte set up. sprint just bought a CRAPLOAD of iphones and is subsidzing them at a horrible cost to themselves. once they have the capital and lte networks up i expect to see a sprint version
*cries* Yeah and I wish they hadn't done so now they are so cash strapped it'll be a while before we see improvements around here? :/

It will most likely come to the photon one way or another so I'm going to patiently wait. By the time there will be any talk of ICS on our photons we'll be dabbling in sweet sweet CM7.

I was asking everyone for their opinions just to get some idea of what I should do...I would wait for sprint to get the device because I used to work for Verizon and they are full of **** over there but I am not sure about the devices as a whole...things have been moving really slow over here and I give much thanks and props to the guys that have been developing over here but I am used to flashing at will without all of the problems with 4g wifi etc...I get bored easily so I am already looking for my next device but when I can flash at will it keeps my current device fresh and new for me and I don't get bored with it as fast....if I can get ICS in the next couple of Weeks thru a leak our something I will be good until upgrade time I guess
Motorola is probably working on it but a release of ics won't be until march April maybe.. It won't come overnight but in time...

For example Samsung Infuse released with froyo and Samsung almost forgot about this phone.

Best price/online store to buy Global non-Verizon RAZR ?

I've bought from Negri electronics a couple of times but they are currently listing the Verizon "Droid RAZR" only
https://negrielectronics.com/motorola-droid-razr-spyder-black-unlocked.html
Any suggestions on where to place a pre-order ??
USA dealer prefered
PS
XT910 = world version RAZR
XT912 = verizon "droid RAZR"
Two UK based retailers taking Pre-orders now:
http://www.clove.co.uk/motorola-razr-spyder
http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/5717/motorola-razr--spyder--smartphone--sim-free-unlocked-
edit: just saw your "US preferred" comment - sorry
It's rumored to be released on Rogers Nov 4, and I believe they are getting the non-verizon one
Handtek just confirmed that Motorola Razr appeared at their stock (however web site was not updated yet). I've made a preorder about a week ago and it seems like the best available deal at the UK market today.

Handtec have global or Usa version?
I wrote to handtec and the answer is "I am sorry for this error, the Razr will only be in stock in the next 7 days, this was erroneously placed into stock today and will only be with us around the 7th November"
I'm not sure how reputuable they are but I found this through a search:

Damn handtec! One of the reason I chose them instead of clove is stock availability
Unlocked-mobiles (mostly cheaper then at handtec and clove)
Handtec (cheaper then at clove)

I am selling my xt910

I was one of the early adapters who paid full price for it. Been waiting for 3 months for the promised bootloader unlock solution but instead of solution, motorola just made me feel stupid with my money. Check out the following thread for the words of treachery.
https://forums.motorola.com/posts/df4c8f0cd7
Honestly, whenever i take my xt910 outta my pocket, i remember i was cheated. I will probably buy used atrix or photon.
Happy days to everyone with their Razrs.

Why don't you just root & download & flash 2.3.6?
It's not that hard. 2.3.6 is visually different but I don't see a grat improvment over 2.3.5.
Stop fretting, Your not missing much.
Enjoy the Razr

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. That's how World War II was started.
It's 5:30am on the West Coast and 8:30a on the East. Lazy suits that make millions don't do Jack before 12pm.
Give it time.
I bet that there will be no ics today :-D
Don't we typically see some sort of "whats in this release" document from Verizon before any updates. I remember seeing them on all the updates even the last minor one.

The update is coming very soon. An ICS update has been leaked. There are multiple people posting that they received soak test invites. None have posted that it has started. The update will come a few days after the soak test starts if there are no major issues. I would be surprised if it was more than a few weeks.

From what I understand the soak test was pulled do to a problem with the sideloading. They have to fix that issue before the soak testers can even test it. So who knows when we will get it now.

Sorry but I call BS. I doubt Verizon does phased rollouts based on ESN assigned to where you bought the phone. The overhead and expense of doing that is astronomical.
That and you have nothing to back it up besides wishy washy logic.

Moving on from the RAZR

After a year and then some, I'm signing off on the RAZR. I just got the Sony xperia zr. The battery is not a patch on the maxx but I needed a phone that was faster and the RAZR was just getting a little too slow.
So with a heavy heart, I move on. If anybody in India wants to buy a rooted RAZR maxx that's a little bruised, hit me up in a pm. Otherwise, I wish everyone here the best. I'm sure I'll be back if and when Motorola decides to reenter the Indian market.
Till then, it is adios from me on this forum. It's been an awesome run and I learnt so much in the past year from the awesome devs here. Wish you guys the best.
Cheers,
Djpeesh

awesome news, hope they launch world phones in india
there is a dearth of cdma phones with no telecom company or handset manufacturer offering goods handsets for the cdma crowd.
Being camped for new phone for 8 months, i'm waiting for motorola just because i want my phone to be a motorola that's why i am still sporting with my trusty Razr. I recently changed the battery and i have a RAZR MAXX now, it is a different experience.I easily get 2 days even if i play games for hours, watch videos and 3g browsing. Have no fear of empty battery. It is a good reason for me to stay with it until new motorola line up appears.
I even just bought a new Droid Razr white for my wife. So,I use her Droid Razr Maxx now. It's a 'lil bit slow but it's still acceptable for daily use and it's a 2011 lineup so I don't complain much about it. I love its build quality and design. It's still the lovable design android phones for me. If you got a new phone, don't sell it. Keep it always coz its design is the best around.
Sent from my XT897 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Yeah just got ahold of a brand new white razr myself. Sure you could say it's a little bit dated from a hardware standpoint, but damn right it's still able to hold its own against the competition, I'm saying this coming from several iphones - not that these are references either but I'm enjoying my razr so far. And yeah it absolutely blows in white. Would have loved to get the battery longevity of the Maxx but aside from the battery, both phones are exactly the same and it did not justify the steep extra cost for me.
I am moving on from RAzr as well, i am considering to go for xperia zl....

Still the same ... batterielife ist awsome
Yep. The battery in the maxx still brings me back to this forum. But I tried using it today and somehow it just doesn't appeal to me anymore.
The laggyness just kills the goodwill of the battery. But given that the Sony xperia zr doesn't have a forum on xda, I miss being part of the modding scene.
So expect me to pop up once in a while out here. And don't hold your breath on Motorola coming back to Asia. Still not on their radar apparently.
