Bright New Titan and and impossible to import contact from SIM - HTC Titan

Hi everyone, I have the option greyed and when I put back the sim card to my sony ericsson all the contact of the sim appeared. I don't want to send all my phonebook to WIndows live, I just have name and phone number to import.
Is someone having the same problem?
Regards

The Sony Ericsson is not running Windows Phone 7, right?

Hmm, I never save my contact on my sim card, everything is in Google so easier for me to port over if I change phone / OS.

I use Windows Live on my laptop and it is great because it stores everything online and includes your Facebook and LinkedIn friends in your contacts database.

I had the same trouble, shop told me active sync would work the same as my HD2.... so when I looked to inport contacts and calendar from MSoffice on pc to phone angry at the idea of having to make it all available to the web first... Is there any other way????

If the option on your phone is grey'd out, it means that the phone doesn't detect anything on the SIM or you don't have anything on the SIM. I would suggest trying to copy them over again.

Click to collapse
"import contact from sim"...copies all contacts from sim card to phone,....for setting contact as favourite, it should be on phone, not on sim
i have the same problem as raphy82.
I import my contacts from SIM, the Pop-Up seems to copy the contacts from SIM to internal memory. but after copying, my contacts are not on my device. only on the SIM.
I use the newest official htc rom 3.14 since today.
I have found a solution for the contact import problem.
You have to open the sim manager in Phone/Contacts/Menu
Mark all your contacs and select copy in the menu.
Your phones copies your contacts on your sim to your device.
Greez
HEllo, Diaclone^
Thanks, i worked,
in my phone it says not "Copie" but "Contact to SIM ..."
Just click on that and Voila...
Now you have your contacts both on Sim and on Phone =)
Good Work and Thanks

[Q] Two HD2's linkning ?

I have a wierd situation I am wondering if someone else may have had the same experience with. My wife and I just got 2 HD2 Leo from Tmobile. I installed the Droid Nexus ROM on it. Everything seems ok except the wierdest thing keeps happening. In Droid if one of us adjusts our contacts somehow it affects both phones. I was at work today when she made some changes to her contacts and it deleted some of mine. How could this be happening? The phones are miles apart. Does anyone know whats up? Also is there an easy way to delete all contacts in the Nexus one without having to select one by one. Thanks for any help!
- Jc
You don't mean SIM contacts, right? Because both of you guys have different sim cards so I'm leaning toward google contacts or other web-based email contacts?
well actually I mean sim card phonebook contacts. On my phone last night I was in windows and copied all my contacts to the SIM, Then I booted DROID and imported the contacts to the directory. Well this morning my wife noticed all my contacts had been stored in her phone. I thought that was wierd but what made it crazier is that she then deleted all but a few contacts from her phone. On my way home this evening I noticed I only had a few contacts in my list. Really Wierd. What she changed also affected my phone. We have HD2 Leos running DROID Nexus,
Any Thoughts?
Are both of you running the droid ROM? So you flash the same ROM onto both phones, correct? I'm sure the explanation here is very simple just that I can't articulate it in a manner that is best understood by you. It couldn't have been SIM contacts because those are unique to the SIM, and you can't delete/add contacts to that SIM unless it's actually on the phone that you're operating. Under winmo, if your contact is saved onto a SIM, then you should see the sim card icon next to their name, if it's a PHONE contact, then it has a figure of a person next to their contact.
Imagining if I'm using an IM client, if I add a friend's screen name on the computer, and that new screen name is linked to my account on a web server, then I expect the new screen name to show up on the chat client on my phone. I suspect the same thing is happening with your phone. You probably set both phones up with the same account and whatnot, and when you add/delete/sync new contacts, it affects whoever is using that account. I don't think this has anything to do with SIM contacts at all, but has to do with google accounts when you first set up the phone with the droid ROM. Again, that's just my guess.
I think I understand what you mean. We did actually use the same Gmail account to set up each ROM. So we should use different Gmail accounts huh? I didn't realize there was such an intricate connection between Gmail and DROID OS. I am totally new to the DROID, actually this is my first smartphone period.
So what do you suggest is the fix? Hard reset one phone ? How to I get it back to where I can put a different gmail account on the phone?
How do i delete my contacts off her phone now ? lol
You don't need to hard reset. You're running android off of an SD card so just delete (or format if you want) everything android related off of that SD card and put in another copy. When you go through the setup/registration process, use a different gmail account. WHAM!
So I can just delete the android folder from the phone? I really don't want to have to format it if I can get around it. doesn't that wipe everything off the drive?
what drive? I meant formatting your SD card. Anyway, I think i'm just confusing you even more.
Yes, delete the android folder and create a new one on the SD card.

[Q] how to save contacts to sim on Mozart ...

Hi,
How to save to my phone contacts (all or one by one) to my sim card so if i use my sim in another phone I get my contacts as well?
cheers...
Any body facing same issue
I don't think that is possible. You can copy the sim contacts to your phone so they can be synced to Windows Live but not the other way around.
You have to remember that WP7 is a very cloud based mobile OS...
thanks for reply, but its a basic feature that SIM can be used in other phones and not every phone syns with cloud or with outlook. so need transfer some important contact on SIM so these are always there. any other way transferring contacts from Mozart to other phone e.g. Motorola or Nokia. Bluetooth?
cheerss
I understand that other phones can do that, but WP7 is not other phones and right now it cannot be done. Sometimes missed features on the OS can be complemented with an app, Have you tried that?
Bluetooth is not supported either, at least not right now. You have an easy way to pass contacts to other phones, since WP7 is cloud based, you can manage all that stuff through the internet! Just go to your Hotmail contacts or Gmail contacts (or others, Outlook, Yahoo, etc) and export them in a format that you can import on other phones.
Agreed that WP7 is really at it's early stages and loads of features are missed e.g tethering
but my problem is that i use my SIM in some other phone while on roaming and that phone is a basic Motorola phone, not connected to internet and just for calls and sms. now how to transfer contacts to that phone? I only know the way of transferring contancts via SIM or bluetooth. any suggestion?
cheers...
Try to see if you can connect your phone to your computer and manage the contacts via motorola software or other. Also check if you can import contacts directly in your phone (nokias can do this). If you import via PC or phone you can export the contacts from the internet and then import them on the phone.
actually my other phone is a very basic Motorola L2. so need soem straight forward method to copy contacts.
But one thing strange, copying/saving contacts to SIM used to be a standard feature always. does this mean that in future we won't be having any SIM memory?
cheers...
I have no clue if this would be added to WP7 on future updates, but i don't really need it, as smartphones in gereral are more and more cloud based, and WP7 is even more cloud based than iOS or Android for instance.
Bringing old query again
any app out there that can copy the contacts to the SIM on HTC Mozart?
Hi, old query again.
is there any method even after Mango upgrade, to copy contents from my HTC Mozart to the SIM?
I don't understand why we cannot copy our contacts on windows phone to the sim card.
Its a cloud based OS and its supposed to send and receive your info from online accounts like Windows Live Hotmail, Gmail and others.
Maybe on homebrew someone will be doing it

Contact pictures missing in Messaging app

My Contacts app shows me the pictures for my contacts but my messaging applications (stock Message and GO SMS Pro) do not show the pictures for nearly all my contacts.
Is there any way to solve this issue? Everything was fine on my Galaxy S.
Anyone?
SOLUTION FOUND:
" Hi,
I had almost exactly the same problem, and since I just discovered the nature of the problem and how to solve it, I thought that I'd make the effort to register and post something. I hunted around on the web for a day and didn't find any answers---many people appear to suffer with a similar problem---so I think that this might help a lot of people.
First, I'm using Android 4, ICS, on a Samsung Galaxy S3. For some reason, after I installed GoSMS Pro, setup the Facebook account, and started tinkering with my contacts, the contact photos in both the stock Messaging application and GoSMS Pro disappeared. I could still see the contact photos in the Contacts application, but both SMS applications showed ghosts for the images for all but a couple of contacts. The three or four contacts with photos seemed to have nothing in common. Some were people who had no photo in Facebook. One was someone with only a Facebook profile picture and no picture on my phone or in Google Contacts.
When I was using the stock Messaging application, I tried to edit some contact information directly from the menu in the conversation thread, and I found that the application appeared to be using the contact entry from my SIM card. I think that on my previous phones I had set up the SIM card as contact memory for a long time, and even after I started using the phone memory on a previous Android phone, I think that I synchronized the SIM card and phone entries a few times. (I'm not sure; my old phone has a broken screen, so I can't check if the older Android version had a function to synchronize phone contacts with the SIM card.) I knew from previous experience with the SIM card that the SIM card would not store photos as part of its contact entries, so of course, if the messaging applications were consulting the SIM card for the contact information, then they would not have show photos for contacts found first on the SIM card. I deleted a SIM card entry that already existed on my phone and in Google contacts, and when I removed the SIM card entry for the person, the picture popped right up.
To make a long story short . . .
THE PROBLEM: Android 4 does not appear to let you select a contact source as the exclusive source of contact information for all applications---if you read the Contacts options carefully, you'll see that Contacts only allows you to select a source to display as opposed to exclusively access---and if you have a SIM card contact entry for a person, Android 4 appears to serve it first to the messaging applications.
THE SOLUTION: Switch Contacts to display from the SIM card, and remove the SIM card entries one by one. The images in other sources should appear in both GoSMS Pro and the stock Messaging application.
Thanks, and I hope that this helps someone. " -kulisecs on Android Central

old thread I know but is their a better solution than deleting all sim contacts?
gotta be a tweak somewhere as I never saw this on my SII running JB 4.2.2.
I'm running stock 4.1.2 but am rooted.
was it 'fixed' after 4.1.2 or is it because I had Slim Bean rom on my SII?

[Q] Help an old lady please

This will probably seem a ridiculously easy question to you but I am a complete dummy where technology is concerned.
I have a Nokia Lumia 920 under contact. I want to cancel the contract and use another network (abroad). I have copied my contacts to the phone, but what I'd like to know is, is anything else stored on the sim? If I change networks I'm assuming I'll have to change the sim and I don't want to lose anything.
If anyone is able to answer this, please use real simple instructions for me to follow!
Thanks in anticipation.......
What provider? As far as I know, not even contacts are stored on the SIM anymore. I've switched SIMs a number of times and restoring backup from OneDrive has always been enough.
You helped an old lady
Thank you dreary!
all contacts is saved to Microsoft account (is important to use it because backup and other Microsoft services). you can check contacts online via address https://people.live.com/. there you can manage and export contacts to Outlook or other services (Google, etc)...
