Root anything? Root jetstream? - HTC Jetstream

From another thread on XDA,
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/want-to-root-something-anything-try-doomlords-easy-rooting-toolkit/
Anyone willing to try it on their Jetstream lolol?
Would it work?

Will try after work and report back.

It was a no go. Not surprising though given that the tool was designed to root Froyp/Gingerbread devices.

i think the other problem is that there is no way to do a physical battery pull and get to the bootloader and go into recovery mode

It all Jetstream are built the same, then you can force off by holding the power button until the unit shuts off. When mine locked due to a faulty app, is what I did, I held the power button for about 20 or 30 seconds and the unit powered off. Would it be the same as pulling battery, or pulling the battery is critical to the root process..???
I truly hope someone roots it, because this tablet has to much potential locked inside that is making it "just another" tablet.
When running some test the processor hardly EVER get above 1.13GHz applying load, imagine if this thing gets rooted..!!

Thanks for the tip! you are 100% right... i think your method is the fastest way
before i was shutting the power off and then did the vol - and power method.
yup i hope it gets r00ted soon aswell

I can tell you all that I tried this on my htc vivid with no success. Att and htc are starting to tick me off about this. Thinking of returning my vivid for a Samsung skyrocket. No reason for all of this locked down bootloader crap.
Have you guys been able to atleast temp root with the zergrush method. Maybe look in the vivid dev forum and see if it can help a little.

Now you can unlock your vivid and jetstream bootloader via htcdev.com

Streaming worked?
I was reading in the general section and responded there too, its checking for drm which our devices don't actually have which is causing the error not allowing us to use playback
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
Hmmm could be editing apk (if possible I don't even know) to not check or if it checks to automatically say yes instead of checking?

Yea, the second image, towards the bottom, thats where you can see it's trying to check the drm.
I was able to find the drm.apk and odex in the evo forums found here if anyone else wants to play with it.
Also, I'm trying to download the whole dump so I can play with it and see if there is anything in the /system/lib that we may be missing, but every where I try I never get a full download, so any help on that would be much appreciated
this is awesome, this needs to get more exposure maybe some devolper can figure out how to get drm on our phones so we can stream
We have drm(I think). Just not the right permissions it looks like. Going to play with this mote tomorrow, need sleep.

Just checked, we do. It's under
/system/app/drm provider.apk
At least that's the case for royal glacier 1.4

Yes we do have the DRM Provider.
If stock then it's version 2.2.1 - I noticed the dumped version is 2.2.2
Ye, that was just one idea to look through that i found on the evo forums, I'm thinking what were looking for is gonna be in the revolution dump itself, probably under /system/lib.
Only problem is I still can't get the full thing to download from any source that I've found, it always shorts out at around 380-400mb on me and the full dump is 442mb
wow, this is actually pretty exciting.! I wish I could code at that level..
This will be so awesome when works, cannot wait!!!

It's really up in the air at this point. On one hand, there could be some hardware based decrypting the chip is capable that older chips can't do. On the other hand, it could just be that they're not allowing streaming from any android devices right now.
When somebody gets the revolution and fires up netflix, we'll have something to troubleshoot with.
I've replaced the drm provider apk but i can't seem to find where the .odex goes. has anyone found that?

While this is awesome news, I'm not as impatient as some for all this to happen. We have a fully functional "perma-temp" root right now, and while that'll only hold until a reboot, it's an awesome step in the right direction. This should be interesting, not only for developers, but also for regular users such as myself.

Just curious, but how is it not quite good enough for you? Temp Root does everything Perma Root and S-OFF will do, just when you reboot you have to reapply it. Though yes. Having Perma Root would make our lives that much easier.

Testing has been closed. Thank you to those who have helped as well as those who have expressed interest. It did not work so I will revise my toolkit with the newly implemented UI soon.
The feature that was in testing was to flash ROMs all through fastboot without the need of using recovery. So basically my toolkit would be your all-in-one tool from unlocking your bootloader to installing a custom ROM to your phone without even touching your phone at all.

The tool is still gonna look like that but without the ROM flashing part. I like to have clean and east looking software. Remember, I use it personally as well so I make it the way I feel would be right for me to use.

S-Off only tool?

Thinking of making a temp S-Off Toolkit and then merge them together later. I am thinking of including

Link for ICS
HBOOTs (give me them) - Sorry no ENG HBOOT -> X requested not to share it.

Not gonna add Radios since Noobs will brick there phones.

Why is S-OFF so important? We can already flash custom ROMs and kernels, granted it's a 2-step process, but it's a minor "problem". What else would S-OFF give us besides bragging rights?

A variety of other options like flash radios, special oem commands depending on bootloader, etc. For the average user it really is not that vital.

S-Off gives you many functions that you don't have with a standard unlocked bootloader. It unlocks fastboot commands like "erase" . It lets you flash protected partitions like hboot. Ect
