Dropped mine onto sidewalk. No case. Struck the bottom left corner. Dinged the bezel around the gorilla glass. No other damage.

SII's are super durable, dropped mine on pavement 5 times, minimal scratches. My brother dropped his iPhone 4s once and the glass shattered on the back. I laughed at him and then he went to the AT&T store... lol

I have two cases that I use.
Case mate with the kick stand I don't use often, but have dropped my phone at least 10 times on asphalt in that case, phone is perfect
Other is the sgp case that I use daily, it's beat up but phone is still perfect.

Dropped mine prob about 5 or 6 times since Ive had it from Day it launched. No scratches yet. Dropped it twice before i got a case

No drops, no scratches, no butter
fingers.

This is THE first device I got a case for BEFORE I dropped it that resulted in cosmetic damage.

Dropped mine the first hour of ownership as I was handing it off to my mom so she can see it lol. No marks though! Case coming in the mail too

I barely touched it the first week i got it. I've never had a phone this nice, the closest I've came to a nice phone was a palm pre a year after release.
So now I've got a Rearth case and screen protector. I'm paranoid. i probably handle this phone with more care than my own kids.... ?

OK, now I feel like I'm on borrowed time, so I just put in a case order on Amazon.

I'm still waiting on otterbox to make one for the ATT version, once its out I will get it, till then, its BE VERY VERY CAREFUL, and no butter for me.

I actually ordered the Otterbox case for the international version with the recommendation that it does fit the AT&T version perfectly and that the upper noise cancellation mic doesn't give any grief because of the cover. We shall see what happens ...
I don't know why, but for such a flagship phone, the cases really aren't forthcoming.

Yeah I read about that, which is why I am currently waiting instead of purchasing an international version. Also I would have just drilled a hole where the mic was... but might as well wait.

I always roll naked with my phones. Nothing yet. I usually don't drop my phone

And NO, not even a scuff mark on mine. I did have a rubber case on it the time though.

I was just curious.
I've dropped mine a small handful of times. thing is pretty resilient though. only cosmetic issues are some scratches around the camera lens.

Twice. My TPU case has held up well as you cant tell that Ive dropped my phone (no scrapes, scratches or chips). Best $2.99 I ever spent.

Dropped mine 4 times. First time w/o a case and got a couple small scratches on the case. After that I quickly got a case and no damage since...more drops to come I am sure. Phone is pretty 'tough'...
The only time I dropped a phone was around 2 summers ago, it was an HTC Aria, screen got shattered, it had no cover and went face down on tarmac. It was the first time and the last one. I never use a cover on my phones, I do have them for when ever my daughter wants to use it. but the majority of the time is just naked.
Got mine on release day. I always roll "naked" with my phones. I hardly ever drop my phones. But this one is so damn light I keep forgetting it's in my lap when I jump out the car so I got some bezel dings. No biggie to me

Dropped my phone

Was getting out of the car today and had my phone sitting in my lap and it fell to the ground and landed on the bottom left corner and proceeded to tumble across the parking lot all the while managing to dodge some puddle of who knows what. I picked it up and to my amazement just a scratch on the outer corner no cracked screen. I am amazed at how sturdy this phone seems to be. That fall would have shattered my old iPhones screen. I love this freaking phone!

Yup, most of the drops that I've had are just minor nicks on the corner but thats about it! I can't even take a picture of it because you don't notice it until you get really close to it...

Mine fell about 5 feet onto a tile floor day after I put my Taurus bumper on. Not a scratch on the phone or bumper.
When I first got my i777, I was so scared to even touch it, it was my first nice phone other than a Palm Pre, but this is a super phone. Saw very little use until screen protector and case arrived.
It's my baby.
I did something similar fell onto parking lot bounced and hit the under carriage of my car then back to the ground again. No case or screen protector or anything. Lucky and the phone is indeed durable. It got a few scratches along the outer edges and corners but everything still works and the screen still looks great. Almost couldn't believe the screen didn't crack

Mine dropped while I was trying to put it in my pocket, the corner hit the ground then the screen. I expected the screen would have a lot of scratch but when I picked it up, the outer edge corner damaged and the screen have a very little scratch near the Samsung Logo. Never thought it only has those damage while my old captivate scratch by putting it with a business card in my pocket. I sold my S2 to my brother for 300 and get the international one but still miss the ATT S2. It was the best phone I've ever had, It has nothing that I could complain about. Will get another one next week because the International never gave me the same experience the ATT version did.
I will use my phone without a case. This thing has passed the thoughness test. It has fallen so many times I lost count.
It has a few scratches but the screen is in perfect condition even though it has fallen screen first a few times

Dropped My Phone :(

I am usually very good about handling my phone and keeping it safe since I keep it naked. But last night as I am coming in from outside, my DNA slips out of my pocket and I hear it hit the ground. I had a brief moment where I thought the phone would be OK, that lasted until I saw the the phone landed screen down!!
I picked it up and can already feel the screen was shattered before turning it over.
It looks like I was angry at it and took a hammer to it.
But good news is I purchased the phone with my AMEX :good: so they will credit back the amount of the phone and I just have to pay my insurance deductible with Verizon to get a new one.
AMEX
I love AMEX. I paid for my DNA the same way. I have dropped mine as well, but only a small chip up by the speaker. I Have put an OtterBox Commuter on is since, and I can't even see the chip anymore.
Cheers!
Ok so I used my Amex too, but didn't know they'd cover a drop. Hmm

Yes, for the first 90 days from purchase, if you accidentally damage the item or have your item stolen or lost; you can file a claim to have your $$ reimbursed in the form of a statement credit.
I dropped my phone about 1 ft onto the asphalt road, getting out of my mazda miata, with the phone on my lap. Landed upside down. Phone was naked. Screen was shattered.
I paid the $100 deductible w/ Asurion, and have kept the phone in a TPU case since then.
I LOVE the way the phone feels without a case, and the glass that goes all the way to the edge of the phone, with its bevel. But, unfortunately, that makes the phone highly susceptible to shattering with a fall
Dropped mine getting out of the car too within 2 days of buying it... Got a brand new one from Asurion though so i'm not too mad
Every time I ride my Ducati I tell myself that everybody on the road is trying to take me out.
And I never stop telling myself that while I'm on the bike.
Every time I reach for my phone I tell myself that I am going to drop it at any minute.
And I never stop telling myself that the entire time the phone is in my hand.
It's safer....and less expensive that way.

So to say the least I have beaten this phone pretty hard.. Dropped it more times than any other phone and no cracks just dings but what happened today takes the prize...
So i was in the shower with the phone on the sink counter and my alarm started going off, I heard it going off for maybe a straight minute and then all I heard was bam bam PLUNK. the damn thing vibrated itself off the counter bounced off the toilet paper roll straight into the toilet... Completely emerge the phone was still on, alarm was still going, and everything still works!! (after taking it apart and letting a fan blow on it for a bit)

Indeed, mine progressed today to the point the screen does not register any input. I can't wait for my replacement to arrive, my old 3GS is exceptionally painful to use.
I've a chip in the plastic next to the volume rocker, and a small split where the glass casing and sides meet. Fixed by cheap case.

Agree with the others here. The phone is just too damn slick to put a case on, for me at least. I love a naked phone and will take the chance. However I try to be extremely concious and careful when taking it in and out of my pocket. If its not in there then its on my desk nice and flat nowhere near an edge lol.
I'm not gonna push my luck though. Glass back and glass front? I feel like if it hit the ground in any way shape or form its gonna break. Super slick phone but super delicate. However I wouldnt have it any other way.

I don't consider this good advice. My phone slipped out of my jacket pocket as I was taking it off and it hit the ground with a bottom corner which sent an arched crack up the bottom portion of my phone in the glass. It's not shattered or falling out of the phone, but it's still fragile.

Haven't broken the screen but the frame of this phone is crap coming from Motorola. It's hit the ground twice from less than 3 feet and has 3 rather large dents in the housing. Once was falling off the seat in my car to a rubber all season floor mat which shouldn't do crap but left a dent. I'll give samsung the nod on internal hardware but the chassis is awful. A friend of mine dropped his from about waist high onto the edge and shattered his screen.

I have a pretty extensive history with Motorola and have come to the same conclusion. I had my phone on my bed and accidentally dropped my belt on the top right corner of the phone and it left a noticeable indention. I immediately went out and bought a case for the phone even though I've never worried about one with any previous phone.

i got mine last Wednesday. love it...been super careful with it and was going to get a case yesterday on lunch...when i got to work i grabbed the phone from my console and went to get out of my truck and the phone bumped the steering wheel causing it to fly out of my hand and onto the pavement i pick it up and the outer glass is complete spider webbed and cracked all down it....sucks ....since i just got it Verizon hadn't activated my insurance or some BS so now im fighting with them to get it replaced...the insurance co don't want to do it...sigh...all else fells i found these outside case with the glass(no lcd) for 12 bucks on ebay.....:crying:
i had the razr before this and have dropped it multiple times with no cracks....

wow that looks like a good case
I carry my new phones around like they're a newborn child, won't put it in a pocket that has anything else in it or near the desk/nightstand edges. It's all about minimizing risks - like not trying to carry too many things at once.
With that being said, there's a 100% chance I'll drop this phone at some point. My GS3 survived a couple major drops with a few small dents in the corner .... as much as I like the look/feel of the GS4 a million times more than the GS3, I feel like the reduced bezel size and straight/rigid edges won't be as durable.
Get a case guys!

You people are rough on phones. I've never dropped a single phone in my life, it's always first on my mind when I move around.

Not at all. Been 2 years since I've dropped one. It's a little weird but I get kind of attached to technology and take care of it. I'm the kind of person that doesn't want a single scratch on my phone and I hate cases so I just don't drop anything and nothing belongs in my right pocket but my phone

I just got a Spigen Neo Hybrid case. It's slim and sexy, but now I'm concerned it won't offer much protection for anything but the shortest falls. I'll have to check out this one.
I got mine on release day, and haven't dropped it once. I carried it for a few days with no case to enjoy the slim profile of the phone. Bought an Incipio case for it and seems to do the job. Of course like I said... haven't dropped it. I plan on picking up that Neo Hybrid as well, its gorgeous! :good::highfive:
