[Q] e10a from 2.1(stock) to MiniCM7 (for Ant+) - your assistance requested - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Need help with a x10 mini (e10a) from Rogers in Canada. Seems this is about the worst kind to work with but...
What I am trying to do is get this device to be used with my Ant+ heart monitor and other sensors. The version that it upgrades to via automatic upgrade is 2.0.1.A.47 which is not even found in the wiki stock ROM list and not compatible with Ant. Ideally getting to 2.3 with wifi hot spot would be nice too.
From what I gather after about 5 hours worth of reading the steps are:
1. Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682&page=2
2. Unlock boot loader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
3. Flash 2.1.1.A.0.6 firmware (and M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015 base band - do they come together?)
- can't seem to find these anywhere. A link anyone? Does the x10 or the x8 version work?
4. Modify the build.prop so 3g works: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15902809#post15902809
5. Flash miniCM7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553
First off, does this sound right? Have I missed anything? Is the order right?
Secondly, after trying both Z4root and superoneclick (a couple of versions, and all exploit options in each version) I can't get this thing to root. The error I get to with S1C is:
After answer yes to "Automatic version detection failed - Is your version 2.0 or higher?" the result is:
"Getting manufacturer...
startIndex cannot be larger than length of string.
Parameter name: startIndex
FAILED"
Suggestions would be appreciated! I should note I have done some ROM updates to other Android phones, but am far from an expert (no coding capability). And have noticed each phone seems to be a bit different. This one seems to be a bit more difficult than others. Help would be appreciated.
Or, anyone want to sell me their X10 mini with working Ant+?
Cheers.

Much appreciated ChavitoArg.
I did see your post on my search, but given I only speak English (bad I know) and didn't understand the conversation so I steered clear of it.
I will give this a try.
Thanks!

So the update is that yes thank you sir I was able to get your firmware flashed to the device. Flashtool worked great. Much appreciate your efforts and reply.
But at this point I tested the Ant+ functionality (my number 1 goal) and unfortunately while this version of the firmware is said to have ant+ support, and now the apps I have been testing with (my tracks and edomondo) at least see there is an ant+ sensor, both don't work. My tracks crashes and edomondo just goes into an eternal search for the sensors. I'm assuming this means a problem with the ant+ implementation in the firmware software from stock. I heard of problems like this.
If ant+ worked I would likely just stay here, but it doesn't so I'm pressing on try to root, unlock BL and flash miniCM7.
So the next step would be to use flashtool to root as recommended. Problem is it doesn't give that option (root tool greyed out). Have tried connecting, and reconnecting with no luck. Unknown sources and USB debugging are on). Have also tried oneclickagain, and same problem as before.
SO some progress, but could still use some help. Anyone?
Cheers.

Update...
As it turns out after a little more reading and testing the firmware here from ChavitoArg DOES support ant+.
It seems you need to add the Ant Radio Service (comes up in an android market search) and then ant+ apps work. Well at least most of them (Endomondo, Sporty Pal, ANT+ Bike Display Demo) My Tracks still crashes, but that now looks like a My Tracks problem.
So for now I am sticking with Android 2.1 and working Ant+ which was my main goal.
Still curious why I can't root this thing after trying 4 different solutions and 10 attempts. Have rooted 5+ other android phones with no issues. If anyone has any ideas I'm open to trying them.
Would eventually like to get this to at least 2.2 with wifi hotspot, but need past root it to get any farther.
Thanks again ChavitoArg, your firmware rocks.

Have you tryied Flashtool 2.9.1 ? it has One click root option, is the best and easiest way to root.
Check the inbox, i sent you the link to download. I think the ant+ NATIVE support is provided by the rom MiniCM 2.1.3 and nAa kernel v5, you shoul try it. has NATIVE wifi hotspot too

[Q] Question: Debranding Vs Using a Different ROM

Before I begin, apologies and forgiveness all around
My question is quite simple. Debranding the device means, you get to use a ROM that does not have operator customizations within the user interface. It does not change the core features of the OS itself. Here is where my question(s) comes in
1) My phone is a UAE version and SEUS or OTA can't find any updates. I'd like to get to the latest of what Sony has to offer for this device though. (Currently stuck with 1.1.A.0.8)
2) My phone does not have a market app. (Apparently UAE editions don't have them yet). So, will using the debranding method bring in the built in market feature.
3) Completely unrelated, but something I'm trying to fix. The PICO TTS feature doesn't work. When I try to install Voice Data, it crashes and I have to force close.
Any inputs, suggestion, free beer is truly appreciated! Thanks All.
Assuming it's a u20i version then flashing the uk generic firmware with omnius is probably going to be the simplest way to debrand (free for the moment), if it's a u20a the 3/AU software is clean other than a "Planet 3" icon in apps that opens the browser on three au's homepage, this is easily uninstalled if the phone is rooted. There should also be a U20a generic fw for the Americas but I'm yet to come across it.
I'm not sure what the keyboard layout on the UAE version is like, if it differs from the firmware you're flashing you'll need to root the phone and import new keyboard info, there's some info regarding that in the debrand thread.
Debranding will change the preinstalled apps depending on what the firmware you use includes, so things like android market, games etc. vary across carrier and region versions of the handset.
Haven't played with PICO TTS but I'd be hopeful that a newer firmware release will solve the issue.
Okay. . . . Being the lazy man I am, I decided to rely on Omnius for the debranding. It worked well. The phone now runs the debranded UK Generic ROM. The good news for me is, I now run 1.1.A.0.12 instead of 1.1.A.0.08. The other good news is the Market App now shows.
aPaullyG: The keyboard settings currently work. I tested witin the native messaging app and it maps fine....
All in all, it appears that I have been rather lucky in up to this point.
Market is working. I am currently updating Google Maps as a test.
Everything is a success so
SpeechSynthesis data also installed itself and works now! So PICO TTS is up and running too

U gotta be joking me !!!!!!!! Wtf
well I guess x10 is pure crap
so sad I wanted grooveshark free so bad
Soz mate but its fact - a dev got it flash 10.1 working in a round about way on the hero - but it never worked properly. HTC phones with sense have flash lite (this is only really any good for displaying flash ads etc). You require Android 2.2 and a phone with a capable processor (currently only Snapdragons) to be able to run it. Flash would need to be completely rewritten to work on Armv6 devices, which is possible if adobe release the source code - but that aint gonna happen as flash aint open source.
X( stupid flash
is there any way to get grooveshark.com working?
There's an android app for grooveshark.
Sent from my E10i using XDA App
Do you guys make this crap up as you go or something??
Install 2.2 on an X10 mini and you'll have Flash working
1. Android 2.1 platform doesn't support Flash; It simply won't recognize the plugins
2. You need a capable browser using webkit 3, which again, won't install on a 2.1 platform. As before, the system files must be able to read all the features/instructions incorporated in it.
Installing the latest version of Flash 10.1 on the x10 mini is easy (after a few modifications of course) but getting the phone to recognize the plugins is the problem.
This is the fragmentation most android fanboys refuse to believe exists. Their answer - upgrade your phone: What, every time Google decide to add new features, which is 6 months.

So.... any tutorials on how to do it? Or is it one of those easy to figure out but hard to implement things.

[Q] Help would be appreciated!

Hi there, and let me introduce myself. My nickname is Phantoome and i'm new to Android.
I'm coming from an iPhone 3Gs and wanted to try something different.
I ended up buying the Sony Ericsson Xperience Mini Pro SK17i!
It had everything i needed untill i unboxed the phone lol
No seriously, i dig the Android os. Pretty neat tbh.
But i wanted to start modding some stuff about it!
Like first of all removing the factory crap, maybe try a decent theme..
But i've seen all those terms and all for example:
- ROMs (Custom firmware?)
- Flashing (Don't know this one for sure.)
I read i should be rooting the phone to be able to get root access,
or getting a different Android version (ROM?) to make it speed up and look nicer.
I recently figured out that MiniCM7Pro should do the trick for me.
I just don't want anything usefull to be having issues (like the camera, flash, gps, reception, etc..)
So i was wondering if anyone could be having some tips for me here?
Like good tutorials or something, because i noticed there are 100s of them and i don't know where to start really..
I ended up here, which made me end up here to root it first,
Now i'm not sure what to do next as i don't want to brick the phone.
He states:
- Root
- CWM
- Only 2.1.1.A.0.6 SE firmware
- Baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
Click to collapse
If you not 2.1.1.A.0.6, you need to flash FTF file via FlashTool.
Click to collapse
Should i flash the .ftf file he gives, or the stock firmware which i downloaded here (Also from this board somewhere)?
And i'm not sure which baseband i got either, don't think we use that alot here, never had issues with that on my iPhone either.
Update: I have successfully rooted the phone.
Now i think i have to downgrade (Flash?) the sucker.
ROM is the Android itself, in common words (anyone correct me if any mistakes).
Flashing: I think I won't be able to explain that.
And you are in the wrong forum. This is Xperia X10 Mini Pro, and you bought Xperia Mini Pro (without X10, they are different models in almost everything). So ask there and you maybe get a better answer.
Holy crap, how did i not notice? I'd move this thread if i was able to..
But if a mod spots this, move it if you can. I'll await reaction untill then.
Update:
I managed to get CyanogenMod 7 to work on the phone, guess Android wasn't that hard, thanks for all the nice people to help me xD
Only thing that's not working at the moment is my hardware keyboard after i've been in a 4 hour bootloop...
Maybe in a few more hours i get the keyboard to work and i'm at where i want it to be
Update:
Got the hardware keyboard to work! Aren't i a good self learning Android Student! ^^
Now one small thing left.. Getting the hardware keyboard to work azerty style instead of qwerty.
It's only partially now, as my numbers and symbols don't match the layout yet, AZQ&W do.
Update: Works!! And it only took me an hour and a half to figure out thanks to this topic.
Any moderator seeing this, this thread can be closed forgood. I've been succeeding on my own in one day.
Guess Android isn't that hard after all. You just gotta be patient and accept to learn new things.
In 24 hours, more or less.. Coming from an iPhone and haven't even used an Android in my entire life, i:
- Rooted my SE Mini Pro.
- Unlocked my Bootlock.
- Flashed to Cyanogenmod with the help of the FreeXperia tutorial and ROM.
- Fixed my Hardware keyboard input.
- Fixed the language settings of my hardware keyboard.
- Got proud of myself.

And probably some more i forgot to mention! I still have two posts, i hope to increse them soon enough.
Yet i could've made over 20 posts in this topic only if i didn't kept updating my last post lol
Thanks for reading this silly and yet informative thread on how a total noob took the selftraining course in Android.

screen trouble motorola atrix 4g mb860

Hello forum, please excused my poor english.
A few month ago i was writing a text message when my phone screen doesn't work some parts of the left side (in that moment i was using cm11 android 4.4.4, recovery bigpart). So in that moment i do not care, i was using it with the keyboard horizontal. But with the passage of time the bluetooth, font camera and wifi doesn't work correctly.
I think it was a rom trouble, so i reset my phone, but it doesn't work. I reinstall the rom, doesn't work too. Even i installed the mokee rom (android 5.0.2).
Before cm11 i used cm7, cm9 4.0.4, cm10 cm10.1 (android 4.1.1, 4.1.2, 4.2.2, 4.3) and the phone work correctly (except some bugs ). So i reinstalled every of that's roms... the same problem.
I followed the instructions in this article https :// phenobarbital.wordpress.com/2014/08/22/motorola-android-rescatando-al-soldado-atrix-4g . Doen't work too
Searching in youtube i saw a lot of people with the same problem and one of the user comment that it should be the kernel, so i flash every kernel for atrix mb860 that i found in the internet... guess what, nothing.
I'm actually using a miui rom android 4.2.2., it work AMAZING and do not reheat instead from cm7 to cm11 and mokee rom, but i have the same trouble jaja.
with this rom and cm10.1, cm11 and mokee the kernel is the same 3.1.10, i think perhaps this is the cause, but when i try to flash another rom i loss android, then i have to reinstall it (now i know why).
I'm searching for a different kernel that work in android 4.2.2 up.
I'm sorry if i bored you and excused my poor english again if anyone can helpme i being really really grateful, i love that cell phone.

Is it touch screen or screen inside that don't work? U can try official android 2.3 and test all function it's the best, some time ago I have problem with touch screen and it stop working on left side so I had to replace it, about BT and WiFi it the chipset that stops working mosty because of heat that cpu/gpu produced and it's near it. Currently i'm using cm 12.1 (build from 14.06.2016 with kernel 3.1.10 and security patches 01.05.2016) which have few bug like not working fingerprint sensor and wrongly showing that I don't have gsm connection but I have, rest is great wifi, bt, gsm data, camera, sound all work and phone don't restarts like it was sometime on kitkat.
I don't understand. In the left side of the touch doesn't work. I try with a rom named darksideblur etc i think it is 2.3, but it's the same. When i using a recovery touch the left side work, that's the reason beacause i think that may be it is a kernel trouble.
I should try with a 2.3 stock rom.
And you should try with a miui rom jaja

Interesting, the same problem occurred at my screen too, and precisely in this section (like it is on your screen) screen not work,
when I move a finger across that part of the screen, cursor skips that part.

XZ1 restoring camera/DRM keys

Hi all,
I recently picked up a used XZ1C with unlocked bootloader (thus nonfunctional camera) and started reading the XDA posts on the topic. Came across the thread on kernel and DRM bypass workaround which I highly appreciate. I wanted to ask few questions specific to my situation. I am not a newbie, had the Z3C and more recently Pixel 2 (much easier for flashing/modding) familiar with Magisk and other tools. No backup of anything (partitions or keys) in case that matters.
Looks like my device might be a USA model (nothing re: fingerprint G8441) and still runs the older firmware (built 47.1.A.12.179 with Android 8.0, see screenshot attached). I plan on using it on T-mobile USA and would like to enable fingerprint (if possible) and keep WiFi calling/VoLTE. Should I load the latest firmware and incorporate steps in this guide or do some other combination due to the existing firmware on the phone?
As far as I know, there is no TWRP recovery loaded, which I can easily do through command prompts. Is that my first step? What would I do next? If you can point me in the right direction, I will gladly read more and download/try things on my own. Thank you for any information anyone can provide.
Use a FTF where fingerprint is working e.g. Central Europe or Deutschland/Germany.
Find a suitable kernel (at least on same Android version level).
My XZ1 (no C) is running on
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xz1/development/kernel-sony-xz1-23-january-2018-t3739586
I think it is better to search an equivalent kernel for the Compact due to the screen drivers.
