[REQ] Stock bootanimation - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello guys, someone can give me the original stock animation? i wanna overwrite my custom bootanimation with the stock, so i need a .zip that i should put into the /data/local folder ... TIA

Search for the kitchen app. Download and install. Use it to download the stock boot animation. Flash and be happy.
Why would you want the stock one though. It's rather ugly and feels skugish.

The stock animations on Samsung based ROMS are the boot*.qmg files. Just delete the custom bootanimation.zip and the stock one will play. The stock audio files are PowerOn.wav and PowerOff.wav (they go in different folders).

[Q] Where to find bootanimation.zip in galaxy s2?

Hi fellaz, i really want to have custom boot animations installed on my gs2.. im using rooted stock KE7 which has no file that goes by this name i.e 'bootanimation.zip' instead, it has a file in system/media as ODEAnim.zip..
i tried replacing that with bootanimation.zip and ODEAnim.zip but im still getting the stock boot animation without any change :/ can someone please help us as there is no thread talkin specifically about galaxy s2 boot animations on a stock rom, and so far i dont think anybody even talked about any file ODEAnim.zip
I'm on a stock ROM and I've had no problem when I've put bootanimation.zip into system/media. It should just work, which would suggest there's something specific about your ROM that is stopping it.
Delete zip add a working bootanimation zip.

thanx for clearing that up.. another question, i have another kernel which is not CF-root im sure, so can the kernel be causing the animations to not work? is having CF-root kernel a must to get the animations workin?
hi... have you got the i9100 original boot animation? can you post it please?

Same problem, no bootanimation.zip is system/media only ODEanim.zip
I tried replacing that with boot animation.zip and even anothe animation renaming to to ODEanim.zip but still no luck.
I've ran into that before, lots of roms actually package their bootanimation however i donno where exactly..
I've gotten other boot animation zips and flashed it using CMW and it works that way.. at least that how it got mine custom boot animation.
worth a try

Custom boot animation requires a kernel that supports it .
Zip has to be placed in system/media .

Hi,
I am on a custom rom and my "bootanimaton.zip" is well in /system/media...
Is boot animation Kernel and ROM dependent. Or just Kernel?
You can also try putting the boot animation.zip into /data/local
This is with the assumption that your rom supports custom boot animations.

[Q] Simple icon theming of odex'd rom

Question, If i want to just replace the icons from the system.apk's in an odex rom, do I first need to deodex the rom or can i just do the quick (and sometimes messy) route of using 7zip to replace the res folder inside the system apk's with my modified res folder?
If I need to deodex the rom first, I'm guessing it's the same procedure to deodex an i9100 rom as it is for the i9000 rom?
Thanks!
So no-one knows if the icons can be themed without deodexing it first? I'm not asking how to do it, just if it's necessary.

Sorry for any mistake, my English is not so good. After reading theese few posts i searched in my Galaxy Ace (no brand Italy; stock ROM GingerBread 2.3.6 build XWKT7) and i tried to put in data/local a custom bootanimation.zip. After that i rebooted it and there was no change. It displayed me its stock bootanimation. Where do I have made a mistake?
Thank you, J-Hope.

Well, I searched in data/local and also in system/media and I don't have any. I have .qmg files on my 2.3.6 stock ROM... If you need some screenshots just tell me. Thank you, J-Hope

first make sure that you dont have any files in media file except audio if you have others delete them and now copy any bootanimation.zip to your media file and it will work
Just copy/replace in system media And You Can Use that
So sad men, it doesn't work. The only problem is that I haven't got any bootanimation.zip to replace: I have 2 files bootanimation.qmg and samsungloop.qmg.
I've tried to move everything except audio and put a custom bootanimation.zip in system/media but it boots with a black screen and I can't see the bootanimation. Maybe it doesn't work on Italian stock 2.3.6.
Thanks for your help, again.

I tried the 1st link method again now and it still doesn't work. My Ace boots up with a black screen, then vibrates once, then it asks me my PIN and it's all OK.

[Q] GIF For Custom Boot animations?

Hello all, Curious if I can use a series of photos or a gif image for a custom Bootanimation, and also the "preferred" method of doing so? Thanks in advance!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using my thumbs
1. look up the link in my signature to convert your gif file to a bootanimation.zip: http://aboota.devbro.com/create_zip/
2. copy the created bootanimation.zip to /system/media/
3. rename it to sanim.zip
Fyi a custom kernel is needed for a custom boot animation, which means you need Rt fish one of you're on stock and it also means it's not possible on ics ATM due to no kernel source

[Q] no bootanimation.zip

i flashed this leaked 4.2.2 rom and it gives me "hot mobile" boot animation i want to change it but then there is no bootanimation.zip file in the directory of system/media
how can i change it to one of my choice
Samsung roms use qmg files instead of bootanimation.zip
If it's rooted, it may have support for bootanimation.zip in /data/local
Otherwise there is a "how to" for making qmg animations in the general section

Flash the enable_4.2.1 file , it works on 4.2.2 also , take a backup just in case before flashing , once you ve flashed it , reboot , if u see a differentt bootanimation other than your hot mobile bootanimation , and then you can change and keep whatever bootanimations you want . :good:
P.S : If this works for you , check my signature for some super cool bootanimations !
