[Q] Flash Video stuttering in Fullscreen... - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all.
I have Quadrant Score up to 2825 @ lazy 1,4GHz - [email protected] / RieGo Kernel 0.5 without GPU OC
It runs really fast and smooth...
But my Tab is unable to play some Flash Videos (no HD... think 640x480 or less) in Fullscreen without stuttering.
On my SGSII (2.3.4 Stock) the Same Movie runs without any problems.
Honeycomb or Flash issue? Tab to slow?
Disgusting... :-(
Any Ideas to optimize the performance from the tab without changing the Rom?

Thats not tab's mistake. I m in china and they have one website called youku just like YouTube. Its big website and when i try to play video it stutters so much. But when i play videos in other websites like engadget its just flawless. So i think its problem of some websites flash or JavaScript. I guess so.

But the exact Same Video from same Website runs without Problems on my SGSII.
And its not a problem with the Connection... only with fullscreen it stutters! Without fullscreen it plays okay.

Can you share that website link? I will try that video in fullscreen and then tell u. Because i m on stock kernel so i can tryout.

With HC 3.2 the problem is gone!

[Resolved][Q]About that little thing called hardware video acceleration.

I understand due to the lack of driver source code that Hardware acceleration will not work on our tabs past 2.2(froyo). But I am currently running Calkulin+Clemsyn 1.5ghz Froyo Combo VERSION 6: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1024120 and I have tried at least 20 diff videos and diff formats using hardware codec and not one video played. I know you can use apps to play videos with software codecs but when you start going into 720p and 1080p videos the video slows way down. So is there something I'm missing? I thought the tegra 2 could handle 1080p decoding? If there is another ROM that can do HD decoding better please let me know cause video playback is what I use my tab the most for. Thanks for any help and sorry for the wall of txt lol.
Will punch the thanks button!!!
Edit: Ok after several trial and error's on trying pershoot's kernel I decided to go ahead and re-encode my videos using Freemake video converter. It works and the quality actually looks better! This program is free and it has Android presets for our tablets so that you get the best video quality at our resolution! Now I would still like to use pershoot's kernal but I can't find any froyo roms that has his/her's kernel already packed into the rom. If some one could please help me with finding one that would be super! Thanks soooo much!!!
stock rom works...

Hmmm....well I guess I'm gonna have to choose between video acceleration or a stable ROM? :/ lol is there a custom rom with hardware acceleration? Thanks so much for the answer
I used Calkulin's ROM along with whatever current kernel Pershoot had and I never had any issues with and HD videos. You might want to give one of Pershoot's kernels a shot.

Why not re-encode to a lower resolution? The GTab can't even play 720p without resizing, which is what's killing you.
1024x600 - that's the screen size. Re-encode your HD video to be under that. It will play like butter. And be considerably smaller.

Why would they say you can play up to 1080p video, if you really cant? lol Also does it matter if its 600x1024 or 1024x600? The reason I ask is because I see it different all the time lol And one more thing, What program would you suggest to re-encode? Thanks so much for everything!
Edit: Ok so I tried pershoot's newest kernel out and I love it! I get some video acceleration back and it also fixed some sound issues I was having. The only problem is that after I install the kernel it boot's up fine but if I reboot, it gets stuck in a boot loop. If I do a factory reset it will boot back up again. but if I reboot then it gets stuck in a boot loop again. So with that said I don't think this kernel is meant for this ROM. What is the best froyo ROM that includes pershoot's kernel? Thanks for everything!!!!

Is the 720p Problem solved in Cyanogen?

Happens that, in my Atrix with Stock Rom With the Latest OTA, when i download a 720p mp4 video with the Keepvid app, The system player simply says that it cant play it. if i download the normal version, without 720p it works. i've searched for it here and other forums and it says about of the video encoding being H.264. then they reached the conclusion that tegra 2 cant decode it natively... okey, but i went to the acer iconia tab of my brother who has the same tegra 2, and it played the 720p flawlessly, with the stock player! the same video! it cant be hardware if that worked.. do anybody know if this is just disabled in stock? or maybe a feature of Android 3.0+ ? Thanks in advance
Comeon people nobody ever tried this?

Flash video playback laggy

I run Overcome 2.1.1 with pershoots kernel on an overclocked tab (1,4 GHz). Everything is fine besides flash video playback. Quadrant score is above 3.000.
I tried the videos from www.gamestar.de or www.laola1.tv. Preroll-ads are being played flawlessly but the real video is laggy and stuttering (music/speech is fine). I tried both the stock browser and Dolphin HD.
Any ideas? Thank you very much!
it does that to me too, for examle @ gorillavid, it continously looses framerate throughout the video 'till its unwatchable, but thats just because the certain servers i'd say
Hi!
My 2 cents:
I can play flash video on the tab and on tv without lag with the original rom and kernel 3.2.
But if I install pershoot kernel or a rom without the original kernel I get some lag
It gets worse if I conect the tab to the tv with the hdmi adapater.
Has anyone experienced the same?
Everyone can watch flash videos without lag or drpped frames?
I can with the stock rom, but can't with the developed roms

[Q] Can't watch any internet videos anymore, why?

I have an HTC Thunderbolt running Liquid Gingerbread v3.0 ROM version liquid.mecha.20111007.150023 with a kernal 2.6.35.14-imoseyon-4.1.2AOSP
My problem is that videos from the internet will no longer play, they used to play. I have tried both the stock browser and Dolphin browser to no avail.
Youtube videos in either browser will play audio but no video, just a black box. In the youtube app, no audio or video will load, just the spinning loading wheel.
In Vimeo I get vertical colored bars in both browsers with audio.
Videos from other sources either won't load or will play only audio with a black video box.
I had this problem a long time ago when I first installed this ROM. There was a Flash video fix I had downloaded from this forum that I can no longer find. Anyone know what I am talking about?
I fear I have installed a Flash video update that has broken video on my phone, that is the only theory I have. Please help, I would like to watch video again.

If his fix doesn't work for you then try using mxplayer and the codex for arm devices. The flash fix didn't work me.

Yea this version of flash worked for me too when I was running liquid 3.2 gingerbread
Also jesman you should update to liquid 3.2 and imoseyon 6.2.1 kernel if your gonna run liquid
To get Flash 10.3 working on the stock browser you need to do two things:
1) force stop the browser process
2) Remove all permissions for /data/data/com.android.browser/app_plugins/com.adobe.flashplayer/.macromedia/Flash_Player/config.data
*Fix also works for Dolphin. Just change com.android.browser to mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser
Changing the permissions restricts the flash plugin or the stock browser or the webkit or I dunno what from reading config.data. This file is screwing with video playback of anything over 240p.
What's weird is that the config.data generated for 10.2 and 10.3 appears to be identical, except for the ProductVer string. Since the file contains settings for h264 high, baseline and main profiles, there's probably some change in 10.3 to the way it uses this information.
Either way, this is a bandaid for those that don't wish to use Opera until the heart of the issue is found/addressed.
I claimed no credit for this post. Read it in a cyanogenmod forum credit goes to OneLikeSeaBass

Deleting the config.data file also seems to have the same effect. It rebuilds that after you delete so there are no I'll effects.

Ok, wow thanks guys for the feedback. I am going to give these a try later tonight and I will post back the results.
This forum is great!
The solution from heath2805 worked. Deleting the config file only fixed the youtube app. Thanks again!

[Q] video lag after installing cm10 rom

I installed cm10 rom on my tab 10.1 its great and smooth but when I come to playing videos it is very bad, the youtube video lag too much on the app and the browser ... and the downloaded videos from youtube (720p) lag also on the video player ... I did a quaderant benchmark and I noticed somthing, the 2D result is too too low its about 55 and the bar is almost invisible ... so if anyone have the same problem or know the way to fix it please advise me .... THANK YOU
Oh my god !!! .... xda developeers where are you ??? Please help.
that's how the p7500 handles CM10 ICS or JB.
I'd advise to stick to stock ICS for smooth video, that's the only solution I found

I was on CM10, it crashed and died, had to flash Stock 4.0.4 and, as far as I remember, I could watch YT HD videos quite comfortably, with minor hiccups when some intensive scenes like water ripples, sea were rendered. I then flashed tryptosylls 4.1.2 AOKP and video lags a hell lot now!
Thanks .. I think I have to flash the stock rom .... i've alrady overclocked but the same problem stills.
Can someone link me to a good rom for the galaxy tab 10.1 ??
Look in the development section. You can do it!
I'm asking cause i need rom without this problem ..... I won't try every rom in the section !!!
I see the same issue in my phone as well. But this happens because of poor hardware acceleration support. U can fix this by adding a line to build.prop file. What u need to do is change or add video.acceleration.hw = 0. 0 means disable and 1 means enable. After changing this, I did not face issues while palying videos on youtube.
Anyway, very hq videos plays good with hw accelation. But still u can try ur luck.
Hit thanks if I help u.
