Who else is picking one up on the 14th? - HTC Rezound

I'm here from the inc forums. Semi-beginning developer. My inc died about a month ago, and I'm dying for this badboy. Can't wait to see how everything goes with this thing.

Will pick it up the first day available.

right here! although my store might get it the 15th so i may have to wait a day.

I absolutely cannot wait. I am finally switching to Verizon from us cellular. I bought a desire on us cellular thinking it would get development like the Inc or the GSM desire and it has pretty much received no attention from devs and still hasn't had kernel source for froyo released by htc. I am excited to get a phone that will be supported with updates from both devs here and htc that will keep this phone fun for more than 5 months.

Ill be there at 9am, morning of the 14th!

Ditching this bionic as soon as I get my hands on the Rezound.

I love this awesome array of people and developers coming here. Plus it feels a lot like home with the amount of Incredible users coming here. This is awesome I have to wait a month to actually get it though

My upgrade isn't until January so I'll have to wait... hopefully its fully rooted by then! Get to work devs!

Been waiting to upgrade since February 28th...I'm picking up this beast on the day of.

Can't wait to go get it!!!

I am getting it Monday! As much as it pains me to go into that side of town during Holiday shopping madness. This is such a better deal than the Razr and the Nexus being that is comes with the headphones and such a badass screen! I wish it had HDMI though.

I'll be getting it at the end of December, when my upgrade becomes available.

It does have HDMI. You have to buy an adapter to fit the micro usb port, but it has HDMI capability.

I'll be there at 9am on the 14th too. I can't wait to ditch AT&T for good.

I'll be getting mine in the afternoon. Hope they still have one in stock by then...

Heh me too, just returned my skyrocket tonight. Not a bad phone but the screen res at 4.5" wasn't that good and it just feel cheap and plasticy. The new Vivid is nice but the specs on the rezound are awesome, I won't have to miss my iphone retina display.

I will be! Was wondering, can we pre-order it online and get that "online only" discount

Nope, I called yesterday for some account/bill questions they said it will be released Monday and then you can order it online or over the phone, but "free" shipping is 2 days, and overnight is $13. In other words, go to the store get it day 1, and save the $$. Unless you live 100 miles from a store and/or drive a gas guzzler like me.

Does anyone know if there is any way possible to beg them for an early upgrade? I'm due in January but I'm having a hard time waiting.

Just call and ask, all they can do is say no. Tell them you would hate to leave vzw, etc, etc.

I'll be up bright and early on Sunday if Best Buy does decide to take pre-orders.
Not that this is confirmation but I just got off the phone with a Verizon rep. She couldn't find anything to verify the 14th as the release date but said she "believes" that will be the date. Take it for what it's worth.

While I was at best buy earlier the Rep said Valentine's day is still the date they're set on. Also said as far as they know 4g wont cost more for now. All things we know but reassuring to hear it again.

I'm totally with you on this. At the time I made this post I swear I was at the point where I thought this date was at least 90% accurate. Now Best Buy IS taking pre-orders as of this morning but won't give me a date or a price? I dunno, sketchy and I don't just hand out money and not know anything about what I get in return, lots of other dates flying around too. I think there will be a Super Bowl commercial I certainly hope so, if not Verizon is shooting itself in the foot here.

All you are doing is holding a place in line. They give you a $50 gift card for you deposit. You can blow them off if need be and you'll have $50 at BB. What's the problem?

Problem is they don't do 1yr contracts which is a HUGE deal for me at least, big difference between geeting an upgrade in 10 months vs 20.

They are offering their buyback program on this phone for free (everything is for the first week). The basis for the price of the phone is RETAIL. This phone minimum will be $599. At the 10 month mark they will buy back your phone for $240. I think that will compare with a one year plan rather well.

That's not as good as it sounds, I can sell a 1 year old TBolt for 300 on craigslist. Let's do the math a 599.99 phone (regularly priced at 199.99 on contract) will get you a buy back of 240. The retail price of most phones is 599.99 thats 600-240=360. I'd be paying 360 for my next phone!
My next upgrade would cost me almost 1 and a half times more than if I just signed a 1yr contract and paid 70 extra dollars up front. Not to mention Verizon bends backwards when you approach your out of date contract. They've called me a few times about certain "offers" since I'm almost out of contract to get me to renew. On top of all this after I get the upgrade I can still get the 300 extra dollars by selling the phone on craigslist myself making my next upgrade 100% free + profit. I don't sign 2yr contracts it's not worth it in this industry.
This was just tweeted by @Verizonwireless (the official VZW Twitter): "HTC Thunderbolt: no updates to report. We'll share what's real, when it's real, directly. Here."
Looks like we're left in the dark a while longer. Sounds like it's not decided yet, or the release date is too far off for them to announce. Looks like... we should probably be thinking later rather than sooner. Bummer.

Its got to be the 14th. Verizon wouldn't let the biggest electronics retailer in the U.S. to be telling thousands of people a false release date. As someone said earlier, the only reason best buy is saying the 14th is because Verizon told them!

Flyer $299 October 1st

http://www.androidcentral.com/best-...99-starting-oct-1-things-just-got-interesting
Already reserve one for tomorrow. What a kickass price. If this is released at $299, HTC Flyer may cause a firestorm.
This is the price it should have been when released.
I snagged one today and sold my ****ty viewsonic g. I am going to go to best buy tomorrow and get my $200 back with price match.
I am putting honeycomb on it right now. Kinda tricky but you basically have to flash all the stock honeycomb and then you can put that cool custom honeycomb rom on the dev forum.
Does this come with the stylus? I know in July best buy startedd including it, but I'm not sure if that was just for a limited time.

Exchange or return your item anytime from the original purchase date within the timeframe below:
* 14 days for computers, monitors, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, iPads, tablets and radar detectors
* 30 days for all other products

*If you are returning a mobile phone or device with a plan, Best Buy is not responsible for carrier charges incurred after the carrier's cancellation period. Please refer to the terms and conditions of your plan to verify the carrier conditions
Same here, snagged one tonight @ 499 because I don't wanna deal with the hassle of hunting one down all weekend. BB Playbook was sold out everywhere in my area after just 1 day @ 299, I'm assuming Flyer will be the same. I tried to get Best Buy to give me the sale price, but they're making me come back on Saturday to do the adjustment. Total bargain at 299!
Just put in my order for 1 @299. Picking up in store tomorrow. So excited to play around with this for the 2 weeks before I give it away for my fathers birthday present lol. At this price it just cant be beat, although my mom is going to be jealous when my dad gets this and she just has a CM7 nook lol. Anyways looking forward to "my" new flyer and the awesome devs here

No, BB is not including the Pen. (not yesterday anyway)
Yes, BB Price match policy includes BB & BB.com prices. (it should not be a hassle becaue they are matching their own price, it may need a mgr approval but for $200 it's worth it)
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Help-To...ee/pcmcat204400050011.c?id=pcmcat204400050011
(post edit, only specific items are good for 60 days on the price match, normal return times apply here afaik)
I picked up a flyer yesterday before reading this post, I will be re-visiting my local BB today to recover some $$
Cheers

(on a side note I also go the rocketfish hardshell case and like it because it adds very little bulk) now if they would only let me wear cargo pants at work...

Good price point, but this is what HTC/Best Buy should have marked the Flyer at since day one. Considering we're still waiting on Honeycomb over four months after launch....

Photon for $0.01

Great, here goes the resale of my Photon after I paid $630.00!
http://wireless.amazon.com/f/springsprint?tag=phandroid-20
I feel for you. When I bought my Photon, it was off CL and there was a zillion of them for sale. I seriously doubt the Photon has much resell value which sucks but at least its a solid phone.
I was chatting with another member who has Photon, cardock, HD Dock, smart controller, bluetooth keyboard for $650.00. I dont see this happening!
With the LTE announcement, honestly, I was just going to give my Photon away when the SG Note hits Sprint!
Hello,
At least on my local Craigslist, the Photons still fetch a decent amount. In addition, on Ebay, the prices are not in the gutter.
When it comes to upgrade, I am hoping the fact I also have the HD Dock, Motorola Bluetooth Keyboard, and Mouse, will bring a high enough amount to offset the next phone I get as I am eligible for an Upgrade after May 18th.
As a former Premier Gold Member, I have until December to take advantage of my last Annual Upgrade from what I have been told. I am really hoping Sprint comes out with another Motorola Flagship Handset before December. All I know is that whatever one I get must be LTE. I really hope it does not end up being a Crapple iPhone 5. From what I have read, the 5 will offer LTE and after my EVO3D experience, I am pretty soured from getting another HTC. Thus, the choices by December might be pretty slim.
J
@Jungle Jack, after I read your post I thought of something, my Photon cost $630.00 no contract, you can get Photon for $0.01, but your married to Sprint for 2 years and if you want divorce, it will cost you $300.00 or so anyway. Therefore, you could get a decent price from CL or FleeBay!
With that said, I have been playing with phones since early 2000 (BB!), this is by far one of the best phones currently on the market. We have a ton of Photon users that jump ship for SGII, then a month later come back.
The only thing I'm waiting on is Samsung Galaxy Note! Which when I played with it, is light years ahead of Photon! WAY faster (1.4Gzh Processor), Cool UI that you can draw and cut-&-paste with pen, true 1080P HD, and a beautiful TV for a screen!! (5.4")
I am amazed at the prices people are paying!
They are available on Craigslist in the cities I frequent (LA and NYC) for $200-$250 in NEW condition all the time.
And I agree, it is a GREAT phone. It just works the way it should 100% of the time. And battery life is way better than any other Android phone I have had.
Hello,
This is by far my favorite phone by leaps and bounds. Funnily enough, my second favorite was a Motorola StarTac that Sprint offered for a very limited time it seems.
Granted, being with Sprint since the late 90's, we did not always have access to be latest and greatest handsets.
It has gotten a great deal better starting with the HTC EVO 4G. I just wish Sprint and Motorola had a better relationship as I am quite fond of the Droid RAZR, but do not think we will be getting a Sprint version. I am simply hoping for simply a freshening up of the Photon before my Upgrade is void. With there reported to be a multitude of LTE Devices on their way before the end of the year, perhaps there will be a Motorola Android LTE Device...
Cheers,
J
and another thing, we have dual bands (CDMA and GSM) witch is another selling point driving the price!

but it IS a phone! (Its really not as big as you might think, I played with one at AT&T last Saturday) Yes bigger than a phone, smaller than a tablet. 99.9% of the time, Photon is in my pocket and the note fit into my pocket.
Not to mention, the Note has so many atvantages over Photon (and I mean noticable!) that, given one had the money or upgrade available, we be stupid not to IMO.
Except the Note is still a Samsung, so will gps/data/actually acting as a phone still suck?

I have seen a few on FleeBay but nothing really flips my wig? To be honest, I rarely use clip on Defender (Likely because it winter and I have a coat and need quick access?)
I'm really digging the Galaxy Note Presige Vintage G-Note Diary Series. Room for money and Credit Cards. And if it does not add too much bulk and still fits in pockets.................otherwise, I will continue to look at holsters also.
EDIT: BTW, Photon is not only phone for $0.01, they have a 4G yard sale! With the announcement of LTE, and the 2015 death date, they need to do 2 things. 1. Get you into a 2 year marriage you can jusitify. 2. Dump the inventory of WiMax Phones. I don't have WiMax where I live and will never get it, so a 4G phone means nothing to me over a phone that is solely 3G!

[Q] Are you going to cancel your preorder?

So with the LTEVO pretty much delayed indefinitely, are you going to cancel your preorder or just wait it out?
im still deciding
gonna give it until friday to decide
Idk why anyone would cancel. Stuff happens.
No point in cancelling for me. There is no better phone on the horizon. Oh well, waiting I will be then.
Nope.
This is still the best bang for your buck phone right now. Underwhelmed by the SGIII. We didn't even think this phone would be out until June. I see no reason.
If you preordered from a reseller that gave you a discount for preordering, there's probably no reason to cancel unless you are changing your mind on the device altogether and getting something else right now.
If you are still sticking to the HTC ONE X or EVO LTE then you might risk losing the $$$ discount from the reseller preorders. No guarantee that the resellers will still offer below sprint's $199 after release. If you're ordering from amazon, you're still getting some freebies, and Best Buy has those tradein deals going on.
I finally was able to pinpoint that feeling I have right now. I knew it felt familiar.
This is like when you are at an amusement park and you get on that long ass line to ride the mega-coaster, you are only a few cars away from getting on the ride, when the operator tells you that the coaster is being closed for an indefinite amount of time.
"What do I do, do I wait? Get off the line?" You know the minute you get off the line, the ride will start up again and frustration will set in. But I really want to ride this ride and have a great spot.
I still want this phone, and since I've already been billed won't have to worry about coming up with the cash when an ever better one becomes available. While the delay is annoying, it will be a nice surprise when it finally makes it here.
Yeah I really want this phone I am waiting it out

I have the phone on reserve at my local Sprint store as a favor from the employee who works there. I also did an "official" pre-order at Best Buy Mobile. While Best Buy would be cheaper for me, at this stage in the game, I would probably take it from where I could get it.
Due to the fact I haven't had to put any money down at either location, there's no reason for me to cancel. It's just a test of patience for me at this point, since the T-Mobile contract I've been bound to expired last week, and I would have loved to have new service and a new phone sooner rather than later.

Then it becomes an issue as my OG EVO is doa. I am in need of a phone and the timing for this one was perfect. If and when we learn of the new date I will make a decision, hell I don't want to mess with a 'fixed' on either, just want a new freaking phone.
If this delay drags on for weeks, it might be Nexus time for me. I am without right now!

HTC EVO 4G LTE - DELAY
HTC shared this statement regarding the HTC EVO 4G LTE: “The US availability of HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE has been delayed due to a standard U.S. Customs review of shipments that is required after an ITC exclusion order. We believe we are in compliance with the ruling and HTC is working closely with Customs to secure approval. HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE have both received enthusiastic support and we appreciate customers patience as we work to get these products into their hands as soon as possible.”
Here's Information from Sprint: HTC EVO 4G LTE availability The U.S. availability of the HTC EVO 4G LTE has been delayed. HTC is working to resolve this issue and appreciates your patience as they work to get products into Sprint channels. We can’t provide specific timing for product availability at this time and we appreciate your patience as HTC works to get products on store shelves as soon as possible.
Pre-order status/availability Delivery of products for pre-order are on hold and Sprint will provide a ship date as soon as possible. Sprint will maintain the promise for the preorder customers that they will be among the first to receive their HTC EVO 4G LTE units.

I hope we get definitive news by the latest Monday, as in a definitive launch date. If we don't get one by then, I don't know how long I'll be able to wait.
Nope although it sucks not getting it soon like we thought but I can live without for how ever long it takes and besides that its one of the best phones out there imho...Still rocking the EVO 4g with all the awesome development.

What exactly is the utility in cancelling your preorder?

Right time to buy? Still expensive...

Hey guys,
I've never bought the bigger phablet phones... so i'm not sure what to expect in regards to price drops.
I always buy from wirefly because of no tax. Right now, it's still 150$.
Should i be waiting for Note 3 announcement? What price do you think is the right price to "strike"? For instance, the SGS3 is 30$ now in wirefly (has been a while) and i think that is a good time to buy it..
I would get the note 2 now its only 150 it was 300 new you wont be disappointed

They keep saying Sept. 9 is the release day for the note3. I would wait until then. You will get a better deal if you can wait.

Kind of hard to believe the release date is that of the same thing they reveal it.. I know with the note 2 came about they revealed it and gave it atleast a month or 2 before the date for release became available... For us USA users anyway

Not release. Only announcement. Release will likely be October/November like last year.
price will still probably go down after announcement

The first thing you should do is go to a store that has the note 2 on display and play with it and don't forget to compare it it to the galaxy phones. Now if to have chosen the note as your phone you can keep reading
Here's some perspective on price I paid $600 for the phone to keep my plan. $150 is a very good price for the note 2. Yes it's a big phone, but I've used this phone more than any smartphone before it. Being able to read the screen with ease makes browsing the web, games, books, and emails (work) enjoyable. I've used extended batteries in all my phones and with the one I got on my note it's about as thick as a deck of cards and with my heavy screen use lasts about 3 days. Since the note 3 is going to be even larger in size I'm probably going to stick with my note 2.

amazon wireless
Keep an eye on Amazon wireless. I grabbed my N2 last week as an upgrade for $100. It's back up to $180 upgrade price now, but new lines of service are still $100. Love this phone so far!
