Hi I too have Motorola Atrix from At&t network unlocked currently using in o2-de. I have full 3g and 2g connectivity in Germany. And also I remember while travelling through Italy this summer had full 2g support there. So if the 3g services in Italy use the frequency band as in Germany u should be fine. But my guess is they are same and hence there should not be any problem.

thanks!

I have att version in Sweden and broke screen. Found out that no euro companies will fix us version. Had to send back to us to get fixed. This can take well over a month. Just beware!

Running an att atrix 4g in Slovenia, as of the 2.3.4 update all works fine (on 2.2.2 wifi stopped working in conjunction with mobile signal - long story, but Slovenia specific), so ye you shouldnt have any issues. Regarding fixing the phone, apparently Motorola UK does it for att atrixes aswell.

Another one running fine in Spain and UK.
Regarding roms, you must keep in mind that your phone is still the ATT model, so whenever you must apply device-specific patches (radios, etc), choose the ATT one.

I got this phone in September, and since then I've been in 6 different European countries. Worked perfectly everywhere In Italy I got a TIM sim card, had hdspa on all the time. You'll be fine, it's an excellent phone, the best purchase you can make

Have you already considered the European Atrix sold on Expansys? I bought it there and am very happy with it. You get a phone that is (hopefully) designed for Europe and coming with a "Retail" System and radio. Works very well in Italy.

Atrix works in Europe (roaming)?

Has anybody used the Atrix in Europe? I am really interested if the Atrix works in Europe either with a AT&T sim and roaming or unlocked and with a European sim. There is a thread at the Motorola forum that says that there are problems with the Atrix in Europe.

it works, just ask at&t for what providers they have contracts with in each country. You can also check the bands. Most if not all of europe is GSM.
I am currently in europe now (UK), it definetly does not work. Although they claim it does.

I'm based in the UK and my Atrix 4G is working perfectly on Tesco Mobile. I had to unlock it and change the APN settings but that is relatively painless
Atrix in UK (NI)
Hi Folks, I have an Atrix bought from HongKong (origionally AT&T) and it works very well on the Orange network. I get the odd glitch, occasionally, when for no apparent reason the phone restarts, but that aside its one of the best smartphones I have ever had.(and i,ve had a few)
In France, works perfectly on Orange Network and Bouygues Telecom network too

Check this link.

It tells you all about Frequencies world wide.
Atrix has quadband radio which has all those 3G frequencies required in Europe. It should definitely work, check your apn settings.

Buying SGSII in US, using in europe?

Hi everyone,
i have one short question.
I'm currently living in the US for the next few months and my HTC Desire keeps on rebooting and HTC won't repair it in the US, because it's an german vodafone branded version.
Anyways, i need a new phone.
If I buy the SGSII here in the US, will I be able to use it in Germany aswell?
Because currently I cannot use 3G with my Desire (carrier is t-mobile), only EDGE. It would be a real bummer if I couldn't use the SGSII to it's full extend (meaning 3G etc.) in Germany.
Thanks for your answers!
Th unlocked Europe version is compatible with both Europe and US 3g radios.
ya well, but i want to buy it in the US and use it in europe. Not the other way round.
I think that's what he meant.
Never live in the past but always learn from it.
Could just buy Europe version online.

That's what I meant... Plus there are a stores in the US that will sell it.
gs2 unlocked version is quadband 3g 850, 900, 1900, 2100mhz. i'm assuming german is 900mhz. so you can use 3g in anywhere except tmobile usa (1700mhz).

UK & French Atrix users, question...

I just got an assignment for the UK, France, and Monaco for 2 months (London, Manchester, Paris, Lyon, Nice, Marseilles, Monaco), normally i work in Greece and use an unlocked HTC Kaiser/AT&T Tilt on Wave as the carrier, but now i have the Atrix which i would rather use there, so i gave my Tilt/Kaiser to my sister to use while she is in Greece this year.
I have unlocked my Atrix but dont want to walk into the wifi problems, can anyone confirm a hassle free GSM carrier for an unlocked AT&T Atrix 4G? I will be traveling all over the UK and France and hope to use it for email and map/route purposes.
If not i will just sell the Atrix and buy a phone there and wing it. im actually pretty disappointed in the whole unlocked/wifi thing.
thanks!
Hello,
i have test the atrix with orange and now with bouygues telecom, no problem.
You will not be affected by wifi bugs in those countries. The issues we have on unlocked atrixes arent in fact a byproduct of unlocking but rather of some countries being poorly supported in the driver, that said you should be fine with any carrier in those countries.

[Q] Will the US Atrix work on UK 3G?

I'll be relocating to the UK in a few months and have been trying to dig up some information on whether or not I can use my ATT Atrix in the UK for data (I know the voice should work just fine). My phone is SIM unlocked.
I've been hearing about how the Atrix allows you to switch bands using some key combinations etc. Not sure what all that's about.
Anyone tried to use a US Atrix in the UK and get 3G data speeds without any issues?
i have att atrix and i live in italy, it work for me. I was on holiday in London, and the phone worked fine

Before the last OTA update on my ATT Atrix, I visited Amsterdam and the UK and was unable to get signal with my AT&T SIM. Since the OTA update I have noticed I can no longer enter the "Select network" or "Operator Selection" menu options. I have not visited the UK since and of course hope that I will be able to get service next time.
i'm stay in italy, with vodafone italy and correct apn it work fine, in uk I had to activate the roaming because my carrier there isn't in uk, this is normal.

Can you use the i9300 internationally?

I don't really understand how cell phone providers work, but my friend is in Germany for another year before he comes back to the US.
Would Samsung Galaxy SIII Smartphone (16GB, UK Sim Free Unlocked) work from the amazon.co.uk site for him to use on T-Mobile in Germany, then return to the US and use it on a new contract at Verizon/T-Mobile/Sprint?
It will certainly work in the UK and Germany, with the same modem. The phone will operate on the right frequencies for the USA but I'm not sure you'll get the best out of it, as there will be no specific modem for the i9300 in the USA. Calls & texts will certainly work but data could be slow or none at all.
