[Q] HELP!!! Crackin.bat doesn't work - Legend Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I was wanting to root my legend 2.2 froyo. I came across a simple guide:
[Guide] Hboot 1.0.1 root, made easy
The guide was easy to understand but on one of the steps, it stated
open crackin.bat (your phone will reboot 5 times)
Click to collapse
I opened it but it doesn't work! My phone doesn't reboot 5 times like what it was supposed to. Am I doing something wrong? Any helps appreciated. Tks!

EDIT: Ok I got it to work but the problem is it gives me an error code!
Code
error: more than one device and emulator
Click to collapse
and the phone only reboots twice.
After that, temproot the device, typed
adb shell
error: more than one device and emulator
Click to collapse
May I know what's the issue here? Sry new to this. Really appreciate any helps.

Maybe try unplugging all other usb-related stuff, mouse keyboard, etc.. so it can't confuse them as other devices?

ahhh, I had this issue when rooting, if you do a "adb devices" you might find you have 2 devices listed, in my case i had 1 "(my device serial) offline" and 2 "(my device serial) recovery"
you have to issue an adb command to kill the server, but I can't remember the command,
oh guess what the command is "adb kill-server" i think thats all you need?
Then it should work.
If not, then you might have to do a search for the exact problem your having, 100's if not 1000's have had simular problems one way or another, so your not alone and the solution should be out there, key word "search"

Ah! Tks for ur generous replies. I actually restarted my pc and then when I typed adb shell, it automaticallies kills the server by itself tks for ur help! Another thing is that when I make my goldcard using goldcard tool 0.07, everything was fine but when I checked my removable disk drive, it doesn't show anything except 3 folders (Android.secure, LOST.DIR and whatsapp) is it supposed to be like that?

[Q] How to root my tablet without computer? Not a noob Q..

Mine is a froyo 2.2.1 device (ViewSonice VB730), I tried z4root, instant root, DPRoot, and many many many rooting apk but it is not working, some of them are FC or some of them are stucking in "attempting to apply root"
I tried to use SuperOneClick but since I can't find a suitable driver for it, so when I use "adb devices", the list is empty.
I also checked out about some article about how to manually root a devices with PC, seems I have to copy the necessary file first to /data then run the exploit. Since I dont have the driver, I tried to do it with Terminal Emulator and tried to grand access right of /data but failed.
cd /data/
$ ls
ls: can't open '.' : Permission denied
$ chmod 777/data
chmod: /data. Operation not permitted
What should I do
Still no one answer this..
Sorry, I cant help you. Just interested in the right answers.
Not sure but if you can find a copy of Z4Root it might work on Froyo

Nooope, maybe just the ones who can answer it are happened to be falling in love with their ladies and cant spare time here. Why don't you try some ways of rooting the similar phones. There are so many people out there talking about rooting their devices everywhere, maybe you can try some. Next time I will copy for you.

I wonder ViewSonic vb730 is same as Creative ZiiO 7" tablet in view of their features and CPU. The guide at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010402 may also apply for ViewSonic vb730

I heard about this method before, but the main problem is I can't find the suitable driver for the device so I am not able to perform any action related to the adb.. can you tell me which one you have choosen which one for your Creative ZiiO 7"? Thanks a lot!
few days a pump
I'm going to say I have the same problem with the VB730. I wish to root this thing but can't seem to make it work (in spite of hours and hours of work). Programs I've tried:
Z4 Root
Universal Androot
Instant Root
SuperOneClick
I've also attempted to do it by hand. No dice. I have installed File Expert which allows me to see all the files including the system files, however, I cannot write to these files nor change them without at least temporary root access.
After looking around though, I think the problem seems to be the same as the Creative ZiiO tablet in that there is no driver available for the USB debugging and even once you get those files, the Android system files aren't in normal places so you'd have to figure out a workaround for it.
I tried following the guide here and I believe this would work but for the problem of the USB driver. I wrote to ViewSonic asking for a solution to get my USB Debugging to work but they have no idea what to do it seems. Or they just don't care enough to figure it out.
I tried using the PID, VID and MI for the ZiiO as per the guide (despite it being for a different vendor and product) which got the driver to install and recognize the VB730 as an Android device (when first installed, it came up with a bad parameter but I restarted the device, reinstalled the driver and the problem disappeared) but I am unsure where to make and put the adb_usb.ini file as there isn't a ".android" file located on the VB730 (there IS a ".android_secure" folder on the write-able portion though). So, when checking for devices through ADB I get a readout that says no devices are connected.
Anyone have any ideas on what else I (we) could try? Thanks both for the help already given and any still to come!

unlocking is easy now with the new method, as long as htc's website is working.
then just install a recovery via fastboot and flash a rom. Id recommend viperdna

Are you using a windows vista comp or apple? Originally I just installed the apk, ran it, rebooted my phone (manually, ive seen a video where the phone rebooted itself and he manually booted it into bootloader), ran cmd "fastboot oem readcid" and nothing... it almost makes me want to return the phone.

Yes I did.
Installed apk through my phone
Ran the apk
Manuel reboot into bootloader (should I have fastboot check on in app>settings>battery?)
Hit the power button on fastbook
Open up CMD script and type "fastboot oem readcid"
and....
nothing... =[
Should my usb settings be set to anything in particular?

That's because you're doing it out of a regular ol' command prompt.
There's two things you an do to alleviate that problem.
1) Follow this:
Right click on the My Computer icon and select the properties tab.
Select Advanced and click the Environment Variables button.
In the new dialog box double-click on Path (located under System Variables) and type in the full path location to the tools directory.
So essentially if your directory for ADB and fastboot are under C:\<SDK FOLDER NAME>\tools or C:\<SDK FOLDER NAME>\platform-tools, add those to the Path.
2) Go to the directory where ADB/Fastboot, hold SHIFT and then right click. It'll give you the option to open up a command prompt from that directory with should allow you to run those specific commands.
Also, getting back to the Paths. Make sure when you go to add a new path that you put a ; IMMEDIATELY after the very last one. Then absolutely no spaces right after that ;. So.... example coming up..
Let's say a path was C:\banana\peel, and you want to add your ADB folder. So it'll be typed like so, C:\banana\peel;C:\<SDK FOLDER>\tools and then you repeat the same exact thing for the next folder.
I really hope this helps!

Following the first method (thanks alot for the help too man, I appreciate it).
Ive found the PATH section you told me about, but I dont understand what you mean by "the full path location to the tools directory".
2) Where is the ADB/Fastboot directory?

Its okay. I was confused on this too because i ran the fastboot and it said it didn't recognize it. So i realized that fastbook has to be a program that i have to install. Eventually i figured out it was from the android sdk, but all the guides assume you have android sdk installed. They might want to consider adding something like "make sure you have android sdk installed and your Path set" in their guides. I know that would have saved me some trouble haha. ^_^
Yea that would have saved me some sleep haha I still can't get it to work though when I do CID exploit command prompt says no recognized ADB devices I think it might be cause I can't install HTC drivers (I hope cause I'm getting frustrated) haha will try again in next couple days

Broken screen, help me grab my files?

Long story short... I have a non-rooted SGH-M919 (Samsung Galaxy S4) with a completely broken screen. USB to PC transfer doesn't work, it's set to charge only, Kies doesn't see it...etc.
I have found that it's still on my wifi and on my google play account so I can install apps from the website. Does anybody know any apps I can install that will instantly let me access my files (and transfer them) without needing to do anything on the phone's side? Remote access would be great but I'd settle for file sharing even if only on the local network.
Any other ideas would be great! I need to recover pictures and contacts that aren't on google, or the SD card. New phone doesn't take the SIM.
You're probably not going to like this answer, but I recommend you simply have the screen fixed. If MTP isn't enabled and you can't enable it, and it's not rooted... There's just not much you can do.

That's not too helpful... I found a (paid) app that attempts to recover files from the phone's download mode, which I think I could get to. There's gotta be other (free) options out there if download mode has access to files. Also as I said, I'm sure there's some app out there that shares files on the local network. I just need a name if anybody has one.
Thanks for answering still... but I know there's options.

Oh! Well if you can get to recovery, you may be able to pull the files off the device or back it up entirely.
Search "adb from recovery" and see if that gets you anywhere. If you *can* use adb, you might be able use adb's "backup" command to back up whatever you have on there.

Well, I've never used adb from recovery before, but a quick search makes me think it could be possible. If you're desperate to recover the data, I' m assuming anything is worth a try.
Now most of the time, stock recovery doesn't have adb access, but if you can manage to unlock your phone, you would be able to install CWM recovery and boot to it.
However, this is unlikely, as IMO, the SGS4 is one of the most painful phones to try to unlock, especially when you don't have access to the screen.
soo.. I am trying adb right now. I did...
adb shell
cd /sdcard/DCIM/Camera
ls
and all my pictures are listed! I tried doing a pull at that point and it says device not found... which it clearly is since it's reading the info. Any idea what my next step is? mounting or something? I feel like I'm so close!
EDIT:
BOOM! got it! I read one post online that said "stay out of shell for pull" I reopened my adb window and just did "adb pull /sdcard/DCIM/Camera" and all is recovered now. Thanks and I hope this post helps somebody in the future!

Nothing special at all. It only required:
> Phone in download mode, wired to PC with USB cable
> ADB installed on PC
> Samsung USB Drivers
> Open adb command prompt, and run the pull command (after finding the exact directory using adb shell)

LG G8X Thinq(Sprint) adb shell

So i got the new G8X and have been trying desperatey to just access the system files to remove some bloatware.
Problem is it only gives me access from \User\0 and on. I tried to delete them through adb on windows but everytime i try and run adb shell the phone automatically disconnects.
I know i have all the updated drivers cause it recognizes the phone through windows and adb when i type adb devices
but as soon as i execute adb shell it disconnects. Does anyone have a solution for this?
Any sort of feedback would be greatly appreciated. i Have a 30 day return policy in effect if i cant gain access to any of that i plan on returning the phone.
Thanks for reading
Edit: Im dumb switching ports and usb cable resolved issue.
If anyone hears anything about root access please advise. Thanks all

As simple as your suggestion was it lets me command it through cmd now., switching the cable worked.
Still through the phone itself i cant access system directories. and its not like i cant change things it just flat out wont let me view them at all.
The end goal is to get root/custom recoveries so i can install magisk and xposed, if you hear anything let me know. And thanks again!

I use Solid Explorer. So, some of the files you can physically see in the explorer, but if you try to open it, the text is garbled. It was only after I started doing adb pull that I could actually see/read the files themselves.
