Do we have unlockable bootloader?? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Motorola have been quoted saying that this device will have unlockable bootloader dependent on carrier agreement. I've read that this has been denied for the verizon version in the states, but in other parts of the world - the international version is currently on-sale (Australia - I'm looking at you!!)
So do we have it or not?? I asked the question in development thread, but there's not much traffic there and I didn't get a confirmation.
I can't believe no one has tried it yet. If it is actually possible - the instructions on this site should work:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...a-xoom-bootloader-for-flashing-recovery-roms/
Even if you don't want to unlock the bootloader - if someone could try it. If it works it will give you warnings and the option to opt out before going all the way, if it doesn't work - you won't even get that far.

Argh! I can't post the link here because I don't have enough posts but it was confirmed by Motorola Australia that the RAZR will have an unlocked bootloader.
This was confirmed on their Facebook page (Motorola Australia)

if u cant post links..., add space, remove www or http etc.. use brain

That's the correct way to unlock it, so give it a try and please report back with country/provider, System version and Build number.
Thanks.

I still have hope, let's wait a few day, maybe they will communicate. You may ask on Motorola's Facebook or Twitter what they plan.
Edit: I could too, but I didn't understand exactly how you tried to unlock it, so I won't be able to explain clearly the problem.

Newest firmware update this year for Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S830 hits over Orange Spain packed in Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread. The latest firmware build number is S5830BVKT3 with a build date of 2012, February 09. This is an upgrade from previous version S5830BVKQ9 2.3.4 which was lastly released in 2011 October.
I installed this just for fun (i'm no Orange user) and it's a good firmware. Also sports the Orange Launcher. Biggest issue, can't seem to be able to root. upd_1.zip file fails to flash, log says my phone doesn't go under any of the product names known. Also OneClick failed to root with every method known. this makes kernel installation a pain in the .
will try

[Q] Ace 5830L - not receiving making calls -no network

Hi, Until 4 days ago everythink was fine.
I did NOT do any changes to the phone.
Recently, I was calling with difficulty and receiving sometimes (call and txt.msg.)
Today I just does not get the network.
I talked to my provider and check the line - it is fine.
I asked for problems on the network - it is fine
I asked if the phone is in negative (blocked by the provider - stolen or found phones) - it is not (sometimes it happens in Argentina for many reasons)
My chip is working in a different phone
A different chip (line) that works fine is not working on the Ace.
Internet is working fine
Last thing to check is if the antenna has a problem.
Before taking the phone to a service provider, that is a pain in the ... , since it takes time.....
Do you know how can I test it?
Thank you.
Maybe this is being caused by the baseband. If your phone is S5830L it is the Latin America version so I am guessing that for your region you need the Latin America Baseband.

Ok so you need help geting into download mode?
But the clip you linked shows exactly how to get into download mode.
Hold vol down and home while phone is off and then turn the phone on.
Also you need to keep trying out different basebands to see which one works well with your region/country
You could also visit sammobile.com to find some stock firmwares to odin them to your phone and try to check if the baseband you had before is available.

What happened on my post was that first I did not know how to boot in download, but after I posted I googled the solution and I wrote it down.
IN terms of the phone: after the change you suggested (and that I did) the phone worked for the first minutes and after that it was dead.
Finally, today as a miracle it is working fine. Just like that.!!!
It seems that People from Personal Telecom are getting afraid when their system is not working and in particular with the latest event on Movistar and Claro.
Thanks for you help.

I think that you are mistaken.
The application is in fact free of charge to install through Google Pkay, but you must indeed pay 2,50€ (or so) if you want to unlock your phone.

Sim Network Unlock Pin - Official jellybean 4.1.2 Spain
Hi all!
Installed the official jellybean 4.1.2 that was released yesterday for Spain.
The firmware works as good as it's supposed to, but I'm asked for a "Sim Network Unlock Pin". I use a factory unlocked I9100 Galaxy S2.
I've read several forums which suggest apps that provide the unlock pin for rooted phones. I don't want to root my phone, seeing as i installed an official rom on a phone that wasn't locked when i bough it. I never had this problem when i previously upgraded my phone.
I even tried a factory reset coz i'm an idiot and it did not solve this either.
I'm not sure if downgrading would help. Why am I being asked for a pin i have no idea about?? Will installing jellybean firmware released for UK solve this problem??
Working

Thanks for replying doomlord. Can I root it easily? would I need to upgrade it to 4.4.2 stock oem rom first?
OTA update doesn't show any firmware updates available (which I know is common for prototype phones)
No, just keep yourself on the current firmware and:
- Root using Bin4ry's root tool
- Backup the TA partition
- Update to the latest firmware (.757) using Flashtool
- Unlock the bootloader using Flashtool
- Root by flashing Jackie's kernel
All the steps are here.

Thanks Lord Manhattan. None of the root solutions worked (bin4ry's root tool, kingoroot, 1 click root, and vroot.

That's what I thought too. I have had quite a few prototype / engineering sample phones and most of them are locked down pretty hard.
When they boot up they say "this device is a prototype. Accordingly it collects and sends usage information to Sony Mobile in order for us to improve the device."
On the back of the devices they had the sony name and the xperia logo covered with black tape. On the front they had a silver tape 5 digit number covering the sony name. They were represented to me to be prototypes. Maybe they were internal close to final prototypes.
Also Antutu installs and runs which other Z Ultra prototypes would not install or run. It would pop up and warn you (as Sony didn't want the specs leaked) I can screen cap or post any of the info from 1 of the non-upgraded units.

Local freight auction. I have gotten a lot of odd, obscure, and interesting phones, etc. from them.

I think I am going to keep 1 to goof around with(til I get bored and move on to the next play phone) A friend already bought 1 and another friend wants 1 too. So the 2 that are left I will probably sell locally or on that one online auction site.

If you are certain that their bootloader can be unlocked then why don't you sell it off/send one to a developer?

This shows up on the first bootup after factory resetting the phone.

I think the bootloader is unlocked as I flashed the jackie kernel to 3 of them and in the "about info" it shows jackies kernel. The service menu shows "bootloader unlocked"
I sent the IMEI's to the Sony Dev site and they sent back the bootloader unlock codes (which I unlocked using the flashtool)
I didn't know if I would be violating forum rules by even mentioning selling one.
Also, so far none of them have shown any weird prototype behavior.

Nah, I don't think you're breaking any rules. You didn't steal them, so you're on dry ground (I think). The bootloader is indeed unlocked, but I would've flashed a generic and official firmware to get rid of the prototype status. Who knows what tracking services and stuff like that is running on those things.
@DooMLoRD is probably interested in some files or something before you flash anything?

Okay. I have 2 that are untouched.
I thought I did flash the stock .757 (C6806_14.3.A.0.757_1276-1569_R3C.ftf is the name of the file I flashed)

Okay, but does it still say prototype even after you've flashed 757?

Yes it does. That same popup shows up on the first boot. I factory reset, clear the cache, and clear the davlik cache before & after flashing.

No unfortunately theres not and the dev who was working on a patch for U4,5... root has moved on. Only way is to buy a exynos model or ask a retailer to look at bootloader versions before buying to ensure U1,2,3

Forgive my stupidity. I can see how to get the info, but exactly which one is the boot loader version? Seeing as there as nothing that specifically says bootloader, I’m confused. The only “U” I see is in multiple reference to the N950U1. Is that the BL version? As in I have version 1? Thanks in advance.

Nope, not a peep. Must be some sort of National secret.
Look at baseband version in software information under phone info in settings.
Bootloader (BL) version is 5th digit from right:
In my case baseband is N950U1UES5CRG9, so my BL version is 5.
N950USQS5CRK1 is bootloader version 5, right?
Yes

There was an update July 1st or so. But yea..........I accidentally updated not paying attention. Still haven't been able to determine if the new safestrap method of rooting will work with bootloader V8 on the N950U variant. Certainly hope so!!!!
There's more than 5. I'm on 7 now: N950USQS7DTE5
