[Q] Kidding? XT912 IS NOT A GLOBAL PHONE????? - Motorola Droid RAZR

RAZR have 2 types: XT910&XT912
Isn`t XT912 a global phone ?
what the fxxx.
developer.motorola.com/products/droid-razr-xt912
then what`s this there?
Just have a look at the Connectivity of the URL.

xt912 - for verizon
xt910 - for world

The hardware is there but I think the radios have been disabled.
The XT910 only has GSM and WCDMA bands while the XT912 have LTE, CDMA, GSM, and WCDMA bands...

the US version is CDMA I believe and outside it is GSM minus the 4G LTE radios..

It was stated from the start/announcement of the phone that theres going to be 2 variations from the get go. 1 CDMA/LTE fro the US (VZA) and 1 GSM/HSPA+ for global.

[Q] Droid Razr will work in India?

HI,
My Cousin is going to buy a droid Razr from Craigslist and send it to me here in india
I wanted to Know
1. He is going to buy a Droid Razr Verizon Lte phone will it work in india on GSM.
2. If not then any other Version that i should buy?
3. If yes then would i have to root it and then it would work.
I would really Appreciate if you could help me out.
Check out the frequency bands the Droid RAZR supports. Theoretically, it should work on CDMA networks in India. The LTE bands won't work (obviously) due to the lack of 4G LTE support in India. But Reliance and Tata Indicom CDMA networks should support the phone just fine.
Take Razr XT910 cuz it will support GSM as Droid by verizon is exclusive product for verizon network if u have to take their product then u need to break contract with them so to avoid complecations take XT910

Well, LTE is GSM-based. SO you should be able to. But yeah, the complications are a lot. Just get the XT910 then. Otherwise get it for CDMA, no issues with that. And don't worry about it being exclusive to Verizon, it can be unlocked locally.

Well That is basically what i want to know. If i go for LTE verizon can i use it in India.Anybody who is using it.
The Reason for me stressing on LTE verizon is Because My Cousin has got it for me.
So If there is nothing i cant do it then ill ask him to sell it again.
- Anyone who is using LTE VErizon in India?
Sell it. XT912 does not work on GSM full stop.

If you absolutely must have a RAZR, yes, you'll need to do just that.
I'd recommend buying a less awful phone full stop, though.

GSM support Verizone Droid Razr?
GSM capability of droid razr??
as per below link Razr support GSM networks.
droidmatters.com/news/verizon-confirms-global-gsm-roaming-coming-to-the-droid-razr-razr-maxx-htc-rezound-and-lg-spectrum/
does this conclude we can use it on GSM network like ATT or in India?

Installing a GSM radio on a CDMA razr

Just wondering but can it be done? afaik the two are identically hardware wise right? I got my mitts on a CDMA razr but gsm signal on it sucks big time and i've been trying to find ways of improving it.
would the bypassed bootloader be able to stop me from doing so? Would I get a hard brick?
The ICS release will make the Razr "global" (GSM+CDMA+LTE).
I'm on the .79 leak, with AOKP and mine is a global phone.
June 12th, last rumor I heard...
So you're telling me that my gsm Motorola RAZR XT910 will get lte possibility? What bands will this lte be running?
Motorola RAZR with Tapatalk
So does this mean that once ICS drops, I can get my razr on a sim only plan with another carrier? I was looking for a way to unlock it for that purpose... I'm done with Verizon's fees and taxes, but don't wanna pay retail for a new phone...

I believe he is referring to the xt912. Though I'm not sure if the 910 just has Ltd disabled or just doesn't have it.

I'm pretty sure the GSM razr doesn't have lte. If it did, it would only work for Verizon (my reasoning being that if the DROID RAZR has GSM, and the normal RAZR has lte, chances are they are built the same way with software tweaks) Of course.), none of this matters if the GSM RAZR doesn't have lte, which of probably doesn't.

yeah I mean the XT912 or the Verizon edition razr.
I am running a ICS leak but the signal is really bad and on top of that I cannot add a vodafone APN, as such I do not get any roaming internet aside from Wifi I can find. I would try flashing the modem on my own phone but I have heard of stories of CDMA phones bricking when flashed with a GSM rom.
May I know the source that stated both RAZR GSM & RAZR CDMA are identical hardware-wise?
may be it can work.

I never said they are identical. I said that if the global version had lte, chances were that they had the same hardware. However, this is not the case.

were on on a ICS leak or did you install the GSM patch?
The patch. The patch people...get it and get done with it...it CAN happen...I am having one ...Awesome Stock ICS on RaZr...CDMA + patch = AWESOMENESS
AFAIK, there is the Droid Razr, and the Droid Razr Maxx. There is no hardware difference between a GSM or CDMA phone. If you have a Moto schematic diagram showing some other difference, then post it.
The only hardware difference the two devices above, is the Maxx has a bigger battery.
Everything else is software, and that changes with ICS.
Napoleon said 'To find if a thing is possible, try it.'
Wait for the ICS release and see if it works, or install the .79 leak and see if it works.

What does that have to do with this? You are correct, but it doesn't have anything to do with this topic. We were talking about the difference between the CDMA and GSM RAZR.

As per my knowledge XT912 is mostly the CDMA version from Verizon. It should work with GSM carriers outside US and Data should be available on supported Freq. in GSM mode. However, this data will not work in CDMA mode.
If you wish to flash it to some CDMA carrier in your country, it is possible. However, I do not have the details for that.
Yes the xt912 is cdma and it is a gsm phone also but has to be out of the USA to work with gym.

For 1, just insert the SIM and the phone should work on GSM network. (Please check the 3G frequencies on which that carrier operates and whether they are supported by XT912 or not).
Data will not work in CDMA mode, only GSM.
For 2, I dont clearly understand the question but like I said, CDMA data will not work with any other carrier except Verizon (If it is a verizon phone)

oke so need to do is to configure the mobile network ( data and mms), haha sorry in my country both GSM and CDMA used SIM CARD but CDMA still can be used even without SIM CARD on Phone like from verizon, sprint etc.
Yes, you can only use cdma when on a US domestic carrier (specifically, Verizon). GSM is only for international networks. I believe, with the appropriate flash file found here:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_spyder/list.php
you should have no problem, internationally. The phone will not work on other domestic networks, as the carriers here in the US like to secure contracts.

Hi there.
I want to reply your questions one by one instead you must be already clear with the answers you already received:
1. Motorola Droid Razr XT912 is GSM or CDMA ?? or it can use both of them
A./ XT912 is CDMA. But yes, this device is capable to manage both bands depending the ROM you are using on it.
2. I have Nexus S 4G ( CDMA/Sprint) and i just flash it to another CDMA Carrier in my Country. Can i do the same thing with Droid Razr XT912 ?
A./ Sure, you can flash any ROM you want, just be clear that if you mount a xt910 ROM it will work on GSM networks. If you want to use that XT910 ROM on CDMA bands, you will need to change the build props of the ROM.
3. I read in some of thread in XDA after update Razr XT912 to ICS it can be use to another carrier and just insert the sim card without need enter the unlock code. its true ??
A./ As I know, that is not true. But I'm not sure, maybe someone else can tell you something different.
Regards.
