[Q] urukdroid 1.5 archos 101 ad-hoc - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have searched all over the net pulling what hair i have left out...i have rooted my galaxy s and i have rooted my archos 101 with urukdroid 101 all working ok.
after a long time searching i found out how to change the wpa settings in uruk but when i use wifi manager if finds my sgs but when i click it..it just hangs on connecting or getting ip address.
i feel like i almost made it but missing something somewhere.
can anyone help

my archos is now just sitting here collecting dust, until i use it wifi with my phone i am starting wish i had not got it now. as nice as it is, it is useless without the internet outside my house. i do not need it where i live as i have a pc, i have unlimited internet on my phone. i would like to be able to take it too work and use it there but looks like this is not going to happen as i think it is all lies that people say here and other forums that they got it working wifi from an android phone. so i will give it few more weeks then i might sell it at cex before it goes any more down in price. then i will save up for a ipad at least i know i can use this on the net like i do with my ipod touch.

I want to tether Play Station Portable to my Touch Pro

I have searched everywhere I have WMWiFiRouter but it only does Ad Hoc for the Hot Spot. PSP only uses Ad Hoc for Game to Game, I have this posted over at PPCG as well and still no solutions. Playstation forums have come up with nothing as well. Google was a total bust. The only good thing out of all of this is I did find a blue tooth remote for the TP that works on the PS3, nice add on but not what I need. I am looking for a work around guys, I want to link the PSP to my TP's internet so I can link up with the PS3 while I am out and about. PayPal donation is up for grabs for a working solution.
I would explore the different options that allow you to use your touch pro as a wireless router. I am going to assume that there is 100% no way for you to physically connect the PSP to a WM based cellphone to get teh interwebs. And I don't think the PSP has or uses bluetooth. So, as I said, getting the PSP to see an SSID broadcasted by a utility sharing your wifi signal on the TP is your best bet.
** I wish you luck on this as well. If I still had my PSP, I would be sitting here probably doing the same thing as you are....
** you got me thinking, and afte ra little googling I found this about the next PSP, the GO: http://reviews.cnet.com/consoles/sony-psp-go/4505-10109_7-33667281.html
Specifically read the part that says: "Sony rep John Koller also specifies the ability to tether the PSP Go to a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone. The advantage of that isn't highlighted, but that would potentially allow Web browsing and online gaming via a tethered phone with a 3G data connection (when Wi-Fi access wasn't available)."
So, all in all, unless someone does some serious hacking, hardmodding or some crazy wizardy and magick specifically for this problem, I'm betting there is no direct way to do this atm..... sorry.

[Q] Use Storm2 as a modem

Ok I know that if anyone knows how to do this it is yous guys.
I cant always find a signal or i refuse to pay (spend alot of times in airports) I have looked up how to tether or bluetooth my phone to laptops and all say the same thing. I have to have blackberry manager running on my LAPTOP well I have never seen a driod ver.
Some info
Storm 2
Business phone on enterprise (yes if I could I would just be on a driod so please dont just say get a new phone)
9550
Gtab
Vegan Ginger 7.0.0
It took me like 100 trys and alot of screeming just to get ginger on it I dont know terms or abbreiviations so please be gentle.
I am rather low on the company totem pole and I am trying to stop using the company laptop that weighs 8.2 pounds thats to heavy to drag with me everywhere. I have logmein to access it from afar and not use it but if I am caught in a spot where I cant use my tab to get what I need i will be forced to carry the brick around because they pay for a usb at&t wifi thing. (can that be used?)
Thanks in advance
I can answer about the USB modem - generally the answer is no (unfortunately). I had a Verizon USB modem that I tried for months to get working, but the problem is that these devices needed both kernel and OS support. Some of the more popular ones overseas were supported on devices like the ZT-180, but even those were few and far betweeen.
I had the same issue with my company but I managed to get a Mifi device to replace the USB modem I had previously. The con is the battery life (just a few hours), but the pro is that it works like any other Wifi router and you can connect up to 5 devices to it.

Controlling my Thunderbolt wirelessly while tethering...possible?

Pretty much what the title says....details:
I ditched my horrible AT&Trash dsl to tether via my TB (faster speeds and saving $20/mo). Problem is, I recently moved and I have to have my phone right next to the window to get solid and consistent LTE signal, so every time I get a text or something I have to get up to go look at it, cause if I move my phone it'll drop to 3G (that's another issue....whenever it hands off from 4G to 3G I almost ALWAYS have to go into Airplane mode then back out or reboot for my TB to acquire 4G signal again...anyone know a quicker way? I have latest radios....) then my tethering all my but dies and I have to start the whole process over.
I am wondering if there is a way or maybe an app I can get where I can control my phone via my PC wirelessly while tethering.......from what I've read you either have to be connected via usb (window is too far away for that) and/or your pc and phone have to be connected to the same wifi network (which, if I'm tethering and my pc is connected to the internet via tethering to my phone, that isn't really true...is it?)
So.....any ideas?
Thanks much!
This may be of some help for texting. I use bluetooth for calls. I almost have the same situation.
Check out this Android Application I'm using "DesktopSMS" on my Thunderbolt. Check it out here: http://bit.ly/qApcgj
I had the same issue, my solution was rather eloquent I bought a tablet so that, while my phone is in my window, I can get my texts on my new happy Motorola Xoom. Not sure if its possible for ya BUT it is well worth the investment. Also, are you PAYING for your tethering?
Cmon lol, no random quips? I actually DO have a solution but SOMEONE has to say SOMETHING lol!

[Q] Wifi hack at work

Hi, they have addded another wlreless connction at work. They have now heavily restricted what we can acesss.
I have been searching all over and not really getting anywhere. Is there a WEP android hack thingy for our phones. I can acess XDA at work if I can get in on the second connection (managers wifi and of course I work for a living not like them so we get screwed LOL). I can not really run a laptop on the shop floor so that way is out.
Thanks.
Not sure if this violates any TOS cause I never read that but please remove this post if it does.
Rooted GB x10 wolf 6 rom
Router keygen and penetrate, both are paid apps, and wifi kill if you want the wifi only for you. Cant post warez.
Penetrate gives you the wireless keys of Thomson, Discus, Infinitum, BBox, DMax, Orange, SpeedTouch,DLink,Eircom,BigPond,O2Wireless routers. if it is one of theese you can rely on penetrate
Sorry it took so long to get back, thanks anyways but those programs do not seem to work on Canadian routers like dlink and stuff. O well
Thanks

opening WiFi hotspot at a specific time.

I am looking for a way to get my android phone to open its Wi-Fi hotspot daily for 5 min. around midnight.
Has someone got.a clue if that is doable and how it could be done?
thank you very much for your advice.
P.S. if that could only be done on a routed Android phone, could you recommend an old device, that can be bought for cheap and which is absolutely easy to root?
