Its possible in technical terms but will it happen i don't think so it takes a lot of work. They have to make new bootloaders for it , then they have to optimize windows for it, then we need a way to flash the bootloader also. Well atleast im pretty sure thats how it goes.

Agreed.
1) Extremely large and complicated process. In addition to the bootloader, drivers, etc would need to be ported over, especially for the custom closed source 3D features and also depending if you have the 4G WiMAX device, this is closed source as well as the 3D features.
2) Haven't seen any type of community support on any of the forums for undertaking this type of project, i.e. loading Windows onto the EVO 3D.
3) Cell phone life cycles are becoming shorter and shorter. The time developers spend dedicated on specific devices are diminishing.
Sorry to crush your hopes. Unless HTC has released or releases a device hardware wise identical to the EVO 3D which has Windows 7, I'm very confident this will not happen.
Even with the release of a device with similar hardware, I'm say I'm still fairly confident for the above reasons it will not happen.
Hope that helps!

Hi Guys, thanks for reply.
but just curious why I see it working on HD2 as per below link:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/24/htc-hd2-can-now-dual-boot-windows-phone-7-and-android-promises/

If HTC releases a device with the same hardware or fairly close hardware, just different OS, it can be done.

how about just install purely WP6.5 or WP7 only is it possible?
have any one try that? I just want to play around with windows mobile, the touch flow 3D seems much better than HTC sense flow.

No one has attempted to port windows to our phone.

WP7 possible on Android???

Hello,
Okay, so I know that people always ask, "why the h*** would you want windows phone 7 on an android phone?" But, I really like the simple UI, and I like the way the apps look and things like that, so with that said I have 2 questions:
1. Does a "WP7 rom" exist (like in the WP7 forums).
2. If so, is it remotely possible to even attempt to run it on an android phone?
I am just asking because the way I see it if WP7 can run on an HTC device, why could it not run on an ANDROID HTC device, with the rerouting of some software and things like that. I have a MyTouch 3G Slide (I know pretty old school) but I have already gotten it to do things that they said would not even be in the dreams of a MT3GS user! I am a novice software dev, but I am completely down to learn, 100% with no objections!
Thanks you guys,
Ognimnella

As far as i know, the only non-WP7 phone that can run WP7 is the aging HTC HD2. But i really don't know how far the development has come, so we may see some Android devices run WP7 in the future. Who knows! (Not me)
The wp7 rom is not open sourced so no devs try porting

So wait how have people been able to create WP7 like apps (Launcher7, Seven Calc, Photo Safari, WP7Contacts, etc.)
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
They rewrote the programs, these ports don't share source with the original wp7 versions. That's why the Android version of these programs work a bit different.

[Q] WP7 on Amaze?

Hi,
just wondering if there is any plan to port WP7 on to the HTC Amaze. I am currently using a HTC HD2 with WP7 and looking to buy a new phone, but every phone that catches my eye is only for android
Thanks

Like he said, you can download a launcher from the market and make it look like a Windows phone but you cannot actually port it.
This is a wp7ROM coming for android soon, so just hang in there.

I have to second the launcher 7, look and feel of 7, with the backbone and support of android
Something to look forward to I miss metro ui and my hd7... L7 doesn't even come close to looking or feeling like wp7 the app list is the only thing close to it. Theres only 2 apps, seven+ calculator and ubermusic that are very close to feeling like wp.
Thanks for your replies guys, looks like ill give the Amaze a miss then. Im not a fan of Android. I had a sensation for a while and couldnt get on with it or Android. Since putting WP7 on my HD2 with a class 6 32GB SD card, ive fallen in love! I was intersted in the Amaze because it has an accessible SD, where as most phones at the moment seem to have the SD card locked away.
Thanks anyway!
weird, my sensation had an accessible SD card??????????
Can't understand why you would want wp7?!

I want it because its great. As i said in an earlier post i dont like android and cant get on with it. It was always freezing and crashing. Ive been using WP7 for 6 months on my HD2 and i havent had any problems. Never had a crash or had to restart the phone. It works perfectly with my my zune and win 7 computers and sync with my hotmail accounts. I understand many people are android fanboys, but im just not one of them. Thanks for the advice!

Why would you bother asking about it being moved to an android phone then, wp7s hardware sucks because that's how windows phone is designed as an OS they have requirements and what it does and doesn't function with yet. It will be a while before it gets on great hardware and even with mango it still feels incomplete, there are a few good things about it though.

Windows Phone 7 currently has a strict hardware compatibility list. For now best to stick with phones that are built for WP7 otherwise there are likely to be issues. I'd be very careful buying a new Android phone and thinking you can get WP7 on it.

4.0.3 AOSP release

So the source code has been pushed to AOSP. How much of a help to our devs is that? BTW to me this is one of the greatest pieces of news ever!

Read the OPs post. He asks how much help this is to our dev's meaning he has no clue what it means as far as getting ICS on the 3D and apparently you don't either.
NO its not.. yes. it is. No its not.. yes it is.
Stop fussing with your brothers or I'll turn this thread right around!
No need to bite his head off, he ASKED how much help it would be.
Unfortunately it means nothing for the speed to which ICS will get to the evo 3D or any other for that matter. The thing that is holding back its use and development isn't the availability of the source code of the OS or kernel. Each device needs drivers. In case anyone doesn't know exactly what that means; in the most basic and layman's terms drivers are the [low level] software for a device that "tells/instructs" the OS and other software how to interact with the hardware specific to that device. Each device needs its own drivers developed by the designer/manufacturer of the device. The drivers for the evo 3D needed to run ICS have either not been completed or have not been released. So this is the reason we are seeing alpha builds with non functioning hardware. Without the drivers it would be analogous to the evo 3D hardware speaking German, while ICS only speaks and understands English.
So unfortunately until we see drivers built and released, ICS won't fully function. Sorry! Good question though.
just wait
I know why this is such a big deal . I know it new but it will have sense skin on it . so only thing i want is the face unlock .lol

Desire HD User want your advise

hello everybody i'am from Desire HD Forum and i want your advise...
i'am thinking to change my DHD with EVO 3D ... but i didn't use it before so i haven't any experience about it only his Specifications, photos and videos.
just want to know is there is a big different between them in performance?
and what about the 3D tech in videos, photos and games is it really interesting ?
Hiya m8,
Having a Desire HD, i know what you mean, and i always wanted an EVO 3D from the off, but since having it i'm finding the development a little lacking, there's some great dev's here don't get me wrong, but opposed to the DHD, it's just not a comparison, the DHD got a lot of attention, something which you'll miss if you make the switch to EVO3D, sorry to put it to you like that, but it's true.
It's up to you at the end of the day and i wouldn't swap my EVO i just thought i'd tell you what i think of it.
Personally given the choice i would go for the XE Sensation. Or wait for the ville, which i believe is going to be heavily developed for.

Now I wouldn't say development is lacking here in anyway and honestly don't get how anyone says that ever. What is there not offered here?...
Now besides the point if it were me this time of yr would be the worst time to get a phone. New stuff will be out within a few months that's even better. Also I wouldn't buy a non LTE device right now either less you were okay being on short stick in future...

The problem is the 3d camera! plain and simple, it's going to cause developing problems, problems which don't seem to be troubling the sensation thread, nor the DHD thread. That's what i mean, plus developers like Coredroid and RCMIX, and P3D are not present on the EVO3D, plus most of the threads are still on release one.
The one's which aren't haven't moved much, they're trying, they really are, but there's usually a lot more dev's on the phone's that i've had that's all, not having a go, it's just a fact.

Umm take those 3 devs and ill give you many more here that do magical things!!! Only thing sensation has over the 3D is the build leaks it gets and all...
Most threads on release one? Now I know your not looking. What do you mean by not moving much? Makes no sense at all. Again I'm not seeing anything that isn't offered here that you could want besides fully working ICS/CM9 but that will come with source as always anyways...4G doubtfull but everything else will come along.
I might have to retract that all if ur talking about gsm version only as I don't follow that side as much and know there are not as many threads there, so if that's the case then so be it...

i myself was a dhd owner ..now using 3d. and must say i like it alot. plus 3d pics+dual core+better resolution+1gb ram. for day to day use this is the best. but if you are interested in roms then its still a good choice but not better than sensation as the guys covered it had more ruu leaks and doesnt suffer from developing the 3d function. but i love the 3d
thnx very much guys for your advises...,
i think Sensation XE will be better choice,
in my country both of them at the same price.
i wan thinking about the sensation too, but i'm afraid because i read in some reviews it gets hot and here in summer i guess it would be a real problem
as for the performance i guess both the sensation (xe or not) and the evo 3d are almost identical

Well what are you looking for? We do have a huge selection of Roms to choose from. But most of our users here want full functionality with 3D and wimax which are proprietary to HTC and not open sourced so it hinders Rom development such as Sense 4 ports and others. Correct me if Im wrong but the HD2 stock comes as winmo right? The fact to get Android on it and full functionality is a accomplishment hard to beat.
Myself I plan on installing Debian or Ubuntu 12 on here just for the fact that you can.

Oh it already can run them. Just need linux installer from play store and get myself set up and launch. Dont really need it but its something new to do and could possibly find good uses for it in doing so. I wouldnt count on endless development here but its still an active device with plenty of devs behind it. Know ill be around for awhile also and I just build my own roms to use.
I think it boils down to whether or not we will still have as many active devs as we do in the future. We have wimax, and I'm sure 3d is soon to follow. That being said, if the framework keeps changing in-between aosp versions(gb>ics) then these will have to be rewritten all over again. And I think that will push people to other phones. I plan on having my 3D for some time, and I'm learning to build my own roms and make modifications that I like, so you never know what will happen. I don't see why this phone can't continue for some time, and I for one would love to see it happen. Who knows...
