Don't think you can bypass 4G phones activation unless you have 4GSim/MicoSim card in them. It can be an active or inactive card.
Definetly possible.
If I remember right I just did the backward C without a sim card inserted.

Have you tried putting it into flight mode before switching off. Had to do that when I had the Photon as im in the UK.

Bypass Activation
Yes, I just did it.
Touch the 4 corners of the black screen that the Android is in going clockwise. I'm not sure where you need to start/stop just make the circle a couple of times and you should be in to the rest of the set-up steps.
Reboot confirms it's OK.

Have to turn the phone sideways for the 4-corner trick to work. I tried to post the youtube video, but I don't haven't posted 10 times yet to remove that limitation. If you search for "Resetpedia" on Youtube, you will probably find it.

I'm confused on what you are asking as well, but I'll answer what I Think you are asking. go to www.junefabrics.com go to the android part of the site. It's PDAnet. Works like a charm. I have used it to run my main machine at home and I use it daily to run my laptop at work. You have to download software for your computer as well as the app for your DX2.
This also works for wireless without being charged. Wifi Tether App I use this if I am watching a movie via HDMI and cant connect with PDAnet.

Ah, free. That explains it, because the X2 from Verizon should have come with Mobile Hotspot, which would do what you want but is definitely not free. Careful with easytether, though. You might find an additional $20 charge on your next bill if Verizon notices (charge for tethering). Mobile Hotspot costs $20/mo., but you can the feature on and off depending on your needs (i.e., if there are months when you don't need it, turn it off in your account and save yourself some money).
Just saw online that people are able to use their ATRIX with straight talk sim card installed. Is this really possible. Id be very interested.

Yes. You can use a straight talk sim with any android phone. I used to. I don't recall settings offhand. Go to my profile and search threads started by me. I posted a guide somewhere with all the settings.

Thanks! What if someone bought an e71 smartphone activated it and just returned the phone. Would they even know that you didn't bring the sim back? Most of the people working at wal mart don't have a clue. Dishonest :yes but would be cheap. Wouldn't they just send the phone back .

Sucks but the phone is tied to the sim. If you did that it would deactivate your sim. Find one cheap on ebay (make sure it's a ST). Call em up to activate, they'll send you a new SIM, throw phone in drawer put in whatever phone you want. I previously had mine trimmed and used in an iPhone 4 before switching to the Atrix.

I am using the Atrix with a nokia e71 sim. From everything I read (I did quite a bit of web-research) the e71 is the only GSM phone anyone has had any success with.
Att SIM card works on Verizon RAZR! Just needs little modification. Does not even require root! Thanks to the bionic forum

The procedure...
Data does work because I get an "H". But i choose to turn off data because i do not want to be billed.
I am on ics.
This is what I did (modified from the bionic forum)
- got an att sim card activated with a basic gsm phone
- turned off razr
- replaced the Verizon sim card with att Sim card
- turned on phone. You will get an "unknown sim card" error. Press ok
- go to system setting>more> mobile networks> select GSM/UMTS
- click back button, select access point names, select AT&T US (wap.cingular)
- press *#*#4636#*#*
- go to phone information, select WCDMA preferred, below it, turn off radio then turn it back on, exit by pressing home
- turn off data sync in the mobile data networks. Also turn off wifi.
- wait up to 30 minutes or more to let the phone connect to the network

I've heard of people getting AT&T text and calls to work on a XT912 but to date, I've not read of anyone getting data to work. Can you confirm that you have working data (without wifi obviously lol)?

I turned on data then I lost the signal. It would not come back even though the phone reads the access point name. I think either AT&T or Verizon saw that I'm using an unauthorized sim card and disabled the signal.

That's what I figured. Cellzealot is working on a hack but it doesn't look very promising - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619563. They do have a hack for the Bionic to use 3G on AT&T. I set my little bros phone up a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the hack seems to only work on GB and not ICS. Most Moto global phones can be unlocked for AT&T but since the Razr wasn't officially released as a global phone and they basically only announced global support because they couldn't patch it on ICS (my opinion, not confirmed), the Razr is different.

From the bionic forum is where I saw that moto phones will work if the GSM radio is installed and enabled. Being updated to ics, Verizon enabled Gsm radio to have used as a global phone.

I haven't followed it as closely as I once did, but the Droid 3 is completely hackable because AT&T has a similar device. So I purchased the unlock code, flashed the GSM radio and it was done. TBH created a hack for the Droid Pro that would unlock it (old file, not recently updated) similar to the unlock file that works for the Bionic. They also have a Razr unlock file that I believe changes some settings to GSM (I don't believe it's a true hack just setting changes) but it doesn't unlock data in the US. It only allows data overseas. One user in the thread I linked to reported picking up data in the US but only because he's close to Canada and AT&T was roaming to Canadian towers. That's further proof that Verizon and US GSM networks have enabled some sort of block that is yet to be cracked. Cellzealot is a pretty smart guy. If I had to guess (that is IF it can be hacked), he'll be the guy to do it.
A general consensus across the board is that ICS has changed the radio handling which has made sim unlocking much more difficult and patched previous hacks. Again, I'm just paraphrasing what I've read from Cellzealot. He's your guy for more information.

Are you on ICS? Wont work on GB. Some users report that it shows no service but they can still make calls and texts.

On ICS now but I've tried it on GB too. Never have gotten anything to work. Have done the NV edit and various patches, roms, settings.
I hope cellzealot has an epiphany.

Last Friday I bought and activated a simple mobile sim card for my razr which is the Verizon XT912 model. I did so because I was told it work and also saw it working on my phone before I purchased it. After updating OTA to stock JB it doesn't recognize sim anymore, I get a message saying "This SIM is from an unknown source." and the signal bars display no service. I've tried the radiocomm method, I've flashed the GSM patch and added the APN settings, so far I've had no luck. If any one can help I'm in desperate need of help since I already paid for the service. I don't know if it helps but I'm currently in the US and i think simple mobile runs of the T-mobile towards, also I added a screenshot of my device info.

Im going to explain this problem in a depth as i can.
I am s-off'd via jtagged, rooted and have twp recovery. I am on newest radio running NOS M7 v2.0.3
I can only connect to 3G for some reason with it reading eHRPD.
i do not know if it was reading this before i started the process of rooting since i never turn the phone completely on once i got it back.
So after some reading and advice i downloaded LTE on off to force 4G
It worked but at the cost of losing my mobile network causing me to not be able to make calls or send out text but i have 4G i can get on the internet.
Atm i am plagued with having 3G and service or using 4G w/o service... and this is a problem.
Also while on 4G it reads RSRP if that helps.
Idk if this is a hardware problem from me getting my device jtagged (which would suck since that means im stuck with it) or if it can be fixed.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated since im getting annoyed

What carrier are you on?
In any case, I would RUU back to stock, including kernel, and see if I get 4G. Make sure 4G is available in your area....?
Look in mobile connection make sure you have 4g enabled...

I had the same problem when I got my phone back. Took it back to Verizon and got a new phone. I tried everything and nothing worked. It is like something happened to the radio. Tried to flash a new one nothing. Still haven't heard back from mtv on trying to get a refund.

Sigh thats something i wanna avoid so Ill just have to stay stuck until moonshine comes out. I really like sense 5 and I don't wanna go back to 4+... Then I'll get a replacement I guess.
As far as RUU to stock and seeing if I was on LTE I already did all that. I was almost looking into build.props but I assumed that wouldnt work either. So guess I'm just stuck on 3G unless it randomly wanna come back which I doubt unless somebody comes up with a solution besides just getting a replacement.

I had this happen after using my nexus. Somehow my SIM got corrupted. 4g worked on the galaxynexus but not my DNA. New SIM card fixed it. Try going to Verizon and asking for a new SIM card.

I have the same issue that you are having. I am glad I was not the only person to have this happen I am going to put my phone back to being S-On and locked with the factory ROM and then head to Verizon to get a new SIM card.

That's more than likely not necessary if ur just getting a new SIM card. U shouldn't have an issue even if ur s off and unlocked. SIM cards r free.

Correct they are free, but the guy I tend to see at the Verizon store always seems to launch that hboot screen everytime I go in there. He did when I had the SIM card swapped earlier in the year as it would disconnect from my network several times a day. So I just want to be on the safe side.
I had my SIM card replaced twice on my resound and both times went to the store without relocking the bootloader or anything. Didn't have any issues. They programmed the new card and I was on my merry way. Maybe call em first and without giving any of ur account information ask if u can get a new SIM card if uv rooted ur phone. It would suck to go thru that process if it's not necessary but I can certainly understand the better safe than sorry approach. The phone call would definitely be worth the time though imo.

Just go in and ask for a new sim card. No need to waste your time relocking and s-on'ing your phone.

So I got the issue resolved without a new SIM card. So here is a combo of things I did to resolved the issue. I have everything in the link below.

I think it was resolved after I flashed my radio and then I went back to stock just in case I have any more issues in the next week. As if I do I will go back to the Verizon store and swap out my phone. But I'd rather be S-ON in case that happens and be that way for a bit. Plus I wanted to test the S-ON for future purposes of in case I needed to get back there I knew how to.
