Problems with flashing rom - HTC EVO 3D

I'm having an issue when flashing new roms. I broke my original 3d and when I got my new one I rooted it the same way (hboot 1.3) as my original one that I got when the phone first came out. Flashing the rom goes fine but the first time I reboot my phone after it boots the rom all of the android apps on my home screen disappear (gmail, market, weather and clock widget) but my installed apps remain. Also, my lockscreen goes black except for the ring and the time. Weather and the shortcuts disappear. Only way I have found to fix it is wipe data, cache, and delvik cache and reflash, but again once I reboot it does the same thing. I can get some pictures of both later if necessary.

Try Flashing a Different ROM... See if that Helps? That's Weird man...

Yea tried that. Think I figured it out though. I was using the backup using TBU from my old phone. I flashed a new rom without restoring stuff and about to check it now.
Edit: That was it. Strange though, never had something like that happen, or any problem with TBU before.

I have activation of death on gingeritis. Please help

I flash chingys latest version of gingeritis which is VIII .. I had flash the gb radio he suggested and did a full wipe... But when the phone starts up I get no service what so ever I can't even turn the radio off or on.. ...help??
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Check the md5 of the radio and redownload if it doesn't match. If it matches reflash both. Wipe everything a few times before flashing the Rom.
I have flashed a couple of the Different releases of Chingy's ROM and had not problems other than the FC on weather on the old ROMs. Now that it has been fixed it is literally flawless and smoother than stock with the goodies of GB.
This is what I did and do everytime I flash a ROM. Overkill yes but I have NEVER had a ROM take badly, or not boot up on the tb or droid like so many stories I keep hearing.
My Method:
1) Backup, Backup Backup. Everything. I use Ti Pro only for the stuff I cannot download anymore: Wifi Teth, Music Search and Download, etc. because Restoring old apps is never as good as downloading from the market. I also backup all my texts to Gmail using SMS backup. And Folder Organizer has a backup, and of course nandroid.
2) Boot to Recovery
3) Wipe like you went #3 I wipe once everything once, then wipe Cache, then Dalvik, then Battery stats, the Wipe again. Only once b/c Chingy's ROMs wipe as well. If it was another ROM I would wipe one more
4) Then Update.zip
5) Then Wipe again.
6) Then Update.zip
7) Then boot. (no service b/c the Radio hasnt been updated yet)
8) Then turn OFF.
9) Turn back on holding down and install Radio.
10) Now I'm running my favorite ROM on the tb to date Gingeritis VIII
I still havent rebooted it since I put it on this morning and I have restored all my Widgets, and 150+ apps and 3000+ txts. I have synced with my accounts mail fb and everything. Im also running Sense live weather Wallpaper and Lockscreen widget.
Flawless.
haha i do the same so i thought i was paranoid, glad to see its just precautionary and others do it too

[Q] Alpha-X ROM ICS --- Keeps rebooting! HELP!

PLEASE HELP!!
I installed the Alpha-X ICS ROM for Evo 3D. The problem that I'm facing is that it keeps re-booting to "No Service" state.
I've already tried toggling the "Airplane" mode method - the moment I turn Airplane mode off, the status bar shows that I'm connected to Sprint but within a second starts rebooting (showing the ICS start up screen animation) and goes in a loop for 5-6 times and then ends up back with "No Service" state.
Please help as I really like this ROM. I am a newbie here, hence XDA doesn't allow me to post directly to the Alpha-X thread.

Hello,
How did you flash this ROM? Are you on HBoot 1.5?
If so, you will need to re-flash this ROM using Fastboot (PM Me if you cant find the instructions)
Yes, I'm on HBoot 1.5 and flashed it using Flash GUI.
I was earlier using ClearROM.
Update: I guess, i realized the problem - during the first time I had flashed this ROM, I had cleared all data & cache 9basically factory reset). It had worked fine.
Once in, I used Titanium backup to restore all my app data (including system data)... I guess that system data is causing this issue. I re-did the entire process (factory reset & flash) and now it's working fine.
I'll go ahead and try restoring only user app this time and update back.
This just proves my "Noob"ness, I guess

I just wrote a post about this lol. Yes, it is only the system spp/data that will cause the issues. You shouldn't have problems restoring all of your user apps and data. I am running ALPHA X with all of my apps and data restored through TB with zero problems.

LOL....restoring system data can cause all sorts of hell for you as Bamba1260's already pointed out and you've already figured out the hard way, and there's nothing wrong with being a "noob" either, but keep in mind if you're looking for a stable and fully functioning phone or prone to freaking out when something goes wrong.....this is after all an ALPHA (experimental / for testing and bug reporting purposes only) rom. Indeed it is a very good alpha state rom, but things are likely to and should be expected to go wrong with it periodically.

Yeah.. that's one more thing I did realize.. but was so enamored by the ICS ROM that I wanted to "taste" it one way or other..
Anyway, since I'm not done with my first 10 posts, I will have to post this bug(?) here for everybody's FYI that the GPS doesn't seem to work with this ROM.
So, know before you jump...
P.S. I still love this ROM - one of the smoothest that I've tried.

[Q] com.android.keyguard problem

After flashing a new version of CM11, i found myself in a loop upon startup where many of the core applications of android stopped working. When i reverted back to the old version that worked(I didn't have a backup saved but rather i flashed the older nightly of the rom again), I noticed that my home button, lock screen, and notification bar/toggle screen wasn't working any more. I looked into it and looked at my apps, and saw an unnamed app with the description "com.android.keyguard". upon looking this process up, i found out that when people disabled this process their home button, lock screen, and notification bar stopped working (coincidental eh?), and decided that this was the source of the problem.
Is there any way to load on a new, fresh version of "com.android.keyguard" or should i just do a factory reset? I would prefer to save my local data, but if i must do it in order to have a phone that does anything useful, i obviously will.
If I need to do a factory reset, what is the cleanest and smartest method of doing so? I know titanium backup can cause a lot of problems (and in this case i'm worried it will duplicate com.android.keyguard), but I assume there is some sort of method that makes a factory reset while retaining the bulk of user data very easy. am i correct?
Do a full wipe and flash again, check the md5 of your download.
Only use titanium for use apps, never system apps or settings. There is no easier way to change rom.
I have the same problem now..I have did the full reset. But the problem is not going at all.
What should I do?

[Q] GPE 4.4.3 Update Issues

So I have Tmobile HTC One, rooted, S-off, converted to GPE.
I got the update today, ran it. I have TWRP. It installed, then the boot animation came up, and my screen stayed on but was blank for over 5 minutes. I rebooted it, same thing. I rebooted and cleared Dalvik Cache & Cache. Same thing.
It now wouldn't stay turned off. So I left it sitting while I started looking for some info, about 15 minutes later I heard noises. Saw that my phone had come all the way up. Joyous & Happy I started looking around. Found that it removed a couple of my apps. No bigger. Then I saw weird graphical glitches at the bottom of the screen.
Got worried, tried to reboot. The screen darkened, but the reboot options never came up. I forced it to reboot, it comes up fast like its supposed too. Same thing though. Weird graphical glitches, and no reboot menu.
I'm afraid I screwed it up when I cleared the cache while it was obviously still initializing the install.
First off, any ideas?
Second, can I just rerun the OTA once its posted online?
My WiFi works better now, I love the new dialer.
Hopefully you did a nandroid backup before you run the update, if so try to restore your backup and wait till someone manage to root 4.4.3.
if you didn't create a backup, I'm afraid you have to flash GPE 4.4.2 RUU pre-rooted.

If you can boot into bootloader/FASTBOOT USB and run fastboot getvar all to see where you are in the install. The OTA will not run properly if you do not have the stock recovery and stock rom in place OTA will have two version numbers in the title, the first is the new version and the second is the old version this one must match for the OTA to run. If your getvar is like it was previously, then try to install a stock recovery then the OTA. If you have a backup as @aaswar states then run it first, then the stock recovery.

[Q] lollipop worked for 10 hours, now its stuck

Hi,
Last night I installed the new stock lollipop. Initially I had a problem with rooting it but eventually everything was working fine. I've used Philz recovery and cf-auto-root. All seemed fine, and I've got all my apps, accounts, etc. back.
This morning I woke up and it looks as if at 6:02am the phone just froze. The strange things are (1) I could turn on and off the display so it was not completely frozen, just the UI (displaying new screens and receiving a response from the keys or the touch screen). (2) I thought to reboot into recovery and when I did - it was the stock recovery! not sure what happened to Philz that was there before?
In any case, I did clear cache and restarted. The logo came up but after 20 sec I've got "unfortunately, media storage has stopped". Of course - it did not receive any response from keys or the touch screen so I could not release this message - only on-off worked. After a minute or so, I saw that other services are crashing...
Of course I can do yet another "wipe to factory" but I was wondering if anyone experience the same. If I will make it work after clear to factory - I'm afraid it will behave the same after a day or so... Any suggestions?
Thanks!

This happened to me. I had to do a factory reset.
I seriously do not recommend cf auto root(because its not designed for this firmware). Use chainfire's update SU zip that you flash through a recovery. That update SU zip will prevent the stock recovery from being re-flashed. In addition, I always do a factory reset (wipe entire internal storage) before updating the ROM since I root. If I didn't root or anything, I wouldn't wipe my data. But when we root and mess with stuff, plus all the tries to prevent root, it conflicts sometimes. So a factory reset is always best. I was able to use Titanium Backup to restore everything. Just forgot to backup my Internal SD card.. xD

Thanks elesbb, I saw your message just now but I have my phone working already since few hours ago after a 2nd stock reflashing. If I have the same issues as before - I will use chainfire's update SU.
What I did find is that once I enable accessibility (to apps like Tasker, and an LG bluetooth headphone I have (so it could announce notifications) the phone becomes unstable; it just went through 2 boot loops but eventually recovered... Hopefully it will stay stable.
Gil.
