Please add this forum as a child of the 'tablets' section - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

When I log into the forums, I usually go to the "Tablet" link in order to get to the B&N NC forums (the search doesn't always work at the kiosks I use).
Can this forum (B&N NT) also be added to the tablets page?

i dont know

I went to search this forum (in the android section), typed in resource (well I cheated kind of since I knew the code word to use ) and this was the third link to show up. First was the kitchen (which most tutorials use), Second was an advice thread that had some links to resources, and this one was one that I also had bookmarked and has good info.
Honestly I'd say take a day to just read through (atleast scan through and just read the titles) of every thread in the Android chef section... Then you'll know which ones to bookmark and save to read for later reference.
(If this comes off as me being an ass, I'm sorry, I'm kind of buzzed and just trying to keep it short and simple lol).

[ app request] powerpoint presenter upnp/dlna

I am in need of a app to help with presentations during youth meetings in my church. I need something along the lines of ipad's keynote + airplay so that powerpoint presentations with notes can be stored and displayed via upnp/dlna from my tablet on our presentation screen- I dont always have time to load the powerpoints to the pc and make the small format changes that always seem to be required when you copy a ppt file to another computer and since the pc has both xbmc and windows media center and the screen has a apple tv something should be doable. If this already exsists please link it 'cuz I have been wearing out search xda and google. In review I need to see thumbnails of my slides and see my notes on the tablet and wirelessly display my slides on the screen.
Not sure what the best option for this is. I will also be looking into this. Right now I just use Evernote on my Android for Wednesday night youth lessons. But I can definitely see the benefit to having something that can give me a presenter view for a slide show... Not sure if there is anything but it would be nice if we could find something or if someone could develop something...

I thank you for enforcing the rules (even hit the thanks buton) but do need to say that you did so in a very rude way.
[begin rant]
I posted in the SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT forum because I was trying to kill two birds with one stone as the saying goes by asking if such software had been developed and if not to maybe give a SOFTWARE DEVELOPER an idea for a SOFTWARE to DEVELOP. Therefore I thought to be encouraging development. I understand that you did not see it this way and respect the rule of the mod - I understand the need for "mod word is law" policy and " iron fist " - I just wish you had done so in a less rude way - maybe explain your reasoning - basicly I'm saying follow the rule that says respect other members- would help keep noobs around so they can learn more and one day contribute back to this community.
[/end rant]
This thread should now go back on topic and stay there please.
Anybody have any solutions?
one final bump before i let this thread die.
Bump!

[Q] Android SDK docs on an Android tablet?

(Can't post to the "development" forums yet, so this is the best I can do....)
I'd like to have the Android SDK docs installed on my Nexus 7 so I can RTFM while away from the office. After downloading them using the SDK Manager within Eclipse I've tried copying the guide, reference, and assets directories onto the tablet and accessing the index.html files with Chrome, but the navigation doesn't work properly and things are incredibly slow. (The links within are relative, so they resolve, but it's still unusable.)
I have also not been able to find a PDF file that contains the SDK docs, though you'd think that would be an obvious resource to have around. Lots of people TALK about PDF versions but I have yet to actually find one.
This seems like a really obvious thing. If you're developing for a tablet, you'll own a tablet, so why not have the docs on it so you can do something useful while away from the office?
Anyone know of anything that accomplishes this? Thanks!

[Q&A] [Q] AndroidMagnet

Q&A for [Q] AndroidMagnet
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [Q] AndroidMagnet. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

Has anyone ever come across this site or used their product?
Looks like a well put together site, but the download forces you to take surveys and other menial tasks to get your information.
My first thought is spam.

Can you post the executable? This way we can all test it!
After JohnnyParker1's response I decided to dig a little deeper. The site has various "certifications" from BBB, Verisign, Truste, and Scan Alert Hacker safe. None of these could be verified by the respective services.
Their "About Us" page shows 3 photos of "employees," with photos. When doing a Google Image search on each photo the Asian woman came up with a LinkedIn profile under a different name.
Also, they are citing various numbers that can't be verified. One statistic is 10,000 users and another states only 9,872. I also could not find their support forum.

That was quite a good research "BKCOKE". But my point is that who cares if they are fake or real, I did a fake survey on their download link, I got the file and I got my Samsung S3 updated
So I don't care if they are fake or real, their software worked for me CHEERS

How to get rid of Playstore requirement for some apps?

Some of us do not install G**gle apps (incl Play). We use instead F-Droid and APKPure.
But some apps insist that they require Play... it's not a technical requirement, just one they throw in there, but it's a real problem as I am not going to install Play just for that.
Does anyone know of a Play 'placeholder' or 'simulator' which will satisfy this specious requirement? Or has anyone decompiled an app to remove this requirement?
Recommendations?

Apparently you haven't actually tried this. There is very little depth of knowledge about things Android, in general. We are fortunate here to have a competent dev and some competent users. This is rare.
It is unusual to not be at all dependent on G**gle, and I am happy to help with what I know about freeing yourself completely. But there are some catches, and the question I'm asking is the last one for me.
I can probably figure it out for myself, but when forced to do that I am not as inclined to share if sharing (or even trying) is not part of the ethos..
So can we can, or can we can't? :cyclops:

Try MicroG. Your purpose will be solved without installing any GAPPS.

Always share helpful info.
I believe the response the person made was a legit argument basically being made to help direct you to find a better place with much higher odds of getting an answer (looks like you got it tho).
But that doesn't mean you can't ask or can't share. It's all up to you. Sharing knowledge is the foundation this forum has thrived in. Personally I hope nothing defers anyone to question that regardless of any responses made or not made.
And yes, this is an excellent dev. But he's here to help primarily with his area of expertise, which according to the thread title is with Havoc issues. He can't be relied upon to answer non ROM questions (yet he probably would if he knew).
@Quantumstate,
I had to move your question and the corresponding answers to a specific thread (your thread now) to "Android Development and Hacking Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting" because the thread where you posted initially was not the best place to ask.
I have named the thread "How to get rid of Playstore requirement for some apps?" because I had to fill a subject (is mandatory) but feel free to edit the title yourself if it's not OK for you.
Also, I suggest you to read THIS THREAD by @Oswald Boelcke, you could eventually find some clues there. If not maybe Oswald Boelcke or any other members (developers or not) here should be able to help you in this new Q&A thread
Thanks for understanding

@Quantumstate I just realised that @Wood Man pinged me and pointed you to my thread. Feel free to ask me in my thread or certainly here whatever you want to know. But I assume you first have a lot of reading ahead.
Additionally to my thread, I'd like to drag your attention to some more XDA threads in this context. In these threads are also links to Github/Gitlab including excellent tutorials. If you want you'll be able to leave Google services or requirements in many although not all cases behind; however, it also depends of the ROM(s) you use. This means if you commence a discussion please also provide insight into details of your device, system and configuration.

Last remark: On none of our devices, any Google service or application is installed. But all of our application run fine without and by the use of µG instead. The very few application, from which I expect push notifications, do receive them on time via GCM/FCM.
The one and only Google application, which I've installed, is the Google Play Store modified by Setalphia, the developer of above linked NanoDroid. It allows me easy access and updates of my applications purchased on Google PS respectively to conduct in-app purchases that I mainly do in order to support a good development and developer unless the developer offers different means of donation.
I knew we could count on you Oswald :highfive:
