Blue Screen - Motorola Droid RAZR

Just got the RAZR today to replace a Droid x.great light phone and all but the screen on mine seems bluish when it is even a little off axis. Anyone else experience this? I expected slightly jagged lines with the pentile but not this bluish hue. Is my phone defective?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium

Mmm explain off axis. Is the screen not centered or? The Bluish screen has to do with preservation of the life of the display. Blue pixels/sub pixels tend to have a shorter life span.

I know they did away with the traditional red/blue/green/white pixel layout that other phones such as the Droid 3, X2, and so on use, the Super AMOLED on the RAZR makes use of just red/blue/green pixels so an increased focus of the blue may be the cause of this blue look when you tilt it or examine the screen closeley

It's like if I tilt it even slightly to the left or right or up or down there is a very blue tint to whites. My bud just suggested maybe its the gorilla glass...

I'm gonna go back to the store tomorrow and see if the demo has the same thing.

Mine gas a similar issue. It is a defect. I was watching g a movie when I noticed all the colors went whack in an instant. My blacks show up as purple. Also it seems way til bright NL matter how you adjust it.
Getting a replacement later today.

The 'off axis' blue or sometimes greenish tint is because it is an AMOLED display. All of them will exhibit this behavior to some extent.

Cool or Warm temp display?

Like most phones there are two types of LCDs used. Some having cool temperature displays with a more blueish tint to the screen (my preference) and some with warm temperature with a more yellow tint to the screen. This is more noticeable when viewing a white screen. Anyways, trying to see which one in more prevelant in the HTC rezound. The phone on the left is the blue tint display and the phone on the right is the yellow tint display.
Mine looks white when on a white screen lol. Maybe once you upload the pics I can tell!!!

Mine is warm for sure, which is good in my opinion. Warm always looks closer to "real life" colors to me.

Also just so you know, it's almost impossible to tell which one you have unless you are comparing it to the opposite one right in front of your face.

I can personally tell as soon as I turn the device on.
question
For the people that are claiming to have a cool display. Are you also having the problem with the bottom four buttons lighting up pinkish instead of red? Kind of curious because I have seen this as a pattern with a couple of different rezounds. On the rezounds that I have seen with the Warm display, they do not have the pink button issue, that I have seen. This could just be a coincidence with all of the rezounds that I have seen. Just wondering.
Nope. I have beautiful red buttons and what I believe to be a cool display.

Same here! I have nice red buttons and a cool display. I have been checking all day and have never seen a hint of yellow!
Interesting. I would definitely say mine is warm. I noticed my old hTC EVO 4G was much bluer/cooler like the phone on the left in the OP picture.

Screen opinion

I know I've seen this topic become but I can't remember where so I'll ask here.
Which do you prefer for your screen (mostly noticeable on the whites) the "cool blue" or the "warm yellows"
I'm seeing this differentiation more and more with these new phone specifically in the past year. Before that I never noticed the difference.
I have two phones and ironically they are one of each. I have to send one back but can't decide =/
Looking for some opinions

Ditto, my white is white... doesn't have blue or yellow tint on it. I hate screens with a color temperature that is way off... if I can notice either yellow or blue tinting to whites, I am annoyed.

Prefer the slightly warmer picture. Looks more natural than a blue tinted picture.

Liquid spillage or image burn in???

So I acquired my s3 this Sunday and today I was watching Netflix and I notice some markings while the screen was black. I hadn't notice it till now and it's bugging the heck out of me. Do any of you have this? Could I take it to Sprint and have them exchange it? It's so noticeable in a black screen

That sounds like my GS2. This has been a major problem with the Galaxy S2, at least on T- Mobile. When the screen is black, you can see little lines. I haven't heard of this on the Galaxy S3 though. They should take it back and give you a new one. I was hoping Samsung had fixed this problem. Good luck...

It's called ink marks, search forums here for multi-dozen page threads on it.
AMOLED sucks. It has "ink marks", it's very dim, bizarre over-saturated colors, and the whites look "dirty" e.g. yellow or pink, and also there are tints from the sides and also a tint gradient sometimes where half the screen is slightly tinted even straight on. And S III is also PenTile (blurry).
Look at the HTC One X screen or EVO, Incredible, even a Droid or another phone with LCD. S III is far inferior to these unfortunately.

Blue GS3 is better than White?!?

I'm using my Blue Galaxy S3,but yesterday I bought a White one.Just for compare..Then I put them side by side and tried youtube video. And what I saw? Blue got better colors than White..I was really confused. Also, I used same wallpaper on both phones and they didnt have same colors. Is it normal? Does anyone got same problem?
No GS3 will be exactly identical due to manufacturing process. Choose the best you found.

All S3 has a slightly different colour actually. Blue or white S3... You can find one Blue/White S3 that look nicer/uglier than yours actually.
Duhhhh....in terms of specs, they are absolutely, 100% identicle! So how the blue can be better than the white is beyond me....unless you've just created this thread to cause arguments....

- Similar , identical phones , just color variation , unless you're likely specific football team
If the color variation is so great that it warrants a discussion, the two phones - most likely - had different "screen modes" selected.
Settings > display > screen mode. The difference between Standard and Natural alone are relatively dramatic.
You're most welcome.

I dont think they have different hardware
Ever single phone has identical parts but the screens can differ. E.g there was big issues with blue/yellow tinted screens with the iPhone 4**** due to the glue etc used in the displays

It can be because of phone's color surrounding the screen i.e. in blue frames the colors looked better than in white frames (because your/my/somebody else's brains work that way - "correcting" the colors so you "can understand those").
Try removing the phone color or changing both to same color from video/image and then compare to see if there are differences.

I think the two S3s that you got just happens to have a different batch of screens.
One screen has a cool tone, one as a warm tone. The cool one, will tend to make whites a little blue, while the warm one will make whites q little yellow.
It's perfectly normal. In fact, both have their pros and cons.
Warm ones tend to display colours in a way pleasing to the eyes. Cold ones are not as pleasing, but are way more accurate.

Hardware built are totally the same. Just based on your preference. White looks clean, but blue looks cool...Match with different colors/types of casings will make your devices look even nicer.

Do you mean across the notification bar? Or throughout the screen? I have seen burn in (in the notification bar) on two of the warranty replacements I received recently. They both had black vertical blotches on the screen visible on gray backgrounds, and one had a triangle of brighter color. There was a huge deal about this, very common issue with the early devices. Under normal circumstances it can't be seen, but I think a vast majority of i777's have the splotches. All 4 of the i777's I have used had at least the splotches when viewed on low brightness and gray images.
