If you have Amon Ra installed, you can backup your current ROM. Then once you flash a new one if you don't like it or make a boo-boo you can restore your backup and it will be like you never left.

[SOLVED] Restoring backup CWM (or xRec) with different kernel ?

Hey people !
I just want to ask a quick question. When you do a backup on xRecovery or CWM, does it backup the kernel too ?
So, if yes, it means that whatever you install after your backup, you won't need to flash the kernel again with flashtool (i mean, using a computer) right ?
And, if no, I suppose it means that if I want to restore a backup, I have to reflash the old kernel (or a compatible one) ?
(I'm asking this because I want to try the CyanogenMod 9 (Android 4.0.3) which seems to be good enough. But I'm currently on MIUI 4.0 (2.3.7), so if it goes wrong with CMod ...)
Thanks !

Not really no while you could use ADB to backup your device the stock recovery image doesn't provide support for backing up your current ROM. Check out this post for more helpful information and may answer your question.
