Looking for an app.... - HTC Rezound

...that can restore another apps data from a nandroid. I play Mousetrap, a lot, and I swear I was about on the 9th chapter sorta thing. And then my titanium backup messed up the backup, and now I'm pissed. Because I have to start over. Lol. But when I try to restore that rom where the data was on, it goes into a bootloop, so I can't even get into it. Anybody know how to retrieve specific data from a nandroid?
Edit: Did not mean to post this in the Rezound general, meant for the Incredible forums. But oh well, still, can anybody help?

App extractor from the market is what u want. U can pull anything from ur backups. U have to pay but it's a useful app

App extractor? I couldn't find it on the market. I'll look on the web for an apk though.

yeah that would be cool. I used to play Plants vs Zombies but upon switching roms and losing the save data I was all "nnnnnnoooooooooooooooo!!!!!"
and never played again.
on a side note, I see R-Type is on the Market... =O

I bought it from the market. Don't know why you can't find it. There is a free version to. I would send you the apk but I have the paid version.

if you send him the apk it should notify him of a licensing issue with his account and bring him to the page on the market to purchase it.
however, I did a search for it also and nothing came up. may have been removed from market for some reason.

Titanium Backup Pro can restore apps from a nandroid now. with CWM 5 on the Dinc

Yeah, I found a copy of an apk with a key for it also. For free. It's not like the developer is making money off it anyways, it's off the market, lol.

Really? I don't have Pro, but I'll try that here soon, because even though app extractor worked for extracting the actual apk, it didn't get the data.

so here's what was wrong...
if you search market for "app extractor", it does not come up.
if you search instead for "appextractor", then it does.
bloody market!...

What's the best way to back up apps?

I've been using titanium backup when I flash a new rom. I usually do a full data wipe then, once the new rom is installed, i restore all of my apps and data.
The problem I'm having with titanium backup is that I have to individually install each app which is extremely time consuming.
Does anyone know of a more efficient method of backing up my apps?
BTW, I know you can make a .zip file using titanium but I wasn't able to flash it.

I just spent a couple bucks for the Pro key, which allows for batch restoring/backups. Completely worth it when you're wiping and flashing on a daily basis.
I agree. I bought the Pro key. I think buying it through the Amazon App store will bypass any currency conversion issues, possibly. (It seems like when I bought Titanium Backup Pro, I got charged an extra dollar because of the currency conversion....I don't think I had that problem with another app in a non-local currency via Amazon.)
I am seconding what he said. The Pro key is well worth the couple of bucks or whatever it costs. You just hit the restore and let it do it's thing. No prompts.
At $5.99, this will be one of the most expensive apps I have purchased but I'll give it a try if you guys say it's worth it.

It was the second app (of two) I ever purchased (the other being The Sims for $1), and it was totally worth it. Titanium Backup is simply a great program. The batch functionality alone is worth the price- Dropbox integration is a very nice perk (along with a few other Pro features).
I astro for back ups
I bought the Pro version of Titanium Backup after my first slow and tedious backup without the batch function. Plus the automatic backups are great.
i use my backup pro
Gonna have to invest in this as well. Thanks.
Alrighty. Just purchased and backing up as I type. I'll let you guys know.
Why doesn't google market keep track of the free apps we download?
That way when we first sync with google again it would at least get all our apps installed again.

That would be cool but it would still give a prompt for every single app which takes forever and is super annoying. I bought the Pro key and installed the new Nameless rom but now I have to reroot. I'll let you guys know how it worked out
Pro key for titanium. Best app purchase ever, hands down
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Pro key was my first purchase from the market. I don't regret it in the slightest. I always do a batch backup before flashing a rom and then batch restore after. I consider it essential if you are rooted.

It does, actually, in stock Froyo and above, but for some reason the ROMs we have on the Fascinate right now don't.
Normally, when you activate your Google account on a newly flashed phone, all your apps, paid and free, will automatically download as part of your first sync. It doesn't prompt you and it's totally automatic.
I do prefer using TB, though, as Google doesn't backup app data and it can take a really long time to download every app if you have a lot of them. Also, Google's sync occasionally misses apps or downloads ones that you had uninstalled.

I wonder if I have always done something wrong then, I may be new to the fascinate rom scene but I flashed multiple roms on my og droid and they never seemed to give me more than the paid apps
in the market.
admittedly these were aosp roms not stock verizon roms maybe that had something to do with it?
I have the paid version off TB as well but when flashing from say a TW rom to an AOSP rom I prefer to download the apps from the market everything seems to run smother when I do it this way.

Agreed...titanium b/u is worth every penny...on a side note, for me going into settings-> applications-> manage applications-> running applications and going to market (or in my case since I'm on ukb...its tsm market) and hitting clear data...then when I go to the market and hit my apps it will show all of my apps both free and purchased, assuming I don't have any of them frozen because frozen apps won't get recognized by the market...it doesn't start downloading on its own but at least I have a list of complete app download history should I need an update.

never bought the key for titanium, use the free version i like it because of the prompts. Sometimes i have apps that i dont use so i dont install.

[Q] Hulu Plus App

I have tried looking around to find out how to get the hulu plus app on the nook color. Is there anyway to do this without adjusting the build.prop of the nook, or is that the only way to make it work? If that is the only way, can someone point me in the right direction to make that work or tell me any bad things that will occur by adjusting this.
Thanks.
Check rootzwiki forum. They have a version of thr hulu plus app that can be downloaded and restored using titanium backup . This version works on my nook color without editing the build.prop I think its in the thunderbolt forum.

I was finally able to get it to work! Thanks for the info on the files in the inc2 area!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182668
If you download the app and zip files from there, place the three individual zip files in titanium backup folder. If you already have hulu installed, clear data for the app first and then uninstall it and may need to reboot, I had to do so with the inc2. Install the apk given but do not open the hulu app yet. Restore titanium backup files and enjoy hulu plus

Thanks for the info guys.
Does this still work?
I have downloaded the files and use titanium to restore...
The app runs but gives me the "device not supported yet" banner.
I can use it to manage my account and all... but no play...
anyone?

[Q]Newest Titanium backup..

Not sure if this belongs in general but figured since it was a question it would be fine here.
Question is,
Newest patchnotes for titanium backup has destroying market links. Just curious as to what situation would I need to do something of the such?
thanks in advance
I've used it a couple times. When I restore my apps after resetting the phone, all the apps link to the market, including the ones I got from the Amazon Appstore. So those apps will show up in the market as having an update, and them the update will fail because I haven't purchased the app from the market. Breaking the market link makes the update option go away.
You could use it for pretty much any app you don't want the market to nag you to update.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
Suppose I can see doing that. I will look into it a little but looks like it destroys all links and not selective links.
Touch and hold an app and you can select "detach from market"

Found Tapatalk and other premium apps for free through GetJar...Legally

I found this app on another forum. It's nice because they post a handful of premium apps you can legally get for free.
GetJar
I came across it in my search to find a way to browse Rootzwiki w/o going through my browser. Rootzwiki now wants you to pay for their app and I don't want to spend even just a few dollars for the one thread I'm temporarily watching. Anyways, someone posted that you can get Tapatalk for free through GetJar. Many of you are already using Tapatalk but for those that don't know it allows you to browse and favorite hundreds of various forums. I never had the need for TappaTalk before and would have gotten it, but it's nice now that I could find it for free.
So through your phone's browser, you need to go to the http://www.getjar.com. Download their .apk and install.
Anyways, Beautiful Widgets is also on there for free and you can browse some of the other premium apps they'll find and post.
Nice find. Will head over there and check it out.

I snagged a few of the Gold apps a week or so back, including Tapatalk, and haven't had any issues with any of them. About once a month, I tend to install their market, check to see if they've added any good ones, then uninstall the market again. Unlike Amazon, you don't have to have it installed to have the apps.
Very nice find I payed for a few of these paid apps lol thanks.

Yes you can but isn't 4 shared cracked apps? I had some at first when I did not know better. Then deleted via root explorer and bought it through the market.
This getjar seems more legit and legal I hope.
Where did you find the apk file? Thanks.

You need to go to the website getjar.com and download the app first. I hope you are not asking about the 4 shared apk files. Warning I believe they are cracked apps on 4 shared unless someone corrects me?

Not if you are downloading free ones. Nothing to crack. You can find old versions of apps if you don't like the update in market. Sometimes updated get rid of exploits

Does this app register the downloads with the Android Market? Or is this app similar to the Amazon App that gives away apps for free each day but in order to re-download them you have to have their app installed.

They don't. GetJar has their own market, so any updating would need to be done through it.
I do believe 4shared is not legal do not use it! Let's be moral and support our devs. We should also probably not continue speaking of it for the sake of the thread.

For the record, I was referring to GetJar, which is legal. I don't condone the use of illegal apps, via 4shared/wherever.
It wasn't aimed at you or anyone really, I just kept seeing it mentioned. No worries.

With the getjar, I heard people started having ads popping up when it was installed. Is this true? Is that why people install it to get the app then uninstall it?
BTW, even though they are free (I see things like Fruit Ninja FREE, etc), are these still add-supported apps? Or, is the free Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds add-free?
Thanks!
Maybe that's how they support putting paid apps for free on their website. The adds pay for the apps.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
I will say that I've had ONE ad randomly appear in my notification bar (saying I'd won an iPhone/iPad/etc), but a friend (on a different network, on a different, non-rooted/modified phone) that I know for a fact has no apps from Get Jar installed got the same thing an hour or two before me (he even called to ask me about it, since I'm his "android guy" lol). Still not sure what caused that.
(Sorry about all the stuff in parenthesis)

In my opinion, the best backup app that has worked as advertised in every ROM and every phone I've ever owned is Titanium Backup.
It's quick and easy to install and it's cheap to go pro, plus the dev offers incredible support and provides frequent updates to the software when needed.
You can do batch backups, backup only installed apps or the whole thing, it backup apps with the data; you can do cloud backups as well.
