HTC Jetstream Tablet (Honeycomb) - same Qualcomm APQ8060 SoC - TouchPad General

I've just read that the new HTC Jetstream (Honeycomb) tablet uses the same SoC as the HP Touchpad (Qualcomm APQ8060) ...
Is it good news for us?

To some degree, yes. The Sensation also shares a VERY similar SoC, though.

I'm seriously about to test an SDK port of ICS for the TouchPad.
The Puccini/Jetstream may help with drivers, actually...

Cheers. I'm about to post an initial ICS port; I already had this though
EDIT: Couldn't get it to boot just yet

No, HTC tablets use special screen.

I thought the ability was in the software and the capacitive pen?? Anybody else care to clarify?

The hability on the HTC Flyer (don't know about the Jetstream) is having a N-Trig digitizer screen (hardware)... And that's why it's RSP was $700 for a 7" tablet.
EDIT: typo

Thanks for clarifying..... Either way, evernotes new tool 'skitch' does pretty much the same thing without the need for the hardware and the pen

Well, looks like we're officially getting Sense 3.6

I know there has been speculation, and this is exactly what I was expecting, but it looks like HTC is trying to put some of Sense 4 in the Sense 3.6 update for us:
***This is a review on the Sensation, but we can expect the same thing with the similar build specs of our phone***
http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/03/05/h...the-sense-4-party-ics-update-to-be-sense-3-6/
Sweet! Hope we get it sooner than later.

How so? Our soc is definitely powerful enough.
It isnt about the hardware, at least not from the ram/cpu/gpu perspectice, as the htc one v will get sense 4.0.

Yep, this is same thing that happened with the Evo 4g when it was updated to gingerbread.
This is pretty disappointing from HTC.
How else will they get you to buy a new phone?

Cheaper prices? Better quality? Better battery? I can go on lol
Actually a model of the "one" won't be getting 4.0 either... The "one" without the new camera stuff.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
That's right. The One "V" will come with Sence 3.6
when the launch it we finally have drivers for the camera,so the dev/rom builders here on the board can fix the percent rom whit ICS
Not a surprise. It'll be as it always is. And we will still be able to run 4.0 after a few more things are fixed.

yes. this. exactly. we are missing the image chip for the new image sense. so no sense 4.0 for us. but without the image sense stuff i dont think we are missing out on much are we?

its got 4.0 on it actually according to HTC's site. I know a bunch of blogs and such said it was 3.6 but actual spec sheet lists 4.0. Might be a trimmed 4.0 but still 4.0.
http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-one-v/#specs
Sucked that device was out of commission at MWC as all the blog's that did hands on reviews of the One Series said the V wasn't working so all we got is the lil promo video from what ive seen.
Also interested to see what exact chip it has in it. All anyone can confirm is that its a 1GHz chip but everyone is all over the place saying if its S3 or S4 based. I'd think itd be S4 based but dunno for sure.
Ahh. Ok, I stand corrected.

ATT HTC One X w/ Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU ICS LEAK

There is now a ICS leak from the ATT One X with the Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU (NOT the Tegra 3 One X), just after the One S leak. So Since both leaks are out would it help to take bits and pieces and put em into the Rezound to get a Sexy Sense 4.0 Rom?
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/20823-htc-one-x-ics-leak/
We just got a new leak to check the devolopement form.

Yeah i seen it on androidpolice earlier today. So 1st a One S Leak then a Rezound ICS Leak and Now this One X Leak......Man am i Excited.
Which One X is is for? We had a leak for the Tegra One X a while back, but nothing came from it because it was based on the Tegra processor. If this is the Qualcom One X we might have something that the devs can work with.

Then we could very well be in business.
Edit your OP name to include the info that this is a qualcomm based build. That way the Devs know.
So this leak would help because att has 4g lte? Just wondering as to what is better the one s leak or this (In terms of helpfulness)

No it will help because it is based off of the Qualcom One X instead of the Tegra 3 One X.
So its more helpful than what the one s runs off of?

Yes because it also supports our 720p resolution as well as the Qualcomm hardware

This will indeed come in handy, I seen a lot of devs post about this leak and they sound excited. Hopefully devs all work together to get this fully working. Sure would be a great community project.

[Q] Is a One X ROM applicable ?

Hi,
as hardware are really similar, you guys think it is allowed to install a HTC One X rom on the XS ?
Cheers
Not similar at all so no.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
LOLing at the OP.
The OneX is a QUAD CORE and the XS is a dual core just for starters. All the hardware is completely different. Had a few joints before you came on XDA did you?
And what !
PC have many different hardware configs, but all can run i.e. Windows

If you want sense UI go to dev section there is a rom with sense UI I think.

Yes, but it seems it is not maintained anymore
Anyway, thanks for your answer.
i am going to try to port an htc sense rom (4.0) to the P
an port to the s would be possible after that

Ubuntu for tablets - HTC Flyer

So as most of you probably saw, canonical anounced
Ubuntu for tablets.
The hardware requirements are way above the Flyer hardware specs
but maybe there's a chance developers could port it for the Flyer.

I would love Ubuntu on the HTC Flyer. Ubuntu has been ported to devices such as the GS1 and NS I don't see why it couldn't run on the flyer.

I agree... But the situation doesn't change that much from cyanogen: all we need is still drivers, to get cameras and everything else working.
The good news is that with ubuntu we can have a higher numbers of developers working on ROMs and drivers.
For instance, with Linux on desktops you have no problems at all with drivers, whereas cyanogen ROMs works smooth only on few devices.

Hey Guys,
I might consider it. I know the brick % is around 90%. So I consider doing it. I know it means a lot to the community. So give me alittle time to think about it. Its about a $400 risk.
Thanks
I'd be willing to give it a try on an international device if you ever need some testers for one
