Grrr - HTC Jetstream

I like how after 30+ minutes of trying to book a flight on my Jetstream, the browser crashes before I can click submit. That's kinda... serious to me...
Real hot.
HTC/Android disappoint.

Ye Olde HD2 freezes

Hello,
I know, I know... old problem, yet there is still no definite answer to the question of continous random freezes. My HD2 is also experiencing them (worked fine for about 3 months, during which it never fell down whatsoever)
but!!!
I knew from a few days before the first freeze that something was wrong. The bottom of the phone was getting incredibly warm while heavily using the hardware (watching HD vids, browsing web etc.) Me being stupid did not think of it till today. So once again, knowing that my HD2 would freeze, I plugged it in to recharge the battery. This time - enlightened by the thought of old overheating problem - I put it right next to the opened window - it was -1 *C outside. Results? No freeze! Battery fully charged for the first time without a random reset! In my case this is definitely temperature-related problem, it could possibly not be just mine.
The question is: How to lower the temperature? I don't feel like using my phone in a fridge or moving to subpolar areas.
EDIT @28.02
So far my theory is correct. Once I kept the screen on for 10 minutes and was far enough away from the window, the phone restarted itself (and I was not abusing the hardware; I was, in fact, just writing a text message.) Normally it would shut down right after the attempt to load and stabilize the main screen, but since I put it right next to the window at the PIN window, it cooled down and now works fine again.

Maybe it is the battery, you could try an inexpensive replacement one from ebay.
Well, ebay is off the limits for me, but I will surely try some cheaper counterpart. It's been over a week and thus far my theory is proving to be correct - low temperature = no freezes.
The heat might also be caused by lots of stuff running in the background - have you checked this out as well?
Of course I did - Task Manager is one of the 3 apps on the main screen. I always make sure nothing is running, be it an app, or an unnecessary process.
But yes, some of the applications do increase the temperature, however I find that normal... well, as long as the heat does not make my HD2 shut down!
EDIT @ 09.03:
Waiting for a new batt to arrive. I just hope this is just some minor energy output problem and that's why my hd2 is overheating, leading to shutting down.
Got my new battery from a pretty decent company. Normally after turning off the phone and even reattaching the battery I'd have problems turning it on again (would have took me several attempts); however this time it went very smooth.
Any update on use with the new battery? I have the same overheating/screen lock problem with my HD2. Mine has done so after taking a call and having the phone up to my ear for several minutes.
Unfortunately it wasn't the battery. The most common circumstances in which my HD2 freezes is trying to use the internet, followed by playing music from the Sense player. The only thing left to do is to return it.
I declare HTC HD2 and the HTC tech support piece of junk.
Final edit:
Sold my HD2 and bought Desire HD. <3 Android!

ATP Performance?

So the tablet flies at times but a few areas I have seen trouble...
The browser is crap, hopefully the ICS upgrade will fix this. I don't care for Opera or any other browser, but I may have to switch if the ICS browser isn't better.
-Its very choppy when zooming or scrolling
-hitting links with your finger often requires multiple touches
-I haven't tested the WiFi speed but I haven't noticed it being exceedingly fast, probably seems slower than it should. I will test later.
On a good note:
-I opened up the Maps program about 15 minutes after I first turned it on, by the time the map loaded (about 5 seconds) it had me zeroed in at my house within 20 meters. I was inside on my couch. Haven't tried navigation, and likely won't for a while...not a big selling point for me.
It also has a little stutter when transitioning back from Browser to Home and you try to slide the pages...there is a little stutter the first few times.
I have also had a few FCs...
Just so we are all clear I LOVE this thing and won't be returning it. I have hopes that ICS will fix some of these issues. I am a glass half full guy, but posting on the great things it does wouldn't really help since I am looking for people to ease my mind on some of the issues I found.

The first eight hours.

So this morning when the local AT&T store opened I went and purchased the white note; Below are a few impressions after using the device non stop for 8 hours.
I asked the AT&T employee right off the bat which way he leaned toward the initial charging of the device. He recommended popping the sim / battery in and running it down until it reached the battery low level and then letting it charge to full, which I did.
It took about 3 hours to reach 10% from whatever it came out of the box charged at. During that time I synced Google, downloaded Netflix and various other apps to test out performance with.
In my area we only have 4G speeds and no idea when lte will be here so all of my initial testing was done with WiFi off using only 4G. I can't give you exact numbers since I had no network benchmarking tools installed, but I can tell you that browsing on the Note, compared to the HTC Inspire; The Note is much faster. Same with Market access and App downloading. To use as an example, Angry Birds Rio took 8 seconds from the time I clicked Install until it had downloaded and was installing.
Netflix downloaded and installed without incident, and movie playback on 4G was smooth, There was generally a 3 - 5 second period between pressing play and the start of any given movie. Skipping around in movies generally took 3 seconds to sync and continue playing. As far as graphical lag or stuttering I never experienced any video issues at all. Total time in NetFlix was about 30 Minuets.
Google Music playback was equally quick. It synced with my account and music would start streaming within 2 seconds of clicking play. Pandora had similar results, within a couple of seconds, changing between my defined stations and music would start right up.
Google Maps / Gps / Latitude: VERY FAST gps response. Took 10 seconds the very first time I started maps, 3 to 4 seconds each time after that initial fix. Indoors (Non metal building) resulted in a decent gps fix, that's something I never could get on my HTC Inspire.
I decided to use Swype over the default Samsung keyboard since I was use to it on my previous phone. Even holding in one hand and using my thumb, text input was fast and accurate, no lag. I can't give any input on the S-Pen as I am no artist, but pen to screen lag is less than those stupid department store screens where you sign your name.
Right now I'm getting ready to put my Dell Streak 7 / With Dock on eBay and re coupe some of the money I sent today, but I am VERY happy with this phone. I can't wait for ICS!

Nice review. I've been thinking about getting one of contract so before I spend that much money on something I want to make sure I'll be satisfied with it fresh out the box.
By the power of Exynos.
I don't think I want to install ICS with touchwiz as it looks horrible, but I will definentaly get CM9

The AT&T Version is Snap Dragon, not Exynos. But performance wise, it surpassed my expectations!

Strange overheating episode

Hey all,
Had a strange episode with my XS on saturday night. Was down the pub for a few pints for a birthday, there was a bit of live music. I took a few photos and like one two minute video but the phone was spending most of its time in my pocket. Then I suddenly noticed a warmth in my pocket. Took out the S to see it was at 47*C! It had been locked in my pocket for the last 3 or 4 minutes. When I tried to stress test it, I could only reach 41*C.
When after a few minutes it hadn't cooled I shut it down for ten and when I booted it again it was fine. I can only assume something crashed and left a bad process running on the CPU, I hope its that and not the battery.
What I'm wondering is, anyone experienced a similar "meltdown"?
Scratch.

I had the same "meltdown". It was the camera proscess that was hanging after capturing video. Try to lower the resolution to 720p. That helped me.

App switch lag & chrome stutter - why I'm returning

N9 seems to go through regular periods of app switching lag. It comes and goes regularly, sometimes a demanding app closes quickly then 15 mins later I'm waiting 5 to 10 seconds to get back to home for a screen or for the keyboard to pop open or close. But not just apps, widgets load slowly too coming out of apps.
That combined with chrome loading slowly or not displaying pages well and the scroll stutter are the main deal breakers. Opera, dolphin and chrome beta aren't good enough either.
Although I won't switch to an ipad I see none of this on ipad air 2 with safari browsing the same sites.
Lots of great stuff and i love lollipop here and on my N5 but the little experiential issues on this tablet in common tasks just ruin it. Have til end of January thanks to amazon but I don't imagine there will be an improvement on the necessary scale.
Finally, I'm at 3hrs 20 mins screen on and have 25% battery left. That's fine but not impressive.
FWIW this is a pre order white unit, bad volume up button, minimal light bleed.
Anyone else returning?
Do not have any issues with Chrome or switching apps?

Yes
Same here. I had two new 9's wifi, no issues with this. I now have the lte model and no such issues. Stock non rooted.
Hmm. I have all the GUI issues they talk about in the negative reviews on tech sites. Maybe I will return on account the buttons and try a newer one.
