going from 2.3 to froyo - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello, as a pretty new user to x10 the phone when I bought it was on 2.1 update 1 but I updated to 2.3, I am not enjoying the experience, and want to either go back to 2.1 or 2.2, I know its a case of using flash tool, and finding a good rom, can anyone point me in direction of a good rom on 2.1 or 2.2
regards
GARY

2.2 roms are all custom as see never released 2.2 for x10.
I suggest you wait and stick with 2.3.
If you can do that, look for wolfs 2.2 ROM or flash a generic stock 2.1

What could be so bad that u need to switch back to 2.1 or 2.2 im curious
Sent from my X10a using xda premium

I just found (not only on x10 but many other phones) that 2.1 and 2.2, although missing a couple of options, run a lot smoother, not many errors, gingerbread has quite a few errors, although the great rom mods have done a good job of ironing out problems, I suppose its personal taste....
so any good 2.2/2.1 custom roms?

[Q] closest to stock?

Hey there I'm new to android coming from iOS. Ive been trying new roms but they havent been working that smoothly for me. Wondering if theres a rom that is very close to official 2.1 but rooted
currently running froydvillain 1.5, overclocked to 652mhz (for some reason I remember my unrooted 1.5 my hero came with to be more stable)
BTW what is RUU is there a terms thread for nubs?
RUU is a Rom Update Utility. Its an executable made by HTC to flash new roms for people who don't have root/a recovery image.
As far as stock roms go, it depends which "stock" you want. Froyd is a vanilla 2.2 rom. 2.2 hasn't officially been released for our hero, so its a little bit buggy. Cudos to the developers though, I use froyd as an every day rom, doesn't give me any gip.
Anyway, 2.1 was officially released for us by HTC, and I would heartily recommend vanillaeclair 4 for your vanilla 2.1 needs.
Sense is the HTC GUI for the hero and us "stock" as far as the hero is concerned. Chocolateeclair is made by the same Guy as vanillaeclair, but I dislike sense, so I can't really recommend any good sense roms.

Villain rom 12 if you want a no frills 100% 2.1 rom everything works.
If you want to use 2.2 i am using froydvillain 1.5 all working well but a bit heavy on the battery apart from that working lovely here.
use rcmix, it's the best 2.1 rom imo.

Lol that's not right at all..if you don't really know the answer to a question then don't answer it. Anyhow the other person was right you need a rom that is 2.2 or higher in order to use flash.
You need a froyo (2.2) custom room like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=947613
Dude u need a 2.2 ROM, if u have rooted the phone, just install xrecovery and choose install custom rom & location of the rom zip.
Voila you are good to go
Can someone explain to me in layman's (ish) terms, why it's not possible to hack Flash Player support on 2.1?
I want to learn!
Because the framework for flash didn't exist on 2.1.. The only 2.1 that had flash was for htc and it was flash lite, but it sucked..
U just have to flash a 2.2 ROM like Free X10 and download Flash from the Market - Finish
Greetz, Kevin
Flash Palyer is working well on Free X10
thanks guys would you be able to tell me which custom rom is the best I mean best froya 2.2
thanks guys

Okay, so thats why there were a lot of rumors about Flash on 2.1
Because HTC had some Flash Lite. But, you could also install it on other phones, or only on some HTC?
Does flash realy need some files from 2.2 ? isnt there a way to copy these files from 2.2 and use under 2.1 ?

Only worked on htc phones because it required their sense rom...
There is no way no matter what you do to get it to run on 2.1. It will never happen.

Well your answer isn't entirely right either
Flash lite works on 2.1 Stock SE, I've tried it. But for the full experience, yeah u need one of the 2.2+ roms

Wrong that was a total fake rumor... Go to newgrounds.com, it will say it was installed but flash stuff doesn't work. I owned a htc hero for a long time before my x10 and went through when I rooted it and got rid of sense...

Again, there's a difference between flash and flash lite.
Most flash websites do not support flash lite, but there are a few that do. Many ads, for example, are based on flash lite. But anyway, I think the OP has got his answer, so further discussion is futile

Yes but newgrounds.com still did work with flash lite as it worked when I had htc sense, then once I rooted and installed a 2.1 custom rom it no longer did, even after I had flash lite supposedly installed.
Ask any of the htc devs and they will tell you the exact same thing guaranteed... It did not actually work...
Seriously go ask pulser, feeyo, any of them..

hey a Q about upgrade

hello everyone
i did not made any updates in the past couple of monthes
i have bionix 2.1, and would like to know what should i flash in order to have the most updated version around here.
i wont mind even experimenting with 2.3
thank you for your help

Try using axura or bionix v. Two of the best roms imo.

I'm not sure what's best for you but I've really enjoyed Team Whiskeys roms. I'm currently using their latest (Bionix V 1.2.1) and it's a great one. Never tried any of the others so I can't compare.
I have tried Axura, Team whiskey, Eugenes373, (Mostly does kernels now) Jellettes, (Einharjar, M10, Loki etc) All are excellent, there are others, it all depends on what you want. Read a little more on each and then flash one use it for a day then do another, after 3 or 4 flashing you get a sense of what you like, what is important..etc......... then you can make a better decision
Thank you about all the replys.
My Q was should i install from where i stopped?
Last time i install a rom was many months ago. so should i install from where i left, or can i install the latest 2.2 rom or 2.3 if i like experimenting?
tnx again for the great help

I think you might have to disable voodoo first then flash since ur on a old Rom. If ur not running voodoo or any lagfix u can just flash over it.
axura 2.3.0 with adw launcher ex
Honestly most the dev will tell you to coding to stock first, this probably is the ideal way to switch from one rom to another.
But if you don't wanna do all that just make sure to disable voodoo if you have it running
Hope that is where your question was going

Rom Help Newbie

Hello,im new in this forum. My friend to told me to join there is alot of info about x10 here. So I finally rooted my x10 and flashed all the roms. And liked only rendeiro and wolfbreak and rdnaar rom. The reason im posting this is flashing 2.1 roms the same? And what's a good fully functional 2.1 rom? Thanks everyone
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
use kxhawkins rom. i believe everything of a 2.1 rom is on it except for the stuff that slows it down like timescape and phone carrier crap. it has full functionality
look in the developement section for it of the x10. its the high performance one. i had it a few times and loved it.
i just wanted the gingerbread rom so thats wat i perfer
Sent from XDA Premium from my X10a rooted running 2.3.2 gingerbread rom from rdannar
You can also check Blue Sparks by Malabarth, tried it myself
You may have to upgrade, or down grade your baseband depending on the Modded Rom

AOSP eclair or froyo ?

As the title suggests I just wanted some ideas for my next rom
Is a aosp eclair better because all 2.1 roms I have seen are se firmware mods
Or is aosp froyo better as I have seen zdzihu and achotjan
Plz don't ask for htc sense
Or any other idea kindly post
Please post a nice reason for your choice if possible
Froyo....eclair doesnt support flash

Eclair ROMs are compete because we have the Eclair SE drivers. If you are going to make a new ROM, maybe wait for the official 2.3.3 Gingerbread update, and make a complete Gingerbread ROM.
