Exchange HTML message format? - HTC Rezound

My Message format option for HTML or Plain text is greyed out in my exchange settings. On my Dinc running OVO community rom sense 3.0 it wasn't greyed out. I'm connecting to the same exchange 2003 server. Was the OVO mail app hacked? Is there a way to get this working on the rezound mail app? Thx

Those options are available for me and the HTML format is working. I will say that setting it up was a little different than it was for me on the Thunderbolt as it required that everything be encrypted or it would not mount my SD card. Outside of that, it has been working beautifully for me. I am not sure if that helps.

Do you know what version of exchange you are on? This didn't work prior to sense 3.0 on exchange 2003. Maybe its broken in sense 3.5..

Unfortunately, I do not know the version and I know they have been making changes over the past few weeks as my email has been up and down. I had the Thunderbolt before the Rezound (very similar phones) and I have never noticed the HTML option being greyed out. Sorry that I cannot be of more assistance.

I haven't tried it yet, but am getting ready to on my business phone, but the Amazon App Store's free app of the day today is the Enhanced Email app. It say in the description that it has support for Exchange. It is normally a $10 app so you may want to give that a try.

HTML being available supposedly depends on the version of exchange you are running. I know ours hasn't changed here, but with Nils rom on my DInc, html emails worked.... So it's something to do with the box stock version of sense I would guess.

But HTML works on my Rezound and it is running the Stock version of sense. Have you tried removing the account and the re-adding it to see if something happened during the sync?

Like I said - it has to do with the version of the exchange server IIRC. In the custom rom's i think the option was enabled. In stock rom's, it asks the exchange server for the settign. We have run a very old version of exchange for a while here now... We are doing a huge server/equipment upgrade at my workplace this weekend, so I should get the ability back anyways with any luck!!

mail2web and new rom

since flashing the new rom mail2web has been acting up. when i send an email the receiver will get multiple copies (up to 9) of the same email.
anyone else have this problem?
otherwise m2w is working fine.
I think its something to do with mail2web, and not the rom.
I just sent my brother an email and he got five copies of it.
check this out:
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6800-xv6800/102444-mail2web-after-new-rom.html
looks like others have tied it to activsync on the new rom.
i had to mess with my exchange server settings, i unchecked the SSL encryption box and it has worked ever since.
that seems to work. thanks!

[Q] Removing Keyguard Password Policy due to Exchange

I am attaching the Mail.apk that comes with the Thunderbolt and begging someone who is up to the challenge to mod it and allow the removal of the device admin so I don't have to put in a password every 15 min. I hav.e searched and every patched Mail.apk for the desire doesn't work. I totally need this as I am sure that others will too. Your work will be legendary.
That would be so awesome.
On a side note...Why does Sense only let you sync 3 days with MS exchange? I have always synced 7 or 30 days with my other android phones.....Mytouch 3g, G2, and my Nexus 1
I don't think that it has to do with the Mail.apk as I can synk up tp thirty days. I just have to deal with the password issue. So in the mean time I am using touchdown.
Search market for lockpicker app. It bypasses the exchange policy that makes you enter your password. It's a sense thing. And this app was made for it.

Says it does not work with Froyo
The people in security at your work will hate you for this. It's there for a reason. You lose your phone and work data escapes... you can be jailed and fined (depending on the data)
I work for a company that has to be hippa compliant and mass HI-TECH compliant. We don't even allow android devices to connect because of things like the lack of device encryption.
Help please...
I accidentally deleted Mail.apk using titanium backup (idiot). I tried to install the attached mail.apk from the first post but it didn't install. Can someone please send me an apk that can be installed.
Thank you!

That is the APK from the stock rom and I did the same thing as you. But I was able to flash to a recovery that I just had made. I posted that Mail.apk directly from the stock rom and it wouldn't install for me either. The plot thickens...

It's far worse than what my employer's IT implemented...
Our Exchange policies haven't changed (I know many people at work who are setup to receive email + calendar from our corporate exchange server, nothing changed).
I only have to enter a pin ever ~30mins. Then I upgrade my Cappy to froyo and setup the exchange account again. NOW I have to re-enter it every time my screen blanks (timeout), even for 1 second.
This is froyo mail app folks, not my employer's Exchange settings. they didn't change, my email client did.
I want it back the old way. Not to mention calendar only synchs ~5% of my meetings now. crappy appy on my Cappy!

What ROM and version of GB are you on? I had some issues with 2.3.3 with certain ROMs... If you are running Eclipse 0.8 and up you should be fine. I use exchange for work and have no problems with my calendar...
Im on stock 2.3.4 its weird if i input on the phone it syncs to server but from computer/server it doesn't show up on phone.

That is odd... Maybe there is something limiting the sync from the server to the phone. It could also be an issue with MotoBlurs version of exchange and how they are working things. I am running Eclipse 1.2 RC1 and it has AOSP Exchange built in and I have no problems. Just to rule a few things out, download K9 Mail, or one of the other exchange programs from the market and try that to see if it works. If it doesnt work that way, it may very well be server side. What version of Exchange do u guys use? Do u know? Cause we use Exchange 2010 and I know I had problems when I was on stock Froyo and I havent run stock since....

OK... I really dont know to much about SBS 2003 but there very well may be something thats hindering the sync as it is a kinda AIO server mashup deal... Like I mentioned before tho, try a few of the market exchange apps and see if that changes anything, if you havent already that is... But my guess is that is has to do with Motos version of exchange they have thrown in with the rest of the Blur spaghetti code....

About to give up on the EVO LTE... which ROM(s) fix the stock mail app?

I'm a HEAVY E-mail user with one Exchange account, two IMAP accounts and two GMail accounts synced to my phone. I'm running the latest version of MeanROM which I mostly enjoy but the stock mail.apk applet has been completely overlooked. I'm convinced very few users maintain EAS accounts or bother with the stock app but it's pretty key to me.
It doesn't appear the 1.22.651.3 base or Sense 4.1 did anything to address the oversized font/zoom issue with the stock mail app nor did it fix the "Display Images" button on every message with HTML content. It also broke the ability to display links but that's a different issue altogether.
Which ROMs have addressed the stock mail applet or am I stuck with +20pt fonts on an otherwise gorgeous display?
I know CM10's default email fixes the issue (and bonus--you can flip through your emails without going back to your inbox). Of course, it also forces you to input your pin every time you want to use the phone, but that's a minor bug.
Links inside of emails NEVER worked for me on this phone, even when it was bone stock.
Clickable links in an email (and text messages) on a mobile device is patented by Apple and that may be the reason why they're not working in the stock mail app.
I can't speak with authority, but non-clickable links in email may be an intentional move by HTC to avoid getting sued.

I thought the meanrom had this fix??? I've never had any issues on mine. Then again, I run the stock w/goodies rom; 1.78 to be exact. I've had nothing but good luck with my email; even with meanrom.
Mikey just put up MeanRom 3.8 and I think he might have fixed these issues. Download it and try it.

Or use K-9 email because it's amazing and by far the best email app in existence.

Thanks for the notice-- I tried it and found no difference to mail. Links are still disabled in plain-text formatted E-mails and the too-large font issue remains. IMAP accounts don't auto-sync either.

I feel your pain.
Unfortunately you might just have to go with CM10, if this is you use Mail on your phone this much. The one feature lacking from the CM10 version is the inability to set an update schedule. But everything else is at least comparable.
And, just like with the Sense version, there is a version that bypasses Exchange security so you don't have to use a PIN to unlock your phone every time.
+1 on CM10
Thanks for the responses. I'm surprised few ROMs seem to address this. I'm going to try Stock w/ Goodies or CM10 next... Are there any glaring issues to look out for?

Have you used K9 mail? The logo is stupid but the app is amazing. It always is on top of "best email app" lists. Give that a shot before changing ROMs just for the sake of the email app.

I thought about K-9 but that was back when it still had the Gingerbread UI. I still do.t think I should have to maintain a third party app for basic functionality that HTC borked from the factory.
Does anyone know if this has been fixed yet? Or will I just need to find a new mail app?

Multiuser was finally enabled. Great news on that front.
With the update to 4.3 comes App Ops! Now we can restrict individual apps from accessing personal information.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/app-ops-brings-granular-permissions-control-to-android-4-3/
It is with misfortune that this functionality will be removed if our devices get updated to 4.4.2.
4.3 update install failed
I downloaded and there was a button that said install/restart. Clicked the button it disappeared, but nothing else happened. Didn't install 4.3... restart did nothing. If i try to download system update, it tells me the system is already up to date. I don't see the update file in downloads, could it be somewhere else. Any thoughts?
I understand that on most android devices the update goes on the cache partition (which is only viewable with root).

I got the update...mine is on 4.3.....software version shows 3830_V1.16. The only addition i can see is the multiple user option...OH AND IT BROKE the ability to sync with exchange for emails (using built in email). pain the the ass cause i got this to handle work stuff while lounging around and not having my laptop. Many other users are complaining about this issue but so far i have found nothing for a fix. I like the built in email and hate to have to buy an app just to get my work email now. grrr

I have the same email problem with my Hotmail: 4.2.2 worked flawlessly, but now 4.3 will not connect to Hotmail using the stock client. The workaround solution is to download and use Microsoft's official Outlook app from Google Play. You'll have to use the Outlook client to send and receive mail, but at least your email will start working again.
Hotmail settings that work
