Amazon Video APK - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Themes and Apps

The Amazon Instant Video APK has been pulled from the Kindle Fire and can be installed on the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
A couple of caveats:
(1) To use the Prime Instant video features, you must first purchase something to login. There is no separate login otherwise.
(2) It appears to only work over wifi
(3) If your device is rooted, it will not work.

It FC's on me on my Tab 7 plus when I try to purchase.

am getting FCs', was able to login. non rooted 10.1 w/o latest patch.

Google I/O 10.1 Galaxy Tab
It installed and works fine, however every time I click on a video free or paid, I get a FC.
Has anyone found a work around?

same thing for me: installs fine b FC's wh I try to click a free or paid vid.

Same here on Toshiba Thrive. Installs fine, but fc on purchase.

Why post this? 99.99 % of us are rooted. Maybe we can fix it to work for rooted devices?
Also it doesn't work. FCS EVERYWHERE

Umm...for the simple fact that you can use Voodoo OTA temp unroot from the Market. Also the new version of this APK in todays 6.2 update doesnt work. It says this device is not suppose to be able to run Amazon Video Player.
I assume Amazon is cracking down...

Never heard of temp unroot, thanks, but yeah, as of late, amazon released a fire update, ruining everyones root on the fire and deleting the market. Probably part of that updated.

Pr0tip: This works on Gingerbread but not on HoneyComb.

Bunch of hypocrites, they sell root only apps
http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/some_amazon_appstore_apps_require_rooting_att_need_not_apply/

installs and runs great on hp touchpad. however on purchase and login i get the following: Error linking device: Unknown error

What do you mean it runs great? I get to the point of seeing the button to play the video, but it is grayed out. I can play Amazon videos fine on my Exhibit II by temporarily unrooting the stock OS. It seems Cyanogenmod is somehow detected, because it doesn't work on my Nook Color with the Cyanogenmod either.

whoever wrote this article obviously has never had the balls to root a device and actually see what is possible, or even research it for that matter

I have the apk that allows me to play the videos for free that come with the amazon prime account (I signed up for a free month), but I don't see how to 'borrow' a book for free - this also comes with the prime account on kindle devices. Anyone have any information on how to do this on a Galaxy Tab?

Only Kindle devices can borrow books for free with the Prime membership. (you borrow directly from the device)

Two things. One KFHD looks for the device to be logged into amazon, I bet this requires framework not on our devices. Two, probably crashes when trying to view due to same.
Bottom line? Besides logcats to figure things out, I'm pretty sure a system dump will be needed to get the correct files to go with this......

You don't need to temp in root either. There's an xposed module called root cloak that let's you pick specific apps to hide root from. Works great

Does the amazon android market work on a Vegan Gtab?

I loaded it and it runs fine. When I try and download an app it starts then immediately says failed and a box that advises me to check my one click setting and try again. It appears to be comparing my one click setting phone number with my device but my gtab does not have a phone number? Anyone get it to work or seen this?
TIA
Yep, works and even updates itself. Your one-click settings are part of your Amazon account, and need to be set from their website.

Ya I did that and turned one click on but it wanted a phone number. I put in my home number but still seem to get the same error. I even turned both one clicks on with the same result. I'll keep playing with it...
Thanks
Do you have an Android phone that you can install from first? The app was designed with phones in mind, so that might be the issue.

No I sure dont. I think that is part of the problem. Was wondering if there was anyone in the same boat as me that got it to work. The Amazon site gives away freebies all the time so I wanted to take advantage of that.
Thanks
need to be install on phone first
yes it DOES work on the gtab
but you need to download it on a phone first, and after that you will have to setup your 1click setting and you will be good to go.

Yes the freebies are nice. You might be able to do some hoop-jumping with SIP and all of that crap, but I doubt it.
I have a phone with the Amazon app, so i made a separate Amazon account for my gTab. Helps keep the two separate, as I want different apps on my phone than my gTab.
If you don't have a phone, I believe you can enter an email address and do it that way.
Don't need a phone
I don't have an android phone and have a stock ROM on my gtab. The amazon app store is working great. I don't think it ever asked me to enter a phone number.
I gave it my email, they sent a direct link to the APK, downloaded and installed. Then went in to amazon a/c and turned 1-click ON. That was it. I have installed numerous apps and they work (except 1 or 2 which I guess were meant for a phone).
No phone here either and Amazon market works for me on Vegan.

That's how I did it as well. It asks for a phone number OR an e-mail address. Just provide your gmail address and you'll receive the e-mail on the g-tab (if it's set up as your default account) download the APK, install, and it should work fine.

Amazon Video App working on Prime?

Has anyone got the Amazon video app working on their Prime? I installed the apk from another thread on XDA. It installs fine but when I click on a video it says "Unfortunately Amazon Video has stopped."
the only amazon app i found in the market on my prime was mp3, so im assuming the other amazon apps dont work, i been trying to get amazon shopping to show up
It isn't in the market. I'm talking about the Amazon Video app taken from the Kindle Fire which is reportedly working on other tablets as long as they are not rooted. The apk is available in several other threads on XDA including for the Nook. It would be very cool especially for people with Prime to get this app working on the Prime. My guess is it worked on the Prime on HC but not ICS. I didn't try it on HC before I upgraded to be sure though.
doesn't work here either
I wasn't able to get it working on mine either. I was able to sign in and everything, but any time I click a video I get an error. I don't see why this app is exclusive to the kindle in the first place. It really limits their sales.
I haven't tried it myself, but I seem to recall reading a thread that stated that you could watch movies via the browser just fine.
I got it working on a rooted kindle by using voodoo to temporarily unroot.

But not running ICS I presume? My understanding is it will not work on unrooted or ICS devices.

Cablevision Optimum App with Live Streaming

Here is a link to Cablevisions Optimum app that allows you to stream live TV for Cablevision customers. The one on the Play store does not work on the Transformer prime but this one does.

*EDIT: Forgot to mention that after first signing in and exiting the app, you will have to clear the apps data and enter your login information everytime you want to use the app.*

Download link works for me. App works with live streaming of cable channels, plus remote control of cable boxes in my home. As the OP described, you need to clear the app data and sign in each time you run the app. Good find.

Out of bandwidth. Someone else host it as well please? Dropbox maybe?
this works on my rooted gt n7000
asks me for permission I deny and bam it works
on my non-rooted nexus 7
I followed the same directions and after logging in it asks me to update my version and that it's too old
do I need to be rooted for this to work ?
Can we get a modified app which will let us use external displays?
Amazing!! Thank god!
I am so happy, im sitting here watching sports center on my Tablet (Zenithink C93 ZTPad)
When I tried to use live TV feature with the App in google play it says that my device is not supported. This one works perfect on my 10" tablet.
now im really happy. because this is much nicer to watch on than my 4.5" phone screen.
The next thing I need to figure out is how I can watch the optimum app on the road. (not on my home router). They say to use VPN, I can see that working, however Id like a simpler option, if at all possible.
Anyone have any ideas?
Finally Cable vision releases it! Two years late...lol
Inserted 20ยข for the first three minutes
uh oh.... problem
So it works fine when u install and run it first time. once u close out of the app and restart it goes back to saying "not supported". Why is this? is there anything we can do to make this work. I think it might be VERY inconvienent to constantly uninstalling/reinstalling everytime i have to open and close this app.
any suggestions ppl?
EDIT:: Ok i didnt read thoroughly the first post. that i have to clear the data everytime. i guess that will have to do then. not the most inconveient scenario. i just wish optimum didnt have to be such a **** about it. they obviously have some sort of kickback from Apple because they have supported apple devices including ipad for years before the Android version was released.
and considering the EARLIEST android version of optimum app works fine with my tablet, it is obvious they are holding us back on purpose.

SlingBox PLayer for Shield TV

No root, if you are running on stock OS you need to sideload the tablet version because (at least in my case) the phone app won't show the remote button. Performance is very much ok
The FireTV version of the Slingbox player works the best IMHO because it supports full functionality of the Shield remotes and does not require use of the virtual remote the way that the Phone and Tablet apps do. My guess is because it was designed for a non-touch screen interface. It can be tricky to acquire but I side-loaded that apk and it works great at home and in the car. Just a suggestion!

Ya same question...i tried to run the firetv apk pulled straight from the unit...would not start.
OMG i take it back...i guess something changed in the Nvidia shield code or on the back end of the app because i installed the version of slingplayer for firetv i have and it worked! loaded up just fine.
Have to do more testing but very nice stuff!
Anyone got a link to the Slingbox apk please?
Here are 3 versions, I have one that is untouched, one that has the amazon dependency removed, and one that has the amazon dependency removed and leanback code added. I still can't figure out what isn't loading properly at launch to handle the login process. I think amazon might have a deeper integration blocking the app from fully loading.

Are you using one of the apks that I posted? Also what setup do you have, I'm running lollipop and all I get is a blank screen.
No I got mine when I pulled it from my mother's fire stick. My version does not have the _63 after it. I'm running marshmallow but it worked on lollipop also.

none of the attached apks work, anyone else got the Fire TV version working? (who doesn't currently own a fire TV)
I'm also looking for a working version of SlingPlayer for the shield tv. I don't have an amazon fire I tried all the attached apk's and none worked. I'm able to install them all and the versions in first link crash after logging in and trying to watch. The other version by Jerlash says I'm not the owner of the app so can't use it. The tablet version works decently but only with mouse and keyboard and when viewing the remote it only shows the top half of it.
Yeah there hasn't been a solid solution as of yet. The native Fire TV apk crashes after logging in, my hacked versions have this same issue.
Any news on this?
Any news?
this is kinda ridiculous and likely being held back to promote the abysmal Sling TV offering
Just so everyone is aware i got the to install and run on my shield tv but it would not show any video...just crash. it is silly that an android app built from the amazon fire tv that would clearly work on this box is blocked by some hooks in the apk... hope they release an app soon or i may just pickup a cheap fire stick just for sling
Now they removed the ability to cast from my phone to Android TV, I f*cking hate sling!

Amazon Underground doesnt load all the way?

So I managed to root my kindle fire hd 7 with kingroot and to my surprise its actually rooted. I root checked it and it came up rooted.
PRIOR to rooting, I updated my kindle fully. However it could NOT install amazon underground on legit vanilla updates only.
AFTER rooting, I was able to fully install amazon underground easy. Everything shows in the other app sections EXCEPT underground apps.
For exmaple if you click on the left pane tree, then click underground apps, the screen pops up but nothing loads. All I see is All Apps & Games | Underground Apps.
It seems like it wants to load but the only thing that shows is a black bar under the menu.
So it would look like:
All Apps & Games | Underground Apps
======blackbar=================
(white space)
Interestingly enough PRIOR to rooting, the regular appstore app did not show the Free Game of the Week section but it showed EVERYTHING else. I was also able to download and install other games NOT in the Free Game of the Week section. So at first I thought it had something to do with my membership with amazon but im a Prime member. Amazon underground works with my nexus 7 thats also rooted. It simply seems like this kindle just cannot display Underground Apps.
Google Play also does not work with this rooted Kindle Fire (it installs fine but shuts down right after starting it) but that doesnt bother me. I do like Amazon Underground though and would appreciate the assistance.

I too have this issue. It's rather annoying. I get a return of error code 500.
If you happen to find a fix, can you please reply. I will likewise do the same.
