My "stock" 2.3.5 Rom (perfect? For me, it is :D) - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hey People,
just wanted to share my Configuration of the new XWKS9 Firmware. Android 2.3.5 and Baseband KS2 ! Download it from here.
All Credits, of course, for the following go to their respective Authors/Devs !!
Please take care of the Information and be careful while flashing !
My Problem with the FW was first that it didn´t start correctly after flashing. Solution : Hold Power + Home till you get into Recovery, then Wipe everything, reboot, it will work
Once you got booted up, Power off and go into Recovery again, then flash the CF Root Adaption from here here make sure that you download the
CF-Root-S5830-v3.7-b82.zip (11.95 MB)
After flash, you have the KS9 Firmware rooted and some bonus :-D
Many thanks to ketut.kumajaya for this !!!
The Language in the Rom is Dutch first. You need to go to
"Instellingen" then "Landinstelling en tekst" then "Taal selecteren" and then choose your Language.
To get Access to the System Folder of your Phone, use ES File Explorer from the Market. (Switch to "Root Explorer" and Mount System "RW" in Settings")
Now delete the Samsung Stuff you don´t want, or need. But be careful, some .apk are very essentiel and deleting them may brick your FW so you have to reflash !
A list of Files that can be deleted will follow here ! (.apk & .odex)
- Clockwidget - Deskclock - Dualclock - Forest - GenieWidget - jobmanager - Marketupdater - MyFiles - Protipps - Samsungapps - SamsungAppsUna3 - SamsungWidget_ProgramMonitor - SamsungWidget_Stockclock -Swype - syncmldm - thinkdroid
These are the Apps I don´t use, delete with caution !
Just make a Backup in Recovery (that came with the CF Root Adaption ) before you delete files, so you can easily restore your Rom !!
Browsing in XDA-Forums I found this :
The Gingerbread Keyboard, installable File from here
Thanks to hotaru for this !!!
The Stock Launcher (Touchwiz) isn´t very nice I think, my choice was GO Launcher EX from the market, you can customize so many things with it!
But I also found a nice Launcher here many thanks to claystoneinc for this !
If you don´t like the Facebook Widgets you may try this from Kamma, many thanks to him for that !! There is another one I found but havn´t tested, Screenshots do look promising ! Get it from here Thanks to ericcsonka
I am going to upload a little Collection of very useful Tools I found here in the Forum and in different Roms I used. Don´t Panic, it´s all freeware, all Files are also available trough the normal Market or from XDA Forums! If there is anything that isn´t correct please let me know !!!
I hope that this helped a little, yes I know, noone asked for it
Update : Here are the Tools Tools

I was looking to do this too. Most of the steps seems to make sense to me. Especially the list of apps to delete is useful.
One question though: Why would you install the Gingerbread keyboard seperately?
KS9 is Gingerbread right?

Some suggestions for you guys, if you wanna have my ROM the fastest:
1) When installing my ROM, if you can, don't do any backup - I know and everyone too I think, that every backuping from older/other ROM can cause some issues or lags - it depends of files, which you restore.
2) If you install my ROM give them some 1 hour to aplicate all scripts/tweaks for amen, don't install any addons etc. - just light system.
3) Now after 1h install this addons what you need/what you like and test my ROM for next 4 hours - play with frequency, play with all apps, feel free to restart 2/3 times or more and do everything you can do, but still remember that device can lag sometime on this 4/5 first hours - after this - it will be the fastest demon you ever saw
4) First booting after flash ROM via xRecovery can (BUT NOT MUST) cause WLOD or bootloop. Don't be afraid - just replace battery and run phone again - everything will be just fine.
5) I suggest you to delete Setup Wizard after installing ROM - can't do this myself, cause it broke camera - if you do this youself after aplicate all ROM camera still will be working like a charm - don't know why this happening -.- . I want to add something too - Setup Wizard have lag after choose language - just skip it please (after choosing lang.), everything will be awesome and brilliant, but only this setup not ;/. Can't repair it, beacuse too many things was moded/deleted/edited, but I think you don't really need this, you can delete it as I said .
6) If you don't wanna "crazy shaking" itself about widget (after you pinch-to-zoom on wallpaper), just install Playstation Certificate, BUT flash it like last file - it will fix it. And one more - I suggest install it, beacuse it has one "script" inside, and this can optimize some RAM .
nice bro ! I can't wait for your release....

The best and the fastest ROM for X10. As I wrote in first post - go to my channel on YT and check mini-presentation of this. Cheers.
As I good heard ZMOD is not based on stock 2.3.3 ROM, am I right? If yes - then no - can't do this. Second thing is I don't know how other ROM will take all this scripts/tweaks/tricks. So no way I think - just wait for DiXperia and test it - you will see how it runs in real time.

glad to see a new face here on x10 dev section...
@kinglargo, yeah, it's my video BUT it's not the same tweaks like on my ROM - some can be done, something not - this tricks what I talk can't be "ported" - those which are in Zdzihu ROM on that video are only few, nothing big progress, but visible .
BTW: some update in first post, if someone wanna read go there .

CirclesMod - For your Ganbarou ROM 1.00

Hello everyone.
First of all, english is not my native language so don't expect a perfect writting from me.
This is my first post, and it's about a simple modding thing that I was hopping I could find it somewhere on this forum, but unfortunatelly I lack of luck. It is not like I don't like the charging icon that appears on the notification bar on my tablet, but I find another type of mods more stylish and pretty. That's why I customed my SystemUI.apk to get this on my Android.
I used a tool from shayne77 that easily customize the battery indicator on CM9-based ROMS and original CM9 ones, so if you want to say thanks the credit its all for him.
It works specially with the Ganbarou ROM v1.00 for Galaxy Tab P7510, and it was tested by me and I hope it should work fine with yours.
I include in this post two attachments:
the ZIP file is flashable via CWM or similar recovery software.
The APK is the SystemUI.apk itself, and if you don't want to flash your rom, you can copy it with a File Explorer with Root Permissions in /system/app/.
I expect this would help someone!

About roms

Please help.
Is there anywhere in this forum that gives a simple explanation as to what each Rom does and what are the advantages that they give if you flash them?
I've looked through the development forum and there isn't much information given for a newbie like myself that wants to try romming my s3, well if there is I can't really find it cause each topic about the roms I've read don't exactly say what they do.
It would be great if there was a list explaining all the roms with links to each one and why they'd be useful.
Forgive me if this post seems silly and there is such a topic and I'm just babbling on cause I've looked and have no idea which Rom would come in handy for me cause I'm completely lost.
I'm amazed at what these android phones can do but really really lost and want to learn and maybe make my own themes as I'm a digital artist and would love to make original themes that people would like, but that's another thing I'll learn about in time.
For now I'd love to learn about roms.
Guess I'll try to figure it out myself, ah well I'll get there....
Can't say that there is a thread for what you are looking for but I can say it doesnt hurt to just try them. See which works best for what you are doing and wanting. It is very subjective.
I personally make use of omega and love it
Sent from my Jelly Omega SIII using XDA App
Well I think there's a sticky somewhere in the forum listing all the roms for i9300.
They generally give description of what they offer, but generally sammy based roms rids any bloatware, adds in their tweaks, whereas aosp based roms are missing the sammy functions.
I suggest you have a go at each rom. Just do a nand backup of original and flash the different roms. Doesn't really take that long.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Hi,
If you are too newbie to understand what each ROM does or not... don't flash anything, keep your stock ROM.
Read the OP (the first post of the thread) of each ROM and read the descriptions, features, changelog... if there anything you don't understand... maybe Google can help you...
You need to learn a little by yourself... and right, I agree, try som ROM by yourself, test, see, etc... you'll see faster by yourself than asking here wich ROM have this or that or don't have this or that, do this or that or don't do this or that, etc... and no, there is not a stickie wich explain each ROM function, feature, etc...(it's in the OP of each ROM->READ or wich ROM is made for you, we are on XDA developpers... (!?!).
Test, test, test... and test (after reading) by yourself, it's how you'll learn. Backup your current ROM, flash, test then if you are not happy... flash another ROM, test... etc....
But since you you opened a thread... maybe a specific term or feature you don't understand?
I hope this thread will not going to finish in a "wich is the best ROM" thread...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Thanks for your replies, not much of a learning curve in here for people that really want to learn and the explanations on the first page of each thread doesn't really give a good description of what they do.
I'm all for these roms and think it's great that the developers here can take something and improve on it to give it better performance and have something for everyone.
It wouldn't really hurt though if there was such a thread that each developer of their roms could give a small description of what they do, it would be a very helpful thread and would cut down on people bricking or messing up their mobiles.
Really think a thread like this is needed here, well it's just a suggestion.
I've been to each thread and read what it says but can't really find easy to read descriptions anywhere.
Think I'll try the omega as that's been mentioned twice to me so must be good.
Anyways I think the developers here do amazing things to android phones and it's opened up a new world to me which I really want to be part of.
Good day to you

Rom is Deodexed + Rooted + Zipaligned

All is detailed and explained, right? If there is something you don't understand... Google-it or ask here for a specific term... You realy need to search and read a little by yourself... If we have to explain each lines...
I agree for a newbie, maybe, deodexed or zipaligned is not very evident... but... Google is your friend
The devs explain the features of their ROM (like a kernel) but it's also to the user to make an effort in reading, searching, understanding and learning (a minimum). The devs can't be behind each user to explain everything to them and teach them or to flash their ROM in place of the user because the user know nothing or he won't read and search. There are other members to help of course, but there is also a responsibility of the user...
Its been said for any flashing if you cannot understand the very basics like read and search then you are likely to brick your phone .
Every rom has details in the first and second posts as shown above .
jje
Yeah you're right I'm so used to symbian and using software and firmware which wasn't open as much as android is and when I first visited the developers section was a bit overwhelmed by it all, had my phone not even 3 weeks and learned about rooting, changing firmware, modifying games and now onto roms.
Will read up on Google what things like bloatware and kernel means.
Was interested in a Rom that allows to use my external to add apps and something with better battery performance.
I'll learn in time, bit cautious about adding roms cause of deleting all my data cause last time I tried nandroid I couldn't get all my data back it didn't work and when tried to get back my sd data from the toolkit the data went back but none of the apps showed up and it said that I had used memory putting it there.
I'm not going to install any roms till I get a better understanding of them, I like to learn about things before jumping in.

Re,
This! Very good thought
You'll see that with all good reading you get there and you will learn mostly , a bit of search and you're good to go!
In any case, if you do not understand some specific terms, there will always be someone to answer you here, I mean here in your thread...
So is nandroid best for backing up my phone before I have a go at roms and does it save ALL my apps and data cause this information I couldn't find on Google wasn't very specific what it backs up
Re,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927113 , needs to read but it's usefull
Yes a Nandroid backup is like an "image" in windows, total back-up except modem and internal/external SD Card (****!, don't remember for the kernel, I think no, need confirmation). All is like at the moment when you do the back-up (apps, settings, SMS, data apps, etc...).
According you're rooted...
I hope I forgot nothing...
EDIT: like slaphead20 said, I totaly agree (but don't speak him about efs: too early, hum I'm just kidding, it's the right way, maily about the efs folder), in nay case Nandroid back-up first, it will save you if something goes wrong...

Yes it is, and if things go wrong you will restore your phone to the exact point you backed it up.
Use k tools(play store) to back up your efs, and copy that to pc.
You have the right attitude, take your time and learn, don't be afraid to ask......I lurked on XDA for 3 months before even joining!
Enjoy and all the best, any questions you can also try asking over in the general thread in general, it's a safe place to ask anything, but do try and find solutions first with search
Thanks for the links and help, now got to Google what ef's is.
So much to learn, rooted two days after getting my phone was quite simple I'm a very quick learner if the information is there.
Re,
About efs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852255
Hum, maybe a little hard... (Verizon or International version, the princip is the same).
EDIT: a toolkit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488
I know, I know it's not the right way to learn but...
EDIT 2: you're rooted, you have done the most important!
Thank you, I'll read up on all that cause it will come in very handy.
I've run out of giving thanks for useful replies cause I was only allowed 8 apparently, not allowed to be over generous here.

[Q] Paranoid ROM : Impossible to install "Options Chooser"

Hello,
All is in the subject.
In fact I can install it but when I get into the rom I have :
- no Google Play.
- Only Holo launcher and another are available.
I'have proceeded like this:
- From MROM I have 'reboot' in CMW recovery (version 5.0.2.0).
- Then I have flashed the ROM. "No tweak and with full wipe"
As explained , I have fixed the permissions.
- Then I have installed 'Blueslep'
and finally I have installed "Options Chooser": - all launcher - all apps - Adobe Flash.
Tell me If I have done something wrong because I don't understand where I have missed something .......
Thank you for your help.
I have now installed the Gapps For JB 4.1.2 ... and it won't work too ...
The purposes of this question are :
- Why my Atrix won't installed the complete ROM + Apps ...?
- Is the fact to have not all the features provided with the ROM can be an issue for the ROM usage and/or stability ? (I mean does my ROM will no be so efficient than for another user who has successfully installed everything) ?
- If I have missed something, can you please help me ...
I've tested JB and I go back to MROM ... but since 2 days I want to go back to JB as the interface and the speed is something I don't want to lose ...
Thx

I have the same problem, Google Play can't be installed under any circumstances with the given packs from this thread on my device.
Since the Paranoid rom is the only fast rom with kind of lapdock support, it would really awesome get this one working...

Same problem here.
the problem seems inherent to aroma installer since a few days, i advised someone to install epinters gapps and he said it worked.
However, he did have to do a clean install in order to get it to work.
So perhaps you should just flash your system partition, reinstall the rom and then flash epinters gapps, you can find these on his website

How to fix NFC Issues in Blekota S5 Lite V7 [ArchiPort rom]

Hey, So I got the Blekota Rom V7 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-blekota-s5-lite-beta-4-5-1-t2752331 ) for my S3 and it is pretty good, it is based onArchiPort, and i got Boeffla Kernel With it.
It is really great, However recently i tried to use the NFC and , it won,t turn ON. So i spent some time and managed to fix it.
I don,t really know if this is a general issue in Blekota rom, or it is just me. I think that it is only me because the dev did not mention it in the NOT WORKING section.
So here is How To fix NFC in Blekota s5 [ArchiPort Based roms], I have no idea if this works with other roms.
We are going to Re install the NFC and the NFC Test From ArchiPort github (Google is our friend )
Requirements
1-Root
2-System app remover http://goo.gl/M0Lwbx
3-nfc.apk and nfcTest.apk [Link below]
4-Any File manager
1- Make a nandroid back up i don,t know if this can affect any other services in your device
2-Open System app remover and grant it super user access
3-Search for NFC Service and nfcTest
4-Tick them both and Uninstall
5-Click on the recycle bin on the top right and make sure Both apks are there
6-Open the File manager and go to "jumobile'' Then "recyclebin'
7-You should see both nfc.apk.backup and nfctest.apk.backup , Move them to a safe place.
8-Copy the new nfc.apk and nfctest.apk , you can download them below.
9-Paste them in "jumobile'' Then "recyclebin"
10-Rename nfc.apk to nfc.apk.backup , and rename nfctest.apk to nfctest.apk.backup
11-Open System app remover (i recommend to Clear the memory then open it)
12-Go to the recycle bin and tick both apks and click Restore.
Note : Some times it fails to restore, Keep trying and it will work
Now , Go to the expanded notification bar (Double finger swipe) or Go to the Settings --> NFC , and Turn it on.
Also Turn on Android Beam, They both should work correctly
I don,t really know why this works , But it does, I tested the NFC Service and managed to Copy Pictures/Videos from my friends Devices.
To Download the NFCTEST.apk and the NFC.APK
Go to
https://github.com/JustArchi/ArchiPort/tree/master/out/system/app
And search for nfc.apk and nfctest.apk , Use Ctrl + F to search if you can,t find them
Click on them and Click on "VIEW RAW" to download.
I noticed this.
nfc.apk from Blekota rom is : 732.35 KB
nfctest.apk from Blekota rom is : 36.13 KB
nfc.apk from Archiport Github is : 734.11 KB
nfctest.apk from Archiport Github is : 36.03 KB
Not much difference, but the Github apk,s Work
Also, if some one can make a Flash able zip that can Replace the current apk,s with github apks, that would be great
And that's pretty much it. I hope this works for you if you have Broken NFC. And it might work with other Archiport based roms , Please reply if it worked for you.
Hit That thanks button if you found this Thread Helpful.
P.S : I hope i wrote this in the correct section
