Android Market installs on Nook Tablet (Force closes on download attempt) - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know I got android market to work on my nook tablet. Don't know if anyone else was able to yet. I pulled market apk off of droid charge and pushed it to nook, installed and it let me enter user info. I will post screen shot in a minute.
UPDATE:
Added photo and APK I used
UPDATE 2:
Upon attempting to download anything from market app forces closes, will not open again.

I spoke too soon, it launches but force closes.

It is now force closing on me, on the plus side if I access android market from computer it now lists Nook Tablet as one of my devices.

I got it to run once, then it force closed when i tried to download something. Now it force closes on Start.

It also crashes for me when I try to install or update an app. I wonder if this has to do with the same storage issue Amazon Market had before I installed an SD card. Before installing an SD card, Amazon Market refused to install anything. It appears that Android Market might prefer to crash.

Op, can you change the title of the thread? I don't want to lead any one on.
Thanks for the effort tho, we shall keep trying.

Title changed =( Man I was so excited for a minute.

Looks like it quits on start because its still trying to download what ever app you last selected.

Does android generate an error report when apps force close? If so perhaos we could pull that and alter android market apk to work around issue. Just a thought.

Right guys. I had this issue on my D255 netbook when installing it. I'm trying to remember the solution, but if I'm right your logs should complain about a problem with download manager?

I pushed an app to nook via android matket website, after a few minutes NT attempted to install. It is still sitting here attempting to start download.

I'm uploading you my /system/app, just nick the files that you need, install a market 3.3.11 APK, with the libs & other stuff from a gapps-mdpi (froyo build) (CyanogenMod site) and it should work

Here you guys:
The system app folder
The app 'Firefox' is actually chrome, I'm quietly working on full chrome for android, but it needs a 1gb IMG for the SD Card

[APK Request] AutomateIt (SOLVED 3/23)

Market believes that the free app AutomateIt is not compatible with my Nook, despite the fact that I'm running Froyo. I tried modifying the build prop but it still won't work. Could one of you post the apk for me, assuming that's not a no-no?
EDIT: This thread may be deleted. I figured out how to use the backup function in Astro's application manager to get a copy of the apk file off my un-rooted phone.

You might try using Appbrain's direct installer?
I tried doing that with fast web install through app brain. All it did was add the app to my list of apps to be installed on my device. I still had to hit install from within the app on my Nook. When did that, the install hangs for about 20secs and then quits.
I also tried direct installing it from the android market through the web browser. It refuses because it thinks my device is incompatible with the app.

Does anybody have the apk for this app? Or would someone be willing to download it from the market and then attach it here? I edited the post title to clarify.

[Q] Market woes.

For some reason when downloading an app from the Market, the app will keep re-downloading if i exit the Market. The only way i can download anything is to keep the market open to allow it to fully download and install.
Anyone else have this issue? is it because of the V6 supercharger script?
I do not use a task killer at all.
Happens constantly. Extremely annoying. I also can't download and install .apks directly from my phone no matter what. The ONLY way I can do it is by connecting to my computer. Then that creates a new USB issue all together.
General rant. Sorry. This thing needs a custom ROM like a fat kid needs cake.
Couldn't agree more with that last statement, I occasionally get the same issue with the .apks bit it's not constant.

You can't install .apks from your phone's SDCard because you have "Unknown Sources" unchecked in your application settings menu.
I also have the problem where quitting the market application will cancel downloads, but it doesn't do that whenever I "minimize" it, if you will, only whenever I force quit it.
Is this what you're talking about or am I misunderstanding?
I believe it's from minimizing it as well. Also unknown sources is selected on my device I believe the only reason I've had any lock ups in installing .asks is due to an occasional glitch in Dolphin, also how does one properly minimize an application?

By hitting the home button. If you'd like to continue where you left off after minimizing an app hold the home button down until recent apps pops up.

That's a mighty big assumption that I have it unchecked. It is checked. This isn't my first rodeo pal, I know what I'm doing.
same problem
Must be one of those beautiful software glitches, not too gamebreaking though. I still love this phone.

Issues with downloading apks
I've had some issues with unsuccessful downloads of apks. I've been tweaking 7 different x2 and the issues seem completely random. I've saved all the apks to a folder on the comp, so now I just drag and drop them in. Installing hasn't been a problem though. I was wondering if I should try the new market update or stick with what I have. Haven't really noticed an issue with it, on any of them.

New Market on Tab

Installed fine on TouchWiz ROM. Can others report if it installs with no issues on stock ROM?
Edit: Took down download link. Not tablet friendly.

Stock 16gb here.
I got it installed
I now have two market apps installed. It did not override the tablet market. Also, I don't have access to the movies section.
I tried it and uninstalled it within a minute or so. Obviously not optimized for tablets. will wait for official release.
Agree...looks good on the cell. Not so much on tablet. But it is working..

yea I have a feeling this is the same apk for both the mobile and tablet because it works better on my TB than my GT 10.1
even then, it is alot slower compared to the previous market so idk if this is worth it just yet
Damn...i broke my market. I uninstalled the new one...old one seemed to work until i try to install an app or load my apps. Then i get a com.Google.android.finsky force close. Ideas anyone?
Edit: a data wipe and restart fixed the issue.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
yes data are not the same so have to clear it before installing the new one or after uninstalling it.
finsky is FC for me
I screwed up my market by installing then uninstalling this and wiping market data in settings and a reboot didn't fix the issue.
Market runs but when I click on the "My Apps" in the upper right I get a FC.
Can anyone send me the market vending files I need to push to my Tab's system/app folder to help me fix?
(and yes I know I am an idiot by not doing a Titanium Backup of Market before installing the new one).

See post #7 - Should do the trick.
Thanks for trying this out and reporting back, guys. I installed it on my Nexus S without issue but decided not to pull the trigger on my tab.
Looks great on MT4G. I will wait to install on my GT10.1

Hmm, i just opened market, went to apps, and found youtube. Downloaded and installed just fine.
1. Perhaps you should install the gapps 20110828 again, and install with ROM Manager.
link is here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version/Google_Apps
2. when in doubt, you could always use the patch:

hopefully this'll get it all fixed up for ya.
you need to flash a market fix. The market hides them because it thinks they don't work well on the screen size.
i lied, fix is actually linked on this forum as well

CM7 Alpha 2.1 is supposed to incorporate this patch, but I'm not sure if it works correctly for those people updating without wipes.
I was not able to find youtube application and when i searched in browser and open the link market I got message that in my country I was not allowed to install it. What a BS
So onlyway was to find an apk

I get YouTube n all that Google ish but the problem I'm having is when I search for something n tap the number of results it doesn't show all 1500 apps it only shoes about 90.

Try "Craigslist HD" app. Can't find it on touchpad and Its specifically for tablets. Also, is there a fix for not being able to see all the search results? Search gives 50 results sometimes but only shows the first 20 or so.
Both these problems occurred on alpha 1 and 2.1, and with the market fix flashed.

[Q] Amazon Appstore not working

Anyone have any luck with the Amazon Appstore?
I installed the most recent version and it just opens to a black screen with the Amazon Appstore log and search box at the top and the menu button at the bottom. Nothing responds.
Does anyone know where I can get a reliable previous version?
Edit--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I acted too soon. I had an old version from October 2012 that works.
I have the same problem - and I had to use the same solution. Very strange problem and I wonder if there's more than two of us with it.
I've seen other posting the same in other forums. Hopefully Amazon finds a solution soon. I'd really like to get rid of the update message everytime I run the Appstore.

YES - Don't do it for now. Something is messed up with the newest version to where it won't let you log on or download any of your apps.
You can try the update. If you the app fails to start up you can just uninstall and re-install the old apk.I don't know if or when an update will come. Its hard to tell when you always have an update notification.
Appstore is not compatible with Sense 5. I have the same issue on my Droid DNA that's running Sense 5. The only workaround is using the old APK and hope for a fix from Amazon.
