uninstalling side loaded apps? - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

I know right now all the fuss is how to get stuff on the device, but I'm curious if anyone knows how to remove it. Seeing as we have to go through search to access what we install from the amazon market, how do we take it off?

If you use go launcher you and just drag it to a screen, long press it, and hit uninstall.

If you use go launcher you can uninstall from the drawer. Or you can install appmenu and have access to the standard android menu to uninstall, etc.
Sent from my BNTV250 using Tapatalk

Or download AppMenu then go to Manage Applications.

Installed fine on TouchWiz ROM. Can others report if it installs with no issues on stock ROM?
Edit: Took down download link. Not tablet friendly.

Stock 16gb here.
I got it installed
I now have two market apps installed. It did not override the tablet market. Also, I don't have access to the movies section.
I tried it and uninstalled it within a minute or so. Obviously not optimized for tablets. will wait for official release.
Agree...looks good on the cell. Not so much on tablet. But it is working..

yea I have a feeling this is the same apk for both the mobile and tablet because it works better on my TB than my GT 10.1
even then, it is alot slower compared to the previous market so idk if this is worth it just yet
Damn...i broke my market. I uninstalled the new one...old one seemed to work until i try to install an app or load my apps. Then i get a com.Google.android.finsky force close. Ideas anyone?
Edit: a data wipe and restart fixed the issue.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
yes data are not the same so have to clear it before installing the new one or after uninstalling it.
finsky is FC for me
I screwed up my market by installing then uninstalling this and wiping market data in settings and a reboot didn't fix the issue.
Market runs but when I click on the "My Apps" in the upper right I get a FC.
Can anyone send me the market vending files I need to push to my Tab's system/app folder to help me fix?
(and yes I know I am an idiot by not doing a Titanium Backup of Market before installing the new one).

Thanks for trying this out and reporting back, guys. I installed it on my Nexus S without issue but decided not to pull the trigger on my tab.

New Swype 3.25

Just installed the Prerealse of Sype 3.25 and it seems to work a lot better on the Photon then 3 that was always force closing on me. Also on this version you can finally remove words from your personal dictorany in the settings menu. No more highlighting word the pressing swyp key.
How you do it? The updated installer won't recognize that I want to update it lol
.:sent from planet Photon:.
I tried deleting the swype file with root explorer but it kept saying read access only. Do I have to unlock the bootloader to get this to work I am rooted though.

I agree it is a lot better. I love the new user dictionary options it has. It was such a pain the the rear to remove words you added by mistake, and now you manually tell it to add those words no longer does it happen automatically.

There is also another file. I install whatever one you want, in this case 3.25. Reboot then as it is force closing go into keyboards and disable it. Then go into manage applications and uninstall swype. Then reinstall it with the installer. Done deal
The problem is there is one more file besides the lib/apk. I don't know what/where it is, this is just how I do it, works for me perfectly. No need to rename anything.
So to recap,
delete swype apk.
install 3.25 using the installer
reboot and disable swype (stops the FC's)
go to manage applications under settings>applications, then uninstall swype (not swype installer, just Swype)
reinstall Swype with the installer again.
enjoy Swype goodness
And watch this dude in the beginning, he will make you feel swype slow..

So, I've registered and all that jazz, but running into 'Sorry this isn't an Android phone' business...
I use both the Dolphin browser and stock and I know I have to change them back into 'mobile mode', but (A) I didn't realize I had set them in desktop mode and (b) I've spent nearly 10 mins per menu system, and I don't see clearly where it say "mobile mode/view"
Is there a link to the installer that I can QR scan or something, b/c this would be a grave annoyance, seeing as though I already uninstalled the stock Swype with Titanium Backup, etc..
Help..

Noob and launcher confusion

This may be a dumb question But I am new to the Nook Tablet and the Android world (I still have a flip-phone) and could use some help.
I am rooted (Thanks Indirect and albertwertz! There is a special place in the afterlife for those who help others!) and I chose Honeycomb launcher.
I would like to try other launchers but do not know if I have to re-root in order to do so or can I install another and just change to that?
Any advice on the best launcher would be appreciated also. I know this is subjective but I appreciate your opinion.
And one more question. If I re-root and have purchase apps from the Android Market and Amazon can I re-download them without paying or can i back them up (I have Titanium Backup) and restore them.
Thanks for any replies, All help is appreciated!
Once you are rooted, you will stay rooted unless you unroot yourself or are unrooted by an OTA update. So yes, you can try other launchers. And anything you purchase through Google or Amazon can be redownloaded at no charge as long as you are signed in with the same account.
Sent from my SCH-I500
To install another launcher just install the apk or go to the Market and install one through there.
To get rid of Honeycomb Launcher, just go to the Android Market > My Apps and click on HCL Launcher and then Uninstall.
I recommend ADW Ex launcher, it's by far my favorite of all and really has amazing customization potential. A great out-of-the-box launcher is Go Launcher EX, which may be good for you until you get a hang of things.
Just to show what I've accomplished with ADW Ex, check this out.
Hi, I can't seem to uninstall Go Launcher Ex as I'd like to stick with ADW. Does anyone know how to do that? I get an error when I try to do it.

That's why it's not uninstalling from the market. System apps don't work that way. You can delete it from /system/app.

How do I Freeze apps?

I'm unlocked, and rooted. I just want to get rid of some of the bloat. I don't want to flash a custom Rom, yet. With other phones I remember just renaming the apk file. I can't quite remember how to do that. Also how would I do it with titanium backup? I see the is an option for freezing apps, but it seems to be to freeze all apps, I certainly don't want that.
Is there a list out there with all the apps that are safe to rename/ freeze?
Any help would be appreciated

Alright, freezing with titanium is simple. You can just go to the list of apps, long press the item, and then select freeze. If you do a batch freeze, it's faster, but this is just as easy. As for the list, yes, it's in the forum.
EDIT: Here's the list.
You can check out this tool. It's a script that will remove all the bloat for you.
You can also use it as a reference on which apps are safe to remove.

Yeah, that's easy too. I would suggest a nandroid backup before you do this one, though, just because I heard it doesn't allow everything to come back if you rebloat. But that's a good list of stuff you can freeze.
put your phone in the freezer for an hour. That should be long enough.

Check in the CleanTool thread in the dev section, between Scott and myself there are several lists. My list is all preinstalled packages on the Rezound, with apk, package name, and "normal" name.
My suggestion is to build a list of the packages you want to ditch, then move them to a separate directory. Reboot and make sure everything is still working the way you want it to. That way you have the package backed up in case something goes wrong.

I believe you need the paid version to freeze but you can uninstall the bloat you don't want for free. You could just backup the apps you remove before you uninstall them. Or get the key on the market for a couple of bucks and then freeze them up.
Freezing apps with titanium is a paid feature. I think Root Uninstaller has a freeze option that might be available. Or you can just remove them if you know you don't want them.
Just click on the app in the list, the option isn't under the long press menu.

freezing is a paid feature, but defreeze is a free featuer though it says it's a paid feature.
If you haven't bought TB I'd def recommend it. It's one of those things that you just have to have when doing the root thing. I bought it like 2 years ago and I still use it ALL of the time
Also, if you're running ics, it's a built I'm feature. You just go to any apps details and disable it.

You need to uninstall any updates first for the crapware apps then the disable function will be visible in stock ics.

What he means is to use a different program as your homescreen. Like apex launcher which you can find on the play store. However your problem actually is that when you installed CM10.1 all your apps where on your internal sdcard and CM10.1 defaults to your external if you have one. You have to change some line in the build.prop to sdcard0 instead of sdcard1. I'll go into more statistics later but have to work right now.

When you disable an app, it no longer shows up on your homescreen, and you can only do that for system apps or apps flashed in the ROM you installed. Is there any other information as I am trying to diagnose your problem

Any way to turn one of those back on? I guess buy disabling it then it does not appear in the "ALL" section of the manage apps? Oups
I can go into the file manager and navigate to the SD card. I find the CM 10.1 zip file but when I click on it to reinstall it says "There is no application registered to handle the type of file selected". I guess I used to have something that could install directly from a zip file....
I don't mind reinstalling cm10.1 if that would fix it... but how?
i rebooting into recovery mode and I'm reinstalling CM10.1... see if that helps
I installed cm10.1 and gapps... its still the same
