Really random, but... - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Is there anyway to override the fact that almost all the features and settings of the camera get disabled when you switch to the rear camera? Like, I want to be able to use the Cartoon mode or something when I'm using the front camera, but there's no way through stock. Would third party be the only way then?

[Q] is there way to unlock other camera adjustments like Contrast or Sharpness ?

I noticed while using the camera that there are no controls for contrast, sharpness ..saturation etc. So I decided to download other camera apps and use those functions in them. The only problem is, those controls have no effect on the image. I can adjust them ...say...in Camera360 or lgcamera but nothing happens. I can tell they are not preset values in the apps because say for Contrast, in all apps the contrast shows a value of 5. It can be changed but nothing ever happens. Is there a way to unlock these settings in the kernel maybe? Has anyone messed with this? Im just so used to always having control over these functions on my HTC phones. It seem kind of silly to lock them out on an amazing phone like the GS4
Bumpity....
Nobody knows anything huh?
I don't know about the third party apps but I know different options are available when you set the camera to different modes. Like in the beauty face mode the you can change iso

ISO is normally available in Auto mode as well as Exposure adjustments. But even in the Auto mode, there are none of the adjustments mentioned at the top of this thread. The only thing im really looking to control is contrast.....otherwise I have to edit most of my photos. The images are really good but because of the ultra high contrast preset in the camera, the whites/highlights get easily blown out.
Ahh.. guess not
No biggie I guess. Im not complaining about this phone or camera. Just kinda wish it had access to those controls.
So I just tried some settings in Snap Camera. Brightness, Contrast and Saturation have NO effect on the image at all. And also the Scene modes do absolutely nothing either. Is this some kind of bug with the GS4's camera software? Ive never used a phone and not had half the stuff working in the camera that typically works on other phones.

[Q] Remap Camera button for Google Camera or another Camera

Title says it. I don't use my stock camera. I started using Googles camera which is lacking in features but it does take better photos than the stock camera does. At least before any filtering, etc. So without me using the stock camera. My camera hardware key/button/short cut is basically a dead button and its like a pet pieve for me. I don't have to use the Google camera but I really want to remap this camera button where its used to open another camera app. What options do I have? Seems with the few things I've experimented with only let me change the camera button for an action and not a application launch.
Thanks
Josh

No landscape panorama photos?

I've noticed that I am unable to rotate the panorama feature to landscape mode... I have never had a phone unable to change the orientation of the panorama snapshot feature.
Try to replicate it like this: Rotate your phones orientation 180*, the camera buttons should rotate correctly. Now if you have the same issue as I, the panorama bar should stay in a vertical position.
They come out like crap if I take the panorama shot vertically, its center pivot point screws up the image versus it being in landscape mode to get a wider shot.
Anyone else experience this?
Auto-Brightness, FFC low light issues, and this issue are all making me decide against this phone.
Mine works fine.
Here's what it looks like. Portrait mode vs landscape mode. Pay attention to the camera buttons to distinguish between them.
Really weird bug.
When you first use the camera in Panorama mode, the phone flashes up a message saying you have to use the phone in portrait.
So it's not a bug, it's an intentional thing by LG. Why they do it is probably Reasons.
I've reflashed, reinstalled, and re-setup my phones so many times over the years. Must have glossed over the pop up at one point.

In landscape mode?
I'm using the h860 version and I also noticed this and I didn't read the pop up message that I can only use the panorama in portrait mode. That's fine with me, it can still produce the best panorama I've ever seen....
LG G6 Panorama
Yes. Why on earth did L.G. spoil a magnificent phone with this lack of thought. Not being able to take panoramas in landscape mode defeats the whole object of using the feature.
This and the discontinuance of the home screen instant call icons were a very bad change in the new phone that would otherwise have been close to perfect.
Also why did they discontinue the use of the colour changing L.E.D. on the new version.

Which Camera app do you use and why?

Which Camera app do you use and why?
I've been switching between ABC and Open Camera.
Those both have DRO built in.
ABC night mode works well sometimes.
I like Open Camera HDR and the ability to lower ISO, though it doesnt support 23MP
I haven't had a chance to try the snap camera much.
I'm using CameraNextMod.
Stock - third party apps have worse shutter lag because camera will refocus before capture.
stock and google one

Never heard of that one, I'll have to look for the proj thread
XNext Camera, a modified Stock Camera

I like keeping with the stock camera because i can use the dedicated camera button, and it uses the full 22.3 mp. With the mod, you could do some manual shooting (minus RAW capture)
You should be able to use the camera button with any camera.
I'd like to use the sony stock, but I'm on Lineage now so I didnt think it would work.

I just tried it with google camera, which is my only other camera app and i just knew now that it works. But the pre-focus doesnt.
Can Lineage capture RAW photos?
Stock because most apps dosnt support the max 23MP only 8MPx beside Camera FV-5
but! Camera FV-5 crash alot, the good thingg in Camera FV-5 you can use while the phone is hot and blow 4% batt, and abit more "control"
Only reason why I use Snap Camera is because I'm using LineageOS
Otherwise, I'd probably stick with default Sony camera

Question how to permanently disable hdr in camera app

Hi,
Since HDR in camera app is producing more or less watercolor like paintings (and don't get me started with the "funny" AI option) is there a way to permanently disable it? It's really annoying to manually disable it every time I start camera app. I usually forget to turn it off anyway and end up with unusable images. And yes, I'm using gcam too but this one has it's own set of problems.
Really, how hard is it to make a normal camera app? Camera hardware is clearly capable of good results but software is so bad it's frustrating.
I agree, the HDR implementation is a mess ! And it's very frustrating because without HDR enabled the app delivers pretty amazing pictures .
As a workaround for now I only use the camera in the expert mode (with all the settings in auto) because in this mode the HDR is never enabled and the picture quality is the same as the standard mode.
