[Q] Changing USB OTG pendrive mounting point - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Scenario: SGS2, KIES-updated HKI4 firmware (2.3.4), rooted
I have an USB OTG adapter I got from DealExtreme that works quite fine. FAT32-formatted pen drives are instantly recognized and properly mounted.
However, if I plug in a ext2 pendrive, Android says it is blank.
The problem, however, is that the ext2 partition is recognized as /dev/block/sda/sda1, so it is not mounted automatically. If I mount it manually, I can access the ext2 partition and use the pendrive as any FAT32 (with all the added benefits of an ext2 partition).
How can I make Android mount an ext2 pen drive automatically? What config files do I have to change?
thanks.

hii bro ... I have HTC wildfire s with android 2.3.5 ...but its not rooted... what do you think will It recognize fat 32 pendrive if I try to do on the go with it ... or do I need to root my phone ... any suggestion would be much appreciated ...

Most 2.3.x devices with USB OTG support will automatically mount FAT32 partitions without the need of rooting.
Actually, in order to mount other filesystems, one doesn't need root either. All that is needed is access to the console (such as Terminal Emulator) and give the proper commands.

USB Host: NTFS?

Hi all.
Please i need help reading ntfs partitions with my SG3. First of all the main question: It's possible to read and write a USB Pendrive or HDD with SG3?
I have tried NTFS Mounter without luck. A 2.5'' HDD shows power but nothing happens. A USB Pendrive is recognized by SG3 but it asks me to erase the USB Storage.
Thank you very much.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but afaik the S3 does not bring native support for the ntfs-3g driver.
However since it has the Fuse kernel-module it would (should) not be that difficult to actually get it to work.
It brings out-of-the-box support for OTG USB-adapters and seems even to be able to handle USB-hubs with several usb sticks connected.
But, as said, not NTFS; only exFat/Fat32 and Linux filesystems such as EXT2/3/4.
I was able to use a script and ntfs-3g on my SG2 and it could read ntfs without problem problem. Anyone here has tried to do the same with a SG3?

[Q] USB Mount Storage on ICS Lisbon?

Hello XDA!
I know that there is a USB Mount tool in this rom, and ive tried it, but whenever i press "Turn on USB Storage", it loads for like 30 seconds until the button reappears, not mounting to the computer with either internal or external. I do have adb and fastboot access, and Wndows 7 64 bit sees it as an android phone, just not able to mount files. does anyone know how to mount to computer, because the tool in this rom just doesnt seem to work for me. I do have an sd adapter and can remove the card and have the computer see my sd card that way, but that is more of a pain and wish to have a solution. Dropbox is somewhat a pain too since i only have 2 gb....... Thanks!

[Q] NTFS help please

So I have a rooted galaxy s2. I have purchased a usb on the go cable and I formated my usb stick to NTFS.
I downloaded a couple of NTFS mounters, usb mount and paragon.
I can mount and access the usb stick (which is 16gb).
The problem I am having is I am trying to download a 6.8gb file but it still says 'file size limit exceeded'.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Anybody?
When your device is rooted, you can use USB Otg Helper

how to unmount usb device ?

on my tablet , microsd card is mounted as storage/usb0 device
how to unmount it ? I can't find any device manager or unmount command to unmount this device
You say tablet, here in the OS for PC section? I don't have it on a PC but from their file manager there is an "eject" like icon near the drives title. If it's there that should unmount it.
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using Tapatalk
great , I install pc version on my 2in1 tablet ....

When in remix os, i plug in an usb storage device it will mount and when I try to access the USB stick it shows that it's embty and I cannot access any files or folders.
