[Q] Regarding LCD Density - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

What recommendations would you guys make towards a good LCD density ammount?

When I changed mine the dialer and other things weren't proportioned right. That was with anything smaller than 240.

Be forewarned when changing your DPI. There's a known issue with the newer android market not allowing you to install apps because of an incompatibility with different DPI's that the market can't handle.
Either, change the density back to stock (240DPI) download and install your application then switch back to whatever DPI you were using.
Also, there are many, many threads dedicated to switching back to the old market.

I'm using 220 with LP. I think the only issue I came across was the calender being slightly cut off. Dialer is fine.
Well, other than the market issue.

[Q] Possible to set diff LCD density/dpi for Google Map/Navigation app alone?

I love my Dell Streak and I was wondering if it is possible to set a different LCD density setting for Google Map/Navigation alone (on demand)? The current density setting on our Streak make the Google Navigation font/text too small for a 5" LCD. My wife's EVO running Google Nav with the default EVO Density of 240 makes it perfect for using it as a GPS Nav unit while driving.
I noticed that the our Dell Streak's Google Gallery app used a diff "density" settings compared to the other apps that run on our Streak. It looks like the Gallery app used a density of ~240 (guestimate).
I tried app like LCD Density Changer or changing build.prop but those are global density settings. I think a tool/app/program like this will be extremely helpful for us, Streak users, for when we need certain app/program to display larger font/text size (GNav in this case). I guess I am looking for a sort of on demand LCD Density app based on what program/app we are running.
If someone point me to the right direction, may be I can look into it if no such program is available.
Thanks

You may be able to write a task to do this with the Tasker App, but don't quote me on that. I can barely get a basic Tasker task going myself so far.

LCD Density -vs- android market

theres an elephant in the room folks, and no ones talking about it.. densities are being discriminated against every day, on our own streets, and I will turn a blind eye to it no longer.
anyone who uses LCD Density apps, to change the density of their screen has probably bared witness to it. many apps in our very own android market, are discriminating against these poor screens, just because they choose to be different.. so for us users we constantly have to reset our density back to default, download or update our apps, and then reapply said density..
has anyone taken measures to fight this evil? together we can put an end to density discrimination.

Old news, no?
Use old Market 2.3.6 and you'll not have problems with Market and LCD Density.
Cheers.
I ressurect this thread in the name of Android.
Has anybody found a way to fix this issue for new Market?

LCD density and scrolling problem

I've been trying to play around with LCD density to get some honeycomb apps working properly, and I've found that LCD density at 120 makes CNN, IMDB, accuweather, and the stock launcher treat the view like a 10" tablet. The stock launcher goes to the full grid size, and IMDB goes to the sweet BC version. The others just stop force closing. However, the only problem I have is that scrolling looks horrible. Moving up and down in almost any list causes the text to become tiny and the animation ghosts quite a bit. Any ideas or workarounds?
Also, I can't seem to get the density to stick through a reboot. I have it saved with LCD density changer, but the only option that works is the temp/preview change one.
Edit: I edited build.prop myself and now density is sticking I think. Guess that app isn't compatible with honeycomb.

When I tried changing the density with ROM Toolbox I had issues with sense loading after a reboot. Have you seen this?
The sense launcher doesnt work very well, I replaced it with stock hc launcher from desensed rom and it looks really nice. I plan on compiling a list of apps that work better/worse at different densities when I get my tablet back (loaned it to someone to finish their semester with)

I appreciate the response. Look forward to your list.

DPI on i9300

Unfortunately the search option seems to be missing and Google isnt being too helpful.
I'm curious if first its possible to change the DPI on the i9300 and if so if there are any recommended settings.
Main reason I want to do this is I find everything is too small. I know this is due to the HD screen but playing angry birds and other stuff is hard on the eyes.
I figure changing the DPI will make it bigger and easier on the eyes
This is the first thread I read where someone wants to increase the dpi. Usually people want to lower it. Lol
If you are rooted try the app LCD density from the market. It allows you to play with the dpi and if you don't have it checked to stay after a reboot it will go back to stock dpi after a reboot. This is good for if you are trying different dpis.

Thanks the app works but multiple apps start crashing when I up any amount. I started at 400 (fro default 320) and went down to 330 and same thing
You could try the Paranoidandroid Rom in the development section. It's fabulous in it's versatility, specially on this device because of it's size. It allows you to independently set the dpi and ui framework for the entire device including a per app list. So for example you could have all system apps set to display in tablet mode and all user downloaded apps set to their default phone ui & dpi or any combination in between.
You can also set framework and system DPI (statusbar, toast messages, etc.) the DPI on the stock rom is way to big in my opinion and I have old eyes. Most of the native Google Apps have a tablet display and the render dual pane and great on the S3.
Give it a try, I've messed around with the 3rd party apps and it's a pain compared to using Paranoid. Zero dpi related issues and makes the phone more functional in my opinion with the option of utilizing more screen real estate with tablet UI and DPI tweaking to your liking.
Build prop in System
this file
ro.sf.lcd_density=320
Change the last figure .

Thanks ill give it a try

Why are apps buggy when I change DPI?

I recently changed my DPI ('Smallest width' in Developer Options) to the recommended setting. The reason I modified the DPI is because the default DPI for the phone doesn't look right (the display looks too big and makes the phone look like a toy), so I went on a DPI calculator and gave me the recommended number so I followed it.
Everything is fine, but some apps are buggy. Like this app called Periscope, has a green line at the side when broadcasting. And when switching to split screen mode, the camera in Facebook Messenger has these jittery stuff going on like when a television has no signal. (All these issues don't happen on the default DPI of the device)
I TRIED REINSTALLING THE APPS & REBOOTING PHONE BUT NOTHING GOT FIXED.
My question is, why doesn't this happen on other devices such as Nexus 5x, Nexus 6P, and Google Pixel? All the mentioned phones have the normal DPI that aren't overly huge. Those DPIs are the recommended DPIs for the phones. That means they're normal, unlike my device's. I changed mine to the proper DPI, and it all went to sh*t.
WHY?
