Works for me on any ROM that I use. Pretty sure it's because I had the $15 tethering plan though.

There is a method to get it working on stock, you just need to add a new APN
check the development section. there's a thread for it. I think the procedures is on top of page 4 (yes im lazy to link). But you would want to add the new apn after doing a factory reset.
quiksense, xboarder already including a working APN so it should work immediately
other roms, you should add the APN at the very beginning when flashing a new rom before turning on wifi tethering or calling.
people say it helps to delete the other APNs such as simple, tmobile us tmobile data... leave the tmobile mms of course.

Go back into the APN menu and select Tmobile Data one, then menu and delete.
This should keep the phone from switching back to that one.
Don't delete Tmobile MMS. Just the data.
Hope this helps.

Ok, so after all the ways to fo this, the easiest is clear out APN type and save. Don't worry about the circle for selection going away it's fine. I had 6 customer's come it since yesterday complaining about tethering not working, mytouch 4g, and sensation's and it seems there APN's have additional type's so i believe TMo is pushing new APN settings. Just my observation.

I've been using the tether app since my hero and personally I don't like that it randomly quits working. I get started with errors to often. Also my wifes nexus had hotspot hacked and I took the ota and broke root (on purpose) and even unrooted the hotspot still works. I'm hoping if I break root somehow in the future I can be saved with that same concept. Other than that I love the tether app because it also has 4g

Because sprint hotspot has. Quick toggle button thingy that you can just press and turn on. Unless someone can get the WiFi tether to work on the quick settings then I prefer the sprint hotspot.

WiFi tethering issue

After I installed the new ICS leak I can't get internet on my laptop using my phone to tether either with wireless or when hooked up with USB.
I'm getting a 503 error in google chrome.
Says no internet connection, but I do get internet as I would normally on my phone.
Was able to tether prior to ICS but not now.
Any suggestions?

I was gonna ask that same question right now. At least it is not only me. lol.
Thing is, I don't use T-Mo I use Simple Mobile. Uses T-Mo network but not T-Mo so I should be able to tether unlike the other thread who said its a T-Mo thethering issue.
Sent from your mom's bedroom using XDA APP
I know what Simple Mobile is. It's an ICS issue if you are trying to use "Wireless Tether For Root Users" or any other tether app that is not native.
Trying to tether both wired and wireless and no joy
I'm using the installed tether nothing from the store.
Any workarounds that you know of Hasoon?

Tethering works perfectly for me on ARHD 10.2 (which is what I'm guessing you meant to type). Just go to settings, hit more, mobile network shareing, then go into portable wifi hotspot settings, name your hotspot and PW, then hit the checkbox. I had no problem.
Just curious, when you did your install with AROMA, did you hit AT&T, or international?

No.... Using the "phone" apn yes, at 5GB of usage I get throttled down to .047mbps down.
Then I just switch over to the wap.cingular APN and BAM pulling 6-10mbps down on H+/3G. No throttling here..
This thread is a bit confusing to me.
Are you guys saying AT&T charges extra for tethering?
ATT charges $$$ for a seperate data plan which lets you tether Internet, which is also limited to about 5gb or 3gb, not too sure. If you use tethering on a regular phone (stock rom with bloatware- fresh from the store), they would probably charge you for tethering because of the detection apk they put in there.
The way to bypass this is to use a custom rom, Internet tethering should work on it, maybe you could reflash/ reset the phone (all the settings and whatnot) maybe try a different rom?
Also, I diddnt know you could bypass ATT throttle, could you post all the complete APN settings to do that?
Cheers,
OK, please forgive me for being slow. You only save money if you're tethering from a phone with unlimited data plan, right? If you're on a limited plan, it doesn't matter and AT&T should not charge you extra, right?

If you go over the limit on a limited plan, they charge you extra $$$. I think it is $20 for 1 more GB.
If you are detected tethering on a stock ATT phone, they will probably charge you for tethering plan
If you are on unlimited data, you may lose it (plan) if you are detected tethering (stock phone),
if you go over limit 5GB for 4g LTE phone they will just throttle you.
Undetected tethering/ Custom ROM with removed att protection = only worry about going over the limit
Cheers,

I agree. The only thing Att or carriers look at is the amount of data being used periodically or the mac/ip address. Carriers have the ability to tell the difference from our phone using data or tethering, especially if data patterns changes.

Ya lol....i think he can pull it off...im a linux based programmer professionally and i tried all methods except using a jtag riff box seing as i dont have one lol...even fly helped me go over the steps with no luck...i could get it to read with io unlimiteds fix (which didnt fix it) but not the actual fix...so faith in the rezounds robotanity will be restored by the great Neo lol
Edit: Once i get the rez back im gonna try this apn / build.prop / lte tweak that should definately work for 4g tmobile and other gsm based carriers (granted they would have to set up the proper apn's) @Uzephi if you want i could message you the stuff to guinea it now
