Google Books link to Market for Fire but not The Nook Tablet? - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Ijust saw a video today on youtube, this person opened up google books apk on his Kindle fire which launched the market. He clicked on Shop in the upper right hand corner, it launched the Android market on the device without root. I tried this with the google books apk I have but upon clicking shop,it prompts me to pick a browser. It did not automatically open the shop.
Can this be done? I don't believe I can post a link, so the title of his video is, "How to use the android market on the kindle fire" and was uploaded yesterday. Again, he says it is unrooted.

Kindle Integrated Store

I can't seem to get the integrated store in the Kindle app to go beyond the first level (i.e., Books, Newspapers, Magazines, etc.) Once I click on that I get an error and link to the webpage. I have linked free eBooks to the Amazon account on the webpage, and they seem to sync fine with the Kindle app via whispernet, I wonder why I can't do the same via the integrated bookstore though.
Same exact problem here..
Kindle Store
Ditto. Nootered Nook Color w/ 1.0.1 exibits same behavior. Anyone find a fix yet? Scott
It seems to be tied to the user agent issue (reporting as desktop) in the stock WebKit engine.
Any solution to this?
I have a brand new Nook... freshly rooted and this was the killer feature/app for me. It kind of kills my excitement that it doesn't work.
So, this was annoying me too. I read the info about the user agent issue. So I played a bit and here is a quick hack to get it mostly working. Note, that the "integrated" kindle store is really just a Webview that is displaying the mobile pages from amazon.
Outside of Kindle, open the default browser. Click on the icon in the top right hand corner looks like some lines with a triangle pointing downwards.
Then select Mode Options.
Select Settings
Then select the first item marked: Browser Mode/User Agent.
Click on Mobile Browser Mode.
Now, open the Kindle app and click on the kindle store.
Now, clicking on anything here will take you to that error page, but if you now click on the Home link now and if you have more then one browser installed, select the system browser and it will take you to the mobile Amazon page.
Select books then Kindle books and now you are at the Kindle store and the links work. As long as you are selecting the system default browser each time it seems to work for me.
Note: When it draws the page, the back button gets slid up and is not visible. Simply drag the page down and the back button will be visible, or use Softkeys.

Followed your directions and was able to access the mobile site. I don't see where I would select "Books" then "Kindle Books".
On my mobile view I have the following:
Recommendations For You
Category Bestsellers and Deals (Which lists Today's deals: Books, DVD, Music, More categories)
Cart
Wish List
Your Account
1-Click Setting
Help
Amazon.com Full Site
Sorry, for me after getting the error page, if I click on the link to go Amazon's home page, I have a link to books as the first item. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I have logged into Amazon before on the device outside of the kindle app?

I have the same problem in the kindle app, solution I used was to just use dolphin browser on the amazon site and send them via whispernet from there.
The instructions provided here work to a tee. My device was on version 1.0.0, so I didn't have that mobile user agent option in the browser. I guess it became available in the 1.0.1 update. Anyway, I updated to 1.0.1 and 1.1.0. I have the mobile user agent in the browser and it works!!! Thank you so much for this. I could have just browsed the Amazon site on another browser in desktop mode, but this is an enjoyable experience just for Kindle content and you can buy or sample content!

[Q] how to launch kindle book reader with alt. launcher?

Hi,
I installed the apex-launcher as alternate launcher for my kindle HDX7 (rooted). everything is working so far except starting the kindle book reader (not documents, that one is working).
clicking on the icon "Amazon Kindle" simply does nothing. No force close, no new window, nothing.
Any hint, how to read Books on Kindle Fire HDX with an alternate Launcher?
thanks.
macfly.
Go to the app drawer, find app name "Docs", that is the one you need to open instead of "AMazon kindle", any document appears in either "Docs" or "Amazon Kindle".
Another fast shortcut is swiping up from the bottom, you could see the docs.

This is not true. under Docs are only the documents available, that i uploaded (via email) to amazon. Under "Amazon Kindle" are the books available, that i bought at amazon. The Behaviour that you describe happens at the "normal" kindle-app that you can install on a normal android device. The kindle app on the fire hdx do behave different.

yepp, that one helps, if you ever openend a book before.
So there is still no option to open the amazon bought books from an alternate launcher ...
In my case, I have no problem with reading ebooks on Kindle Fire HDX. I download books .prc and uploaded into the kindle Fire hdx's storage so I do not know about the bought books from Amazon. You haven't mentioned exactly your case in the #1 so I misunderstood.

Two-step process. First, launch "Home" (with the kindle icon), aka the Carousel launcher.
THEN pick the books from the regular menus.
No, I haven't found a way to bypass that. Seems the special Kindle-tablet-app only accepts calls from the Carousel launcher and won't load otherwise.

Nook Reader App 4.0

BN now has the Nook Reader App 4.0 on the Play Store. It even runs Kids books just like the stock reader. But Play Store shows it as incompatible with the Nook HD/HD+. It does run fine, just Play Store will not allow it to be installed so that it cannot be installed on the stock software and interfere with the stock version. The solution is to manually install the apk file to CM yourself. I have uploaded the apk file to my Dev-Host server account here:

Thank you for sharing.
Edit: will not actually load any of my side loaded content. Sees it. Let me add to library, but won't let me open any of it. Alidko opened them fine.
This app was eating my processor time and battery, slowing down my device. I finally traced it to the nook service trying to keep me informed of things. I was able to fix it by going to settings, apps, and selecting the nook reader app. There I unchecked the show notifications box and all was well.
Edit: well spoke too soon. All was well because I force stopped the app also. As soon as I opened the app again that service started to eat me again. May need to go back to prior version which I had archived.
Edit2: I think I found the problem. First, I uninstalled and reinstalled the 4.0 app. That fixed my inability to see my sideloaded books. Second, I went to settings and in downloads unchecked both newspapers and magazines for automatic downloads. I subscribe to a magazine and the service was automatically downloading a new issue. That is what was eating my processor. All ok now. I love how the new version displays the magazines.

Dramafever app no longer officially supported - Possible to use Amazon Fire apk?

Hello.
A while back, Dramafever removed their Android TV app from the google store as it was not working. They told me 4 weeks ago they were attempting to fix it, but last week they updated me again and told me Android TV is no longer supported.
I have extracted the APK from my FireTV Stick and sideloaded it. The app starts to load, then shows the 'Amazon Appstore Required' message, as you would expect.
So I installed Amazon Underground and tried to load the app once again. This time I get the message 'Error updating this app'. The app is fully updated and running on my Fire Stick.
In another thread about DirecTV NOW, the user @JJ-KwiK was able to successfully remove any Amazon account check from the APK. Would that resolve this problem and let us use the Fire APK for Dramafever on the Shield TV?
Here is the APK if anyone is willing to help me out - my.mixtape.moe/ttvivv.apk
Thank you.
I tried it and it didn't work... needs amazon app store.

Problem with Kindle Reader App After Installing Google Play

I installed Google Play Services/Store, which works perfectly fine, but afterwards I could no longer open the Kindle App. I only installed Google Play Services because I wanted to be able to read from the Google Play Books App as well as the Kindle App since this new tablet screen is much larger than my LG G5 screen. Well, now the Kindle App doesn't open at all. It starts to open but immediately crashes back to the home screen. The preview page, for reading, shows what books I have but I can't open them from there either. I've tried clearing the cache manually in every app on the tablet. I've tried restarting. I've googled many different phrases to find help on this but so far I haven't found any type of thread that discussed this problem. I'm out of ideas.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Note there are (at least) to variants of the Kindle App:
- stock Kindle designed to run on FireOS (only)
- scaled back version available via the Play Store designed to run on 'generic' Android;
You may want to try installing the Play Store variant to see if that resolves the issue while retaining a sufficient number of core features for your needs. Otherwise, a factory reset should fix the problem by removing the Google Play store and any associated detritus that may be interfering with the operation of the stock Kindle app.
