New and Frustrated - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

I just got my Nook Tablet 2 days ago and am very frustrated by the lack of instruction that I am finding on the internet about using this.
I know how to buy books and to change settings. I have my gmail set up but I cannot figure out the internet portion of this. For some reason the facebook login page was made to be my homepage and I have tried to change it many times....didn't work through settings. Also, while in facebook, I do not see "chat" or who is currently online. Am I doing something wrong? I did not see fb as an app in the app store.
I also have been looking at your lists of apps that everyone has added to their NT. Again, I am frustrated because I do not know what any of you are talking about. I am no techie!
Please help me out here or this thing is going back.
Joyce

If you go over to the B&N website and click on support for the Nook Tablet, you will get links to a dedicated 200 page user manual in pdf. Hopefully that might answer some of your questions.

I have read the manual and it does not give specifics for fb.

I don't think chat is an option with the mobile fb site. Also, the fb app is not available through the market on the nook. There is a fb apk file in the "must have apps" thread here, but not sure if it has chat either.

One thing Barnes and Noble has over Amazon is an actual store.
If you take your NT to the store, someone there should be able to help you set it up the way you want.
In your case specifically, I would recommend ignoring postings about side loading and rooting until you have quite a bit of experience using the stock Nook. You will avoid a lot of frustration that way.

The Alps listed in the "must have" are pretty easy to install and use. Just go to that page from the browser on your nt and click on the link(s). You'll see a little arrow in your notification area, click that and choose the package installer. At some point you'll need to check to OK installing non-market apps. Once you've installed the apps, you can get to them by seaching from the nooks search function. I would recommed installing the Amazon market and buying wave launcher. It will let you access up to 12 apps by swiping a finger, and you can also access all your apps through an app drawer that way too.

I think the OP has received several helpful replies to their problem.
As for the forum itself, I'm new and my experience has been that each of my polite inquiries have received responses, including help side-loading, rooting, and issues with default ringtones.
Perhaps insulting those who are in no hurry to get on Skype and talk to someone they've never met, is a questionable approach. Just a thought.

"Meet" is probably the wrong word. In this sense it would be seeing a number of posts from a user to get a feel for how they deal with others, how knowledgable they are, etc.
You have no doubt seen posts from people which gave you a strong desire to have no interaction with them at all. That kind of thing.
In the very short time I've been watching these forums I've already seen several people jump in with an extremely demanding attitude. Like somehow they're entitled to everyone's immediate help.
Where does that come from? This isn't a Barnes & Noble site. These people aren't paid by B&N. Coming in demanding help seems like the wrong tack to take. If someone is looking to rant about the device they'd probably be more successful going into a B&N store.
Similarly, if you want detailed help on formatting epubs then perhaps a reader-specific forum might be more useful. Something like the Calibre forums maybe. Yes, the Nook Tablet is a reader but the vast majority of the posts here gear towards to the Android tablet side of the device--not the e-reader side.

Dude. EVERYONE I talk to ends up enjoying themselves.
Everyone claims they like people so much. Cell phones are flying off the shelves, Skype is more popular than ever--even Gmail has a BUILT IN PHONE--but we're afraid to call "strangers" or "random internet people" because they could be p*****s, so how can you convince me that you really like people when you're so afraid of them? Who are people calling? Who are you calling? People who already agree with you? Sounds like a boring life to me.

Dude, maybe people don't want to take time out of their day to be your personal nook/android tutor when literally every single person has figured **** out themselves by either using the forum search function or using Google. If you used your time to do research instead of writing long rambling posts, you would already be way ahead of where you are now regarding knowledge. Seriously, everything you ever wanted to know about android is at your fingertips, you just need to put the work in yourself.

Please don't feed the troll.

Wow.
walk away.
Breathe.
Relax before you haave a heart attack.
You catch more flies with honey.
In regards to the op... he did seem to come into a technical forum to attemp to figure out very basic usage information. Read a few threads here and im sure youll pick up some things. I had to google a lot of acronyms and things last week to get up to speed. Kexec, cwm, etc. You'll pick it up. Just keep reading!

I think this has been one off the nicer forums on here, and and I'm proud to be a part of it.
In general augustusbot is 100% correct. This is a forum for modding not for basic usage, the problem though is in general there is no good manual for any android device. The fact that Barnes and Noble has physical stores is great, it is their job to show you how to use your device.

Dooballs....
Go buy an iPad. You will fit right in.

jdubr is just being polite. Nobody wants to talk to you because you behave like a b**t on this forum. The internet is a place full of normal people, but it has its fair share of we****s/a*****es. And we know very little about a person other than what we can discern from their online behaviour. From your prior posts, I personally find you a "***** ******** ******". And I believe most other people would feel the same way. That's why no one wants to talk to you. Try cooling off, then going through your previous posts and looking at them objectively. See if this happens in real life, or in other forums/personal interactions.
It's well and good saying you are well-liked. But based on the evidence we see, it seems to be the opposite. Nobody owes you information, or help. Anything anyone provides here is a gift, yet you demand it and complain when you don't get it.
It's true that information on forums isn't always very organised. But that's just the way they function. There ARE efforts to make it neater. But sometimes the developers/etc are too busy trying to figure out higher level problems to neaten up their work for a beginner to follow. In any case, they don't owe it to you, me, or anyone else.
I'm sure the developers would be more than happy to have people put up tutorial videos for them. But you have to ask nicely, and put in your own effort as well. The effort taken to develop/program/code is immense. To make things fair, how about putting in some of your own effort rather than adding to their load by asking them to simplify/explain everything in a beginner friendly manner?
To the OP, Joyce, there are various FB chat programs on the Android Market, you can try them instead of the official FB app. Also, there is some information on the Android Development Subforum about changing your screen dpi to 160, which may allow you to see the normal FB app on market. But that aspect is not fully firmed up yet, so you might want to wait a week or two till they have it stable.
As for "must have" apps, if you are new to Android, try downloading some of them which sound good, and try them for yourself. What others find good, may not work well for you. And part of the fun is exploring the Market to find apps that fit your purposes well, even if they aren't particularly popular. Try reading the descriptions and reviews on the Market for a quick feel of how the app works.

THREAD CLOSED.
I feel the OP was answered and purpose of the thread satisfied. So, thread closed.

My Dell Streak says there is a Froyo 2.2.2 update

Yesterday, I got a notice on my Dell Streak says there is a Froyo 2.2.2 update available.
Should I do that? I have no complaints about my current 2.2 version.

Okaaaaay.... let me rephrase that.
What would be the advantages of updating from 2.2 to 2.2.2?
Disadvantages? Bugs?
Let me rephrase it then, plenty of threads about 351 and other new roms for you to rummage through. Better get cracking. I find 351 to be a bit buggy but others love it. People here won't spoon feed you so use what has been posted and make a decision.

Im with you, buddy. I am totally ok with 2.2 and see no need for 2.2.2 if its primary update is the stage home screens. I have Launcher Pro Plus and dont care about the Dell Stage screen. I also heard that oo.voo constantly runs in the background. I dont need another back end process to constantly manually stop, so that it sill autostart again. Some have said sound quality issue. There suppose to be enhanced email functions but I bought Enhanced Email from the developers site directly and it works fine. I am not sure what Gallery updates are but im ok with the current.
Hey William, if you come across other items, pro or con , let me know too. Thanks, bud.
Remember some time ago Google removed some 50 apps from the market because they had a malware payload? The main difference between 2.2 and 2.2.2 is that Google has closed the exploit which allowed that malware to work.
To me, that is a compelling enough reason to upgrade. However, if you don't, every so often Google may force feed you a malware removal tool. But, as said earlier, it's your choice as to whether you want to upgrade or not.

A bit of a smartazz aren't you?
What good is a forum where you can't ask questions without feeling stupid?
I don't do that on my www.CorvetteC3.com forum that I founded and run, that has been around longer than this one at 10 years. We start off new member telling them that there is no such thing as a stupid question and if it has been asked before, so what... ask away, the members here are friendly.
I've been here over a month now and getting tired of seeing this kind of attitude telling people to use search instead of answering the question or leaving a link. If that is the case, we really don't need a forum do we?
I've found on my forum after awhile, new members learn on their own to use search,
I wasn't talking about you, Rico or Strephon and thanks very much for your replies.
Hey no prob, William. I agree with you. I dont pay those sort of responses the time of day. You are correct, some reply as if its their personal site. Strep made a good point for updating when it comes to the Google malware update. Thanks for this sting.
About the only time I will actually tell someone to go search is when they ask the same question on multiple threads in the same forum, just because the threads happen to be related. To me, such behavior is childish.
So, I have done it myself. I'm not proud of it, but at the same time cannot change my frame of mind. I simply don't have patience for stupidity, and spamming the message boards simply because people aren't helping out as fast as the poster might want is stupid.
William, for the most part the people on this forum are decent. You and I seem to have managed to find that one person that rubs us the wrong way. In your case, it's someone being a smartass. In mine, it's someone providing a solution that actually ISN'T a solution. It almost makes me wish there was an ignore list feature on the site.
EDIT: Found the ignore list feature on the site. *LOL*

I think it's rather odd that you have your own forum where you say people eventually learn to search yet here you didn't bother doing so. Did everything you learn on every other forum before, escape you right before coming here?
I bricked my phone last week yet I didn't make a thread asking what to do. I searched and searched til I exhausted all the solutions. I had dozens of threads to go through, you have a few at most. mine was a much more urgent matter than yours, but I knew it was covered over and over.
Maybe its cause I used to get flamed for not searching when I was younger but now when people do that I just see laziness and a "I'm too good to search" attitude.
Not saying thats whats happening, though I dont know you so I cant say.

Yes I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for with my particular question.
Searching XDA for "2.2.2 difference" gets you this on the 3 or 4th page.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1050077&highlight=difference+2.2.2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13278734&postcount=20
Googling "2.2.2 difference" gets you pages worth of info.
http://www.differencebetween.com/difference-between-android-2-2-1-and-vs-android-2-2-2/
http://androidandme.com/2011/01/phones/update-your-nexus-one-to-android-2-2-2/
Since 2.2.2 is a platform specific update and not device specific update, you didn't have to limit your search to just the streak section.
Thanks for the links. I did see some of those. In my post I was more after personal opinions of those who have went from 2.2 to 2.2.2. Wanted to see their thoughts on it.
As for the members on my Corvette forum, most of them are between 40-60 and many don't know how to search or are too lazy to, (retires you know).
I'm 58 and a bit lazy sometimes myself.

Actually, both are beneficial, a couple threads/posts were very helpful and searching here and googling found more answers. Combine them all, you get a lot of different views. I like as much info I can get.
The update isn't a true 2.2.2 update. I received/did it a couple of days ago. it's still 2.2, I was told that there must be some a typo or some such on the web page, but my phone still shows 2.2. FWIW the battery seems to last a bit longer, but the 3G reception doesn't seem quite as strong. YMMV

Tethering after VZW pulls t#e plug?

I am coming from a DX where TBH modded the NV files to use the stock hotspot application.
I was wondering if there has been any devs taking a look into this...
And by the way I DO NOT want to start a ethics war on tethering or not tethering...
Thank you
There's been threads with lots of useful information (and posts) within the last couple of weeks. You'll probably get more informative answers looking at those then asking people to repeat what they already said.

I have skimmed thru quite a few recent posts regarding tethering and I find none of them useful in answering my question. I see that many of the posts go on to get a smartass remark or two from someone who has not a clue about how to answer the question.
Kinda like what happened in this post.
So I would like a linky or a better answer.
Ohhhh, if you want a smartass answer, I could do far better....
That was only my polite, "look around the knowledge base because it's useful" answer that noobs seem to find insulting anyways.
If I really wanted to be insulting, I would tell you to RTFM . I help plenty of people with legitimate questions, feel free to look at my post history and see for yourself.
But really, I do agree the ways people say it tend to be rather blunt.
However, the overreactions to even sensible replies to search around are also just also just as bad, since there doesn't need to be a new posting always and some people just don't think before they make one and reminding them to do a little search I think helps (if done in a not so overly rude way). My initial post was not a slight against you but a word of advice that people will do what you just said, insult you and give you non-helpful replies.
IDK what kind of solution you are looking for, but there isn't a magical "Verizon will give you free unlimited tethering legitimately without extra cost option if you ask them really nicely" or a "I'll come right over to your house code and compile the most amazing tether app in the world that actually boosts your LTE speed beyond what Verizon gives you and does your homework when it's idle."
Instead of taking the defensive because someone asked if you looked around a little, perhaps clarifying your question in a way that shows that you actually searched (i.e. "I noticed there was this method to tether or that, but I don't really like those options") makes it clear to everyone you gave it an honest shot and also motivates people to want to help you more
It also keeps things on topic so you get the answer you want faster. Just for future reference.
I searched the TB forums and didn't really see anything on the subject. I only found

I recommend using advanced search and "search by post" not by title. You'll get more relevant info that way. If you happen to be an opera mobile or desktop user, you can make a custom search from http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?f=940, by hold pressing on the search bar for that page for mobile or right clicking for the desktop. It will then add it to your other custom searches for easy access

No, because it's a different phone that was never fully rooted and it's the only phone mentioned, but it's worth talking about since it's the first threat that comes off as more than words (though it could still be regardless). Verizon can tell what you're doing far easier on it than other phones because you don't ever have full control of it on the droidx. If there's any phone that can detect if you're doing unauthorized tethering, it's going to be a phone that's locked down. People who buy moto get what they pay for.
Though someone did mention it somewhere in some topic on the thunderbolt forums about the droidx having ways to detect it, but it was just glossed over.
I never used stock hotspot app because I never even try apps with monthly charges. what's the point of checking it out and potentially getting hooked when I'm absolutely certain that I will NOT pay monthly charge for that. I'd rather switch back to T-mobile
with that said, I'm using wifi tether as I write this. it took me a while to configure it because it wouldn't work out of box but it's free and well worth the price!
I've been busy lately and havent kept up with this...so Verizon shut down the free tethering apps, like "wifi tether for root" and others?
Not to throw this thread off topic or anything I just wanted to know how you got the H and # key's confused in the thread title as they are quite far apart. Again, sorry to everyone just kind of a weird mistake.

Seems the Thunderbolt running gingerbread is the same way, although I reverted back to froyo for the time being so I cannot confirm what this article states.

Doesn't CM7 provide an integrated tethering solution? That should be undetectable to Verizon.
If they are baking something into the gingerbread update to detect tethering apps (pun not intended but welcome), it won't find its way into the CM7 code.

I doubt anyone on a T-bolt can confirm since we're still getting free hotspot. Unless they are allowing official hotspot use but blocking tethering apps.
I suppose that would make sense if they're trying to get people hooked on the feature.
Yareally thanks for the links. I don't know if you own a xoom but I have yet been able to get the search feature to work in the xda site. Maybe you could find a link for that as well and post it for me.
I am not currently at home with access to my laptop where I have full availability to use the advanced search feature. So thanks again for making these links available in ones easy to find location.
As for the #.. I use thumb keyboard on t#e xoom and it is t#e result of a long press on t#e h key. I think you should be proud if yourself for being able to figure out what I meant to type.
No offence to anyone but some times when you all jump on people asses there may be extenuating circumstances.
Sry for your troubles. But I hope you rest good at night knowing that you have helped one soul find some good info.
The search feature using a web browser or using the application for xda? I've heard the application has lots of issues for anyone period with the search and since many seem to use it, it's probably the reason for lots of duplicate posts. If you mean browsing it on an internet browser, that seems new to me as far as I know.
I've never used it, I just browse using opera mobile (with a link to the thunderbolt forum on my speed dial and the search tied into the search bar next to the url bar).
Opera mobile still has an unresolved issue with LTE being throttled (max of like 150KB/s), but it's not a deal breaker for me at least compared to using the stock browser in terms of getting to where I want to go quickly and its tie-ins to the desktop browser.
No worries about the thread. Internet makes it hard at times to interpret someone's replies anyways since words can be taken many ways, lol.

Why is it so difficult to see Tablet-Optimized Apps?

So coming from the world of iPad.. yeah yeah, groan, another one of these, haha... I find that there's a big gap that Samsung\Android\Google has in the following areas when it comes to apps for tablet:
- Lack of an easy way to sort by "tablet optimized" ... the market has a Tablet featured section, but it doesn't seem to be able to search and sort by tablet only apps. This is very difficult to navigate.
- The term HD used to mean tablet optimized, but it seems this is becoming less and less common as some phones are now "HD" so the developers are more and more reluctant to call them HD to mean Tablet Edition.
Does anyone have any advice for me as to a good way to sort through and find apps specifically designed for the Tablet devices? I have the 10.1 so obviously the tablet apps are kinda a must, otherwise my eyes hurt looking at the low-res conversions of phone apps, haha.
Or is there a tracker that tracks Android TABLET Versions of apps available and as they come out?
There is a thread in the xoom or transformer forum that is keeping track of tablet compatible apps.

Way to try and boost your post count. Congrats on posting the most worthless post of the day. You clearly need to look up the word entitlement and educate yourself as to what's entitlement and what's not.
Oh by the way, I just found a website selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1 32 GB models for $529... wanna know the link? Oh, it's on google, or yahoo or somewhere.
The point is when someone asks a question, and you take the time to respond, it's generally the norm that if you're are going to point them in the direction in the name of being helpful, that you indicate a location of a thread.. Saying they thought they saw something, maybe in the xoom, maybe in the transformer thread, that narrows it down to only about 2500 threads. Common sense. If you don't know an answer it's OK to say I DONT KNOW, or say nothing at all.
A smart man keeps his mouth shut when he doesn't know an answer.
EDIT - I just did a review of your last 10 posts. Every one you argue for the sake of arguing, providing zero benefit to any of the 150 conversations you've participated in over the past 4 years.

Ahh, yes, I've read this post before and was afraid that's what that user was referring to.
Unfortunately the question I asked was not which apps are COMPATIBLE with Android 3.1\Galaxy Tab, but that are in fact optimized for Galaxy Tab.
Sorry I thought I was clear. I understand most apps will run and be compatible with 3.1. but their resolution is poor ... so I was more looking for info as to if there is a thread where someone is keeping track of native tablet apps as they're released.
Thanks!
EDIT: I re-read my OP, and I was clear that I wasn't looking for a "compatible app" list as most apps are in fact compatible, but in fact looking for tablet-optimized\specific apps.
if you read that thread, you would see that there is a green asterisk next to all apps that are optimized for tablet viewing. Honestly, someone has to do the work of compiling these lists...if you're unhappy with what's available, create one!

Yeah, was going to create one of the apps as I find them, but no need to reinvent the wheel until I've asked if anyone has already, hehe.
I'll open a thread in the general or apps section under galaxy tab 10.1
I had that same question and I wrote to someone at the Android Market and this is the response I got:
"Thank you for your feedback. The ‘Android Apps for Tablets’ section contains featured apps for the tablet. As you’ve mentioned, it isn’t a comprehensive listing of all apps that are designed for your Honeycomb tablet.
If an app is listed in the Android Market accessed from the tablet, the developer of the app has indicated that it is compatible with your device.
I appreciate your feedback regarding the labeling of this section and will forward it to the rest of the Android team."
I had asked about apps optimized for tablets/honeycomb...but regardless of what I asked, the above is the response I got.

They don't seem to see value in their own new OS. The biggest anti-android tablet marketing tool Apple is using is "look, they don't even have apps for tablet" and when Android hides them or doesn't give option to show they do have tablet-optimized apps, it makes Apple look right.
1. First I highly suggest you install AppBrain as you'll get a lot more detail from there about apps. Visit appbrain.com and you will see what I mean. It gives you the links to the Android marketplace so you won't have to install unknown apks.
2. Sorry about the people on the forum. Sometimes people can be testy about newbies and their questions. Feel free to PM me with any questions. It takes a while to get the hang of things but the core Android supporters are pretty good at finding things for themselves. We've had plenty of practice.
3. Don't be afraid to start threads about things like this. Most of us don't pay attention to little things like this. To you, this a big thing and I can see it might turn alot of people away from Android tablets if they don't fix it. Perhaps a petition or thousands of e-mails will get their attention.
4. All of the apps I have installed (152) look great. Which ones are you having problems with? E-mail the developers and let us know as well so we can test them out. If they suck, we could all give the developers some feedback on it.

Oh I completely forgot about Appbrain Thanks And thanks for offering to help. I appreciate it.
There are very few apps that don't work... in fact, I haven't run into any that don't work, I was more asking because for example when comparing an app like Stock Alert - Tablet Edition to an app like Fidelity which doesn't have a tablet app (well they have iPad but not Android 3.1 tab yet), I more meant I just like the ones that are specifically made to take advantage of the tablet's great screen size.
Thanks again, you're class all the way, your response picked me up and made my day. I appreciate it.

Let's say it this way. If the Android Market doesn't have a up to date tablet/honeycomb section, it is very difficult for developers to develop tablet optimized apps. Because, why investing in this new platform when you get buried between the 400.000 apps currently on the market?
It's the first section that's on the market's main page... how is it hard to find or view apps marked as tablet friendly?

I guess it is even harder to comprehend the word "featured"
Agreed. When visiting the app store on an iPad, there are two very distinct sections, iPhone apps and iPad apps. Everyone knows that the phone apps will run on the tablet, but that's not a reason to lump them all together.
I think the use case is something like this:
1. I need a nice twitter client.
2. Check tablet section for twitter client.
3. If none found, settle for phone version.
Obviously the tablet version (like Tweetcomb) will use fragments to utilize the screen real estate. A phone client would not. The problem with not seperating the app market properly is that you may end up settling for a Honeycomb "compatible" app when there was a much more useful "designed for Honeycomb" app you didn't notice.
I hope I'm wrong, but I feel like people here are hesitant to accept some of these flaws as they try to justify their $500-$600 purchase. I for one love my Tab, if merely for the widget capability and Flash support. We need to realize that the way to bring Android tablets more mainstream is to take our heads out of the sand, accept that these are real issues, and make it known to the powers at be. Ignoring the problems and pretending that all is well with the Honeycomb ecosystem just won't work.
Edit: If Apple isn't too proud to copy Android's multitasking ability, notification system, etc to make a superior product; Android shouldn't hesitate to do the same where it makes sense. It's just good business, and even better for consumers.

Totally agree with you Blaine. There's no reason why they can't use the exact same structure and call it something else. Apple is taking features like BBM and now Google is working on their own. The market is getting better but it should be further along now.
I wonder how we as consumers can get this message across. I try using other App Markets but I would really like the Google Marketplace to get with the program. They should at least require them to put HD in the title or market them with a special color.

[Q] CyanogenMod port to TouchPad

Unfortunately this is not a thread providing the community a taste of the hot product from CM team.
This thread is to discuss why CM team don't want to 'play' with the xda community here that is eager to follow their guides and put Android on their TouchPads?
I expected much more involvement here. with lot's of technical discussions. Like in other forums of xda.
There was the crazy bounty period which was meant to cause this forum to be very lively but instead it introduced rivalry and now a 'cold war' between devs. Every attempt to get in on the dev just gets treated like spying.
They don't want to release a 60% done alpha to the community I'm guessing. Why are you posting a question in the development forum?
Reading is hard!!!!

This is the state of XDA nowadays.
I have a theory... back many years ago, when devices were more expensive (Palm Treo 650, anyone?), it was an "older" crowd (people with jobs that paid for the gadgets) who were able to afford buying the latest mobile devices, and were a little more mature when it came to posting on XDA and other forums in general. Fast forward a few years, and now smartphones and tablets are pretty ubiquitous overall, and many of them are in the hands of teenagers. I'm no math/stats geek, but I'm sure there can be a correlation shown between the average age of your typical smartphone user going down over time, and a rise of stupidity (and lack of maturity) on technical/development forums such as this one.
Just look at these gems:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17889535&postcount=401
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17961879&postcount=423
Rod has the patience of a saint to have to put up with The Stupid oozing out of that thread.
In fact, that's kind of my point/response to the OP. Can you really blame developers/dev teams for wanting to stay away from XDA? Just look at what people like Rod (rwhitby) have to deal with in those quoted posts above. I have a Vibrant, and you should see how bad the Vibrant subforum is with repeated quesions, lack of people searching first before posting, and basically wanting to have their hands held to do something instead of searching through a thread first, or even doing a simple google search. This isn't how the community used to be. But it's the state of XDA now, sadly. So don't blame CM for not wanting to get XDA involved in their alpha stuff. At this point, it would only hinder their development on the port.
My $0.02's worth and sole opinion.
I agree and I read that thread when I want a good laugh.....fing n00bs
I used to use "Let Me Google That For You" to illustrate how easy it is to find answers with just a SMIDGEN of intelligence. But I kept getting spanked by mods for snarkiness.
Here is my take on what they are really saying:
"I see all the stickys and warnings to search before asking, but I am too lazy and it just takes too much time and basic sense to find the answer.
So what I will do is say that I am in a hurry and apologize for asking my stupid question and they will answer it and all will be well."
Just let it die lol.....

Since this will be Android 2.3 (I think), will we be able to download the tablet apps, e.g. Facebook or Angry Birds HD (even though there is a webOS version), or will we be stuck with the phone versions stretched out?

Honeycomb specific version (That leverage the fragments API) will not be accessible.
However, many (most?) apps are written to leverage the screen real estate avail.
I have a Viewsonic G-Tablet currently running a slightly modified CM7 and most of the games/apps look perfect on it. Not stretched out, etc. You will of course have exceptions, but for the most part my G-tab works flawlessly.

The actual facebook app doesn't work well on my Transformer. It just stretches out and looks like crap. I use Friendcaster and it looks great and works really well too. Friend Me is another one that looks good on tablets as well.

OPT - Often Posted Threads.... Sigh read this first please

Ok after a dozen of the same posts, complaints, observations posted over the last little while hopefully people will read this and stop posting new (read useless) threads.
HALP! my browser / launcher / whatever isnt as fast as my phone!
Yes, different devices, different reactions. The same way two different cars may react differently the stock browser on the prime and on your nexus s, htc, samsung, etc. will react differently.
It is no secret that the stock browser and stock launcher can be laggy at times. If you dont like it try a different launcher and different browser.
To do a proper comparison between two different devices you should load the same launcher and same browser on both devices. Please stop and think before posting "my phone is faster than this %$#@ prime" threads, do proper tests, know that we know the launcher and browser are slow, and use one of the suggested solutions.
OMFG! Da prime is discontinued!
At least three threads i have been in TODAY have people speculating the prime is discontinued. "An asus employee told me, my store stopped recieving stock, my local store has them on clearance"
As of this date there has been no official word from Asus reguarding the status of the prime. Please do not post threads about this unless there is something official, or you have proof.
Actually, know what? please just dont post these kinds of threads. Speculation never got anyone anywhere.
WTF! My GPS / / Wifi works / doesnt work
Ok, we pretty much all know at this point the wifi and gps are crap on the prime. Some people have better than others, some people find weird solutions.
Im personally convinced there are several plecibo fixes (you THINK they work because you WANT them to work). There is yet to be found a fix that works for everyone, aside from having wires hanging out of the prime. Lots of threads about this, read the "opened my prime" thread (all 100+ pages of it) lots of good info.
I WANT ROOT, WHY CANT I HAS ROOT! .21 issues...
Ok, seriously? Few things i gotta clear up...
Just because its easy to root ONE android device does not mean its easy to root ALL android devices. Also consider we HAD root before .21 which was a pretty good effort from the devs. Asus patched the hole used to root, now we need to find another way. Complaining will not get us root faster. Yes, we all know you want to root your prime, just give devs time to figure it out.
CAN I HAS UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER AND KEEP MY WARRENTY TOO?
No. just no.
The reason its easier with samsung devices is because samsung does not lock their bootloaders and actually gives us the tools to flash new kernls / roms to our phones. Asus does not do this, in fact they try to make it hard on us. The only way to unlock at this point is to send your serial to asus, they do some fun math with it, and send you an unlock code. Deal with it, use the unlock asus gave us or dont unlock at all.
HOW DOES I GET GPS DONGLE?
The GPS dongle was prematurely leaked. It will be officially announced when its ready, not a moment before.
Basically, when its ready you can register your serial nubmer with asus, they will send you a GPS attachment (fixes to the dock connector on the prime), should be available in the next week or so, stay tuned. VIP.asus.com, should be announced April 16 (ish), expect a month to have it ship once they have your info. Should be free for every prime owner.
OH LOOK! SHINY PRIME SUCKS/ROCKS COMPARED TO ______
For serious? Because there are not enough comparison threads already (use the search, its what its there for) you had to make another? If we want comparisons we can easially search youtube, there are literally dozens of em. Sure its nice to know how this device stacks up against another but there has got to be a thread you can post in already, no need to make another one. (Also, warning, you may get banned, just sayin)
Thanks for taking the time to read this, may your future posts be constructive and benefit the community!
You might want to add the stupid comparison threads although those have all been b& recently.

There should be like an Android quiz before you are able to post (newbs can still register and read) new questions.
Kinda like a Sgt's exam for cops or something similar.
Something not too hard but will require some sort of experience and/or common sense with regards to Android devices.
Updated to include comparison threads.
Lol Nefariouss sorry you think its useless, i was hoping that people might read this thread and know not to post the same types of threads we see pretty much on a daily basis here.
